Sonoran Bloom

A delicious, powdery floral. I love it so much. Not sickeningly sweet, super aquatic, extremely earthy, or overly floral as many fragrances feel to me. The balance is amazing. I imagine the powdery note to be dusty clay, a slight aquaticness to be the petrichor, the light floral to be cactus flower, and the fresh sweetness to be agave. It's clean and light and beautiful. It's just perfect.

This fragrance is unique. I have a really large perfume collection & this one is unusual in my collection - in the best way possible. It's dry like clay & a hot desert day, but it's still somehow juicy like eating a starfruit in the rain. Dusty, powdery, AND wet??? Such a weird combo. I love it.

To me, this perfume is for a independent-minded woman who doesn't want to go with the crowd. She likes wearing flannel and graphic tees, but she cleans up well. She's in touch with herself and nature. She sometimes disappears into the forest for hours, and returns with a basketful of river-polished rocks, wild mushrooms, and snake skin. I encountered this perfume in an arboretum gift store years ago. I enjoyed the sample spay, but I'm an adventurous spendthrift who prefers lots of samples to full bottles. For years, I waited for TokyoMilk, ScentSplit, anybody to offer sample vials. I waited in vain. After several years I caved and bought a used bottle on Poshmark. Does time and distance make the heart grow fonder? For me, this fragrance did. The fragrance of petrichor, followed by desert blooms, and finally terra cotta came rushing back. Sonoran Bloom is very unique to my nose. It's bold and earthy, yet clean. It's floral and feminine, but not headachey. I also appreciate the skill that went into creating the sensation of petrichor. Picture a down to earth woman from Durango, CO or Santa Fe, NM: chunky silver and turquoise rings grip a pint of craft beer, round brim wool hat covers a grown out balayage and the beginnings of crow's feet. She likes road tripping to Moab, UT every spring break to hike in the rock formations and canyons. She's effortlessly cool, one part free spirit and one part boss babe. I like this perfume. A great dry floral for all seasons, but I especially like it in winter. Great staying power but the silage isn't overpowering or heady. Clean and "cool," not sweet and frilly. At once entrepreneurial and spiritual. Great for trendy women over 25. Gets great mileage both in the office and out for leisure. Edit: I've found this to be almost identical to Michael Kors - Sexy Amber after testing that one, which I don't understand given the completely different notes.

Summer has shown up later than usual where I live. Today was the first day over 90 F day (32 C), which was perfect for Sonoran Bloom. This fragrance is a rainy desert day, wet clay, and fragrant desert flowers. The projection is quite intimate, so it doesn’t add to the suffocating heat around you. Recent TokyoMilk fragrances have been a little weaker performance-wise than in yesteryear it seems. However, they’re still decent, a little quirky, and mostly safe for the office, which is good since I have sooooooo many fragrances that are probably too bold for the office.

Classy, clean, green, fresh, floral...lovely for spring & summer, and daytime. Work appropriate.

So this is a very, very specific reference, but back in the 80s, there was a cartoon called Lady Lovelylocks. Which meant of course there was an accompanying toy line, including a series of scented pet cats. I had the purple one, and it smelled EXACTLY LIKE THIS. Obviously, most people won't have had this specific toy, but if you remember scented plastic girly-girl toys from the 80s, you'll have a general idea of what I mean. The floral in this is a soft powdery "purple." Someone below suggested violet or iris, and my toy cat was supposed to be lilac scented, so definitely some sort of purple flower. I was hoping for the fresh sour tang of cactus flower, or a petrichor resulting from the rain+clay notes, but Sonoran Bloom is none of those things. It smells pleasant, but is in no way reminiscent of the desert.

The opening to me smelled very much like Jo Malone Frangipani flowers, which I love. Lemony and bright. Unfortunately all of that brightness was gone in literally 5 minutes. A hint of lemon stick around as the powder came out, but only long enough to disappoint me. From there it became progressively more powdery and bitter until it smelled like a scented diaper. It was disgusting. All of this happened in ten minutes and then I washed it off. Does clay smell like a scented diaper?

Definitely agree this is powdery. Like dusty powdery clay, it also has a very synthetic scent about it. I'm not a fan for myself but I could see why someone may like it. It strangely also makes me think of Miss Dior or something along the lines of that, they don't smell super similar but they have this same weird perfumey aspect that I just don't find appealing. I feel this is a more mature (50s+) scent but I'm also a believer of anyone can wear whatever they want whenever. Also reminded me of bath and bodyworks moonlight path, however upon smelling my candle of that, they are mildly similar but not a lot, however if you like that sort of smell you will probably like this.

A very nice, dry green floral. I find it doesn't last on me, but I have scent-eating skin. Using moisturizer first helps a lot with longevity. This is a work-safe, somewhat casual scent. I agree that it brings to mind a woman (or man - it could be unisex) wearing jeans and a linen shirt and chunky silver and turquoise jewelry - clean casual chic. Very, very nice, indeed!

This scent has some soft, floral and fruity notes that are pleasant to smell. Overall, it's a feminine scent without much of a spine. It smells like laundry liquid, or what I'd like my laundry to smell like. Hard to detect floral notes (I don't know if they're jasmine, rose or whatever) and sweet fruitiness. Nothing out of the ordinary, but also not too bad.

I clearly don’t get what everyone else gets in their reviews. The initial spray I can see the glimmer of potential. A teeny bit of the clay, the cactus flowers, and rain. But it QUICKLY turns into a straight up baby wipe scent. I thought maybe if I sprayed it on clothes it would be different but it’s just strong baby wipes

Smells absolutely great but not for me personally cause its a little too overly feminine in my opinion. If you're a woman, definitely would recommend, its amazing; if you're a man, then probably would look for other options.

This does not smell like petrichor. Or cactus. "Dry floral" is a good way of describing it. Maybe a powdery violet or iris. Certainly more powder than aquatic. A nice smell but nothing earth shattering.
