Neroli Portofino

tom ford neroli Portofino. it is one of the most popular from the tom ford prive line. some people say it smells like you are on a beach on a hot summers day and some people say it smells like toilet cleaner. some of the more new releases for the private line have disappoint me not smell wise but longevity wise. i hope this one will brake the pattern. also not smelling like toilet cleaner to me. lets get right in to it. scent: the opening is a light aromatic, citrus and floral. the top notes i get are lavender, orange and orange blossom. the strongest notes i pick up are orange and orange blossom. the orange blossom takes a hard hit in the opening with a heavy blast of white florals with a sharp under tone of citrus the orange note comes in alongside it to add some aromatic and spice notes as well as citrus. this is followed by the lavender and bitter orange note. the mandarin orange and the bitter orange meld together to form a fruity sweet and slightly bitter orange accord. lastly the lavender accord adds a powdery and slightly spicy floral aromatics to the background. the dry down is sweet, floral and aromatic. the notes i catch here are lavender, bergamot, orange blossom and amber. the strongest notes i get here are orange blossom and bergamot. both of these notes carry the same accords as the opening, with a bit more sweetness from the orange blossom. this is followed by the lavender and amber. the lavender still gives the same powdery, slightly spicy, aromatic touch. finally the amber adds a bit more depth and sweetness at the base. performance: initial projection is about 3-4 feet good but not amazing. the sillage is average with a scent trail which is noticeable. after a couple of hours this became a skin scent, with only a light projection, under a arms length, without a scent trail when to wear: neroli Portofino is a spring/summer scent but is best for summer. this scent is best suited for the daytime. this is a scent which can be worn dressed down, casually or dressed up and worm formally. from hanging out with friends to weddings, this scent will feel appropriate. it is also perfect enough to wear to the office. the best place to wear this fragrance is at the beach on a hot sunny summers day. blind buy: i wouldn't say this is a safe blind buy because of howe floral it is. some people might find this scent to floral. but if you like floral and citrus fragrances this one is for you but i recommend testing this first. final opinions: first i don't have any problems with floral scents but i personally really like this fragrance. all the notes complement each other perfectly with the citruses and the florals. this was a very pleasant wear for me this scent just reminds me of a hot summers day at the beach. although this scent is great it does have a downside to it. the longevity and sillage are not great, after a few hours this scent stopped projecting hard and became a skin scent with little projection. finally, although this is an designer private line fragrance the price is ludicrous, 130 euro in the tirane duty free for a 30 ml is crazy. although this fragrance doesn't have goof longevity and a crazy price tag i still think this fragrance is amazing and if you have the money for this one get it but i recommend trying it first. also if you think about getting it i recommend to get the 100ml because of the longevity. scent-10 longevity-5 sillage-5 price-1

Despite having just purchased a 100ml of this stunning fragrance, I understand the comparisons with 4711. Both fragrances are based around neroli and the traditional eau de cologne structure. Both are refreshing, beautiful scents that smell clean and energetic. But at the end of the day, only one is left standing. 4711 is fleeting, smells comparatively cheap, and performs poorly in all categories. In contrast, hot weather turns Neroli Portofino into an absolute beast of a fragrance. Neroli Portofino is not an original composition, precisely because it is structured according to a very traditional formula. That said, it is the best in its class, perfectly balanced, with very high quality ingredients. Beyond its tendency to gather an extraordinary number of compliments, Neroli Portofino is very versatile. It pairs well with jeans and a t-shirt, and will also match more elegant attire. Additionally, Neroli Portofino has an almost magical quality that comes out in the heat. Just like a few Acqua di Parma fragrances that I have reviewed previously, Neroli Portofino shines when the weather gets hot, increasing in projection, sillage, and duration. Oddly, when one begins to sweat many hours after application, the fragrance seems to reactivate itself on your skin, projecting strongly all over again. To put it simply, for those living in hot climates, Neroli Portofino is a perfect fragrance. In the heat, it smells watery (not aquatic), crisp, and clean - never overpowering, never offensive. As a bonus, it plays well with one's perspiration. Sometimes a person just wants to smell clean, fresh, and energized. In this area Neroli Portofino delivers masterfully. Pair with a shirt, comfortably unbuttoned at the collar, and your nicest and most genuine smile. Smell: 10/10 Longevity: 8-12 hours Projection: 2-4 hours Sillage: Moderate Compliment Factor: High If Neroli Portofino were a song, it would be "Knee Deep" by the Zac Brown Band.

