Hamartia

I had the pleasure of immersing myself in the enchanting fragrance that has become my daily companion: a scent that embodies the essence of the autumn season. This masterful creation, presents itself with a mysterious and captivating name, promising to take its wearer on a unique sensory journey.

I consider Hamartia to be one of the more mass appealing and well rounded fragrances by this house. It has a little bit of sweetness, a little bit of spice, a tiny bit of freshness and it all is well blended together. Other than chocolate and bergamot it is hard for me to pull out other notes. I believe this can be worn all year round and to any occasion without offending anyone. On my very cool skin the performance is moderate: about 6 hours longevity and moderate to light sillage, but my skin almost always does not give perfume strong projection.

Thought I would love this. But sadly, I do not. In this perfume, I detect none of the notes that spoke to me (coffee, chocolate, cardamom, florals). This perfume offers zero sweetness; it's all dark, herbaceous & green. Opens with sharp cardamom, black pepper and other spices. Develops as an aromatic, earthy, CAMPHOROUS, herbaceous, woody fragrance. The patchouli is RAW, green, mossy and medicinal (NOT aged, dark, or chocolate). The fragrance heart is dank, vegetal, earthy, green and dark. Green patchouli dominates. The base is heavy mixed woods, TONS of vetiver...and damp, herbal patchouli. Hamartia is complex but spicy-green-woody-earthy-aromatic. Leans masculine. Wears chilly and austere. Disappointing, to say the least. Cannot see myself wearing this on any regular basis. Might be a good bed-time, aromatherapy kind of scent...
