Varens In The Sky

This is a musky white floral with a very polite (not offensive) patchouli goodness, however the caramel note is non existent at least on me. The powdery drydown is very pleasant Edit: 15/05/26 Few ml left in the back of my cupboard, has probably gone rancid and it's definitely NOT how I remembered. It now turned into something diabolical... Screeching, headache inducing patchouli with some uncomfortable sweetness, didn't even bother to know how it dries down into, got very nauseous i had to scrub them off immediately

Solid, classy dupe for Mugler's 'Angel'. With a delicious dry-down! Imagine 'Angel', but no spicy or peppery notes. Earthiness toned down to level 1. The patchouli in 'Varens In The Sky' is (surprisingly) a hint earthy but definitely not as much as Mugler. The opening is a soapy blackcurrant with earthy (indistinguishable) florals. Jasmine is the weakest note on my skin. The dry-down is sublime! Much lighter, subtly powdery and sweeter than 'Angel'. Pralines (I know UdV says caramels, but to me it's pralines), patchouli and a hint of blackcurrant. I do prefer 'Mini Pink' from UdV over this one: It has a very sophisticated & expensive-smelling dry-down. - 'Varens In the Sky' stays faithful to 'Angel', even has the same masculine edge. - 'Mini Pink' strays from its inspiration scent & stands on its own. Fully recommended to people interested in Mugler's 'Angel' & looking for: - A great quality affordable, accessible & inoffensive alternative. - Not a powerhouse, but still great silage and longevity. - This is SUPER office-friendly & doesn't overwhelm people with spices + patchouli earthiness.

swap ethyl maltol for black currant and angel turns into Varens in the sky. a softer version of angel, with a nerfed longevity.

This one is reminiscent of Angel from Thierry Mugler. Angel is terrible in my nose though this one is slightly better. Still, I do not like this perfume.

The sample I have comes across as a much softer version of Angel. (Note: the Angel I have is the OG. The reformulated version may be weaker and closer to this, but I've not tried that one.) Freshly applied from the sample, I got patchouli first, then some woodiness, then sweet notes that I can see being caramel and fruit. The patchouli faded and softened significantly and caramel became more pronounced after a few minutes, which I don't like as well as when this was more patchouli-forward. The caramel does settle and soften like the patchouli did and make a more balanced dry-down. The strong patchouli at the beginning was great, and the dry-down is wonderful, once it gets past that between-time. Very nice, very Autumnal to me, so perfect for this time of year (November at the time of writing this). I really like this but not enough to buy a full bottle, and part of that might just be that I've had Angel so long this is nothing new. I wouldn't go out of my way to acquire a bottle of this, but if I had it I'd happily use it.
