Oud Minérale

"Northern Hemisphere shore" fragrances are some of my favourites personally & this is now the replacement for TF Oud Minerale, bc these are definitely meant to be, Northern Hemisphere "shore" perfumes - neither are particularly, about oud - despite the Title of TF OM - tbh I think they use that in the Title at TF to try to market some of their perfumes at the price of some of their others, but.. hm.. This however has hit the Discounters - & is of excellent quality. "Happybone" - has pretty much said about TF Oud Minerale - what I & my Fiance would say about Wet Stone, Amouroud - & to me Wet Stone is the more than equal replacement for the original TF OM - (obvs you've tried the reformulated version at TF, oh dear!) - & to myself & my fiance; this - is far better than the much vaunted TF offering (which in First Edition was quite good, I will say, however, Not. Now. ) TF OM is now a watered down, lesser quality shadow of itself; they can keep it - ofc, the oud in wet stone is more subtle💫 - & to me much more in keeping💫with the perfume, although it is definitely there - neither💫of them are particularly about oud💫per se, & weren't meant to be despite the Title of the former - but both are as said - more of a Northern Hemisphere shore aura - however, the oud is not missing in WS, not at all - just more subtle💫& far more💫skillfully blended💫(I will say though - if you cannot smell oud in the WS - then💫your nose was sadly damaged🙈🙈 - by all the less subtle oud heavy perfumes that have hit you in the nose like brick repeatedly, (& maybe be subsequently numb) but am not fond of that "style" of perfumes, at all - the oud in WS is pretty good; & is thankfully slightly more subtle than TF; bc I thought it was a little too much in the First Edition version; but does still smell of high quality in WS (although bottles of the Amouroud are avaliable at just under £92 - at TK Maxx UK website, hurrah(!) - & are far more "worth it" than the Reformulated TF - probably more so that ANY current/reformulated⚠️ TF tbh, from what I hv smelled at their counter recently.⚠️) Plus - the gentle sage💫& other shore like accords in this are rather lovely💫on a man too - my fiance wore this, the other day & I thought it smelled particularly polished💫 & somewhat stylish on him - but then he usually is, full stop & has rather excellent taste in perfumes & clothing - this had lingered💫on his shirt, & must have "rubbed off" onto the sleeve of his suit jacket; so I could smell it when I opened one of the wardrobes yesterday, & paused to admire it fully💫 A winner, I think.. (although the less ppl that wear it the better for him/me(!) ofc - stick with the formerly half decent brand if you must, more for us, & exclusivity is never a bad thing.) My fiance used to wear the original TF Oud Minerale occasionally💫) but frankly, I tested the reformulated version💫 a cpl of weeks ago; & it's a huge no from both of us, & x 100ml of Amouroud's WS will be taking it's place, courtesy of the famous discounter (he bought one - but I went back again, hoping for bargain cashmere sweaters - & hv quietly/sneakily put another in his Christmas stocking - which he will recieve when we open our presents (in Christmas Eve as per our Fine Tradition) since he's been v good this year. Fresh, beautiful, & present, this is - & lasts well; although it has a💫wonderful subtlety💫& depth, about it, which tends to be lacking in the TF offering - no matter how much they dilute it, the blending💫& notes here are excellent💫 (Note - Nothing about WS is "Designer-esque" or "Not Niche"💫 - & anybody clinging to the TF name in all it's diluted, mass marketed - & espc marketed towards East Asia, not that watering everything down is any good to East Asian ppl either, nobody likes poor quality mediocrity) - & thinking this or another such House cannot equal or better💫any of it, should give this a week's test - certainly a few others are playing the game far better than the jokers who own TF these days.

