Costa Azzurra

The reason I am happy paying Tom Ford prices is because sometimes they can do something that no other fragrance house does for me: make me wish I could have sex with myself. It's only happened twice, with Ombre Leather Parfum, and now with Costa Azzura. Somehow both fragrances make me wish I could clone myself, or meet my gender bent version of myself, and also be the masculine ideal of myself, all at once. I don't know what it is about this fragrance, but I have worn at least 3 times since I bought the full size last week and every time I am ravenous for myself. I cannot stop sniffing my arm and smelling the air around me. It's so sexy and intriguing but also just very basic sophisticated fragrance. The spicier notes of vetiver (a personal favorite note of mine when trying to feel more masculine), cypress, and cardamom are the notes that swirl in the air around you as wear this, tingling the nose and drawing you in. But once you lean in close to the skin, the lighter, creamier, savory notes of seaweed, musk, and vanilla cling to the skin, offering almost a completely different perfume. If I could smell it on someone else exactly the way I smell it on myself, the outer, spicy aura would make the impression of a summer fling romance, one of those handsome men from Italy you see on IG from a pretty girl's European summer, but if you fit your face into his neck where he's sprayed this fragrance, the vanilla and seaweed makes him a man that could be cuddled in a cashmere sweater for hours. Definitely a more day time and summer fragrance, since body heat (and a little sweat) makes the scent really shine.

I never thought that a perfume of Tom Ford, fougere and "fresh" could please me so much, and since It wasn't going to do it If it reminds me (very slightly) my favorite fragrance from Issey Miyake L'eau bleue from Issey. I did not have the fortune to know Costa Azzurra edp when it belonged to the Private Collection, but now launched in the Signature line I have tried it together with its Parfum version and both fascinated me, the two compositions share the premise of the type of fresh fragrance that I and like it evokes the sea but is not a marine fragrance and much less aquatic, Costa Azzurra is the air of a Mediterranean sea of autumn or spring in that changing time where it is not completely bathed by the sun and that rhe water does not yet have a calm turquoise color, it is an airy sea next to a very dense, impenetrable wood full of coniferas; the cypresses, pines and tall oaks do not let the sunlight reach the earth so that air moves in this landscape is moist, dense, green and mossy, some trunks fall into the sea and the salt and the remains of green algae "marinates" these woods that are an essential part of this composition. If you are looking for a simple crystalline and summery fragrance here you will not find it this is Mediterranean class bottled, a perfume of good dress that can be worn almost all year round except the coldest days if you are a fan like me of this type of compositions and you like especially this one, a very good option is to have both versions and leave the Parfum for the nights where the presence of amber and the ladano will do the magic.

I must say, I absolutely love this. Just purchased and I cannot get enough of it. My collection consists of Creed, PDM and Christian Dior, mainly. This is my first from TF. Summer stunner. Marine without the overdone “blue”. The green and woody nature makes this so damn good. There is something in the late dry down that is similar to Silver Mountain Water, another one of my absolute favorites of all time. You can certainly pick up on the higher quality raw materials used here. There is nothing harsh or abrasive at play, which we should be able to expect for the price tag. I purchased from discounter and am extremely pleased with the value for the money. I am not a poet. So, I will not wax and wain beautifully with a romantic story. My experience = super wearable, easy grab and go for warm weather, don’t need to think too much about it or be in the perfect mood or wardrobe to be able to “pull it off” such as some of my Creeds or PDMs. Completely different from ADG and other aquatic/marine/freshies on the market. Highly recommend. I feel like this might be as close as I get to a summer signature. In the last 1/3 of our humid, Midwest summer I want to smell like this all day, everyday. Enjoy!

Costa Azzurra is a scent which is often overlooked, for I suppose it is technically not that special. I however, love the stuff despite the composition not fitting within my usual style. I feel it’s an impressively unique take on a masculine summer scent, and one that I don’t feel I will tire of any time soon. The bulk of the scent is actually built around a central theme of a classical mens ‘aftershave’ with certain fougere qualities - lavender, citrus, woods and cypress leave the impression of a mature, sophisticated gentleman. It’s from here that the added layer of driftwood and seaweed are placed on top, tying in a beautifully salty and marine nuance, like the rushing waves of the Italian coast splashing against your skin. As I said, most people overlook this. Is it my favourite fragrance ever? No of course not, but as an easy to wear perfume for the summer, I think it’s brilliant. Unfortunately the extortionate Tom Ford prices are a downside but in regards to the scent alone I think it’s lovely. The parfum is noticeably longer lasting, but overall the same scent profile which I don’t believe justifies a further increase in price.

