After all the faff on social media I wanted to sniff it for myself. I am not familiar with bombed hospitals so I cannot really ascertain whether the impression is efficient, but I suspect it isn’t. It does open violently. People have said gunpowder, to me it was more a very strong flower-ozone with dusty, iodine undertones that I think vaguely recreate the metallic facet of the gunpowder. The ozone is very strong, almost grating, but also provides a sense of powdery cleanness to the perfume. Juxtaposed over the incense notes of sandalwood and the more vegetation rot ones of the nagarmotha, it makes it very wearable, almost like a medical soap, but also cools down what should have been a comforting base. Its overall dustiness evokes concrete and petrichor, but never truly gets there. When the potency of the ozone diminishes (or your nose accommodates, it is hard to tell), there is a 2-hour long phase where the dominant is incense. Then the incense dulls down to get more into a more iodine, sweet, metallic facet that is long lasting and perhaps a little invasive. This is the part where it becomes weird, because the impression keeps changing even though the profile isn’t. There is something about the balance of the scent itself that feels unstable. Overall, it is nowhere near as dramatic as people made it to be. I was expecting a gimmick and found a really well-balanced perfume. Its rotten vegetation flowery smell to me evoke more the scent of a lover left on a bed sheet than a war crime. In all honesty, it could smell like you had sex during your period but on a bed of flowers, which I would qualify as a fairly more excusable evil. I think what this perfume does very well is to preserve its ambivalence while taunting the magnetism of the incense. I find myself reaching for my wrists, almost if I were worried to lose the scent that I like, because from afar the dominant is clearly the flower and ozone which is colder. I have to reach closer to the skin to feel its warmth. This is obviously a known phenomenon in all perfumes, but the dissonance between the head notes and core notes create this bouncing back effect. I honestly love it, at least on my skin, which tends to favor leathers, incenses, woods and flowers, which might explain why I haven’t had so much iodine-blood. People whose skin reinforces more volatile scents might find is nauseating because the compensation effect of the wood incense isn’t as strong. To me it’s right on balance. It reminds of sex, and has a dimension of grief to it, maybe both because of the fleeting nature of the perfume, like having the whiff of something that you remember is inconvenient but meaningful, that survives across weathering, and that you want to see surviving. Really worth the experience and not in the way I expected.

Before getting into the scent itself, some context is important. Inexcusable Evil was created by perfumer David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi as a deliberate conversation piece rather than a traditional fragrance. It was conceived during the early stages of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and just as the brand Toskovat was preparing to launch. The intent was not to make something pleasant or wearable, but to create almost like a form of protest against war. David has explained that images and videos of conflict can easily be scrolled past and forgotten, but a fragrance worn on the body you keep smelling throughout the day cannot be ignored. The goal was to make something so distracting and unsettling that it would prevent you from simply going on with your day. With that in mind, I decided to test Inexcusable Evil the way it was intended to be experienced. I applied it for a normal workday, using two sprays under my shirt and two on my elbows, keeping it restrained just in case its reputation was deserved. The impact was immediate. While it was not gag-inducing, it was undeniably unsettling. Almost instantly, my mood dropped, as if a gray cloud had settled over my head. The opening is intensely metallic and iodine-like, evoking concrete, antiseptic air, and sterile environments. It is loud, emotionally heavy, and fairly linear in its development. After a couple of hours, faint traces of dead or wilted florals begin to surface which help a little, but they do little to soften the overall impression. Shortly after arriving at work, I ended up washing the fragrance off my elbows. Not because it was traditionally offensive, but because I genuinely worried it might raise concern among my colleagues. It smelled less like a perfume and more like something associated with injury or medical treatment, and that reaction was not exaggerated. While it is not the most disgusting fragrance I have ever smelled, it is without doubt the most emotionally uneasy. By that measure, Inexcusable Evil is a complete success. It refuses to fade into the background or be treated casually, lingering not just on the skin but in the mind. This is not a fragrance designed for enjoyment, nor is it interested in being liked. Instead, it stands as a confrontational piece of perfumery, one that prioritizes message over comfort and impact over wearability. I do not enjoy the way it smells, but I cannot deny the clarity of its intent or the strength of its execution. As an artistic statement with clear moral weight, it proves that perfumery can function as protest just as effectively as it does as adornment. Well done, Toskovat.

