Bohemian Soul

Smells like Dyptique Tam Dao. Less full and embodied version. Less sandalwood and more incense. Incense is one of my favorite notes in perfumery. I prefer my Tam Dao, lasts a lot longer. This is a gorgeous fragrance though, I think it might smell a little bit better. This would probably be best in hotter temps, it would project to where others could smell it too. It’s a happy clean wood citrus fragrance with a backbone of incense. Anyone could wear this. It’s not a daring scent. I really enjoy it, if I didn’t have Tam Dao, I would consider adding it. I’m going to give it a like, as it is a safe scent that everyone would love, I tend to go for the more daring and obscure.

This is just so pleasant. Pretty, soft, mysterious. The opening is green and settles into a beautiful, Milky sandalwood with some powdery floral nuances. I also get a hint of soft, resinous, Japanese style incense. It's definitely in the same vein as Annick Goutal's other fragrances but not as sweet as the ones I've tried. This is so soft and easy to wear without being boring and is my go to for work, when I don't know what to wear, and when I'm around fragrance sensitive friends. I think I always want to have this around!

I've always had a soft spot for the "woody - powdery iris" type. That's why I can compare it with its counterparts. In my opinion, this is a very successful perfume! A classy woody scent takes the lead. And with supporting notes like myrrh and frankincense, it’s simply magnificent! I can also confirm that it shares some common traits with those it’s compared to, but this one stands out because it’s more long-lasting and woodier. Since it has less of a citrus aspect, the woody character isn’t overshadowed.

Bvlgari Pour Homme grew up, stopped being loud and started to think before he spoke. Bohemian Soul instantly took me back to my highschool days, specifically my Junior year, when I wore Pour Homme like it was Holy Water. Bohemian Soul is an excellent herbal freshly for the warmer daytime outings. Great projection and sillage without being obnoxious. Moderate longevity, about 4-6 hours on skin depending on spray count (I do 6). Love and “Add to Cart” on first sniff.

I have heard people comparing it to Byredo's Gypsy Water, and one friend told me to try this. Thank you, Sylvie :) On my skin it starts off fresh and airy, then dries down into a soft sandalwood smell. The only downside is the longevity. It’s definitely a skin scent and only lasts about 3-4 hours on me before fading. But honestly, it smells so gorgeous and calming that I don't mind reapplying. The perfect, easy to wear everyday woody scent for me.

This is a very nice fresh sandalwood fragrance with some beautiful spice. To me, it’s smells very reminiscent of Tam Dao EDP, but not as dirty and raw. This smells of higher quality somehow, Dyptique is very high quality stuff , so more in the essence of how it is perceived. Performance, meh. Not the greatest. This is a fragrance I think everyone would love. It’s happy. Sandalwood is 100% the front runner here. I like it much more than Santal 33.

I love the opening - it's zesty but slightly sweet at the same time, nice combination of bitter artemisia and balsamic olibanum also combo of wood and iris at the heart is refreshing but soft. gentle musky drydown. it's absolutely lovely, completely unisex, leans feminine on me really. I would only wish it were stronger, it feel quite faint, just like Nothing but Sea and Sky of the same house

I love Gaiac so so much. It has a strong gaiac opening, so of course this is gorgeous. The supporting notes lend to the mystery and allure. I think it was genius to have gaiac be the focus. I hope this lasts for an ungodly amount of time

Really like this one! Opens very herbal, reminding me of a spa. My favorite part however is the drydown, comforting wood. Ultimately wouldn't buy a full bottle due to the longetivity, which is on the lower end of moderate.

This is such a comforting scent. Incensey, sweet and powdery. I'm never crazy over incense in fragrance except when it's done this way. The sweetness and powderiness softens it. A lovely fragrance, so well blended.

I do get the Byredo GW resemblance, but where that one has the slightest hint of sweetness, to my nose Bohemian Soul is herbal, earthy and more woody. A dry and comforting scent; calming, but bright.

Sea, sand and skin. This fragrance is perfect for chill summer night on the beach.