Neroli Portofino: The Inconvenient Truth: The note pyramid listed is surely wrong, because for me at least, this has two primary ingredients, so skilfully blended I can't pick them apart: Love and Hate. In a beautiful turquoise bottle. HATE: the grotesque price. The sometimes pathetic longevity. The hype. The way that on the wrong days it can just randomly turn to straight citrus cleanser on me. How disturbingly like an ordinary cologne or a plain ol' lemon soap it can seem now and then. But but but.... LOVE: how it becomes something so drop-dead gorgeous on really hot days. Its unique sweet warmth underneath the sparkling freshness. How it makes me feel cool (in every sense), calm and competent. The way it can bloom into the essence of the most expensive Mediterranean luxury holiday I've (n)ever had. The fact that the first instant I ever smelled it I fell in love, and my nose told me -ordered me!- to work and save so I could seek it out, years and years before I knew anything at all about perfume, aeons before going full fraghead. I read so much here about 4711 I sought that out, but it really is not in the same league, even if you divide by 20 to account for the price. Now THAT, even though hugely refreshing, really is a sharp cleaning product that's gone in minutes. To me it's 4711 that is a pale shadow of TF NP, not the other way around. I will probably migrate over to Monegal Entre Naranjos, Bigarade Concentree or L'Erbolario or even Ferrari Bright Neroli for my next bottle of something citric... But until then, I'll savour every precious overpriced pretentious drop of Portofino, and will keep that beautiful empty bottle until I die, to remind me of what got me started on this insane lifelong quest for the most wonderful smell in the world. For all its many, many faults and its obnoxious reputation, I owe this scent a massive debt of gratitude. Tom Ford, I don't know whether to thank or curse you for that.

Technically, the fragrance excels in balance and finish. Projection is moderate but controlled, diffusion even, and the aromatic profile remains stable over time. What distinguishes it is not innovation but execution — a precise, texturally elegant rendering of neroli within a Mediterranean, saline-tinged atmosphere.

I wasn't fully aware that I love orange blossom as a note in perfume until I stumbled upon this beautiful emerald bottle with its rather sexual ad campaign. In fact, contrary to what everyone's been saying, I would definitely wear this to arouse my loved one, no doubt about it. Neroli Portofino may smell summery and clean, but there's something about it that puts a smile on my dial, makes my eyes roll back in my head and feel like a goddess both inside and out. Yes, Neroli Portofino smells like soap, but an expensive bar of luxury soap. I get a massive load of orange blossom in this fragrance complimented with a sweet and citrusy-green bergamot accord. To be honest, I find this fragrance sweet and feminine on my skin. I'm surprised that this is a unisex fragrance, however it may smell very different on a man's skin. Everyone's saying that Neroli Portofino is just an overpriced Acqua di Parma cologne. Really? I've smelt almost the whole range and I can't say that I found any of them as appealing as this. Colonia is a smooth, crisp lemon scent to my nose, no orange blossoms there I'm afraid. Give this fragrance to me wrapped in a big, white ribbon and I'll happily wear Neroli Portofino as my Summer signature. Even better, the longevity is superb, nothing like those Summer colognes that my skin enjoys eating until there's nothing left. I highly recommend.

