Musk Pure

Classic white musk made pure and heavenly. Kinda perfect actually. As a lifelong musk fan I have tried countless options from drug store to niche even more pricey than this. For what I enjoy about white musk, TF nails it. Smooth, creamy and addictive. Not too screechy and laundry or hairspray like and it doesn't smell dated as white musk sometimes can. (SL Clair de Musc for example. I own it and find it very pleasing but feel self conscious wearing it around others because it really does smell a bit dated and The Body Shop White Musk like.) This doesn't smell like that to me. It just smells good and not really like "perfume" but like a clean and sexy skin scent. Lasts hours on me as well. No longevity issues whatsoever. It isn't supposed to project either, it is musk. Musk should be an intimate scent. Musk Pure lives up to its name being the most pure musk from the white musk collection. And for a simple classic white musk, it may be the fairest in all the land.

OMG wow. This is how musk should smell! Seriously the best kind of soapy, it's powdery, buttery, comforting kind of soapy musk that smells so luxurious. Best muks shelf right away - if it weren't soooo expensive! Pretty bomb lasting power too. LOVE it! I guess the honey adds to the oomph and sweetness but no real honey smell. I'm going to need to buy a scent that is similar to this without the price tag....if anyone has some good musk samples to swap (from bottle good too) hit me up, I have a tonne of samples to swap! (UK only) LOL AI picked up on that one urinal cake comment :D Well it does smell a bit of baby wipes - the good kind. But I love it :) Not sure what a urinal cake smells like but if it smells like this I'm rubbing it on :D

I can't believe the comparisons to Jovan and Alyssa Ashley! This is SO much more complex and interesting. 'Pretty' it is not, 'addictive', it is. I wouldn't even categorize it as a 'Floral Woody Musk'. It's got a much sharper edge to it, more Oriental, or even a Chypre. Incredible lasting power, too, which helps justify, somewhat, the outrageous price. Only the Montale Aouds can compare in intensity and strength. I was hoping Urban Musk would be equally intense with a little skank added, and I had high hopes for about the first 15 minutes. Then it pretty much disappeared, alas. Otherwise, I'd be out another $160 bucks.

I have a bottle I bought while travelling to New York in 2012 (along with White Suede and Noir de Noir) and I still have about 10ml left. It’s my favourite musk. Metallique has a similar opening but gets sweeter and has much weaker performance. I just received 35ml in decant and it’s the same and so darn beautiful. The only musk I like that is anywhere as nice is Mizensir’s Elixir de Musc (which is more Irisy and unisex leaning). I’m ecstatic to have more of it back in my life as she is beautiful ❤️

Soapy and sweet but really beautifully done. My wife and daughter told me that I smelled like I just got out of the shower in a Disney World hotel. It does have the high end soap smell but it starts to incorporate both the honey and musk as it drys down. The longevity on this is insane. Although the sillage drops to a skin scent after about 2 hours, the smell is still there about 12 hours later. I really enjoy this one and can see it being worn year round as an overall feel good scent.

Yea it smells like a very nice soap. I still like it. I would like to buy a bottle, if anyone wants to sell me theirs, please message me. I do have a mini 12ml bottle that came in a gift size three pack of 12ml bottles . It’s very cute . Like a mini version of the big one. I like collecting mini perfume bottles. And 12ml is actually alot.

In my opinion this one is unisex. I mostly use it for really close encounters in bed and it works magically.

This perfume is really good. Perfume version of Baby Powder. I don't understand why this is discontinued.

Let's just say this would make an amazing 'modernized' No.5 flanker.

