Valentino Donna Born In Roma Yellow Dream

Wow. This is so elegant. Powdery sweet lemon. Reminds me of my childhood. I have to get a full size soon. edit: I finally got a bottle and this one is stunning. This is a “meet the parents” type of scent. There is no freshness to this perfume. It’s more of a soapy powdery aromatic scent with some sweet lemons in the background. I am surprised “soapy” isn’t an accord. I love it. I think that it’s different from anything I have. It’s a chameleon though. Some days it feels more powdery and musky and other days it’s a soapy sweet lemon smell. This is fitting for all occasions. I feel so clean and put together whenever I wear this. This one is the most powdery and aromatic out of the entire Born in Roma line. edit: pair this ONLY with a fresh rose scented lotion. I tried pairing this with a citrus musk scented lotion and it brings out this sour astringent musty quality that I do not like. The rose lotion helps retain this juicy sweet rose accord throughout the entire wear. It also lasts soooo long like 7 hours. edit: Having owned this for almost a year now, this is probably my most uplifting, joyful scent in my collection. It is a proper and clean, sophisticated scent that is like the feminine version of men’s cologne. Perfect for a signature everyday scent and special occasions. I can’t wait to purchase my next bottle in the biggest size. Reminds me of sunshine rays, lemons, slick buns, baby powder, and Dove soap with a creamy touch of vanilla. I’ll wear this in the springtime through the autumn, especially on cloudy or rainy days. It is a lovely rose in the springtime, perfectly zesty enough for the summer, and soft enough for warm autumn days.

I got a really great deal on 2 10ml travel sprays, unsure if I’d love it or end up gifting it. I absolutely love this fragrance! It has that DBIR DNA with beautiful musky rose. The lemon up top is not detectable to my nose, which I’m fine with cause I have a weird relationship with lemon notes. This wears really well projects for hours. I wish I’d tried it sooner! I don’t really think the name or color of the juice portrays it very well, at least to my nose, but I still think the color is pretty. I wasn’t expecting to love this so much and I wanna keep both of my travel sprays, but my best friend’s birthday is in a few days and I’m definitely gifting her one. For me, this is totally full bottle worthy! I’ve tried and own all the DBIR flankers (DBIR intense only grabbed my attention enough to get a .5oz bottle), except for Coral Fantasy, and so far, I actually think this one is my favorite... At least right now. I know it’s not niche at all, but I think it’s really nice for a designer spring and summer scent and for people like my best friend who don’t care for heavy scents (she thinks 90% of my fragrance wardrobe is “super strong” 😂). EDIT: I wanted to share this since I found it on another site (the perfume spot), and a lot of people including me were saying this smells like it has more than the 3 notes listed. So here’s what The Perfume Spot says: “Top notes: Italian primofiore lemon, Calabrian bergamot, Lychee. Heart notes: Turkish rose, Peony, Rose water. Base notes: White musk, Bourbon vanilla, Virginia cedar.” That sounds about right to me and my nose! 😍

Valentino Donna Born In Roma Yellow Dream smells like a burst of sweet lemon that isn't so tart. Such a beautiful opening, lemonade slightly sweetened with some sugar. Right after, I get this airy, white musky jasmine. One of the few jasmines executed in fragrances I actually like, that's in all the DBIRs. It's blended beautifully with the lemon and rose. A sparkling, perfumey jasmine lemonade. I know rose is the only floral listed, but I also get jasmine lol. Which makes sense because that floral is the central dna in the original Donna Born in Roma and most of the flankers. Yellow Dream is refreshing and perfect for spring and summer; the lemon is sweetened enough to wear when it's cooler. The jasmine and musk is really what seals the deal for me, and reminds me a little of the musk in Forvr Mood You Remind Me which has more sweetness at times. It doesn't last the longest but it's certainly a great refresher, balanced in smell and diverse in wearing opportunities. It's on Valentino's website which means it's not fully discontinued! So I'll just keep buying from there to keep it alive or the few discount websites.

