Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Rockstud Noir

Got a sample of this fragrance at a department store. It is fresh, clean, aromatic, and green. I really like it, eventhough it is very basic in its composition and lacks complexity. To my nose, this is essentially sage with very limited influence from other notes. There might be some citrus in the opening but that quickly dissipates. There are also other supporting molecules that give it elevation and a pop. Moreover, it does have a clean laundry scent, so I agree with a comment below that mentions laundry dryer sheets. But I don't think the average person would jump to that conclusion right off the bat. So in that regard, it isn't unique as there are many other scents that have a predominant sage note. I only tried Ralph's club once a long time ago, so I cant remember how close it is to Rockstud, but I tried YSL Myself the other day and I wouldn't say it is that close, as Myself was sweeter and more floral. The sage does remind me of Code Parfum 2022, but I wouldn't say they are the same as Code Parfum has more notes that give it complexity. Rockstud is versitile, but I would say leans more casual and office use. I don't think the age group is restricitive here and I think anyone can pull this off, but I would say the freshness and the supporting molecules give a youthful feel, so perhaps ideal age group is <40. But again, not really restrictive like the other flankers, e.g. BIR Intense and Coral fantasy. I haven't worn it outside so I can't speak on perfromance, but it seems to be inline with what you would expect from an EDT. Despite the simplicity, I think it is a very pleasant fragrance. An avid collector might find it disinteresting compared to something complex that develops and morphs from opening to dry down, but I think someone who is starting their collection or just wants a nice everday fragrance will appreciate it. I REALLY, I mean REALLY don't get the comparison or resemblance to Ralphs club. I have both, and Ralphs club smells pure lavender, with just some darkness. Whilst this is WAY WAY WAY more comparable to YSL myslf, both have a nice citrusy top note, with a really smooth soapy vibe, although myslf is quite a bit brighter and sweeter, and not as well blended+worse performance. I find this fragrance amazing, i find it to be the best of the born in Romas, as the edt has a vetiver note which can make it smell somewhat like a Lynx deo spray. BiR intense is good, but nothing unique i haven't smelt before. Green stravaganza lacks in uniqness and wear-ability, it's boring and fine, yet they ruin it by making you smell like coffee, no thanks. Yellow dream is alright, just too swæeet. And coral fantasy is only really usable in the winter (don't get me wrong it's amazing), but not in the warmer weather. I really think this is the best out of the Valentino line, not because it smells the best, but because every day I see my self reaching for this one, because it's an AMAZING clean, soapy, smooth, well blended, people pleasing fragrance. I pretty much get compliments every day from girls on how good I smell. If you're a teenager, I could not recommend this more.

Unique Fragrance in my opinion The Notes : To start off with, the notes are pretty simple, bergamot, sage and ambergris. But somehow, they work incredibly well with each other. They create a very unique smell that you can't compare it with any other fragrances. Longevity : It doesn't that long, nor does it last that short. It has a moderate longevity but it's enough. The fragrance usually lasts ~10 hours - Enough for an average school day for adolescents in high-school, secondary school, etc. You could call it a school fragrance. Strength : The smell is not THAT big, unlike Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir or Dior Sauvage Elixir. But it's still big enough to be smelled within a 1-3 meter radius. The smell isn't that strong neither, doesn't have that much alcohol within. It's fresh and nice. My signature scent : I use the Rockstud Noir as my signature because it's very versatile, won't be criticized [Addition : I have a friend who owns fragrances like Kilian's Angel Share and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Ultra Male, but his scent always gets called as smelly] by other people and can sometimes pull compliments. I.E. Rockstud Noir is a hit or miss for collectors, it's between you think that it's boring or you think that it's fresh and unique

Comes down to personal preferance but this is by far my favourite fragrance from Valentino's Born In Roma line. It's a very green, herbal, citrusy fragrance. Somewhat similar to YSL's MYSLF but not as floral, seen it's similar to Ralph's Club but never tried it so can't comment on that. Vetiver isn't listed but it's definietly here because it has a little bit of an earthy vetiver feel to it. Not dirty tho because it has a clean fresh shampoo scent to it. Good all year, versatile, any occasion type of fragrance. It’s an EDT, it doesn’t project a lot but it easily lasts 7-8 hours that would get you through the day. I would repurchase this and wear it over MYSLF anytime and i like MYSLF quite a lot, it just smells like a superior more mature & masculine version of it.

Update: Just received this, and yes...about 80% Ralph’s club. I don’t blame Valentino by any means - it’s L’Oreal that has taken most of these houses to reruns and cash grabs (they also control Ralph Lauren, Azzaro, YSL and so many others, imagine that). I am a collector - and I like how this smells, so it’s not a total regret. But if you have Ralph’s club and aren’t really a collector, sadly this can be skipped as it’s nothing more than a corporation making certain they grab every bit of the market they can before moving to the next scent. The original Uomo is what really took me from “casual wearer” to collector and I don’t think there’s a release in the Uomo line I don’t like, with the exception of maybe Noir Musc. Will update when I get the bottle.