Someone compared Tom Ford Costa Azzurra to Casamorati (Xerjoff) Mefisto. Since I have both, I can say they aren't dupes. But this person did make a good connection, since they both smell Mediterranean. * Overall comparison Where Costa Azzurra smells very zesty and piney herbal fresh with a lemony sweetness, soft marine and a masculine kick in a feminine way, Mefisto also has that masculine kick in a feminine way, but Mefisto also has very prominent flowers mainly lavender and rose. Mefisto is not herbal and more round romantic even flirty. * Target audience differences Even though they smell both just as unisex, I would be more safe to recommend Costa Azzurra as a blind buy for a man who likes clean masculine scents and a trendy, soft hearted woman. A young couple with small children who don't let that fact locked up at home, but takes them to Mediterranean countries. A couple who works hard, but also knows how to make you feel welcome, sit back and relax with a cocktail. Mefisto is more for a creative, romantic, inspiring couple that couldn't care less of what society thinks. Hope this helps.

Spend over half my years on a warm island - this is my night time and special occasion scent when women are involved. Clean, refreshing with more than a hint of musk that made one girl's eyes roll back when she smelled it for the first time. I'm a bit different in recommendations - I would recommend this for (comfortably) warm summer date nights or small, mixed-party outings, but something else a bit less musky for the warm summer days where you would want to be a bit more fresh but without the sexiness and something that lasts a bit better, as either I'm nose blind or it really doesn't last long (like a lot of TF, I'm finding). Probably the sport or blue lines for the hot weather daytime. For a club or casual bar outing in the summer probably something more immediately attracting will do, like sauvage or invictus, as this one doesn't have the same reach and is a skin scent for your date to enjoy.

You know when you go on a summer holiday to a warm country with your family or your wife/girlfriend? Well imagine you've been at the beach all day, then you come back to your hotel or villa for a shower and to get changed before you go out for dinner. You leave the villa and walk to the restaurant. This fragrance smells like that walk to the restaurant. The sun is setting, it's warm but with a cool breeze in the air, you can hear the ocean and you are wearing a white linen shirt, have a tan coming along, and you feel totally relaxed. It's got an amazing blend of wood and citrus notes that smells so Mediterranean. For me, it works better in warmer climates but i think you can comfortably wear Costa Azurra EDP Day/Night The main problem however with this fragrance is the longevity is not great. After 1.5-2 hours it can only be smelt on the skin, and after 5-6 hours, it's pretty much gone

Interesting situation with this fragrance for me. I got it in 2022. I really enjoyed it for a month or so, but then I got distracted by some other releases and basically forgot about this. Fast forward to yesterday and I found it in the back of my collection. It had sat in the dark cool comfort of my walk-in, at the back for almost 3 years. I sprayed it and holy moly, it was completely different than what I remembered it being. I know not all of us can leave a scent like this just sitting around and I did it accidentally, but this scent macerated into a beautiful and much richer scent. It’s still very intimate and close in regards to sillage, but I’d honestly say that it’s twice as strong as it was when I purchased it in 2022. It’s amazing.

It seems that a lot of people write a review after one time test wearing a fragrance. That is very apparent, when reading statements like "only lasts 4 hours, then completely gone" or that the scent is "very weak". Either you must have bought a fake on ebay, just to save a bit of money, or you just haven't let your fragrance macerate properly. I have a bottle of Costa Azzurra since the end of September 2024 and currently it lasts pretty much 12h on my skin. I put it on in the morning before work and in the evening I can still smell it on me when I'm home. Actually the scent is so strong that in the evening I don't even wish to smell it anymore, but I do. My advice: fix your dry, perfume eating skin and let the bottle macerate.