Obsessed. It’s a beautiful sweet rose and a soft lemon scent. It feels fresh and classy. Fragrantica doesn’t have all the notes listed. There is also Calabrian Bergamot, peony, madagascan vanilla absolute, and Virginia cedar wood in addition to the lemon, rose, and musk. Caught me by surprise. Wearing this makes me feel like I AM inviting, comforting, and feminine. I am angelically cozy in this. Yellow of a halo rather than the yellow of sunshine. Starts off with a noticeable peony. Maybe it's got a lot to do with how this reacts to my body chem, because when I tell you I get stopped multiple times *every* time I wear this, I am not exaggerating. Strangers, coworkers, my friends (EVERY time, even though they've smelled it on me before), friends of friends -- ev.ry.one. I have linked so many women AND men to this perfume because they're dying to know what it is. I once dropped a gift off at a friend's house while he wasn't home and he told me later that he knew I had been inside because he could smell this. Another man almost fell down the stairs complimenting me on it once. It's alarming. But even still, I would not say this is a safe blind buy. Comes alive in the colder months. Also, come ooon. Such a satisfying, tactile bottle design. Wonderful to touch.

I sprayed this on at the counter and instantly fell in love, I also knew Ihad smelled this scent before. I rushed home and found a 90ml bottle online for a very good price. However the feeling of having smelled this before kept nagging me so the next day I dug through my stash, and lo and behold this is almost identical to Mandarina Duck So Bella! So Chic! I would say it's 90-95% identical. The best part of finding this 'dupe' is MD is about 1/4 of the price. I picked up a 100mL bottle for $25CAD. I'll probably gift the Valentino, but I do love it so much I may just keep it anyways. Back to Yellow Dream, to me it is a beautiful, fresh and creamy lemon. Like an Italian limoncello gelato, not tart like a sorbet but not as lactonic as an ice cream. The base is a lightly sweet musk, with very light floral notes. It's a sophisticated citrus freshie.

I received a trio of Donna BIR and decided to sniff all but wear only one today. This was the one i was most curious about so wearing now. I didn't think i would like it, but i really do! When i think of lemon in scents, i always think of light blue type lemon and that is definitely NOT what this is. I dont get a “summer fresh citrus” really at all. This is more of a “cloudy lemon” vs a “sunshine lemon”. i can see some similarity to irish spring soap, but there is more to this than a soapy accord, the rose and musk elevate it above soapy. I think the rose and lemon blend nicely. It doesn’t smell cheap, and it is a nice change from all of the super sweet/vanilla/jasmine scents that are popular now. I think it could be any season really, i don't think this lemon is limited to summer and spring. Try it! It is different.

Amazing!!! This is exactly what I want from an perfume and I want to smell! Is romantic, feminine and sensual and “airy” somehow. The women who prefer perfumes like Black Orchid( even though I like that) and this types of scents I doubt they will like this. To me is floral but in the lightest way a floral perfume can be ( like fresh- floral) if that makes sense and fortunately I don’t smell any rose and the lemon is barely there, like just a drop to give that freshness sensation. Is more a skin scent, at least on my skin but the longevity is surprisingly good. For years I didn’t love so much a fragrance!!! I realized once again that I like perfumes to be simple with just few ingredients in them. This is my new signature fragrance ! Thank you Valentino!!

I definitely think this scent needs a skin test..on the strip..boring..on skin..perfection! No it’s not the most complex scent but they still captured a beauty. It manages to be delicate yet bold like it’s soft but you’ll catch wafts of it. Its starts with a very clean citrus/floral that carries throughout and turns into just lovely soft spicy fresh powdery musky floral I thought very subdued Dior Joy meets dialed down Dylan turquoise. I think if you like either of those or just soft fresh musky florals you’ll like this one. I have and love the mens version & though I still think the names silly lol I think they did a great job with both in this edition, like I said this really just needs some skin though to make it come alive.

I was at Ulta and grabbed this bottle by mistake, but immediately when I sprayed, I was taken by a sweet, clean, uplifting scent. A minute or two later, I detected a lush, freshly cut pink rose & peony bouquet. Valentino lists peony as a note, which is missing from the pyramid above. Now that I have a full bottle, I smell tons of white musk. In fact, this reminds me of the 80s altogether! It's almost the exact scent of something from the 80's that I just cannot put my finger on--could be Nude by Bill Blass. It's very nostalgic for me, as white musk was extremely popular in those days and was featured heavily in many fragrances and scented products.