Can't wait for summer to check it out in full sun. RN may seem similar to RL polo club, but only if you don't have them next to each other. If you have them, you will notice that valentino is much better, it is fresher, more citrusy due to the bergamot, It suits me much better It completes the born in roma line very well. If someone liked OG, but og version was too sweet, fruity for him, then here it is perfectly transformed into a more sophisticated, less sweet version. I laugh when someone writes about ysl y .... maybe you still smell sauvage here? something is wrong with your nose.... you can smell Ambergris, because it is dominant here, so if you don't like it, don't buy it

VERY VERY close to Ralph’s Club EDP, with slightly better longevity. I’d have considered keeping this if I didn’t already have RC, but they really are like 95% similar that it’d be a redundant purchase simply for the bottle. 03.24 Update: wound up keeping it. Wore it a few more times, and it really opened up for me. I still feel the sage comes across in a similar fashion as the lavender in RC, but the bergamot is sour and bright in the opening, and the ambergris base is fresh, clean, slightly musky. Overall, even though I wasn’t initially impressed, I’m glad I kept this. It’s REALLY grown on me, and I can’t wait to wear this all summer long.

Another incredible addition by the Valentino Uomo line. I don’t get these reviews. People don’t even own it yet and give it bad reviews based off of what they think it will smell like. You people are hilariously pretentious. If you want a great smelling cologne this is definitely a great choice. You cannot go wrong with it. Unless you dislike aromatic fragrances

@marooned - 100% You got China fake, there are lots of them on eBay. You have to be careful, it's best to compare it with others from your collection. It's impossible for it to last only 20 minutes, because none of the Valentino perfumes have this problem. this version is better than RL rc.

Ill never understand why they discontinued this, I think it was one of there best from the uomo line and I so hope the bring back the tomorrow version, as the new version smells nothing like the original 💔

this smells a lot like Invictus Parfum, 90% despite being looked very dark, leathery or sth, this is very easy to wear, versatile and compliment getter I prefer this over YSL or Invictus

Valentino rocks this even better than MYSLF or Y youthful, fresh, a bit sweet, unisex very versatile and compliment getter for sure

This is aight. The scent is very common, you have defo smelled something similar to this some time in your life, but that doesn't mean its bad, quite the contrary actually, i do like it, reminds me of Percival in a weird way and Invictus platinum's drydown you will probably get some compliments while using it (if u are a complementable person) This scent is about a 72/100 for me. The sillage is a 54/100. Longevity is a 61/100 (about 5-8 hours) uniqueness is a 26/100 (nothing new here) Age range: could be a first fragrance for a teen and wouldn't use it after 25.

I mean I like it. If I was a fraghead collector, its already in my colle. But thinking racionaly its just nice fragrance, which delivers, but its forgetable and after a while its a skin scence. Which might be different for others, but I have other Valentinos to wear and theres no need for this one for me. But the smell is nice, thats a fact.

First impressions it’s like they took the bubblegum sweetness out of the original born in Roma & refined it made it more grown up more soapy blue. It’s like the same thing they did with ysl y intense where they took out the sweetness & made it more blue & grown up.

Don’t get why they had to go the basic soapy blue way for this rockstud limited release. Smells like a cool water flanker. I was expecting or hoping for a leathery darker take on the original. Pretty disappointed.

Great fragrance for a young guy! I would say in the category of a clubbing scent. received this as a gift so i cant really complain about a free fragrance lol but its a great scent

its safe blind buy. a simple scent. everyone will be okay with how it smells. not a wow or like it alot type. and lastly scent profile is not worth the price.

Dead ringer for Ralph's Club EDP. The differences are so slight, you really can't tell them apart, especially in the air. I was hoping for something sharper, since the name is Rockstud Noir after all. There is a fuzziness to it, probably from the ambergris, so it projects just a bit further and seems to last a slight bit longer on my skin. These naming conventions simply don't describe the juice inside the bottles at all. It has a VUI bottle, but generic contents. If you own the Ralphs Club EDP or the Parfum, you can most likely skip this unless you are a big Valentino collector.

I have a boxed bottle with at least 95ml remaining from a 100ml. UK only sorry but to much hassle to ship abroad. Can also show proof of purchase. Nice enough fragrance but I already own multiple similar ones and I've only used once or twice in nearly 2 years. If anyone interested message me.

smells like a fresh man. clean but personally not a fan, don't know how to describe it stuffy? although it does smell as summer scent does doesn't feel like one. Because its a fougère frag it does smell like a green and aromatic fresh fern which is something i like about it? no idea.

Extremely boring and flat. No performance at all. It lasts 25 minutes than standard skin scent. Even on the clothes it dissapears after 40 minutes. No projection, no sillage... I really dont know why Valentino did a fragrance like this? It is a shame for the brand.