Citrus and a bit of lavender on a base of salty, unique driftwood and green cypress. Overall a oceanic and clean woody fragrance with a mediterranean feel, that almost reminds me of more classic barbershop scents. Though unique it will most likely liked by many. I honestly feel like this is underrated, it definitely deserves to be above an average of 4/5 on fragrantica. It will work it’s best in spring, summer and early fall, but it will probably work anytime and anywhere if you need it to. The only limiting factor is it’s projection in colder weather. Atomizer is good. Scent: 10/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10 Versatility: 8/10 Price: 6/10 Overall: 7,8/10

I decided to come back to this after trying it and hating it initially, and I’m glad I did. Upon my first try this was too soapy for me and on certain days, the opening can still irk me BUT, it’s just too good to deny. Light, elegant, classic but modern, formal and casual, day and night and on and on. It’s just too versatile and sophisticated enough to be applauded. Leans slightly more male to me but I would try this regardless just for the experience. Yes, it is more intimate but seems like decent longevity (4-5 hours?) for a warm season scent. To me, this one is a no brainer to have in your collection. Unless of course, you hate it 🤣🤣🤣

Love at first sniff! I enjoy how the citrus, evergreen/wood and incense/resin notes balance each other out. Beautifully done summer fragrance that is different from anything I currently own. Slightly masculine leaning unisex in the drydown, but I think that anyone who wants to wear this fragrance will smell great doing it. Low to moderate longevity, it's a well-blended summer masterpiece but it won't last over 3 hours in the heat & humidity (edit- in the A/C it will last much longer) Full bottle worthy to me, I'll just spray a little extra. A sophisticated summer fragrance, very different from anything else I've tried, that's aimed for high heat. It opens with a bright aromatic splash that is quite frankly a transportive experience, then dries down to a woody base that still has that aromatic touch to it. The seaweed is apparent and it adds to the woody-aromatic blend but never overpowers. It isn't for everyone, I can see the seaweed note, although not dominant, put off some people. The performance is painfully average on my skin in high heat, but I'll excuse it and that's because the smell is that great to me.

This is gorgeous and transports me right back to a trip I took around the Amalfi coast... It evokes walking into a deserted, musty old church in the hills above the coast, surrounded by cypress trees and citrus groves. On opening, it's lemony, musky and resinous, reminiscent of church incense. As it dries down, the brightness of the lemon fades to leave a mellow, woody and herbaceous base which lies close to the skin. It's beautiful but not very powerful. An inoffensive, expensive-smelling daytime scent that would be perfect for a work day in spring.

The loveliest fragrance from TF that I have ever owned and worn. Summer of 2021 was all about Costa Azzurra - a holiday to Nice couldn't be a true experience without wearing this every day. Wearing Costa Azzurra on the Cote d'Azur made it so much more special. Summer in a bottle, citrusy, fresh, powerful, well-performing, but not at all intoxicating. Aquatic, non-mineral, very well-done blending of those 18 notes listed above... going to get a second bottle very soon. I hope I'm going to be still as in love as when I got it almost 3 years ago.

I really like this one, specially the dry down. It has a soft floral background that works very well with the lemon and cardamom notes. It is very well rounded, and warm without being sweet. The cypress and oak notes are quite a beautiful addition, as it elevates the overall experience and makes it more masculine. The longevity is quite good, and it projects well. Some people might think the smell is a little "common", and although i might agree, i think this is a way more sophisticated version of what you might have smelled in the past.

Love it... I fully get the cypress at the beginning but this passes within an hour. Then this is what it’s all about for me... soft calone and wood, beautiful ambrette and a bit of citrus. Seen reviews that suggest it’s a bit generic, I sort of get that in that it’s not a challenging wear but that’s part of the appeal for me. It’s a soft wearable fragrance that has subtle kicks of well blended nuance. Evocative of warm Mediterranean coast but ultimately very wearable. Smells subtly expensive

One word: classy. Think lemon trees, yachts, and a Mediterranean breeze. A beautiful, aquatic, and refined take from Tom Ford. My first impression was clear—it came off a bit pungent. But after giving it some time and wearing it more, I started to really enjoy it. It’s smooth, though the longevity isn’t the best. Still, it’s definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for a unique aquatic scent with a playful yet luxurious vibe. In my opinion, it’s still a gem in my collection.

This one has really grown on me. A couple of months ago it felt medicinal and off-putting, but now the lemon and orange together with the cypress and incense really shines through. And the subtle hint of oud; perfection. Chose this over the Parfum due to it being more fresh and citrusy, and still having the same performance. More suitable in hot weather. Can't wait to embrace this in the high heats of Spain this summer. I'm from Norway, so anything above 15°C is a win.

