Sole Di Positano Acqua

Fresh floral and citrus. The petitgrain is very apparent but softens to a slightly green, blossom floral. I’m wearing it on a miserable wet day and it’s quite comforting. It performs better on a warm day but I’m enjoying the momentary transportation to an orange grove in the Mediterranean.

Showed it to 5 girl friends: all of them LOVED it. One of the best fresh floral scents out there. It is as smooth as it can get. Projection is quite strong. I can smell it inside my house 3-4 hours after my husband wears it.

This is the best of all the TF blue series. So pleasant and well blended. Lot of Orange blossom, with Mandarin orange and shiso mint. The musc makes it very wearable. If you don't use this a a couple years, the musc gets stronger, as MFK Aqua Universalis did. The florals, lilly of valley loose their scent in a few years. I did recently get a sample of the (non Acqua) Sol di Positano samples. The Acqua is more interesting scent composition. It is more floral, and more shiso mint in the Acqua. The longevity may be less than the original, but I prefer the Acqua for it's greater vivacious freshness. The original has more tart citrus, less floral, and some orange note, not mandarin. The original is more like TF Mandarino Amalfi, which I have. So next Summer I may purchase the Acqua Sole de Positano. PS: I picked up a 50 ml when I spotted a good deal on eBay, about $65. It is more feminine leaning than I remember my sample. Guys may still like it. But ladies, if you like the Blue series of freshies, this is well blended and maybe the most feminine in the line. Even more so than Fleur de Portafino, one of my favorites. This is closest to Mandarino di Amalfi, but its softer and makes me think of water,. So Acqua is a good name. They really capture that sense here. The florals are not all white florals, like with Fleur de Portofino. You have the Ylang ylang, yellow floral, mixed with jasmine and orange blossom. I don't pick out lilly of the valley, it must be a nice nuance. Rating: 8.25/10 God bless. John 3:16

This is exactly what the original Sole di Positano should have been. A symphony of bergamot and bitter orange citrus, jasmine and neroli, made to be light and luminous. But it still misses the mark a bit. Like the original, it still feels cold and icy rather than like flowers and citruses being kissed by the warm Positano sun. The second issue is that it is extremely close to the other "blue" Tom Ford lines - namely the Neroli Portofino line, and Mandarino di Amalfi. In fact, I cannot recall there being much of a difference to Mandarino di Amalfi - I dare say they are almost exactly the same except that SdP Acqua is a touch more floral. And, to that point, it definitely calls to mind Neroli Portofino Acqua, which is all-around a better fragrance. Having tried both versions of SdP I can now see why they were discontinued and didn't sell much at all. It's not that they are bad - far from it - but the Tom Ford fragrance shelf is/was already crowded with fragrances that accomplish nearly the same thing, that are more established, and simply better - leading to the point that there are plenty of fragrances with this DNA on retail fragrance shelves, period. Glad to be wearing it, glad I got smell it, glad I got to bask in some of my favorite accords of good quality, but I will not shed a tear nor have a second thought to leaving it alone and forgetting about it.

This is an edt by the way. Ok. To me this is a floral citrus woody green scent. woody: branches etc green: some leaves not grassy, rounded citrus floral, not lush wet white florals, and not sweet citrus Very unisex but I'd say slightly masculine leaning rather than femme side - not sharp though. I never used to go for any mens scents, and even thought davidoff cool water was masculine, but now I do mens scents unisex, it just depends on tour noise and general preferences. The citrus feel is not of the super dry sort, no sharpness as in male aimed scents. Its gently pithy and fresh, I think I get a decent whack of petitgrain I'm guessing. The greenness with mandarin citrus include the green leaves and branches it comes with. Dont imagine citrus juice though ok. It's a rounded and gentle wood-floral-green overall. Longevity is insulting - however I am trying it on skin again but in the daytime, I'll see if heat improves things. Summer night I got maybe an hour. Sillage I'll spray a man later and see. I get gentle whafts of it for a time. Similar comparison scents: Maybe 4711 however this TF is more smooth and less lemonish but you're in the right scent family.

From a man's perspective, it's simply gorgeous though short lived. Slightly tart with a crisp green & lively citrus aspect to it. I agree that it turns into a slight soapy and hand cream lotion type vibe within an hour or two but, the scent quality is there and I don't mind going nuts on the sprayer with this fragrance. It's a citrus based fragrance and everyone knows that citrus derived scents are the fastest evaporating scent accords in the business. Just simply spray more with some sprays on clothing. I usually get between 4-5 hours worth of crisp cleanliness and that's perfectly acceptable to me. And if one can find it at a discounted price even more so. There are more synthetically created fragrances that can give you better performance and up longevity a bit but, very few can equal the quality of ingredients & composition that Sole di Positano brings to the table. Just enjoy the fragrance for what it delivers. A burst of freshness that brings a poop eating grin to my face everytime I wear this fragrance.

I'm getting a nice hand cream vibe actually, you know scents people class as Mediterranean? This is also along those lines without being sharp, lemony or very green. A lovely top end hand creaminess round this scent. EDIT: I'm a couple hours in currently, this has better longevity than last night, so i would take that to mean it needs heat to bloom a bit. I caught some of the scent on my clothes when sprayed down my top and i get a lovely non masculine triple milled Mediterranean leaning soap clean feel (not super soapy, but to paint you a picture from what you may already know) gently fresh, gentle non grassy green leaves with faint citrus florals. I love it on my clothes but my skin doesnt hold many of these type of scents. I have eau de soleil on my other arm and that is going just fine.

I think this is the best of the Portofino collection for me . It is the most juicy and refreshing for hot Summer days. It is also a great Lilly of the valley fragrance. It has much more Lilly of the valley than the regular Sole di Positano fragrance. What makes this great is the fresh spiciness of the shiso note. It is slightly peppery and minty fresh. It's loaded with white florals, and a good Lilly of the valley. Then the juicy freshness comes from the tangerine and citruses. Rating: 9.5/10 God bless. John 3:16

It’s a really good white floral fragrance . Better than most out there . Smells quality . Nothing too crazy for those who are looking for something extraordinary. It does the work . 8/10

Starts off with a slightly more intense lemon/citrus burst than the original, but this is extremely short lived. Literally 2 minutes later and all that citrus sparkle has gone, leaving a very light petitgrain/neroli with a sandalwood base. I guess if I wanted to be generous I'd say there is some generic floral notes, but to be honest...its heavy on the petitgrain and sandalwood. It is actually a lovely, but predictable fresh scent that suffers from the curse of a citrus heavy composition - gone in an instant with next to no sillage. The original suffered from the same fate, so this version, which is heavier on the citrus and lighter on the concentration was always going to be a fleeting affair.

Both versions almost identical. Still fresh and smooth, but slightly stripped. I prefer the original, because I dont like musk that's little pronounced in this acqua. I have the original and will keep buying it. This and costa azzura acqua are the best in this line, then Neroli. They go well in my Texas weather.

Tom Ford's fragrances are proof that parfums don't always last for a very long time. Very refined and high quality but it's not gonna last long. Maybe 5-6 hrs
