Coeur d'Artichaut

This house remains one of my favorites. As with all Treading Water releases, it’s nearly impossible to understand the scent by reading the note list alone - you have to experience the journey Hayden creates through his perfumery. Coeur d’Artichaut is a playful, luminous citrus. I initially worried the artichoke would introduce an unwanted funk, but instead it provides a clever green counterweight, tempering the brightness without dulling it. At its core, this feels like a more refined take on Versace Eros Energy - both scents have a vivid, almost photorealistic citrus front and center. As it dries down, the fragrance shifts into something greener and more vegetal - but not in a “broccoli” way. The artichoke functions much like a cucumber does in a drink: subtle, refreshing, and quietly balancing the citrus rather than competing with it. Performance, as always with this house, is monstrous. A single spray from a sample vial was enough to earn a compliment from a coworker passing by.

put this one on considering a trip to the dispensary today. it's floral, weedy, and green. if you're a tomato leaf girlie you might consider this for spring and summer.

Feb 17th. Initially green and fresh with a quick mellow floral follow-up and a bit of sweet clean rubber (more toy than tire) maybe some vanilla or similar drop of something more black tea like. There's a warmness behind the green that's both familiar and comforting. Later in the day I get a feminine leaning fresh floral with a hint of light powder sweetness, reduced to almost a skin scent. The fact I tested this blind multiple times, but forgot I was wearing anything later in the day suggested a relatively short longevity compared to others from this house. Looking at the notes now, the grapefruit, mandarin, and mango are quite recognizable, but blend to become somewhat sweet and floral in nature. The artichoke is fairly marked, coming across as moderately green, but provides depth, while the aged benzoin provides that warm depth of something familiar and vanilla-like. As the name suggests, it does have a romantic feeling, but not sure it's quite as hopeless, leaning more towards feminine floral-fruit sweet and green for a sometime frolic over careless giving of one's heart to almost any. But like a true Coeur d'Artichaut, unfortunately the time spent is temporary, leaving now desired in spending time together. (too mango and feminine for me)