War is but an eruption; the strife is what drags on, creating sorrow and woe. Inexcusable Evil is what I would call a statement fragrance, one that does exceedingly well with telling a story, a very vividly illustrated one that isn't always for the faint of heart. It opens with shots fired; the smell of gunpowder wafts outwards, mingling with blistering skies. Not too far away, these shots are heard, felt even as a nurse, young and in over her head, attempts to drown out the smell of a soldier's wounds with iodine. The ache of losing another has not yet settled for her, but to him, he's long accepted his death. Between shallow breaths, he wonders if his wife will leave flowers upon the damp soil of his grave, and in passing thought, he questions if his daughter will ever smile at the tire swing again the same way she used to when he was there to push her. It matters not... for with each flared nerve ending, he's pulled from his thoughts until they begin to fade alongside the voice of the nurse, the rain outside, and the sounds of thundering lead. From darkness we emerge, and into darkness we depart -- there is no light, only the faint glow of lit incense that barely casts enough warmth to reveal a concrete slab.... Story element aside, it is wearable, hardly as awful as some have claimed it to be. The scent profile can shift slightly with skin chemistry, but iodine usually remains pretty strong as the main note. It is VERY long-lasting, and surprisingly durable too; it took me some dedicated scrubbing to remove the one spray on my forearms. Though, does that make it worth $330? Not really, not unless you frame it as paying for art, which you know, this does very much qualify as art in a smell. ALSO, to me, a side-line game nerd, it definitely would smell like the Care Center from Resident Evil: Requiem, or well, any apocalyptic medical ward for that matter. If that or any of the above tickles your fancy, it's really cool!

I've been obssesed with this fragrance ever since I first encountered it on instagram review from my favourite frangrance influencer. I was eagered to smell "end of the world disgusting type of fragrance" and this one actually sparked my interest in the fragrance world. I finally got my hands on Inexcusable Evil this May. I remember how excited I was to have my first ever niche fragrance and also nervous, because I've heard lot of people almost vomited from smelling such a mixture of notes. Especialy the gun powder, iodine and blood notes. I expected the scent to be haunting and stomach turning. But my first impression of Inexcusable Evil (smelling it from the bottle) was not unpleasant at all. It smelled really warm, like bodily warm (still haven't figured out which note is that) followed by a short sweet but a bit dusty flowerly sesation, like decaying flowers and strong iodine climax with a really soft metallic note. The more times I smelled it I also started to smell something like bandages and my boyfriend said he smells that "old people" scent. For me from the bottle it smelled hauntingly beautiful (vampiric or ghostly vibes) and more tragic than evil, like cleaning a deceased patient's room in a hospital. I sprayed a little on my wrist and went on with my day, I was curious how this masterpiece would project on me. It was a hot summer day and after a few hours my nose was hit by an intense sharp cold scent, it felt like explosion for my nostrils. Immediately after it transformed into the metallic warm blood like smell. This bloody sinister smell dries down into a not so in your face metallic and incense smell. The depth of this fragrance amazes me to this day, it's not something to wear (not judging anyone who does tho), but it's something to experience. It's a true piece of art with a story told through a perfume. Absolutely love it.

Miałam okazję powąchać ten zapach i było to jedno z najbardziej niezwykłych doświadczeń olfaktorycznych, jakie kiedykolwiek przeżyłam. Pierwsze wrażenie, jakie do mnie dociera, to brud, kurz i smoła. Ku mojemu zaskoczeniu uważam go za noszalny.

