This smells really good. As a previous poster mentioned, the eucalyptus saves the perfume from being too simple. I also think it makes it more fresh, less warm. I would buy this perfume if it didn't hurt me to breathe when I smell it.

Smells like suntan lotion and a nail salon. I like it.

Rancid, synthetic, plasticky coconut. This must be what Pamela Anderson smells like. If your idea of "California" is a trip to the Playboy mansion, surrounded by fake palm trees, cheap dollar store coconut-scented suntan lotion, silicone bosoms burning in the hot sun, and dirty jacuzzi water, by all means, this is your perfume. Now please pardon me while I scrub my wrists raw. Edit: This perfume is making me cough violently and my fiance just came in here and asked me if I just ate some Thai food. 2nd edit: This putrid stinkjuice won't scrub off. At least it has good longevity...

Thank you to United Scents of America for providing a sample. California is mostly a "suntan lotion" tropical aroma saved from being too simple and common by a dash of green, herbal eucalyptus. I do enjoy coconut notes in fragrances, especially for spring and summer. The coconut in California is definitely the dominant note, but the eucalyptus really acts as its "plus one" and gives it a little twist just before it heads off to typical "beachy" fragrance territory. The vanilla here is also a surprise. Apply this one and sniff your skin about 4 hours later. The coconut suntan scent has burned off, and what's left is a pleasant, earthy, balsamy vanilla aroma, not the spun-sugar variety. California is an enjoyable and youthful warm weather fragrance, whether you need that in July or December.

I really wonder how the combination coconut and vanilla + eucalyptus (which is something I nearly always dislike) is like : it is intriguing me because it may be a good surprise (or not ^^ ).