No similarity to Oud Wood whatsoever, for those who are expecting a follow-up (or a flanker) to that fragrance. Oud Minérale has a very oceanic feel to it (not to be confused with "aquatic"). It's a sort of salty, spicy, peppery, seaweed-y, and almost metallic scent. In a way, it slightly reminds me of James Heeley's Sel Marin - if you know that one, Oud Minérale will feel strangely familiar. I don't get much oud in this one - oud plays a very distant role somewhere in the background, and it's more of a polished, clean, transparent oud, not the strong aromatic kind (or the velvety clean and smooth like in Oud Wood). The oceanic vibe is definitely there, front and center. Up-close, if you sniff Oud Minérale on your arm, it has more of that mineral feel to it, as if you were sniffing crushed up quartz and other mineral-rich rocks, on a scorching hot day, baking in the sun all day. That juxtaposition of oceanic, salty/spicy feel, vs crushed hot mineral rocks, is what this fragrance is all about. Not so much about oud. If you like the scent of cold salty ocean-side pier repeatedly sprayed with sea water - I think you'll like it. Completely devoid of sweetness. It's arid, like salty-dry air near the ocean on low-humidity day, and rather chilling and cold. Very loud and strong, and lasts well over 12 hours on skin - beastly performer! Even when you think the top has settled down and it's not as loud, it comes back to you over and over again, for many hours, and people around you will definitely notice this one many hours after application. I've been told, after 4-5 hours of spraying it on, that it's very strong (I could definitely smell it myself, but it didn't "feel" that strong to me, after being subjected to it for a few hours already). But thankfully it's not cloying. After wearing Oud Minérale, I'm pondering what the next release, Oud Ocean, will be like. Even more "oceanic"?? Hard to imagine, after this. Oud Minérale is on one hand not what I expected (that strong "Sel Marin" déjà vu), but on the other hand - it is pretty true to its name - the mineral portion definitely comes through strongly, especially if you sniff the sprayed area up-close, just don't expect a whole lot of oud.

Finally managed to score an original 250ml of this juice . So far I only had experience with the signature line version , which I quite liked. Update soooooon .... I got a few bottles from TF but Could potentially this be my new second favorite Tom Ford ? Current TF top list : No1 Tuscan leather ( got the OG 250ml when it came out ) magic juice to my nose No2 Noir Anthracite , again , magic juice. Update: It just arrived! 🤓👌🏻 First impressions: Since all my atomizers are in use, I had to go savage and dab it on straight from the 250ml bottle cap 😬🤷🏼. The scent is subtle but definitely not weak—fresh, but without any sweetness. It’s working its magic... I’m already at the beach in my mind. Update 2: The TF atomizer finally arrived, and life is good! 😂 I've been wearing this fragrance non-stop since the day I got it—even to bed. 🤷🏼♂️ I also picked up 10ml of the new Signature version, and they are definitely different, especially in the opening. I'm not sure if it's due to the aging process or a reformulation, but the original smells more refined and, well, perfect from the start. The new release has a much harder, almost "greasy" opening that feels like something is missing. It's harsher and rougher initially, but after about 45-60 minutes, they become very close. This might change as the fragrance matures, but I'll stick with the original Private Blend version. With 250ml, I doubt I'll ever need a backup bottle. I won’t dive too deep into a full review since there are plenty out there, but to me, this scent is perfect—a true work of art. It’s easily in my top 3 Tom Ford fragrances. Salty and dry, it’s not overpowering but still long-lasting. Classy, elegant, and far from a people-pleaser. It’s probably Aquaman’s favorite juice. Living in the U.K., it’s the perfect rainy day fragrance, and needless to say, I’ll be wearing this all year round. 🤓 Update3: Compliment day: The girl behind me in the post office queue asked about my fragrance, and then another one at the gym did too. I’m starting to think this frag might have a secret ingredient—just a dash of "freshly squeezed effort."

The first time I tried it in store, INSTANTLY I had an image in my head: you're giving a ride to a hot priest (yes I know I've got some issues☺️) in your brand new Cadillac with a beige leather interior... For two days I kept driving back and forth, obsessing over whether I should cop it or not (not even knowing it was possibly being discontinued). I felt like the scent was so odd, and so masculine, how dare I fall for this?! Well, I bought a 30ml bottle, which will hopefully last me forever. OM is so beast, I hardly need one third of a spray on one wrist to last me all day. The imagery hasn't changed much, although I eventually pinpointed precisely what core memory this fragrance evoques to me. Turns out, it is exactly how I remember the interior of the parsonage (presbytère in french) in Sainte-Ursule QC where I did all my catholic sacrament preparation courses in the 90s. This perfume smells like sanctity, like noble sentiments, like one's precious and secret covenants with G-d (whichever you prefer). It has the appeal of something greater than mere life on earth. Truly a masterpiece, but definitely not for the amateur nose. What a mysterious creation, that keeps you on your toes! This is not for the people pleasers! The man who wears this, if he's not a perfumisto, chose this edp because of its unique aura. He prides himself in being different. I think this could be a very nice gift for a clean metalhead, the one who's a dentist or a chiropractor maybe, who sometimes headbangs on the weekends, not the kind who rents a basement, orders in every night and plays WOW while blasting Children of Bodom when he's off from his shift at the videogame store. Because this is a classy, loud but demure, respectable, curated olfactory 'look'! 10/10