I have a new favourite genre: beach resort nerolis. Sunshiny, citrus-leaning, with that little ghost of sunblock. (Though my current #1 is still Nitesurf Neroli by Regime des Fleurs). Neroli Portofino is a clear-sky lemon blossom, with a synthetic, sunscreeny undercurrent. It smells kind of cheap, but I mean that as the highest complement. (Awful ironic, considering its price). There’s this y2k mallrat texture about the aquatics; a summertime body mist with EDP performance. The whole vibe is femme-leaning in a sporty, tomboy way. Sampled this fella at a Duty Free shortly before a long-haul flight and couldn’t stop wafting my scarf the whole trip. Longevity is decent, at around ten hours in fabric. Less saccharine and fruity than Byredo's Sundazed, but close enough to be a cousin. Mental Snapshot: A Frutiger Aero aquarium screenscaver. The jungle inside of a Fiji bottle. Or the reef inside of a Softsoap bottle. When Glass Animals said “you taste like surfing videos,” I think they meant this juice. tl;dr: neon beach 🏝️🏝️

I know now a lot of Neroli Colognes over the last years and I can say: TF got the BEST Neroli Composition by now!!! Masterpiece! Still expensive? Get the Body Lotion or the Splasher.I got both! Combine it! The lotion lasts over 12 hours on me on a flight from Germany to Hong Kong and I am flowery-fresh scented after all. People loved sniffing on me. No one ever disliked Neroli Portofino on me. It is not sour or itchy in my nose like many other Neroli Fragrances. I get the Amber. Makes Portofino kinda sweet and misterious. Go. GET that high quality NEROLI PORTOFINO Scent! One more NOTE! I am from Cologne, Germany. I own that cheap 4711! Everybody here owns it! You can find it at any Shopcorner here AND HELL NO, IT IS A BILLION MILES AWAY FROM PORTOFINO! 4711 is a lime/lemon refresher after leaving the restroom to clean your hands or refresh yourself. Nothing more and no, not classy! Muglers Cologne is also totally different! Try it SIDE by SIDE! Muggles... scent: 9/10 longevity: 7,5/10 (BODY LOTION) sillage: 7/10

Very smoothly blended neroli and citruses just like it should be. Very close to creed’s jardin d’amalfi. They’re like 90% close, both are great quality, and neither are beast mode (honestly, such natural citruses are best when they aren’t too loud). That creed is in my top 3 summer scents but i always thought it leans very subtly feminine, because it has very mild undertones of rose. Neroli portofino is just that, minus the rose. In simple terms, NP smells like loads of sexy neroli combined with understated citruses tuned to perfection. That’s it. Rather simple and very very well blended scent. Creed’s price is much higher, it’s that golden fancy bottle series(can’t recall the name) and now I’m glad I found NP. Will probably rebuy this again cuz I can clearly see myself using it in my summer signature rotation in place of Creed now. Buy it, you won’t regret. Also yeah pretty blind buy safe also, as long as you’re not expecting zesty citruses. Have a great day!

This is well done Citrus-white floral fragrance that takes the best of both scent families with few if not any of the negative's you could associate with them, a true summer classic. this fragrance is quite self explanatory just by looking at the notes, its just a very well made bomb of florals and citrus that is blended quite well with still a little sharpness in-between to keep things lively. Silage and projection are medium/ok but I wish they were stronger. This scent definitely gives me vibes of northern Italy, specifically Liguria and Piedmont but its hard to say why, anywhoo's this fragrance is unisex and is good for the summer and spring, with all that in mind, the final verdict ill give for this fragrance is an 8/10, definitely one of my most enjoyed Tom Fords, but despite that I'd enjoy smelling this on someone else more than myself if that makes sense, (fragrance is still overpriced for what you get too imo, so keep that in mind).

Despite having a colder than usual summer this year, Neroli Portofino allowed me to still experience summer in a bottle. I normally don’t enjoy clean and fresh fragrances because they can feel too much like cleaning products. However; Tom Ford was able to achieve the perfect balance between crispness, fruitiness, and floral. It’s vibrant and effervescent; it reminds me of champagne on an Italian beach or something. Any time I travel to a beach destination, I’ve always found myself bringing this fragrance along. My only gripe with it, is its wear time - some days it’ll last hours and others it’ll only last one. I’ve been able to prolong its wear by applying a water based makeup primer to the areas I intend to wear it on and have noticed it’ll last on me eight+ hours.

