Ichigo Ichie

Initial spray it’s very beautiful. Came off more floral than the cream note but drying down it popped out. In some weird way there’s a citrus that kind of smells like silent in the theme park from Toskovat’ but it’s totally different to it. But Ichigo Iche actually feels sad in dry down. In the dry down it’s very woodsy musky tea, and the greenish smell that helps and connects with the steam note. Nice creamy floral earthy more green smell and a bit cloth like. Ichigo Iche really reminds me of an old Japanese era of lifestyle. Like summer and the lady’s that put a killer amount of the clay powder on their face while smelling sweet and floral, very faint smoky wood but not offensive smoky more.. steamy. A youthful woman yet that scent of maturity. I do agree slightly with other reviews that it’s a skin scent, Ichigo Iche would be very good if it was stronger yet a trained nose will detect it. But maybe that’s what it is, I think of it as meeting a woman and getting to know them, like if it was how they’d naturally smell coming from a older era of a Japanese life. Since after all Toskovat’ is about memories. It feels like chasing for something to not go but now it’s only the things you’ve kept onto and the smells are glimpse of those memories. Definitely summer/ warmer and not colder seasons. But I’ve never tried it in the cold yet. Definitely a 4.5/5 Star only because of the how weak it can be yet so beautiful.

As someone who is half Japanese and grew up in Japan, this one was an emotional experience for me. About a minute after I sprayed this, it instantly took me to my Japanese grandmother’s house. It smelled just like her tatami room (traditional room with grass mat flooring) when there’s a bit of leftover sweet incense smell in the air and flowers by her butsudan (altar). The distinct smell of the tatami flooring mats really shine in this - I’m assuming it’s from the hinoki. There’s a beautiful earthiness combined with the sweet floral and incense notes. This fragrance evoked such an emotional reaction for me. It reminds me of my late grandmother who I absolutely adored. I will definitely be purchasing this. It’s a masterpiece.

i've been testing out a sample and i'll definitely save up to buy a full bottle. this fragrance smells as if you're sitting on an antique chair within a greenhouse full of flowers, an incense burning in a tray on top of the table in front of you while you're drinking tea. there's pollen in the air and it's ever so slightly cloudy outside with little rays of sun peeking through. i'd probably wear this more in fall through winter because i live somewhere hot and humid where the smoky aspect of this fragrance would be too much for the majority of the year (it only gets cold for maybe 2-3 months) + ̊⊹⋆

This is my #2 top Toskovat "wearable" fragrance. P0rns*ar being #1. It's such a comfy scent. It's got that floral open but the dry down on my skin is so powdery and incense forward. To me it is a nostalgic smell that I can't quite figure out where I have smelled it before. Which I think is why it is such a comfortable wear for me. I wear it on my super stressed out days so that I can just sniff my wrist and teleport myself out of reality for a moment. I will be getting a full bottle in the near future

Reminds me of my mom in her late 20's, fun fresh and ready to have fun with her other single mother friends and talk bad about men, share their latest dinner hack recipe from the magazine, and drink copious amounts of caffeine. It's zangy, tang, fruity, and extermely tropical with mentholated undertones probably from the tea, or green tea in particular. The scent does fade into an almost cotton-linen freshly washed laundry scent mixed with clean skin scent.

scent for a chaste woman, a bit vintage, non-offensive, powder, blossom and pears. reminds me of a mix of Margiela’s Lazy Sunday Morning and Whispers In The Library. dries down quickly enough, but that is what such a woman would want - the perfume that doesn’t scream, but comforts. also it smells like how i imagine the scent of the springtime in japan. 9/10 good job David.

Starts off with a pungent cream soda, but dries down with juicy and unique fruits and powdery florals. Very well blended and has a steamy feel to it also. After 4-5 hours on my skin it becomes more of a skin scent and tea and light and warm incense come out to replace a lot of the florals. Great projection but below average longevity. Incredible scent tho. 9/10

sweet plum tea sexy beautiful, smells as if you are a samuri in fantasy japan sitting by a river drinking a sweet plum infused tea with your sword on your lap, this is fucking phenomenal incredible and a near 10/10 perfume scent 10/10 silage 8.5/10 longevity 9/10 dry down 10/10 artistry 10/10 total 9.5/10

To me, this is gorgeous and feminine. I get almost all the notes in the pyramid. Also my family complimented a bunch when I wore the sample out, so I didn't get the problem of no projection some people seem to have!

For me this is a very happy scent, my mental image is a view of the sea from a cozy room with lit incense and a flower garden, before noon when everything is quiet and people are busy elsewhere

this is so fun and electric and bright. i would buy a whole bottle. it smells like “lord of misrule” by Lush grew up and got a high dollar office position and vacations in expensive places.

Easily my favorite of the toskovat line up. Great rich tea scent for me. Shame it only ends up being a skin scent on my skin, but it’s fine as I really only wear it leisurely.