Dark Adventure - or possibly even Grim or Fey. Just trying a decant now - so far I give it a high rating. I have not ranked the longevity as I've only been wearing about an hour, but it's still there. The primary scent I get is driftwood, with a salty marine smell in the background, but there's also an undertone note that I can't place that is a that cuts the salt a notch to great success. Absolutely not a "Tropical Beach" - more of a Fall/Winter Seaside vibe, exactly what I've been looking for and what G&B Pacific Beach Moss isn't. The latter being on my mind since I tried it earlier this morning. Oud Minerale is rather sophisticated and "Deep", rather than a "Freshie" Aquatic. EDIT: Longevity was more than 8 hours. Here is the essence: "Standing on a seaweed-strewn shore of the North Atlantic next to a large branch that dried up on shore after floating in the Ocean. Not too far away is a dock, with a working boat - not a yacht, but a lifeboat or tugboat - being refueled with diesel." Sadly, my wife and female assistant can't stand it. They claimed it filled the room, and in fairness I felt the projection quite strong as well. I thought it was fantastic and brought back memories of working on the pier in the Autumn as a teenager in New England. Time/Date: This is a great fragrance for an outdoor event or date, but I would be cautious of wearing it in the Office or confined space. I'd say Fall/Winter, but equally night or day. To me it suggests a dangerous adventure or even a sense of deep resolve. Conclusion: If you want the Scent of the North Atlantic Oceanside and not Hawaii, Caribbean, South Seas, or Med Vacation, this is pretty darn close. It's like Marmite - you love it or hate it.

I love this juice..... the flinty & mineral marine accord is so well interpreted. Cold & steely with that seaweed saltiness you get from the sea spray on a Cornish beach on a crisp early spring morning ..... it’s superbly captured here without doubt. It’s an odd one though; incredibly linear and outrageously long lasting, which given how ‘light’ it is, is an incredible achievement by Maisondeau. As others have mentioned, the Oud in here is a little bit synthetic but actually, it sits very nicely within this particular composition. I do suspect though that I’ll never buy another bottle of it because as much as I like wearing it from time to time, it does get a bit......well, boring actually, just simply because of its huge longevity and linear nature. It doesn’t evolve; it doesn’t do anything but be there, just the same as when you first applied it. Don’t get me wrong; I’m really pleased I own it and I’ll always come back around to it in late spring & summer but it doesn’t excite me like others do. It kind of leaves me scratching my head a bit.... I don’t quite understand why I really love when I put it on but I do regardless! It’s almost not a fragrance..... more of an experience or an olfactory snapshot of a beach ‘moment’.

Simply outstanding. It smells like someone put the beach in a tuxedo and sunglasses - marine and salty, but with heady depth and a deeper, darker edge. Though I primarily treat it as a nighttime fragrance, it's flexible enough for daytime use in more buttoned-up settings, and while it's best from spring to fall, I've worn it in the dead of winter to great effect. Performance is excellent, with 10-12 hours common on my skin. I'll spray it on at night and still smell it clearly the next morning. It's pricey, no doubt, but its uniqueness and longevity will justify the price for some. Not everyone will enjoy the heavy and in-your-face character of salty seaweed and wood, so it's definitely not a blind buy, but those who like it will really like it. As a lover of beachy/marine scents, this hooked me from the first spray, and I can't think of many fragrances that I enjoy more. A significant signature scent candidate for me. As a fun aside, my first test-run of Oud Minerale was a classy night out with friends. After an hour or two, one of them mentioned that she wanted to stand next to me and smell me all night after demanding to know what I was wearing - if that's not a ringing endorsement of a fragrance choice, what is?

One of my favorite perfumes ever.. I hated it at first, it’s so peculiar that something about it stayed in my mind after trying it and I had to buy it. I could only think, why do I hate it but I’m drowned to it? To translate the fragrance into words: a bit of gasoline, salty ocean air, pebbles (the rocks, it smells like rock minerals!), some noticeable oud and dry paper. Yes, that’s it for the first few hours, like a seashore that has been contaminated by oil during wintertime. Sillage is controllable from good to excessive depending on how much you spray, TF sprayers are like spits iykyk, longevity 8 hours. After the 3 hours mark (this would be relative to you bc my skin drinks perfumes), it’s a dry salty breeze of ambergris/ambroxan, the pebbles are still there and possibly calone or melonal (a little bit melony). It can get you compliments back and forth because it smells amazing from afar to the untrained nose. it’s an excellent signature scent because no one else will be using it, even more now that the resort version is getting slashed also.