This reminds me of a fragrance everyone I know was wearing in 1994 in Lugano, Switzerland. Very summery and fresh and clean, but not *cleaning products and laundry* clean. Just...swimming in a lake on a sunny day with turquoise water sparkling and sunkissed skin and a breeze that smells of citrus and orange blossom and honeysuckle. Just nostalgic and pretty and simple. The price is horrendous, and not in keeping with the longevity of this juice, so for that reason I tried Alhambra Porto Neroli. 1/10th the price and smells identical in the scent trail. Nose against skin its pretty different. I also recommend Lush Big body spray. These 3 are the same smell.

This is one of my favorite fragrances in my small collection. I typically find Néroli to be too sweet or too salty. This is the only Néroli fragrance I’ve ever liked. I agree with others that it dissipates after only a couple hours. However, even though I can’t smell it others tell me they can. I also feel it lasts long on clothing. Layering suggestions: Afternoon Swim, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, Lime Basil and Mandarin, Baccarat, I Don’t Know What. This was a repeat purchase for me because I love the smell. It does lend towards spring/summer but can easily go into fall layered or on its own on a sunnier day. Solid purchase in my opinion.

Warning: ONLY works in extremely high heat, and is extremely reactive to skin chemistry. The first time I tried this fragrance it was about 70f/20c out, and I did not like it at all. My girlfriend first smelled it on a testing strip, and thought it smelled faintly of urine. However, upon smelling it on my skin, it quickly became her favorite summer fragrance for me, and once I smelled it above 90f/35c, I loved it. Soapy, floral freshness that smells cheap and dated in mild warmth turns to pure luxury in intense heat. Truly elegant, but again, highly reliant on high heat for efficacy.

Very fresh, floral and citrusy. Bright and invigorating, the neroli in this is just gorgeous. I bought this whilst holidaying with my husband through the south of Europe and it fit the vibe perfectly. Perfect with a white linen shirt and sun-kissed, tanned skin. Update: I wore this at a hen's party on a boat on the weekend and the compliments kept flowing. All the ladies were asking what I was wearing and telling me how incredible it smelt. I made sure to tell them it's unisex so if they liked it, they should go get a bottle for themselves!

I loved it in the store and then when I took the bottle home I felt disappointed at an initial spray. Too much sunscreen, too basic, I thought. Then I wore it to the gym and the scent cut through the sweat and heat diving me a fresh and clean feeling. Having dripped in sweat, I smelled it again on myself leaving, and the deeper notes had come out. It’s more complex and lasting than I thought. Seemingly simple, and then darker and more unique. It reminds me of the summer day ending and the night coming in, watching the sunset over the water.

If God allows me to enter heaven, this is what I'd imagine it would smell like. Sillage, longevity and price aside. This is the first fragrance I could imagine the exact vibe it gives off. A road trip on the Amalfi coast on a hot summers day, sunglasses on wearing a blue and white striped linen shirt, driving in my open top Ferrari 250 GT with an Italian model laughing at my jokes in the passenger seat. Tom Ford really knows how to nail a scent and this might be his magnum opus for me

I tested yesterday at a Sephora. Just one spray at the back of my hand, it showed a superb longevity, 7 hours and I could feel it after shower. So fresh, clean and I loved the floral note. My wife liked but she said it was a bit feminine, I understood her but I believe that was the thing that attracted me on it. But the price for this is way overpriced. I'm gonna search for a dupe that has this floral note as close as possible. If I don't find, maybe someday, gonna buy this gem.

I've had 4711 and I've had the Ferrari and Al Haramain knockoffs. They're all very nice to own and you can dowse yourself freely with them. But I recently got a 2ml of this from the Tom Ford counter. The difference in quality and complexity was like going from 2D to 3D. This is much, much better. I think if aren't hurting financially and want a really nice experience, just treat yourself to the real thing. Also you can find for ~$60/oz USD via small trusted decanters.
