Savage Belle

I think this is really great! Dark, but sparkling. I love powdery scents so I'm likely biased, but the powdery, slightly smokey "mineral" charcoal note here alongside a fresh, expensive vintage cologne vibe with the genius addition of shampoo ginger, especially straight from the dabber /first spray, is a surprise and does make this colder and more unique than not, bringing to mind a Dark and Stormy drink. Perfectly unisex despite the name, but I think it can easily slide more one way or the other depending on skin chemistry. Something creamy comes out close on my skin which I find very pretty, I suppose that's the woods. I honestly don't have a good grasp on the stated notes otherwise. I agree with cpellegrino and Capablanca- it smells of something I can't quite name, and vaguely reminds me of the natural sweet scents of old fur and wool coats or sweaters: not lingering scents on them but the actual fur fiber - neither animal, mineral or exactly floral, but kind of all at once. This does not make it musky or leathery in any way, it lacks that kind of warmth or animalistic undertone, which you might expect with a name like "Savage" Belle, and may be disappointed with the lack of indolic tropical flowers or carnal musks alongside the ginger. However with its snake iconography on the box and bottle, a vision of a cold, aloof femme fatale in a fur coat, a cold ginger cocktail in a smoked glass in hand, is pretty apt. I find it really enjoyable and wearable.

It's 1925 and you find yourself in the Chinatown district of San Francisco, standing under a crimson-pained pagoda. Down a few stairs and into an easily looked-past basement door, there is a Speakeasy unlike any other. Plush red-velvet couches overflow in the space and the smoke in the air is heady, sweet, and definitely not coming from cigars but instead, from very long and thin pipes the likes of which you've never seen before. Men in neatly pressed shirts play casual dice games in the corners while women serve them tea in little lacquer cups with no handles. You take a seat and are handed a pipe and a cup of tea. You only meant to rest your eyes for a moment, but realize that you may have been dreaming all of this. Is this really a couch you are sitting on, or is it a red field of poppies? Are those beautiful women in silk dresses or are they sinuous dragons, green-gold scales rippling in the smoky light

The fragrance is so interesting and off-beat but not totally out-there. Putting aside the imagery and « femme fatale » from the packaging and name: The opening has a clear, transparent ginger note. Like a ginger tea. I do not really detect any bergamot but I’m sure it’s supporting the ginger. Ginger tends to disappear quickly. The wisteria is pleasant. As it developed the wisteria turned slightly soapy, yet still sexy. The soapiness falls away. The wisteria is powdery and slightly musky backed by a curious mineral note with surprising, though not unpleasant, sharpness for a base note. The image that comes to mind is sunny day, a dangerous, shining knife and a wisteria vine. It could considered unisex leaning feminine. Or maybe a feminine scent with a dangerous feel.

bold, beautiful, and delicious. very long lasting and potent, but not overbearing. my friends loved it on me :) this is definitely going to be my scent for months to come

Cold mineral scent and fresh aquatics reminiscent of aftershave. I feel like I’ve smelled this while kissing stubble long ago (thank you to the person below who said that, I nodded to myself) This would be a great layering scent! Mine is a little dabber so it’s perfect to put a few splashes on in the morning. I can’t decide if it’s more of a cold or warm weather/day or night type of vibe. Not sure why but this one is a little hard for me to pin down! Kind of frutiger aero?? Something about coal and wisteria together really makes sense. This one isn’t super potent and I have to think hard to get anywhere with describing the scent. Smells a little alpine and rocky. It’s more of a freshen up than a perfume to me, but I’m enjoying trying to put my finger on this one!

While I adore the scent profile itself, I do find myself wishing for a bit more presence and staying power. On my skin, Savage Belle wears very close, becoming a skin scent relatively quickly. The longevity is also somewhat fleeting; I find myself needing to reapply it within a few hours to recapture that initial lovely aroma. If you appreciate fragrances that are intimate and won't overpower a room, Savage Belle might be right up your alley. It's a beautiful and unique composition. However, if you prefer perfumes with more noticeable sillage and longer wear time, you might find yourself wanting a little more. Despite this, I can't help but go back.