I am truly amazed by this perfume. Bought out of curiosity, not expecting much, but it turned out to be mindblowing. First hit: hospital. Iodine was very strong, combined with some metallic note, reminded me of sterile hospital equipment. I could smell also a bit of gunpowder and flowers. After 1-2 hours, iodine started fading, and gunpowder/sulfur and metal came to the spotlight. I didn't find this metallic scent to resemble blood but it still goes well with sulfuric notes, painting a picture of a gun that just fired. Some ozonic and concrete notes also appeared in the background but they didn't seem to be very strong. 4+ hours after: the hospital and battlefield are gone. All that's left is very sweet scent, beautiful and disturbing at the same time. I'm familiar with the smell of dead, decaying body since my family runs a funeral home. Following multiple claims online and in the books: yes, dead bodies have a very distinct, unique sweet scent hiding behind the general decay, and it cannot be mistaken with anything else. I have no idea how it's possible to recreate this, but somehow Toskovat' did it. That scent is maybe not 100%, but 99.5% of this specific sweet note a dead body has. This is the scent of death. Inexcusable Evil tells a story. Hospital. War. Then death that haunts you for hours or days. The longevity itself is amazing - you go through the chapters, but once you finally meet death, it refuses to go away and stays with you like a disturbing shadow. This perfume was not meant to be pretty and pleasing, but to trigger emotions we're not comfortable with and to be admired for it. Incredible piece of art.

This is the fragrance that got me into fragrances. I read a review from someone who said it transported them to the conversations they had with their WWII veteran grandfather in a hospice and I knew I wanted to smell it. I expected myself not to like it, but I loved it. It is very strong at first but grows on you. My partner thinks that it smells nice as well. We are both "lazy alt" and I am the normie in a goth drag family so we are probably fringe in that sense. I wear this when I do my vampire drag king look, as it is too strong for daily/office wear. I don't have the most precise sense of smell, but for me I get a strong smell of iodine that has a floral smell. You do get a strong gunpowder scent. I don't like the smell of blood, and there's really only a faint scent of iron and maybe a sort of meatiness that does not fight with the iodine/flowers in my opinion. To me, the scent does not smell evil, but intense. Think of the heavy emotions one gets when they are recovering in a hospital. Or flowers in a graveyard on a smoky night. I highly recommend this for goths, artist types that want something to wear when they want a unique scent that tells a story. The smell will linger if you have it on your clothes and I love that as my vampire cape now smells like what I'd expect it to smell like. Toskovat is an artist and I am grateful to be taken on this journey.

Kept hearing about it when I mentioned I wanted to try unusual fragrances, got a sample for myself. Safe to say I thank earlier reviews for the heads-up about the very strong iodine/disinfectant opening. But it's exactly what I was searching for. Opens brutally, enters your nose and stays for as long as only it wants. Can't stop bringing my wrist and sample sheet to my nose, and the more I smell it the more I discover about it. Opening is sharp and almost sickening with a smoky disinfectant-like scent, then very slowly fades into a warm, sickly sweet incense with an alcoholic coat. The smoke persists through the nose, especially when you exhale after smelling it. Ultimately smells like a isopropyl-damped gauze after cleaning an infected wound, that you would have covered in incense. Kind of disappointed to not notice as many of the described bloody notes, but that does not make it any less interesting. I'd advise to wear it in colder temperatures and night settings, as during hot days it can definitely turn sickening and make your head hazy, especially if you're prone to headaches when smelling rubbing alcohol or isopropyl. I have a bad relationship with gender and find it hard to affirm myself through anything else than clothes, hair and piercings. This makes me feel weirdly at home in my body. Absolutely in love, wonderful first buy for a weirdo like me.

I think working in medicine this isnt too upsetting of a smell. Not wearable. Fun little thing to smell. Weirdly smokey, like balmy woody, but also stings your nose with the metallic bloodnote. Just a cool little science experiment. EDIT: i wrote this after like 4 hours of it being on me but something psychological happens after it sticks to you for 12 hours and wont remove itself. This smells like silent hill. like what i imagine LDL smells like in neon genesis evangelion. like an eating disorder. like a skinwalker or those native spirits from until dawn. like the back catalog of katie jane garside. This is actually such a malevolent fragrance not only because of how horrid it can really be after a while but because of the fact that when it opens you think “hey that’s not that bad i don’t get the hubbub”. Surprise! You’ve just conjured Godwyn’s deathblight on your sorry stupid wrist and it’s taking its mask off. It’s like losing your best friend on the mountain and when he comes back a week later you find his corpse has been inhabited by a truly alien and starved evil. Posession, Occupation, the true and honorable exiled, leaving behind a damp vessel soon to be worn by wickedness. Like a wolf in sheeps clothing, like the entirety of Pet Sematary. You get the idea