My blind test review: Classic luxurious feminine scent with lots of powdery notes, slight soapy and “fatty” iris, some soft creamy jasmine, a bit if sweetness and, surprise-surprise, lots of musk. It’s nice and very radiant, but slightly old-fashioned. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Ok, so that might be a weird one. I'm not a musky type of scent person at all, but I love when smelling something takes me back in time, bringing vivid memories like I'd be watching a movie. Tom Ford's Musk Pure does it to me. When I first smell it on the skin, it made me feel of shopping in summer as a preeteen in nearby seaside town. Opening very musky, waxy, sweet, almost marcipany - made me think of a beach, sun, and weirdly beeswax candles. It turn me back time into those moments of travelling, being outside the house on my own for those first times, opening the window while mum's driving the car and letting the wind to mess my hair. Smells CLEAN. The more the scent was developing, the more I realised how much reminds me of Poland in mid-late 90s up to early 00s. I started picking up on lilly of the valley. Brought me back to this very eastern-european bazaar style shopping centre in my hometown, which was full of cosmetic, make-up, and household shops (with very specific smelling toilet cubes too). That reminded me how was it to smell it in the summer, wearing cheap sun protection cream, and buying my first cheap powdery eyeshadow, first hair dye colour in a plastic sachet, displayed amongst floral floor cleaning products. It's part of my youth living best life in summer, captured in a bottle. Now, I wouldn't wear it myself, as I find scents like that too overpowering to my liking - these days I prefer green and fresh scents. But I appreciate it for awakening so many memories I forgot of - that's my nostalgia 💛💛💛

Musk Pure is the only disappointment, so far, among the pack of samples from Tom Ford's Private Blend. I really think it should be called "Pure White Musk" because its keywords are soapy & clean, with a bit greasy feeling to let it smells thicker and more rounded than majority white musk scents on the market . There is no floral, no animal or what ever, and now I can hardly belive it's the same scent as others reviewed. This scent remainds me of a kind of soap here people would use many many years ago - it makes from pancreas of pig (or people just use pig pancreas instead of soap). It has the slightly greasy feeling naturally. I remember when I used it to wash my hands in my childhood, my hands then had the clean and little soapy smell just same as the Musk Pure.

immediate reaction was "this is a truly underachieving version of TF Métallique...womp womp". Métallique has a chic coldness that's a complete departure from every other fragrance I wear but its expensive, glamorous, important, formal energy is magnetic and enchanting. Musk Pure, in contrast, is like a generic bar of soap covered in face powder atop a piece of sheet metal.

It took me a few minutes to pinpoint what this smells like, but now I've got it! It smells like sneaker deodorant! Which actually smell like a slightly fresher version of talcum powder. There's just nothing else there.

It smells lovely, but what a price tag! Chanel N°5 Eau Première is cheaper, perhaps even better. If you are on a budget, this is similar to Alyssa Ashley Musk.

I really mean no disrespect to all the fans of this fragrance, but this really smells like a public restroom to me. Like, urinal cake city, heavy industrial cleaner, animalic piss, diaper pail liner, the type of toilet where you definitely hover and not sit. Again, I'm sorry. I apologize. I do not mean to offend. I'm fully willing to accept that the decant I got is bad or fake or wrong, seems unlikely, but sure, it's possible. I'm wondering if the seller I got this decant from gave me Metallique and not Musk Pure or, if like Metallique, Musk Pure seems to share some of these pissy, men's bathroom qualities that Tom Ford seems to love incorporating in his scents. This is a scent for rest stop crusiers with a wide stance.