Finally got the chance to sample this and it's good! The top notes smell exactly like the church I went to growing up and my dad had described it as a scent for saints, whatever that may be. On paper, the notes are spot on: I smell the cream soda and it's also light, fruity, and floral. But on my skin, it's thick, sweet, smells a lot more dense and while it leans more feminine on me, it smells woody on others. Could I agree with the sentiment that Toskovat had put behind the title (Ichigo Ichie = one time, one meeting/one lifetime, one encounter) and poetry attached to this fragrance? "It was just one moment. Just one lifetime. And there were many glimpses of beauty along the way." Sure. Although it gives off a much more fun and lighthearted feeling smelling this...Maybe I remain expecting more and perhaps something deeper. 8/10 Also, sampling this was made possible by LensDecants! Easily my most expensive blind buy, but given how hard it is to get hold of a Tosovat', I figured I can sell it. But I won't. I didn't love this at first sniff on paper, and I won't lie: I thought I did made a pricy mistake. Even after a few sprays on skin, I wasn't really getting it. I could smell sweet things. Tea. I think cream soda. Definitely fruit. It was confounding. The thing is. I could not stop sniffing. Even now, I want to spray some to take in all the notes. I don't understand it, but there's a weird addictive quality to Ichigo Ichie. Is this the part of the Toskovat' experience? It's not like I love it... but I am drawn.

This is extremely Artistic and Complex. This TO ME smells like Nail polish and cream soda / Powdery make up and Cream soda with some florals and fruits in the back. Now don’t be turned off by what I said about Nail polish or a powdery smell I 100% think you should at least sample this and give it a try. It’s Unique, different and will probably make people think about this scent for days with how Exclusively unique it is. ALSO let this scent grow on you a bit you might be appalled at first sniff. this is lovely but i wish it was stronger :( it does last very long to be fair, but it is a faint skin scent for its entire duration. the pomelo and cream soda are definitely the stars here, with hibiscus tea in the background. the longer it's on the more powdery it smells, but i like that. i think this would actually make the perfect inoffensive office scent overall rating: 🩷🩷🩷💔🖤 3.5/5

I would initially describe this scent as quite boozy and cloudy. It's floral and I can really smell the rooibos tea in the base notes. You can also sense a powdery accord with small notes of amber. This smell is not bad at all and is very wearable for a Toskovat. Pretty likeable, although I wouldn't buy it.

Really nice and very likeable floral scent, but my grandmother used to wear a fragrance that greatly reminds me of this, so in my mind this is pretty feminine. It's ever so slightly powdery and in the opening minutes it has a light fizziness to it, I'm assuming from the "cream soda" accord.

A very nice floral scent, with a fascinating profile of notes. Cream soda is what drew me in, and upon a few more wears I can notice it more on the dry down. I was curious and a tad nervous, having never tried anything Toskovat has crafted, but this is a very nice fragrance.

smells like a beauty queen that adores eating fruits and drinking exotic teas. she’s rather prissy but undeniably beautiful. juicy, powdery, and slightly boozy. a mix of pretty things and sweet nothings wrapped neatly in a bow.

Aromatic tea steam top with powdered periwinking lily, dry incense dust, Hibiscus wine and crisp paper precisely folded. Play of arrid and wet. Flower musk. Lavender dyed orris rhizome. A confusion of bloom-scented cosmetics.

smells very similar to french waltz by golf le fleur. good, but very very feminine leaning. i just dont think i could wear it, decent scent tho, not too unique. 7/10

Do you want a scent that actually smells like steam? Try Sweet Celestials by Strangers Parfumerie. I am sad to say this one was disappointing. I agree with @monipod, though I thankfully had only bought a decant. Ichigo Ichie was one of the scents I was most excited to try. I had high hopes for a rooibos fragrance, something steamy and aromatic with a cozy rooibos and ginger feel. What I got was... something very different. Ichigo Ichie feels eerily similar to Curtain Call, to the point where I'd group them together yet they each have distinct personalities. If you like one, chances are you’ll like the other. My main disappointment with Ichigo Ichie is that it is very weak. It becomes almost a skin scent immediately, and you really have to press your nose up to the skin to pick it up. In the heat, it sweetens slightly, but even then, it remains extremely light. This requires frequent reapplication, which would make it very easy to run through a bottle. It also tends to wash away with just water, no soap needed. The scent itself, however, is beautiful. Fruity, feminine, and powdery, it has a youthful, bittersweet elegance. It smells faintly of herbal tea, but not rooibos as expected. Rather than the grassy, gingery lemon of real Rooibos, this leans more toward a watery black tea with fruit infusions, which itself is also a let-down. This is a bowl of wet fruit, something that smells like melons and pears, with a backbone of something slightly minty like matcha tea. It sadly feels unfinished because of just how light it is. I love the scent itself I just wish it was stronger. This kind of smells like an empty candy bag, there's nothing left inside for you but there's a trace of what used to be there. It almost reminds me of something Marc Jacobs would release, but far lighter, less synthetic, and slightly more mature. If you love subtle, watery, fruity florals and don’t mind (expensive) frequent reapplications, Ichigo Ichie is lovely. Otherwise, pick up Curtain Call instead.. Biggest Disappointment: - Lack of the expected steam, ginger, or true earthy rooibos tea. (found black or matcha tea instead.) - Weak projection and longevity.