Smells like a wealthy man on a yacht, so sexy and so mature but in the best way possible. It is good in performance-lasts a good 6-7 hours on me and the projection is good too especially first maybe 2 hours before it turns into a more intimate fragrance. Imo it is much more of a masculine fragrance than it is feminine but if you can pull it off, go for it. Will definitely buy a whole bottle and maybe keep it somewhere cool and dark so that the fragrance matures.

Very deep, it is a mysterious and relaxing Mediterranean summer perfume, unlike other sea-themed perfumes. At first, the lemon scent gives a refreshing feeling. And gradually it changes into a very nice aromatic scent. But I think this scent lasts about 3-4 hours on me and doesn't spread much and another 1-2 hours as a faint scent on the skin. But regardless, I really love this scent. Too bad it's expensive and not long-lasting.

This to me comes across as an updated early 1990s powerhouse in a similar vein as Ralph Lauren Safari for Men and Cartier’s Pasha, and that becomes more obvious as it dries down. Here we have a more robust citrus opening and then the cypress floats above that Safari DNA. Myrtle adds the seaside touch but this is no aquatic, at least not as we know aquatics to be now. Smells fantastic, one of my favorite discoveries this year.

I bought this a couple month ago, and I did not like it! Its for sale at The moment, but today when i tried it... Its not for sale anymore 😳😁! Either my nose take time or it is for The Maceration. I have experienced that before white many of my fragrances (50+)! So now i think i love it! The tip for today and for EVERY Day in The future PLEASE MACERATE your fragrance before you judge it! Love this scent! This wore perfectly at the sunny resort I stayed at these last couple days and absolutely pairs well with the warm tropical air. I’m not a frequent over-sprayer, but found this to be safe to do so due to the performance. I also feel like TF atomizers aren’t the best either as they spray so little. But regardless, if you’re an appreciator of scents that create good vibes, this is one for you.

I have been to fragrances for years and in my opinion this one is may be second to the Grey Vetiver EDP in terms of quality, uniqueness, and scents. I remember I was in the coffee shop and there came a woman told me this fragrance drives her crazy....I am not sure if it was a compliment but I am sure this parfum can do that. Please buy Tom Ford from reliable sources and you wont regret for the price.

Incense and olibanum marines is something I really want in mainstream, it's always a big pain for me when I realize how underrated they are. Costa Azzurra is like meditating on a cliff while incense you brought with yourself and salty smell of raging sea (with a seaweed) mix together. Parameters are average what makes the fragrance only worth buying on a discount or at the outlet store

Clean, juicy, sweet, smoky, woody. There’s so much happening here, yet no aspect of it feels to me like it’s overpowering. Blended beautifully and a great fantastic spring/summer frag. Owing to the seaweed, driftwood and oud, it has elements of Oud Minerale, but without the salt and being overly dry, which can make this a good replacement for those for whom Oud Minerale is too much.

For all the ingredients listed, this is very well blended. It’s marine, woody, citrusy, resinous, even a bit warm spicy. It’s not typical bright sunny beach fragrance, to me this is cloudy skies before a storm on a beach, in the Mediterranean,if that makes sense. This is a high quality fragrance that truly paints a beautiful image in my mind as I close my eyes and smell it.

I (female) have finally found my signature summer scent 😍 This is such a gorgeous citrus fresh aromatic and woody scent, with just a hint of vanilla sweetness. I don’t find it overly aquatic or masculine, but it’s of course far from typical flowery female scents. The cypress and citrus stands out in the beginning but it mellows down into this beautiful aromatic freshness.

Got the parfum a few years ago. Wanted a backup. Heard this was similar. Why wouldn't it be, right? It is. A little more citrus up top. Both are epic mens masculine summer fragrances. These aren't teen summer freshies. They are mens summer colognes. A wealthy smelling man on a white boat with a bright yellow sun gleaming down on him, from a sky with no clouds in sight.

I always loved the smell, but now I love it even more, because it reminds me about Rome! Pine trees are growing all around the city and the smell is devine! Costa Azzurra is indeed very Mediterranean kind of perfume. Imagine walking by Colosseum and Forum Romanum in the morning, the sun is coming through trees and ancient buildings with its golden color light.

I've been wearing this since TF removed it from their Private line. Love at first sniff. First frag that wowed me. Very much a compliment getter from the people you most intend to get a compliment from. Projects at least arms length. One of the few frags i don't feel the need to layer with something else. I prefer the Parfum, but i also like seeing the Juice.