Frankincense, cedar, powdery vanillic notes and surprisingly what smells like a a good amount of patchouli, make up this beautiful creamy, sweet yet robust woody aromatic scent that is unusually affordable for the level of complexity found in it. Opening bright and green, yet sweet with a powdery finish, a dense green resinous unlit frankincense note resonates in the opening with a woody backdrop. Soon the sweetness settles to a nice cushion of powdery vanillic musky notes contrasting a tart resinous cedar together with a dense patchouli core, woody, earthy, and dense. In fact I get some occasional chocolate vibes from it that remind me of other powdery vanillic patchouli scents out there. As I wait the woodiness really persists and dominates, cedar, patchouli and warm musk slightly a retro barbershop vibe in the base, not too much, just enough to reminds you that this is at its core a woody aromatic, not a semi-gourmand as the creamy chocolatey almost ice cream-like undertones may suggest. At the time of this review I have not sampled Gypsy Water, which apparently this is suspiciously similar to, but judging from what I get right now this is an excellent masculine leaning all year day scent, half fragrant woody aromatic, half sweet powdery musky semi-gourmand. Edit: I visited the local Byredo booth just to test Gypsy Water to compare expecting to find an even higher-end version of this fragrance, but instead found a daintier, slightly sweeter hence also more feminine leaning cousin of Bohemian Soul without much of that deep resinous woody base, I would say at a 70% similarity, to difference in quality. Easy choice if you ask me.

Writing this review for those who, like I did, find themselves drawn in by that marketing copy. There's plenty to like about this fragrance, but at no moment of the experience do I feel any sense of the excitement of travel, and certainly nothing about the scent connotes anything touching water. Leave aside hopes for relaxing, refreshing coastal breezes and beachy vibes. What you should rather expect is a *very* powdery (I would even say 'dusty'), warm, soft-woody cloud that connotes a stale comfort rather than adventure or lazy cruising. I can sense some freshness in there somewhere, but that powdery quality has it utterly muffled. Projection and longevity are both reasonably strong. The GW comparisons aren't completely off-base, but I would not recommend this is a cheap stand-in, again because of that powder. Some will enjoy this, but sadly it is very much not for me. My partner also HATES this much more than any fragrance I've shown her, lol. EDIT: With time and warmer weather, the 'dustiness' has backed off a little and some subtle but welcome sharpness has come through. Better!

- Woody and fresh aromatics that almost smell citrusy in the opening. I love the opening of this fragrance. It's impressively blended. Smells like it would suit summer wear perfectly. The dry down captures the heat of the day on a sandy beach relaxing reading a book on a vintage beach blanket. Each of the samples comes with a lovely card with description, notes, and a beautifully drawn image. The one that accompanies this fragrance is a beach scene and the image captures the essence of this fragrance perfectly. Love this one and I wasn't expecting to just by glancing at the notes. It's my favorite from the discovery set. It's very much a "your skin but better" scent for me. I definitely smell the gorgeous iris in the drydown. I want a bottle. If you decide to sample this, wait for the drydown on your skin which takes a while. It's worth it. Bohemian Soul might be my favourite I have sampled from the brand. It is aromatic and earthy, and unisex leaning masculine. I would say it defines the fresh spicy category, a great option to wear something with some depth and spice in the warmer months. I detect something cardamom like but there isn't any. This is a rare scent I would like to wear as much as I would like to smell on my husband. A great fragrance for free spirits and nature lovers. The name is spot-on, as per usual with Une Nuit Nomade. Very nicely done.

Another wonderful and beautiful scent from Une Nuit à Montauk. Guaic wood and frankincense with a little powdery iris backing it around 30 minutes. All composed with quality ingredients that never smell Everything from Une Nuit à Montauk has knocked my socks off. I find it a bit similar to Imaginary Authors "Memoirs of a Trespasser" minus some of the smoke and vanilla. A very pleasant small with resins and myrrh. The guaiac wood is very present as well - one of my favorite notes. Woody - almost with a bit of soapiness in the base. Iris is not very present - but its lurking around in the back and settles after a while.

Very fresh and nostalgic - green, aromatic, woody with a touch of incense. Masculine for sure. On my skin the musk and myrrh take center stage pretty quickly, so it switches from “cold and fresh” to “warm and cozy” within 30ish minutes. Sadly the longevity is not there.

The name is well appropriate. A fresh and relaxing fragrance with the notes of artemisia, iris, sandalwood and musk. Unisex, calming, comforting scent. For all seasons. Bohemian Soul reflects perfectly a bohemian journey with modernity. 8/10 Same vibe of Gypsy water