When I first sampled this I didn’t like it. But lately I have been loving musk fragrances and this one has my full attention at the moment. The lemon, rose and Madagascan vanilla absolute are blended together so harmoniously that I now want a full bottle. But what really stands out after a few minutes of sitting on my skin is the Madagascar vanilla and musk, then the rose/lemon. This is a pretty spring and summer scent. This kinda reminds me of the base notes of Deja Vu by Kayali but this is more subdued and not as loud. Which I prefer because Deja Vu almost made me nauseous.

The performance is amazing. This is the prettiest floral perfume I own. It’s so inviting and inoffensive. This lasts BEAUTIFULLY. I feel like it melts like butter on the skin, so imagine how much longer it lingers on clothing. Definitely designed as a day time SS (summer/spring) fragrance. Casual! Not too “date-affiliated” or “work oriented”. It’s versatile and just a beautiful perfume. Out of all the perfumes I’ve tested & bought, Valentino has some of the best projecting & performing fragrances (in the same category w/ Chanel, Mugleir & Armani). 9.8/10

Right in between YSL Libre EDP and Chanel No. 5 but not as aggressive as either. Lovely classy fragrance for everyday wear. Gentle citrus and powdery floral. On skin, I think there are more notes than are listed and they're well-blended. I smell lavender, bergamot or perhaps its ylang ylang that's reminding me of Chanel, jasmine, a little light rose, orange blossom, neroli, and a little cedar. I will say though that this blurs out relatively quickly which is when it turns more musky and I'm not convinced it will last particularly long.

This was the first of the Born In Roma line that I purchased (I'm more partial to citrus and fresh scents). I enjoy it quite a lot, but I do wish it lasted longer. It's a super pleasant quiet citrus musk that lasts around 3 or so hours for me. Perfect for spring/summer, just need to spray a little more on than usual, probably. This is a safe blind buy in my opinion, if you like the original Donna Born In Roma and Chanel Eau Fraiche EDT, you will like this. Work safe, casual scent, I really enjoy it. I liked this at first sniff. I layer over Twilly in the winter and the dry down is really nice. On its own the dry down is a bit lighter but it's nice as well. Need a lot of it to get to beast mode. I've heard folks on YouTube say Yellow Dream smells like a cleaning product, so to preface my love of this - my nose is a fan of citrus perfumes (and musk and rose). Voila! I find Yellow Dream elegant, it smells expensive, my clear favorite of Born in Roma Series. Daytime winter scent (and perhaps a night-time summer scent?)

This scent actually evokes one emotion in my ... which is simply happiness. Smelling it really makes me happy and makes me think of sun rays. I smell bergamot in this, although it isn't listed. From all the Valentino fragrance that I've smelled, this is for sure my favorite one! And even though I like more niche/unique fragrance... I think I will actually end up purchasing a full bottle, because its just so bright, happy, fresh, light and uplifting. It would be perfect for an everyday ware! Very very nice fragrance 🌞

The original DBiR DNA is in here, but it's very faint- almost like you did one spritz of the original and then layered it with something else, or like you were wearing it the night before adding another perfume in the morning and it's just lingering. The citrus, peony and rose notes definitely nudge this towards a more springy, daytime perfume with less of the powerful sexiness of the original. It's not a groundbreaking scent by any means but I really like it- it's probably my second favorite flanker after the green.

This is actually the first full size perfume I ever bought, and rightfully so. All of the notes blend together beautifully, and to be honest, I see myself wearing it in any season – I especially like reaching for it during special occasions or holidays. Spray it on your winter coat and there will still be remnants when you pull it back from storage the following season. Mature, but not "old lady", expensive but not snotty, comforting but not a scent to keep to yourself at bedtime – wear her outside!

Valentino, you broke my heart discontinuing this gorgeous, simple and sexy fragrance! 3 ingredients but so beautifully blended! It starts with a beautiful fresh soft lemon, not tart. Then the rose says hello I'm here like a burlesque dancers leg peeking through a curtain, and then a gorgeous musk dry down is like that burlesquedancer finally stepping out of the curtain. I get that musk doesn't always mix well with everyone's body chemistry but why discontinue this and replace it with green vanilla?

This is actually my favorite of the born in Roma series. I bought the travel spray box specifically for the original born in Roma spay.. ended up enjoying this one more. I can see what others are saying about it smelling like YSL Libre : it does. Although, it smells like a more beautiful and expensive version of it. I was blown away since it was a blind buy. Definitely an early morning fragrance, feminine and sexy without being raunchy. Classy, light and bright. A yellow dream...