We have the Sole di Positano, the mandarino di Amalfi and Oud Minerale, which should have been called Mare di Cetara or Vietri, to give a better idea of what it really is. I specify these two areas, because in the small coastal beaches the sun goes away earlier in the summer as they are exposed, and already at 4 in the afternoon there are shaded areas at sea. And this is exactly what this scent evokes, getting out of the salt water and resting on the "beach" of stones in the shade dominated by the characteristic plants of the Mediterranean scrub that fill the air with their scents. So it tastes of SEA and is very distant from classic Oud, if not for a hypothetical woody * mineralized * like a log brought ashore by the sea, then a reinterpretation of the classic oud theme that would explain its name. Not exceptional performance, certainly not worthy of the tag. It is not clear to me if it is out of production as it is on various platforms but not on the house website; Not bad, it has some alternatives such as Aqva by Bvlgari (less salty)

A Tom Ford take on oudh with marine notes that is -- awesome! And oozes class! If by marine or seaweed notes you immediately conjour Acqua di Gio pour homme or L'eau d'Issey, you would be off the mark. This is not the ephemeral, Calone-inspired, sea breeze-tinged fragrance of yesteryears. Rather a new take on oudh. An odd combination really. And rather way out on left field. It stands out because it is so unexpectedly delightful. It basically is not meant to work well, this combination. But it does, surprisingly! On first sniff you get a green/ spicy/ vegetal whiff that connotes driftwood or seaweed or the salty tang of the ocean. It is not sharp. More rounded, but has an edge. There is a touch of earthiness in it -- like vetiver. The smokiness and medicinal aspect of the oudh is not front and center. Rather it muted, made to play in the background. What you get is a marine-inspired oudh fragrance that is imminently wearable, versatile, refined, and well-behaved. Sillage is good. And this is not too dark to wear, even in Spring. A++

This is without a doubt my absolute favorite Tom Ford Fragrance. The minute I put it on I am transported to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the sky is gray, the wind is blowing and the ocean is creating a mist that gently lands on face and skin. This fragrance, in my opinion is a masterpiece and there is not another fragrance out there like it. The Acqua Di Gio marines are much more sweet and less salty. The salty works masterfully here in this fragrance. I have been told the reformulation is NOT as good as the original private blend. I have the private blend and I can tell you this fragrance lasts a long time and has super projection. It peaks people's interest because it is so unique. The oud in this really shines through way down in the fragrance mixing with the salt and the marine smell, it is some kind of good. It is a masculine scent in my opinion and when you wear it, wear it with confidence and be ready to answer the questions about what it is you are wearing. It is, for me a compliment getter.

All the summer tourists have gone. The once-filled beaches, shops, and streets become quiet. The weatherman says a storm approaches from due west. Sea birds tumble and glide above, as a flock of geese floats toward southern skies. Wood-burning stoves are puffing across the coast leaving a faint comforting smoke. The sky is grey with a turbulent ocean that carries whitecaps to the horizon. This beach is completely covered in stones worn smooth from countless cycles of the tide. The clear dark water is low waiting for the ocean to reclaim this space in a few short hours. Rising from the crashing waves a solitary monolith of light slices through the mist. A phantom foghorn calls out as the sirens once did. The breeze picks up, weaving through the tall damp pine trees. About 100ft from the shore an Osprey dives into the water. In place of the fish hawk a beautiful woman surfaces. She is moving her mouth but I can't understand. Her pale white hand waves me toward the surf, and I obey.

This is my first marine oud. It's truly gorgeous. I agree that it is quite easy to distinguish the sea notes, sea salt and the oud itself is quite strong. The oud opens up beautifully and is not too overpowering. It is not dirty, nor animalic, nor medicinal. I however decided to sell my partial. It is a beautiful synthetic oud, but nevertheless I currently have a lot of oud in my collection. I give my preference to Diptyque's Oud Palao (dirty animalic oud) and the oud by Sarah Baker called Loudo (gourmand oud with chocolate). In addition, I decided I will be hunting Sarah Baker's Gold Spot and Nasomatto's Black Afgano (my wish-list for ouds currently). I like this TF's oud, don't get me wrong, but I simply prefer other, more sophisticated and more unique ouds. Even Oud Monarch by Bortnikoff which I sold, is a more sophisticated oud to me, because it features unusual florals (such as frangipane) and is overall a very unique well-blended, hard to replicate, composition.

