Reserve Collection: Velvet Gardenia

I had always been curious in trying this out. I finally got a bottle and have since bought 2 more since I’ll probably never be able to get this one again and especially not at the insane prices that I got them for. Never smelled the original, so I can’t comment on how the re-release compares. To me, this is a masterpiece in the Tom Ford collection. It’s not currently discontinued, but I bet they drop it again soon. It really is a very realistic gardenia. It blooms so perfectly in warm weather. There’s a good bit of jasmine that sits on display alongside the gardenia, but the gardenia is the main note. It does remind me of Creed’s White Amber. I’ve still been familiarizing myself with this fragrance, but I’ve been in love every time I’ve worn it—constantly smelling it and loving when it wafts up. Longevity and sillage are pretty good.

As a guy who is also a Tom Ford hoarder, I picked this up looking for something to wear during the Spring. Took me a few wearings to truly understand this one. It is very linear but also complex. You can smell a creamy almost mushroom scent along with a bitter/sour citrus. But yet these scents come together to create a beautiful floral note. Nothing crazy, nothing exciting, just a nice, Spring floral. Glad I picked it up.

Velvet gardenia is a work of art. Honey. White florals and and earthy undertone. The reserve collection is more refined and less screetchy than the OG bottle. 9.3/10

The magnificent bouquet of notes creates a the most realistic experience of smelling a freshly bloomed gardenia flower. I have two gardenia trees on my porch and they are fully bloomed. Every-time I water them from head to toe in the hot summer day I stand in between and enjoy the aroma of the evaporating water from the soil, leaves and flowers of my trees. The flowers have such intoxicating fumes, at the fist sniff they are sweet, but the more you breath them in you realize that it’s getting somewhere maybe even rotten..? Earthy? This perfume is gives you the same experience. To me, it’s a masterpiece. It’s a 3d or even 4d olfactive experience. 🌺❤️

Batch - A88 (2018) Velvet Gardenia is probably the best gardenia i've smelled to date. Super realistic gardenia scent super buttery and really really smooth. While gardenia is the star of the scent the background notes of honey beeswax incense elevate this scent to a different level. I don't see many occasions of wearing this fragrance i see why it was discontinued even though it's definitely a masterpiece of a scent. Great longevity of 8 hours and 2 hours of projection. 7/10

When I spray this on, I get an odd sweet floral smell (to my mind it smells like some sort of weird chemical) - however this quickly fades to something that is very similar to Madonna's Truth or Dare. Don't get me wrong, Velvet Gardenia has a more sophisticated touch - but the similarities are there. I don't mind this fragrance, but it is not worth the recently inflated price - at the end of the day it is a fairly standard gardenia/tuberose sweet blend.

It’s a nasty awful smelling perfume that is just repulsive to my nose. I get no Gardenia but that awful jasmine that I detest in perfumes.

This smells like real gardenia. Master's work for white flowers lover. Magical!