A beautifully crafted fragrance that evokes a relaxed and blissful coastal escape. I get the dry, salty base which seamlessly blends with woods, delicate citrus, and spices. It doesn’t really scream summer; it’s sensual. Projection is modest, but longevity improves with extra sprays. Costa Azzurra exudes opulence, and it’s undeniably Tom Ford!😎

Its a wonderful scent for summer or all year if living in tropical climate.. For some reason Tom Ford changed the bottle from a cool carribean blue to what just looks more like a standard glass bottle but the contents are the same. It does not last very long even in a parfum but it smells so good, its not a bother to spray more as needed

Sends my mind straight to a Mediterranean summer day. A piece of magic in a bottle. At summer nights, I layer this on top of just one spray of Tom Ford Ombré Leather EDT on chest. See many complaints about this scent being week and having a lack of longevity. Not my experience. My bottle is my second one, and it’s about four years old.

Summer in Berlin, you seek a refuge from the heat amongst the animals, the trees, the rich Italians. Each pleasant morning in the garden a reminder of how much you care, each night after a few negronis, facing the canopy, a passionate reminder of how much you love. Relax, soak it in and tune out, the days are long but time is short.

After a few wearings I’ve really started to like this a lot. It’s mass-appealing and easy to wear. Great fresh out of the shower dumb-reach. It’s essentially a blue designer fragrance with high quality ingredients and a masterfully smooth blend. Only thing letting it down for me is performance, which is dismal.

Tried this in BKK Airport Duty Free. It’s pretty amazing, I immediately started to fall in love with the scent after the first few seconds and then kept on sniffing the tester blotter. Maybe the EDP version would be more bang for buck and also longer lasting. The bottle is gorgeous, like liquid gold.

I have both this one and the parfum version, this one seems like a more aquatic/less woody version of that. This would be nice for the daytime and the parfum for the nighttime. This line is fantastic, they’re like more elegant versions of Acqua di gio. Perfect for the hot weather, very nice. 8.5/10

This scent is wildly underrated. It’s virtually unisex and yet somehow sexy, uplifting, and inoffensive at the same time. You could wear this virtually anywhere in warm weather and feel a lift to your mood at the first whiff. It doesn’t last incredibly long, 4-5 hours, but it smells so good.

smells like my absolute favorite trader joe’s tangerine kefir water, with strong underlying notes of ginger and hearty woodsy notes. very fresh and citrusy zingy opening, and more woodsy and spicy on the dry down. beautiful unisex fragrance, just a little too pricey though.

This is a nice fragrance. It's not too strong, but not really weak either. Imagine you're walking in the afternoon on a sunny beach, that's what it smells like! I would say it smells like sweet oranges. Nothing else Highly recommended as a summer perfume. No-go for winter

It's a very fresh and pleasant perfume, perfect for summer. I can mainly smell aquatic notes, citrus, cypress, and woody notes in the background. It's a unisex scent, doesn't lean too masculine. The longevity and silage are good, standard for this line.

I sprayed it on a test paper at Dillard's. Smells old fashioned, clean fragrance with a leather undertone. It's piney-woody, I agree @adichowdhury. @DanelPutintsev It doesn't really smell like Sauvage. Sauvage had tons of ambroxan and bergamot.

I truly believe most of the people that complain about the lack of longevity is because the are not wearing it in the proper environment. In a mildly warm day, this one lasts on my skin at least 6 hours with very good projection.

This is soooo good. It has that rich "papery" quality found in so many Tom Ford fragrances, almost like a thick sheet of parchment. The incense and cypress combine to make me think of a chapel in the woods. I love this one.

this is a mix of adg profumo and a little bit of sunscreen, and it smells nice it hits you with a bunch of aromatics but sadly its not very potent, 4 hours 5 MAX out of this if you are lucky

This is a top notch scent. I love the way it transitions. Starts off citrusy then the incense starts to pop out. Then you start the best part the dry down of this fragrance. Beautiful scent

This stuff is the best. It's like summer in a bottle, with how all the citrus and woody notes blend together perfectly. Also, it lasts quite a while compared to other Tom Ford fragrances.

I bought this for my fiancé and it is such a nice, masculine scent—not yucky like some tend to be. I know it is supposed to be unisex but imho it is more masculine if not completely.
