Saffron

Just came back here to add an update: Since my last testing of Saffron from a dabber... 1. I continued to sniff the dabber sample on my skin. I got more interested in the perfume. 2. To satiate my curiosity and interest, I purchased a decant. Wore it a few times. 3. Liked the decant, so decided to purchase an FB at a good price. Happy place. 4. Saw that Saffron came back in stock at Teone's website, so along with some other FBs, decided to buy a back up. Yep... a long way but now I am a proud owner of this beautiful perfume. I reckon this will layer VERY well with other oudh perfumes/attars/oils. Teone had once wrote to me saying that Garden of Pleasures (GoP) is a very close relative (rephrase) of Saffron. I found it hard to believe. Having tested them side by side, I now agree with her. I like GoP more than I like Saffron, to tell you the truth! Update: I grew of of love with GoP. Decluttered GoP and kept Saffron.

Update: LOL I find my old reviews funny. I own a bottle of this now and enjoy wearing! I love Teone Reinthal. The nose got accustomed to natural ingredients and now I cannot stand some of my commercial perfumes. OG Review: Reminds me of the first whiff I would get upon entering Indian pharmacies. I got a decant of this perfume and tested directly on my skin. Saffron note is nowhere to be found on my skin. I do get champaca and like-vintage bearable flowers. Not a bad-headache inducing fragrance for me. Dry down is better than the opening but won't wear it as a perfume ever. I am adept at identifying notes based on fragrance I smell, but I couldn't guess a single note in this perfume. May be it's such a perfect blend of everything that individual notes are difficult to pick out. Has a rose dominant powdery touch to it. Perfumes generally tend to smell sweeter on my skin, just an FYI.

This one changes so much from first sniff to the dry down. Very medicinal saffron to start but it evolves to a gorgeous deep amber floral. Love!

Middle age male reviewer, moderate frag experience/knowledge. I test things out in a room on paper plates. Prefer natural botanicals as my go-to fragrances. I tested this one out twice because of how interesting it was. I thought I could identify an isolated saffron scent if one was put in front of me. So what this is, confused me quite a bit, but not in a bad way. First, I think there's an underlying saffron in this. But as the current other reviewer stated, this is one heck of a blend, very difficult to actually pin point the listing in the scent profile. Being a natural, notorious for low projection/sillage/longevity, this proves the stereotype wrong. I gave the plate a good dousing, but even still, with plenty of experience with naturals, I know when something has some strength and ooomph behind it. And this does. Projection is great for a natural, sillage also likely is, and now almost 24 hours into it, the dry down is terrific with a great sweet powdery floral bottom ending (projection mostly gone). This starts and lasts with what I would describe as a somewhat herbaceous heady difficult-to-define floral thing, and with potency. Can catch whiffs of it a room or two away and even has a sharp element. MAY even be too intense for some in the herbaceous sharp category. But well worth a sniff. I'm not sure I would ever wear it, but I'll def be happy to use it again as a room scent. It's interesting, different, nothing indolic or animalic nor marine/ozonic/blue/calone (all of which I have zero tolerance for) yet has a freshy element to it. TRNP does a great job, having tested a bunch. They're def a house/brand who know what the natural fans want, managing to merge both art/niche and mass appeal elements here and there to make them very likable and interesting. Cheers.