Got unexpected visitors coming and just tooted a big one into the toilet? Couple of sprays of this and vola! Smells like toilet cleaner or a just cleaned bathroom. I mean, it doesn't smell bad, but it's not something I personally want to smell like.

Not my fav in the Borne in Rome line but I guess it’s a good one for teenagers who are just beginning to experiment colognes that are not sold in supermarkets 😂 a little soapy for my liking. Overall it’s a thumbs down and won’t be getting it

Not a very exciting scent for being a limited edt, it's ok but nothing special, it has been done before and cheaper, sadly Valentino can't find the way back to make magic in fragrances anymore, one of this years weaker releases for me.

I don’t like that inky deep note that it has .. its not fresh .. has make up smell and a nutty facet too .. its not what you think its not a summer fragrance

It’s a fresh clean sent to me, smells like a sweetish green laundry detergent. Initial spray reminded me so much of YSL Myslf but it changes as it dries

Sigh., They properly cannot make green fragrances anymore. It is only slightly green. Why always dilute the greeness with funky incense, blue ambergris notes and feminine powder? This is sweet. Similar vibe as Pure XS. Soapy but in a cheap and offputtibg way. To me a very bad fragrance release, the name got me hoping but ultimately just disappointing that it’s a blind follower of (the now old) sweet trend and misses on being something masculine and unique. Nothing ”rockstar” about bring mediocre!

Such a disappointment... "Rockstud Noir"... and then you give us a YSL's Y smell? It has that horrible aromatic soapy note that Y edp has, that I honestly cannot stand, it's an anathema to me. R*ckstud Noir? More like F*ckboy Bleu.

.......Smells like straight up dryer sheets. Very VERY clean, very pleasant, very inoffensive . Close family member to polo Ralph’s club (all of em) and Ysl myself, but it is its own person with its own direction and slight tweaks to the super clean aspect. I own over 300 frags and this one has its new forever home in my collection, even bought a backup cuz it’s a limited run. If you don’t like to smell super clean then avoid this one. But if super clean dryer sheets speaks to you then I highly recommend this one. 10/10 for cleanness. It’s says animalic in the base, but I don’t get that what so ever not at all animalic, not sure why they’re decided to list that, seems misleading, it’s Not animalistic at all. Very versatile, all day any day.

Saw this on the counter, judging by the name alone you could've fooled me into thinking that it's going to be some kind an ultra alpha male sexpanther pheromone with notes of leather, patchouli, tobacco, rum, sweat, latex, goat hair, cement and bad decisions, but unsurprisingly it's yet another unremarkable designer scent, pretty similar to Ralph's Club as some have mentioned. Not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed. It's okay, I'd wear it, but if you were to ask me what I'm wearing and my answer was "Valentino Uomo Born In Roma ROCKSTUD NOIR" I'm not sure I'd be comfortable saying that out loud.

I don’t have Ralph’s club, but I do have Myslf and they are quite similar. Very much a blue style fragrance, despite the bottle design. Not really much to say about this one, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s simple, clean like a shower gel, but with a Valentino quality to it. I can definitely understand why this one hasn’t gotten much hype, but I am glad to have it in my collection and I will certainly get some use out of it. This is a great gifting fragrance because it’s safe for just about anyone to wear, and the bottle looks awesome sitting on the shelf.

As with all new Valentino releases, I want to try this so badly! I wonder if it being a limited edition means it will be online exclusive, though? As for the design, now we already have quite some bottles that look very alike. Might confuse buyers. This new one looks a lot like Uomo Intense (both original as 2021 version) and Uomo Edition Noire (which isn't available anymore, so ok, that will not confuse). Uomo Born in Roma Coral Fantasy and Uomo Born in Roma Intense also look very alike.

I gave this as a gift to a relative but had forgotten how it smelled. I smelled it again and decided I wanted it for myself. Nordstrom said it had been discontinued. It has the most elegant green and fresh accord, complimenting an exotic marine insinuation. Ambergris? Judging by the ambiguous reviews, I suppose it was not very popular. It is a wonderful scent!

The best valentino was the first one, why don't they just make it more fruity with some apple and keep that DNA? Dear valentino, if you read this follow my advice: Apple, Violet Leaf, Lavender, Musk, Cedar wood, Orange blossom, Jasmine, Clary sage Make the violet leaf the focal point of the fragrance and use the fruit, florals & wood to balance it out.

This may not be super unique but it smells REALLY good. It's a highly versatile crowd pleaser. I'd rather have this than Ralph's Club or MYSLF as I prefer the Valentino Uomo bottle style and it sits nicely with my other VU bottles.

As others mentioned, it also reminds me of many popular frags on the markets. Nice versatile perfume, with misleading name. Nothing special, imo. The original Valentino Uomo is so much better.

I found it a bit similar to mont blanc legend spirit, which has ambergris. Sage is the main note. Did not like it.

Smells unique in comparison to the rest of the line. Not a fan of designer otherwise.