Gunpowder and gauze, although missing the sharp sulfur of gunpowder. I fortunately/unfortunately spilled some of my sample on my shirt, I noticed my neck was hot with anxiety throughout the day. This doesn't smell like decay or roadkill, which is nice, as based on the typical reaction I was expecting at least a hint of decomposing body. It smells like if you kept guns in your grandmothers musty medicine cabinet with bandaids from the 1950s. A deep huff off of my shirt was pure iodine. The smell is repulsive, but not in a way that rotten flesh is, the repulsion is brought on purely from how overwhelming the stench is. I honestly love it. My friend described it as "inhaling everything in a lab at once and no longer being able to smell anything else after." Another said "construction site." Three days later I craved Inexcusable Evil. My sample now lives in my work bag as a smelling salt. Enough exposure and this becomes a pungent, mugwort infused incense with a little bit of blood - medicinal, but you learn to love it. A brooding, frigid December at dusk when the sun has finally pushed behind the horizon, leaving snow and dead branches. Ink and paper. All is gray and quiet. Addendum: Wore this at a sweaty rave. If you were near me I am not sorry.

On a rainy spring twilight, my joy burned small and bright under the eaves—until an old woman, wild-eyed and bitter, hurled curses at me in Romanian for waking her. I brushed her off; in our neighborhood she was known as “mad,” and childhood has a way of feeling invincible. I kept playing by the outside oven. The ball sprang free of my hands and perched, smug and shining, on the oven’s slick crown. Rain stitched the yard into glittering threads while a narrow choice pressed at my temples: leave it—or climb. I chose poorly. My foot slid like a lie, and the world tipped; my tibia struck the corner of a rusty trapdoor, and the wet grass and flowers received me with a cold embrace. Blood unspooled without shame, bright against the dark, while my friends, faces pale, pressed muddy bandages to the wound, as if they could dam a river with their hands. Only then did I understand: it wasn’t her curse that found me, but my own stubbornness—a hairline crack through which, in a single breath, a piece of childhood slipped into the night. This fragrance always reminds me of this particular moment in my life. However, I sometimes find the scent a bit headaching. Warmly recommend.

This fragrance lives up to its name. It is the most inhuman, absurdly violent thing I have ever smelled. Do not be fooled by the initial onset of clean, medicinal iodine and intriguing florals. Inexcusable Evil will invade your throat and nostrils with a haunting, if not outright terror-inducing vapor of incomprehensible horrors. This fragrance genuinely began to scare me after trying it on. "Inexcusable Evil" refused to dissipate; it spread rapidly and violently about my person as time passed and mocked my attempts to cover up or wash it away. The green, almost peppery initial notes devolved into what I can only describe as the smell of post-apocalyptic, complete and utter destruction--wet, sour concrete, forgotten gunfire, and deep, deep sorrow. I will be haunted by this perfume for the rest of my life. This is a 10/10 for concept and experience alone. Kudos to Toskovat for offering a taste (smell) of emotions I didn't know I was capable of feeling. I intend to try "Inexcusable Evil" again, when I am feeling braver, or at least, less sane.

Got a sample of this recently Imagine a bloodied up laboratory where they experimented on human specimens. like in resident evil games. That blood scent quickly disappears into a very sterile smell at the same time. It kind of reminds me of that sarge lutens fragrance dent de lait but without the milky aspect, it’s more antimicrobial germicidal etc cousin I guess. Hmm blood on a disinfected scalpel. After that It dries down to a sharp floral smell but not the cloying kind that screams in your face. It actually smells so clean and good at the dry down. I honestly can’t stop smelling it!! It’s not evil at all. It smells clean in a not “detergent” way. So sterile and pure it makes me feel absolved of my sins. it’s a transformation of a contaminated scent to its complete opposite. I’m just rambling. I’m going to wear it tomorrow. Edit x4: someone said it smells like band aids and yes I do agree 😭

Sometimes a perfume can be a work of art. Inexcusable Evil is a perfect example of that. Hands down the most polarizing decant that I own. People either love it or hate it. Some people say it smells like rotting flesh. Me personally I didn't catch that scent. Definitely picked up the gunpowder, iodine, and metallic notes. To me it smells like walking into a hospital on a rainy night and going past someone being wheeled into the emergency room bloody, bandaged, and full of gunpowder. I can think of three types of people that could maybe pull this scent off. Open heart surgeons, doms who specialize in medical and or pierce play, and serial killers. There has got to be at least one psycho out there that not only has a full bottle of this, but also uses it as their everyday perfume. Good on them. I'm a maniac so of course I love this perfume. But I would never wear it in public. 5/5

