Morosexual

I tested this blind twice. The first time it opened up with an initial breath of Satya Nag Champa as if I walked into a crystal healing zodiac mystic shop, but it also had a follow up of something more like citric acid, like lime crystal light. I also get tones of black licorice (but I also just polished off a bag of jelly belly bridge mix yesterday). The second time I got a herbal take on a less sweet Dr. Pepper. An interesting entry providing a deep and mysterious undercurrent of sacredness with a brighter tang up top, with some meadows of something lightly floral in-between. By midday I have a relatively soft musky-powdery shadow that has lost its initial character and personality, leaning a little sweet and quite intimate, but also warmly herby. So, looking at the notes the blend of vanilla, tobacco, patchouli, and star anise, swirl together in a rather wavy way. You get little peaks of one here, or another there, but arguably while each could be spotted, none dominate the horizon. The jasmine on the other hand waits for the tide to recede, not so much coming in on its own accord, but coming to the surface after the others are done splashing about. While the opening and dry down don't feel as connected, but rather a slow morphing throughout the day, the result is a long wearing but soft and intimate warm and herby tone with a bit of freshness. It feels fall, but also fitting for crisper spring days and nights. Is it Morosexual? No, it's moro-a-warm kiss.

very sweet and inebriating. i don't think this is a scent that personally suits me, but i could wear this to bed because one whiff is pacifying. i'm not typically a fan of vanilla gourmands, but i think the jasmine and tobacco in this scent is intoxicating and behave as good compliments to the vanilla. the star anise is also evident. i would say there's not a strong progression to this scent -- there's maybe a bit more spiciness to the opening of the scent, but otherwise it stays relatively similar for the duration of wear. i think this would be a great autumn and winter scent, it's basically made for the holidays. if i wore this out, i would likely layer it with something else.

A sweet and playful fragrance, though I do find that something almost sickly and honey-like tickles my nose in a way that feels overwhelming when I smell it. It feels very similar to Treading Water's demimonde, as well, though I prefer that much more to this.