Decided to switch perfumes mid day. It’s a cloudy, cool summer day that feels more like Fall weather, so I decided it would make sense to spritz Oud Minerale. I think this is one of Tom Fords best offerings: a realistic cold, ocean smell with salt, seaweed and minerals. Recently I bought a full size bottle after pining for this fragrance for more than three years. Reading that it’s on the chopping block inspired me to hunt it down. Luckily I found it for a great deal from a Canadian retailer. The review directly below mine is extremely accurate. This is an anti-perfume (love that description!) and is full of contradictions; feels natural but is full of synthetics. A mish-mash of odd notes that somehow works. When I wear it, I feel it... taste it even. There’s a metallic aspect to it that makes my teeth tingle. With decent projection, those around me are always intrigued. This is my second review. Thanks to dadudelebowski for reminding me why I love it too.

Bought an old (frosted) bottle of this for a future vacation based on the notes/reviews and I am thoroughly impressed. It smells like you think it should and the previous reviews nail it. Like the beach/woods just after initial rainfall. Wet wood, light spice, aquatic, ozonic and salty. I cannot stop smelling myself! I understand why TF releases like this get discontinued, they are the ugly cousins. HOWEVER, They are also, for me, the absolute best. Basically, this was never meant to be a universally loved fragrance. What this is, is a statement and an exceptional one at that. In summation: I love this. Not a mainstream scent, although, I do believe it is approachable. So not a blind buy, if you can find it. I see this as a year round fragrance but likely more favorable for warmer temps. Will likely be my go to special, summer fragrance. If you want a summer scent that smells fantastic and unique, go right ahead.

This is it. This is the ocean fragrance I've been searching for. It isn't a sedate, sunny day at the beach; it's getting lost in the woods at the top of a cliffside beach while a hurricane pelts you with raindrops that might leave bruises and the underbrush scrapes and stabs at your limbs through the rain-saturated clothes that cling to your body like plastic wrap. The opening is like getting slapped in the face with a spray of sea mist inexplicably mixed with droplets of gasoline; it's a distinctly ugly scent, but it's intoxicating. The whole thing is salty as hell. I love every stage of it. There's a barely-there hint of sweetness to it. and that's exactly how much there should be. It reminds me of the smell of very wet, very old trees you get walking through the woods after a prolonged downpour. This is not the kind of perfume you wear for compliments; you wear it for yourself. It makes me feel more like me.

Tom Ford - Oud Minerale is my all-time favorite fragrance. There is nothing else like it out there, at all. Here is how I would best describe Oud Minerale: Imagine yourself at the beach...but not just any beach. Imagine yourself at a Pacific Northwest beach where the weather is overcast, the temperature is a brisk 50F degrees, the wind is blowing and there is a bit of mist in the air. Now as you approach this beach there is driftwood with some algae growing on it. That is the picture that Oud Minerale paints for me. The oud note is not powerful at all. There is definitely a strong salty/marine accord. One thing that really surprised me is the leather note that I get. For some reason it reminds me of a new car leather accord. The dry down is much more linear and loses that salty/marine notes. Please give this beauty a chance. It is NOT what you would expect from anything with the word 'Oud" in its name.

There are endless hoards of fragrances that emulate the vibe of the hot beaches of the Mediterranean, Tropics, Southern California, but not a whole lot that evoke images of the cold, rugged, dramatic northern coastlines that are just as beautiful, if not even more. This fragrance reminds me of the Northern Californian coastline of Sonoma and Mendocino so vividly, in all it’s dark, nostalgic and melancholic beauty. Oud Minérale creates images of salty sea water, wet emerald seaweed, smoldering beach bonfires, the dusty mineral smell of sand, driftwood drying in the sun, abandoned cars rusting in the surf and oceanic decay. To me this fragrance has a dark sadness to it that I find absolutely beautiful. Sure, you could justifiably compare this to fragrances like Bvlgari Aqva, but if you can’t also see the stark differences between the two, then I don’t know what to tell you.