Surprised by this as it smells like a more expensive perfume I can't name. The ginger is very present without being overpowering at all, which is great. I think the powdery-ness of the wisteria helps to smooth the spicy-ness of the ginger. The bergamot works well with the ginger. I'm not sure I smell the "charcoal accord" but perhaps that is part of the powdery-ness of it. Unsure but I will say I blind bought this and no regrets :)

Some people have called this scent “odd” and “weird,” and it’s certainly... intriguing. It starts off with the sharp, cold, mineral smell of the charcoal note, paired with spiciness from the ginger. It’s very strange, but not unpleasant. I can’t stop sniffing it. Once the top notes wear off, I get a slightly soapy wisteria. It’s pretty and floral, and much more wearable than the top notes, but also nowhere near as compelling.

I still don't know how to feel about this one. I picked it up 2 years ago at a small boutique selling niche items in a small town. The opening was very unique, dark and beautiful to me, but smelled very feminine. Then the dry down won me over and smelled more masculine?? I was so confused, yet I still bought it. Though honestly I rarely wear it. Only when I want something unique and totally different.

This is a unique scent. It had to grow on me. Smoky and cold and mineral. At first I recoiled from this one, but found myself sniffing my wrists again and again - it’s a little addictive. Masculine-leaning and alluring. Like kissing the cheek of somebody who just slapped on a little aftershave. Sweetens a little on the drydown.

Review by way of immediate mental imagery....Old west traveling doctor's dusty medical bag has leaked treatments, salves, and his aftershave and yet he's also got a Chai latte and some coffee cake in there to take back to lodgings with his little daughter.

Smells really cold and mineral-y. Silages is pretty low and not last that long on my skin. But indeed beautiful and weird.

This is basically baby powder, mineral and woods. Imagine a creek in the woods at night. You can smell the mineral rocks, running water and the woods in the background. It's a dark, cold scent that leans more masculine. I don't think the baby powder note is helping this perfume. If it was replaced with an exotic floral or fruit, it would be a better perfume and more unisex. The powder makes this feel a bit mature. Smell: 6 out of 10 Longevity: 6 out of 10 Leans more masculine For reference, I'm female.

this smells like my dad in the morning before he went to work. i'm not sure what he does exactly, it must be shaving his face, washing his hands, then putting lotion on his arms, but for that reason this smell is very nostalgic to me.

I wanted to like this one so bad. In the bottle I can smell the ginger, charcoal, a little hint of wisteria. It smells sexy and dark, but still appropriate for a spring or summer day. However, once it's on my skin? Just baby powder. Absolutely nothing but baby powder. All day long I have been catching whiffs of baby powder, baby powder, and baby powder. It is the total opposite of sexy and dangerous, but at least I smell clean?

Whoever said this is an exact dupe for Annabel’s Birthday Cake is crazy! I wouldn’t normally purchase something like this, but it was a blind buy based on the few comments I read saying that it’s a dupe for ABC. For $12 I had to find out. To me, this is a pleasant, masculine leaning citrus & mineral scent that smells vaguely and lightly of a men’s body wash that would be named something like “Aspen Springs.” I actually could never quite place “mineral” notes until I smelled this, so that was a cool bonus of purchasing. I will definitely try it at least once, but will probably end up giving it to my boyfriend.

I oddly agree with the mink coat comment 😂 this is super powdery. I do get a heavy dose of wisteria, which almost smells like licorice? But within 10 minutes it turns powdery like cosmetic powder or something with the wisteria/licorice smell sitting very gently in the background. Weirdly makes me think of some of the Lolita lempicka perfumes, it's actually a little ethereal in a way? I can see why someone would like it, it's just not my personal taste in fragrance.

Dark academia in a bottle. There’s something... h a u n t e d, about it. Enigmatically beautiful. The charcoal and ginger give this a light amber-y on the dry down. Projection and longevity aren’t the best (as with most tokyomilk scents in my experience) but it’s still lovely and not too costly.
