West Indian Limes

I'm reviewing this one before I get to the others, because it stands out from their line; it's the strongest, longest-lasting lime scent that I've encountered in a long time. (Which isn't saying much, and I suspect the reason behind this is that a lot of it is synthetic.) The top notes are very crisp and sharp like Trumper Limes but quite a bit stronger, again like cutting into an actual lime. It weakens a bit after the initial citrus blast, but maintains that dirtier, slightly woodier scent that the rind itself has after everything's been squeezed from it. Beyond that, it starts to get sweeter, and even a bit candy-like (hence my suspicions of synthetic notes), but a fairly natural lime rind still obviously remains, along with some light woods. While Trumper GFT's undying lemon note is more convincingly natural than this, the Truefitt is still pleasant enough, and not nearly as bad as comparable designer atrocities, so I don't count this against it. I also don't see GFT as being enough of an apples-to-apples comparison. So if you want one of the myriad English lime scents, don't want it to be gone in a flash, and don't mind if it's got a more synthetic tinge to it, then this is your winner, hands down.

When talking about Truefitt and Hill and those of a similar nature, Geo F Trumper, Taylor of Old Bond Street etc, you have to drop all pre conceived notions about fragrance as these fragrances are more part of a social and cultural etiquette, that of the English Gentleman. When people only think in terms how loud or long lasting a fragrance is then you don't understand where these brands sit in the fragrance world. A traditional English gentleman should be understated, his fragrance should not be obnoxious, it shouldn't be his defining characteristic, these fragrances are used after well executed wet shave, worn with a shirt and tie, preferably Turnbull and Asser, polished Oxford's, a small component of a gentleman.

This is one of the most refreshing fragrances I own. It smells even better than lime itself (in my opinion). Lasts a long time on me, and has good projection. It won't fill a room, but people notice it. I started using it when the weather was cold, so I'm looking forward to trying it in spring and summer. It seems to be holding up fine even in the cold though. Good one!

Was looking for a good lime based fragrance and this is it. Nice presentation. Decent longevity for a lime frag, but the limes won't last all day without reapplication. Still, the smell is great while it lasts. Truefitt & Hill has earned a spot on my shelf.

Just dug this out of a box- a bottle from 2013 purchased in London. So realistic and natural-stronger than a Cologne, absolutely love it. I'm sure the latest bottles are weak.

I was given this as a gift and I would not have paid what the retailer was asking. I love lime cologne and had been looking for a replacement for Crabtree & Evelyn since they stopped selling their West Indian Lime. This is not a replacement. C&E is much more subtle than Truefit. Truefit is BIG lime and not a lot else, except a little lemon. But the lime just seems to hang around, which I kind of like. I wouldn’t wear this in an office as people could be distracted by it. Also, it’s too expensive to use as a work cologne. It is for a special occasion, probably in summer, out doors. I realise I’m kind of damning Truefit with faint praise and that is not my intention. It is just SO big that I wonder how often I am going to have an occasion to show it off! In the meantime, I wish C&E would bring back their version because it was a lime cologne I could and would wear to the office.

Scent is fantastic overall, composition is great and lime is unlike any other I’ve experienced. This would easily be top 5 summer scents for me IF it lasted longer and I wish they had an EDP or even EDT. For now it will get used sparingly when I don’t want scent beyond hour/two. If you want lime for days my reco would be Bohemian Limes (this scent was my gateway to that)

It's just as it says: Limes. Without question, limes completely dominate the fragrance. The lemon is only barely noticeable and I don't pick up the orange blossom, or anything else at all. If you love the smell of fresh limes, this is for you.

Agree with everybody else here. Smells amazing and somewhat unique. Unfortunately it fades really quickly.

Starts smelling like sharp lemon, becomes a candied, sweet lemon quickly. Didn't get anything else. 3-4 hours on skin; more on clothes! Not bad, but not for me.

It’s okay. It’s a very realistic lime smelling frag but that’s about it for me. It lasted about 3-4 hours on me.

I'm not a fan of this...it's not bad, but just smells very synthetic to me. It opens and smells just like a lemon-lime soda, then I get sweet/fruity notes and some florals, and then it disappears. I find it a little too sweet and fruity, and the performance is just atrocious.

Sharp synthetic "lemon essence" blast, gone within minutes and replaced by powdery chemical drydown. Have not noticed any floral midlle notes. Not pleasant at any stages.

It’s a lime bomb, Orange zest, and smells like gumballs. Advantages off my skin pretty quickly. I can’t get that smell of gum balls out of my nose. I don’t like it

I came to this page because I'm watching a YouTube video where the content creator, i.e the "English Gentleman", goes to Trufitt & Hill for a haircut and shave. Towards the end the barber asks the English Gentleman if he would like some fragrance, and the English Gentleman says "yes, the lime", and so the barber grabs this green bottle from his counter and sprays a little on the front of the neck, and only there. So as the reviewer below said, this is applied (to all English Gentleman, in reality or spirit) "after a well executed wet shave". I don't have this one, but I don't have Floris Limes.

Very fresh and fun. Smells so nice and summery! Very youthful and simple just vibrant limes. Doesn’t last as long as I’d hoped.

I agree this fragrance is so tasty but it doesn't last long