This is fantastic. A great lighter alternative to Oud Wood, but don’t let that fool you – this one lasts. I get 10+ hours longevity with 3 sprays to the chest and 2 hours of solid projection. This performs insanely well for me, and seemingly clings onto clothes for an indefinite amount of time (if unwashed obviously). Try spraying half your routine before work and half after to get beast mode performance. It is light enough to work as a signature scent, but bold enough to make you feel like the boss. It doesn’t evolve much throughout its wear, but I’m ok with that as what you get is simply sublime. Highly recommend giving this one a try if you want something bold that you can wear every day anytime of the year (best for Spring through Fall). Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 8/10 (6 hours) Overall: 10/10

I joined Fragrantica to just say how much I adore this perfume. Ocean: salt, cold air, seaweed, and freshness, a bit woody in the dry down to balance the notes, long-lasting, projects well. I just love everything about it (11/10). Also, I need to write about some other perfumes here as far as I am writing: TF OW (10/10, I love the balanced warmth and sweetness of this one), Clive Christian X for men (10/10, it takes you on a long journey of different aromas at different times of the day so it is like you have put 4-5 fragrances on, and it is a very beautiful journey), Oud for Greatness Initio (10/10, smells magnificent, long-lasting, great projection), Clive Christian Matsukita (9/10) Do not waste your money: Kilian line (spicy booze, dislike, nothing unique), Memo line (a copycat of other fragrances)

The flying Dutchman. Have you ever wondered how the Davy Jones and his ship smell? the answer is like Oud Minerale; this juice belong to sea like davy in a cursed way in a opposite way to a oriental oud smell who can be associated with a "standard" pirate. Fantasy comparison apart its hard to imagine this perfume without try it, it can have multiple intepretation anyway for sure its not an easy wear and definitely not a safe blind buy (also because its out of production). First one i can say this smell like a big trunk (oudy) coming back to seashore after a storm, the beach its not sandy but a little stone and shells beach (in fact a Mineral thing); because this have a Acquatic base full of salt with a aromatic woud thing inside, overall dont have a big evolution. continue...

This is one of the scent profiles I’m looking for. An extraordinary scent that sets your mood and takes you to a time and place that you’ve been or you’ve never been before. Yes, it’s confusing that’s why I love it. As it’s aroma lingers, I could imagine I’m on the sea shore, a beach resort, or a light house. This is not something that I will wear as part of my regular grooming but I’ll wear this to enjoy the scent bubble it creates around me that stirs my imagination. Purely for my personal olfactory pleasure. Definitely a Spring and Summer scent 😎 “Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏 10/10 for uniqueness and artistry 🧑🎨

I keep coming back to this. It's the perfect salty fragrance to me, without any citrus that may turn it into cleaning solution. It's fresh, but doesn't limit itself to summer. I do like Sel Marine and A'mmare as well, but I feel that this one does the 'straight out of the sea, seawater clinging onto your skin' much better. Not in a sunscreen, bright summer vacation, beer-commercial way; like in a realistic memory of feeling the salt and sand in the wind, of standing in the coastside, when the sun isn't as scorching and blinding. I am an avid sea lover and this really makes me happy, because whenever I am unable to go for a while, for whatever reason, smelling it transports me right back. It's almost magical to me. It truly is really, really lovely.

I am not into marine/aquatic/ozone-style fragrances. They just don't do anything for me. The Tom Ford perfumes that I love and adore are along the lines of Shanghai Lily, Noir de Noir, Vert D'Encens and Champaca Absolut (to name the main ones, but there are others...). Why on earth then should I fall in love with Oud Minerale? It makes no sense to my taste/choices - and yet I love it so much. I've tried to break it down to understand and I don't. All I can think is that the oud underneath the ocean draws me in. Sometimes you have to stop thinking so damned much and just realise that you love something and are seduced by it and why does it matter that it doesn't fit your specific mould? That's what this fragrance is to me, gorgeous and unknowing.

fell in love with it pretty quick. it's super soft. doesn't feel like a harsh smelling salt. there is a mild sweetness from what i imagine is the ambergris. very nice for a wet-ish day. i could see myself wearing it in the summer but the mood it produces feels more appropriate for a lush, grey day. not offensive at all. the only other marine fragrance i've smelled is MMM sailing day. any 'seaweed' smell this gives off is a lot more toned and feels like it's been blended more nicely. perhaps i'm biased with the price/house differences. i see this as a blind buy. singerfox painted a nice image of this being a yacht club smell. i feel like i'd smell this in a dark, brisk, granite hotel lobby.