Tom Ford’s Musk Pure is one of four of the 2009 Private Blend White Musk collection. To me it is something of a cliffhanger. What do I mean by that? Well it starts off rather generic fresh and boring and with a very acetate vibe radiating out in the opening. That I did not like at all. In fact, I thought my sample had gone off and turned. I was going to dismiss it and wash if off but got distracted by my morning routine and headed out to the Post Office to pick up a package from Paris. Thus, I forgot to give it the heave ho At about an hour into the life of the fragrance I noticed while standing in line at the Post Office that a warm and wonderful scent was wafting about me. I wondered what the woman in front of me was wearing and was about to ask her when I realized that it was my perfume that was delighting my senses. . I am glad that I ended up unintentionally giving it a chance to bloom on my skin. At that point when it began to reveal itself I was hanging on every moment of the development not sure just where it was going but hooked never the less for the duration of the adventure. A real cliffhanger! The fragrance opens with the top notes of Bergamot, pepper, and ylang-ylang. Where that acetate accord came from I can’t say unless the unfortunate smell is the result of those three notes? Who’s to say? I could just be my skin chemistry saying whoa wait a moment. If you too get that accord...wait a moment. The mid notes are where the magic comes in. Sambac Jasmin, Lily of the Valley (Muguet) a beautiful Oris butter that radiates warmth when it mixed with a golden bee’s wax note. I was simply stunned at this point and drove home in a delicious cloud. As beautiful as that first radiation that enveloped me was it was nothing compared to the dry down. This immensely gorgeous beauty last a ridiculously long time. I put it on at 8 am and it is now 10 pm and the dry down is ripe, warm, and hypnotic. This is NOT your typical laundry fresh musk. Here the Musk is baked with benzoin and a rather woody rather than vanilic tonka bean. I have spent the day discovering my wrist pressed to my nose repeatedly and smiling in delight at what this perfume does. It is enticing, delightful, and mysteriously compelling. It leads me on and on deeper and deeper into its warm beating beautiful heart. Musk Pure might just be my most favorite Tom Ford Fragrance. To me it is a day to night scent because the longer you wear it the more complex and mysterious it becomes Perfect for winter and fall in my estimation. Musks are a hard thing to pin down in description. They can be clean, animalic, pure, synthetic. They deal in intangible and often, things are described as "musky," so musk being called musky is not helpful. Musks seem to be personal and intimately interpreted, as if we don't all do that with scent anyway... Musk Pure opens with a sharp aldehydic Iris. Sharp, clean, and a touch screechy but not to the point of piercing your brain (like Lutens Iris Silver Mist.) The aldehydes are waxy on the surface, as if the candle wax has cooled at the core, but the top still slips under your finger. After the burst of that classic soapy clean, the settling iris blends thankfully well into a sweetened tonka bean. That gives a stronger floor from atop which the iris can dance and spin. The waxy root thickens about 15 minutes in and picks up a non honeyed, non funky honey comb. The feeling is like the bottled shaped wax candies you bite the tops off to get to the "drink" inside of it. It puts the coating on your teeth. It is extremely feminine at this point, and almost innocent, and here we get to the musk. In Musk Pure, I feel the musk to be one of want. A longing for someone, as if the scent wants you, yourself, to be pure in white waiting on your lover. It holds you above the temptations of others, even in your imaginations and dreams, both night and day. It stays persistent and delicate, intruding politely through its wearing. It makes you anxious, as you have to wear the perfect thing when your lover returns home. A soft dress tied with strings; pretty enough for any outing and, perhaps subconsciously, left tied in single knots. Drying down, Musk pure is a heightened second skin. Impossibly clean and enveloping of anyone near, a haze of femininity. A purity that may disappear if handled too rough. Iris and soap concealing the natural scent of her hair touching the base of her neck.

Musk Pure is the smoothest musk fragrance I have ever came across. I was never a fan of musk fragrances, although I have few different musk fragrances. Musk is the secret of the orient, so many sheikhs wear musk fragrances as signature. Real musk smells aggressive to my nose. But the smell itself is similar to Musk Pure. Musk is an aphrodisiac. Tom Ford wanted to create a scent that smells like skin. First spray, I was reminded of Helmut Lang EDC, also a scent that reminds me of skin. Some reviewers said that Musk Pure is the smell of sex. And what do I get? I always imagine a beautiful girl in white clothing sitting on the bed and looking up to you with a innocent look. Waiting to be touched. Waiting for some more. ...This is my imagination of Musk Pure. When I wear it, I feel like I am walking on clouds. It ́s so velvet. So intimate. The best Tom Ford so far. It was discontinued beacause good fragrances were bought only for special times, so nobody needed a backup and bought a another bottle. The market said we don ́t get profit and decided to stop the production. I got a full tester bottle. First formulation. Musk Pure doesn ́t stand for "Pure Musk", it stands for velvet musk, therefore flowery notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine and lily of the valley play a huge role. This is a different musk. This is the best designer musk.