At first spray, I get a strong blast of what smells like the aftermath of a house fire (if you've ever smelled this, you know that it's one of those smells that sticks with you for life): smoky, acrid and chemical. As it begins to settle, the antiseptic note emerges. It starts to smell like peeling back an old bandage and sticking your nose into a pus-filled wound that had previously been cleaned with iodine. After a few hours, blood and concrete become the dominant notes. It now smells like you got into a high-speed car wreck and you're bleeding out on the concrete, surrounded by twisted metal. On dry down, it softens to what smells like incense, rotted flowers and a hint of all the other notes I mentioned previously. It is truly a work of art and a fragrance I'm very pleased to have in my collection. Bravo, Toskovat.

This is almost certainly an "art piece" or "experimental" scent rather than something meant for everyday use; and I'll say that it achieves what it set out to do with resounding success. The initial spray immediately brings up strong, pungent notes of blood and the tang of gunpowder. One thing I immediately noticed was the "wetness" of the scent, like blood that keeps running from a wound, but constantly washed away by heavy rain. The drydown is slightly bitter and thick, in a festering sort of way, with the delightful odour of applied medical ointments. The longevity is truly astounding, and lingers even after a bath. Projection is also strong, with a room-filling presence. Overall, definitely a scent to reach for if you're role-playing a wounded WW2 soldier retreating to the field hospital to treat a shrapnel wound.

I bought this as a 1ml tester sample from someone online and basically, I don't smell the blood notes, I smell purely just the gunpowder note. Iodine and gunpowder are the strongest notes, the rest (except from ozonic notes) are practically impossible to smell. The ozonic note is a bit more noticeable too, but the gunpowder makes most of it. When I got it, I liked to spray it on my hand sometimes to see how long it lasts. It lasts almost the whole day 😭. It's so strong, but I wouldn't say it fills the room (unless I can't smell it). It stays on skin even in the freezing weather. I'd suggest not spraying too much of it, otherwise you'd get a headache after a few hours (even with one spray on the hand, be careful). Lives up to its expectations if you want purely gunpowder smell.

this is perfect from an artistic POV if your into perfumry for the artisic experience this is a 50/10 debatbly the best artistic job ive ever seen done with a fragrance. the smell, like a bonesaw being reved up the dentist shaving your tooth and you get a smell of the speed of the metal clashing against the shavings of your teeth then it changes into something more brutal. War,Blood a man running across the earth trying to escape as bullets rip through the air. this is an unreal reflection of the suffering of war violence and possibly even surgery it does not smell good it does not smell fun art reflects life and I have never seen a fragrance do it as well as this one will I ever wear this outside if it is not halloween no. will i still buy a bottle? maybe lol.

Upon first impression, I thought "That's it? Its nauseating and smells like war but it's not quite as disturbing as people have said." Really, it doesn't smell that bad with just a sniff. Well the problem is that it's not "Just a sniff." After around 2 minutes on skin, I find that the scent of hot sticky blood, rusty metal, antiseptics, and the heat of too many bodies in too small a space becomes genuinely upsetting, and impossible to escape. I have a very sensitive nose, and I had to open windows and put a fan on for a few hours before the smell was completely gone. Its horrible in the exact way it's meant to be. A masterclass in conceptual performance art, and the sample will be kept in a box and duct taped closed from now on.

I bought a sample of this, really curious about people’s reactions to it. I suppose everyone’s got their own nose, but to me this is a really alluring, artistic fragrance - nowhere close as offensive as people claim it to be. I’d go as far as to say it’s wearable, though I honestly prefer how it smells on a test strip compared to skin It has strong ozonic, metallic and iodine notes with powdery florals surrounding it, the flowers seem dried or old. The woodiness and incense add layers to the smell, covering the initially unsettling notes. I think this is a beautiful take on an eerie, melancholic or gothic scent, that I would recommend to anyone who’s into experiencing emotions through smell and fragrance as an art medium