I appreciate this fragrance a lot, as this is probably one of Fords underrated masterpieces in regards to perfumery. It reminds me of why I like fragrances. Oud Minerale transports me to the Santa Monica pier, where you catch whiffs of seaweed, sand, wet rocks and soaked boardwalk wood. Its a cool and moist scent that can come off as pungent. What I enjoy most about it is the smell of wet stones that coexist with the smell of minerals - or of wet granite that has drifted ashore. Synthetic in nature, but at the same time very natural smelling, all most an anti perfume, as it smells so austere and raw. A scent I don't necessarily have to own, but one I can respect. Anchors Aweigh.

A salty dog scent. The dark, seaweed laden sea churns around the skeleton of a ship, the beams sticking up like a ribcage toward the iron sky. You watch from a slick mossy rock, breathing in the salt mist. "Aye, a storms a brewing" Not photorealistically-it doesn't actually smell like the sulphurous, fishy sea-but that is the feeling it gives. It still smells like a sexy cologne. Woody, salty, cold, and wet. Fresh, but somehow gloomy. Not the citrusy, turquoise sea scents you are used to. Definitely leans masculine in traditional terms, but a fresh dark scent is so hard to come by, so goths of all genders who get headaches rejoice!

Maybe my favorite fragrance of all time. I searched forever for a new bottle and managed to find one after almost a year of looking as I don’t really trust eBay. This captures the realistic mist of waves crashing against a break wall on a cold winter day. Refreshing in the strangest sense possible. Classy and sophisticated yet artistic and unique. You will not smell like anyone else in the room with this. It captures positive attention but not like a traditional cologne. Most compliments have been more along the lines of something smells really good but they have no idea it’s a cologne

Immediately gives me stones, rocks, salt, masculine but interesting and I have only smelled similar with Olm by Zoologist, only this one is way more palatable. I don't really understand the hate, it's like being on a rocky beach when it's cloudy. The seaweed thankfully isn't fishy or green, it's definitely more iodine-like. It could be quite a beast with a huge reach so I wouldn't drown myself in it, personally. Softens pretty quick from that very strong astringent blast the first 10 minutes. Adore! Can't wait to test this out longer.

I have a decant of this fragrance. It's one of my favourites! I am a surfer for 25+ years so it reminds me of what I smell like after a surf session (less woody notes, more of the salty marine notes). I feel refreshed and strong when I wear it. 1 or 2 sprays max for me. It's a very masculine scent. I also really like the newer release of this as well. I think it's good to own both versions of this fragrance. Tom Ford is all about quality and this scent has a smooth and well rounded profile overall with a subtle salty vibe.

As soon as I smelt it I sighed a sigh of relief, and felt instantly euphoric. This even helps with my anxiety disorder and is just so comforting. It starts off with this salty marine accord supported by woodsy tones and seawood, you won't find any pure oud here, but more of a salt covered subtle oud, it makes me think of a grim stormy beach on an overcast day strolling along as the waves crash in and slowly push and swirl seaweed along the beach. An incredibly relaxing scent and I will be buying a 250ml soon.

Imagine bvgari Aqva Pour Homme on 1970’s (arnold swarchenegger horse steroids.) -in a good way.. don’t worry ya’ll it f’ing lasts.. -BTW, Everyone doesn’t know what to say anymore except for the following; -longevity -maceratioN - sillage -etc... If you’re getting laid on a regular basis (and you’re not a perfumer or youytuber) then you wouldn’t give a fuck.. That or you’re actually in for the “art.” It’s good, overlooked and I can guarantee you it will be discontinued soon. Grab it while you can.

I love this fragrance, but was concerned that the new Resort Collection edition may have changed or diluted the scent. Today I wore the older Private Blend edition on one wrist, and the new Resort Collection edition on the other wrist. Despite expecting and trying to find differences, I have to admit that I didn’t detect any difference between the two in terms of either the scent or its performance. The packaging may be a step down, but the perfume itself to me seems just as gorgeous as before.

My first experience with Oud Minérale was on a beautiful, gifted Turkish towel a friend mailed me from Seychelles. He had sprayed the towel generously and upon receipt weeks later, I fell deeply in love with this beautiful fragrance. I now have 2 of the frosted bottles, & I wear this in the summer mostly. I am a woman. Yes this is probably masculine, but I love this on my skin. It is sexy on me, in a skinny-dipping in the ocean all day, hot/wet/salty/sandy skin, bonfire at sunset, kind of way.