Incredibly floral, lol. It is a powdery floral, but it’s less suffocating than something like baby powder. Like 50% less, but still powdery. Personally I definitely get incense and hinoki wood undertones, sorry for the people that don’t :p If I think about it, I get cream soda slightly too. Also, this stays on my skin for quite a while. It’s pretty strong, definitely reminiscent of a 55+ lady’s perfume, but if a younger person wears it, I think it gives a totally different vibe and isn’t overly mature or matronly. It’s somewhat mall-perfume esque but smells a bit more endearing

I got a sample of it, because it was in a sample pack I bought. I haven't heard about this fragrance before, even tho I'm super into Toskovat perfumes. No wonder why. It's such a nothing burger. You can barely smell anything, it's like smelling slightly sweetend air. This might be the most overpriced fragrance on the market. Poor performance for an extremely expensive pricepoint.

I'm almost 100% anosmic to this. I can smell it for about 3 or 4 seconds when I spray it on, and then my nose shuts down and won't acknowledge it. I get occasional glimpses of it over the next hour or so, but those are seldom and fleeting. Pretty frustrating because I'm into it for those few seconds. Definitely sample first to make sure you don't have the same issue.

1 drop got out of the bottle somehow and that got onto my hand, and then the drop on my hand got onto my shirt, and I smelled like this AFTER my shower... be careful trying this because you cannot get away! It smells like burning incense and an abandoned church, it’s very pretty and I like the smell of it, just not on me. Wish it could be a candle lol

could smell most of the notes in the fragrance, after about 4 hours i get mostly steaming hot loose tea and sakura blossom. if i was someone that liked floral fragrances i would definitely consider getting this one because there will be no one out there that would smell like this! :)

To me the florals up front are way too strong. Once they fade away, the lingering incense smell isn't bad but it could benefit from removing the musk. They clash a little to me. Holy crap does it stick though. A test spray on the back of my hand survived two hand washes.

most disappointed I've been by a toskovat so far. I was expecting something very very nice but it is so weak and barely detectable. honestly smells like montale roses musk but 20% of the strength.

Very powdery and strong. Someone said this kinda smells like the Fenty perfume. It’s been a while since I smelled it but I can see it. I don’t like either of them. Not stinky but idk it’s like if a floral perfume strong-armed you.

A powdery mix of grandma florals and an old surf shop. Unfortunately I don’t really get any cream soda or black tea.

Super fruity, floral, and powdery. Leans very feminine. I get no tea at all. This was a scrubber for me.

The first bite and juice flows down my chin, sticky and sweet like a secret. This is Ichigo Ichie – the scent of one meeting, one moment. Hibiscus unfolds its petals right next to my face, mirabelle plums hang heavy from branches, ready to burst with sweetness. Pomelo bursts with citrus juice, but soon gives way to a creamy note of vanilla ice cream. Cherry blossoms fall on my hair, delicate like the first kiss that hasn't come yet, but already hangs in the air. There's something humid, sticky in all of this – like sweat on skin on the hottest day of the year. Black tea steams in a porcelain cup, its bitter note reminding that this magic garden has its shadows too. In the background, incense and warm wood, musk like skin heated by the sun. Hours pass, and this magic garden still lives on my skin. The sweetness ferments gently, like fruit lying in the sun – it doesn't turn sour, only gains depth. There's something lightly alcoholic in it, pleasantly intoxicating, like the first sip of wine drunk in secret. The first time I wore this I sprayed my core and I lost the smell very quickly. Loved it, but couldn't pick it up without putting my nose in it even just 2 hours later. Today I'm giving it a second shot and I did a wrist, the back of the other hand, and then a spray behind each ear and a couple to the back of my neck. It's doing much better this way, I'm consistently catching wafts of it now. It's an amazing soft, powdery, floral tea scent - I find it unisex though I imagine it would be pushing the boundaries of that and pulling too femme for many people. Still soft and far from long-lasting, especially compared to other Toskovat stuff, but if you avoid spraying your chest area it'll do what it's supposed to do.

Very tea-forward and powdery. I despise powdery notes in fragrances but I want to smell all of the Toskovat fragrances so I got a sample of this anyway. The powder smells like vintage cosmetics. I have a memory of being curious and going through my grandma's makeup drawer. Expired eyeshadows and lipsticks abound, and whole cardboard boxes of powder with giant puff inside. It's comforting. It's not hurting my nose, which is usually why I don't like powder notes. The tea is making my mouth water in a way that now I think I want a nice cup of tea. I might go make some tea right now, actually. But this was fun for me to try and I could see what kind of person this would suit really well.

I bought this around 5-7 months ago and I remember feeling very neutral about it. I wanted to give something to my mother as a Christmas gift, and was planning on giving Ichigo Ichie to her because I haven't used it at all. I gave it what i thought would be my final sniff, but I fell in love immediately. I don't think this exists, but I imagine freeze dried pomelo covered in cream soda, and a lot of tropical florals. Now, it's powdery and musky I'll admit, but in a cozy cashmere way. I wish the incense here was noticeable though, as I barely get any. I like it, it's not unisex IMO, but we're pushing 2025 no one cares anyway.