WOW. Truly a masterfully done fragrance that gives the sensation of an overcast partly cloudy day at the ocean. Walking along the beach smelling the sea breeze with a most wonderful hypnotic effect of mineral notes, woody drift wood, and ambergris. It is fresh, somewhat of an aquatic sea side/beach scent, yet woody and complex. I love wearing this. I am female. (fyi - this is somewhat similar to Sydney Rock Pool, but w/o the coconut and very light floral notes)

Many compliments, women love this.. they find it unisex, to me this is uber masculine. Gasoline note with a salty, mineral undertone and oud. Yes, it has oud.. smells like a sea port. It's almost linear until the oud disappears after 2 hours, then it's mostly a breeze salty mineral scent. I got the old version but if the new one is similar, this is well worth the $.. it's unusual and you're not going to smell like anybody else.

Except for Tobacco Vanile (I cannot stand vanilla in a fragrance), I thoroughly enjoy all tom ford releases. This one is a hidden gem and I am glad I bought a 15ml sample. On me it smells like Lalique Encre Noire, mixed with sea salt. Rotting bark in a forest that starts very close to the sea, so it gets constant salty sea wind. I definitely recommend this for summer if you want to stand out from all the Blue de Chanels.

Imagine it is a pleasant sunny day, sand under your feet, the breeze blowing, and you step into the waves. Oud minerale' is an apt representation of the Sea, it smells like fresh seawater, and it reminds me of Dubai beaches, and I love that. Great scent for summer. this aquatic offering by tom ford is not sweet like those bvlgaris. this is unique and smells better in air. 7.5/10

I definitely get the marine part of this fragrance, but it isn't a beach, it's more of a yacht club scent. Somewhere on a lovely wood dock. The interesting thing is it also smells like the incense in a cathedral or church, but higher quality or an older edifice. Brings a sense of calm and wonder when wearing it. Lasts forever, well into the next day, major plus.

The opening is a bit harsh and polarizing with the smoky salty leather gasoline feel but after about 30 minutes everything comes together beautifully.There is a slight sweet coconuty undertone that creates a smooth balmy beachy impression. The juxtaposition of dark exotic woods with light summary sea breeze is both interesting and intoxicating.

Wife loves this one, I dropped my sample in the closet spilled everywhere, the wife came to me a couple of days later and said the closet smells so good, then she said the toilet paper smells really good too! Now my families ass smells like oud minerale lol. Its really really good, i get a light woody fresh scent..

This is that cold, salty, Pacific Northwest marine scent that I've been looking for! Before that, the closest was Kingston Ferry by Olympic Orchids, but this one doesn't have the diesel fuel accord, and is just the water. I love it. Even though it's more a warm weather scent, it's got the heart to last in the cold.

This is an awesome Fragrance that doesn't get the attention it deserves. It is so deep and rich, while still being fresh. The sea notes flow so perfectly with the woody notes. It lasts all day, and projects really well. This is super unique, and nobody is wearing it. I love this one. Tom Ford as usual, nailed it.

I only have a decant as this fragrance has been discontinued for some time but it's a perfect "wet", fresh fragrance. It smells like it's just rained on the beach: there are rainy dark grey clouds above your head and you can smell wet stones and sand, salty sea wind is kind and the ocean waves are calm.

To add to my review, if you have bad performance make sure you don't check if its there like I have a habit of doing. Do 2-4 sprays and let it work its magic and waft in the air,theres a note in this that I get far too used to and go noseblind if I keep checking if it's still projecting.

Aside from the prominent marine/salty accord, Oud Minerale also smells like refreshing root beer. There’s also a hint of dried plum. A good alternative to citrus-leaning fragrances for summer. There’s something about this scent that commands attention. An 8 out of 10 for me.

modern woody oud by the beach. i love the marine notes so much ... it makes me feel relaxed and happy the moment i spritzed the scent. not the regular aquatic marine notes.. thia is somehow deeper, thanks to the hint of seaweed. brings me back to my childhood ...

Had this since it came out. I have an original bottle and a new gold one. I still love it. Somehow a fresh oud. It's a little spicy and invokes a marine feeling. So that's pretty cool. Anyway! Just wanted to drop in on this again.

I own both the Private Blend edition and the new Resort edition, I tried to find the difference in both of them but I can't. I dont detect any difference between the two. Longevity is the same and the scent is the same.

Just purchased the 'Resort Collection' and am more than happy with my decision. Dark, smoky, salty, and absolutely perfect for the summer months. Don't sleep on this one. For the new price, it's an absolute bargain.
