Moonlight Rose

i picked this up today. My initial impression was that i already have a large number of rose and patchouli perfumes, and this was another pleasant version of the same, however as it developed on my skin, the richness of the roses and the base notes created such a wonderful drydown, that an hour after testing i had to go back and buy a full bottle. The absence of the usual musk, sandalwood and amber notes creates quite a unique rose patch. It lasted for ages (8 hours plus) and i delighted with the purchase. This house continues to impress with unique perfumes. Edit: Just testing Moonlight Patchouli and Moonlight Rose side by side, MP is softer, floral and feminine, a western style floral and MR is a more jammy rose, much stronger and with oriental hints.

My husband absolutely loves this, which is great because it lasts *forever*. I've smelled it in my hair even after a shower. The initial harsh cinnamon note fades quickly. Once it dries down it's sexy and not at all powdery. This is a gorgeous woody rose with a hint of raspberry, perfect for cooler weather. IMO too intense for summer but it is my date-night perfume once the temperature dips below 65. Edit: An update after having this perfume for most of a year--I've received more compliments on this perfume, from friends, my husband, and strangers, than any other I've ever worn.

This is so sexy and crazy good! The performance is top tier. All the notes play together very well. It's earthly, but bright with the geranium and then the patchouli, rose, and woody notes give it this regal sexy vibe. This is prestige in a bottle and reminds me a lot of Armani Prive Rose D'Arabie. Similar vibe....formal, gala, charity dinner, perhaps a milestone celebration date night type of scent. It's a gem! For one Elegant and sophisticated person with expensive taste. Surprisingly, the fragrance is not astronomical in price, which is a plus.

MASTERPIECE. Very rarely you come across a perfume so perfect, that you just say “wow”. This is one of those. What a perfume !!!

Masterpiece. This is portrait of a lady's younger cousin. Unisex and and a very seductive patchouli dark rose. I need it.

Moonlight Rose Van Cleef & Arpels (USD90, Test Box) I blind brought Moonlight Rose, what a romantic name. Fabrice Pellegrin is perfumer, he create a lot of Diptyque. So I don't think, he won't create a very dense syrupy scent. When I go through review I am really not sure what will I get. However, I have experience Bois d'Iris. It have certain unique structure Belong to Van Cleef & Arpels, hard to believe that VC&A won't stay on its core. Yes, I am right. Moonlight Rose is that oreintal saffron syrup rose and patchouli DNA. But it turns so light as this DNA truly build on Modern Material. VC&A reinterpreted this scent in more airy kind of way. It’s really moonlight. luminous and radiant. This is obvious reuse DNA. But the adjustment is good. by material, this really diffusive. Leave a touch of Patchouli with tint of moss, ylang still radiance. Classy, it wear more like a French manner. ===== Edit 1 (Fri 13 Receber 2024) I find this is soft spicy.. like there is certain Cuminy / Cinnamony undertone in the mix. And definitely spice saffron. It kind of create soft leathery effect for this fragrance. Midnight Rose, have certain "Oudy" style amber in it. It is very projective and strong. It is strong. you kind of get a whip of saffrony rose and soft : dry-woody-moosy patchouli mix. Kind of "Eau Capitale" by Diptyque effect. However, there is certain aspect that feel like crisp musk in the base (the one that use a lot in newest Givenchy release) it's kind of counterbalance that strong "Oudy" amber. Very harmonize in the manner that I haven't sniff before. During the wear there is only certain moment that the Vanilla is slight strong and it is a bit synthetic but when phase move away to Patchouli dominant. that's sexy. I don't find this close to POTL.. maybe I gotta do some sprays test. but I think Midnight Rose is solid release.

To me Moonlight Rose is similar to Noir de Noir or Boadicea's Ardent. There is lots of dark facets of patchouli, earthiness, but it is also a gourmand-ish rose. Quite beautiful, very feminine, more straightforward feminine and less dark than POAL. The initial spray is full on patchouli earthiness, but it is soon complemented by a jammy rose. In comparison to Moonlight Patchouli, this one is much more gourmand.

I have and love Van Cleef's Rose Rouge, so I was fully expecting to love this too. Tested in store. It's perfectly fine, but also, nothing outstanding IMO. Rose and patchouli, well done, but nothing special and I feel like I have other fragrances in my collection that outshine this. Not for me, because it would be redundant in my collection, but a very nice fragrance that may delight someone else.

Honestly, I have the impression that the quality of the latest Collection Extraordinaire releases is not as good as it used to be. I am especially thinking of my favorites California Réverie, Ambre Impérial and Bois Doré that are smooth and natural smelling. However, Moonlight Rose is far from those previous masterful creations: the majority of ingredients seem synthetic in an overly obvious way, even the patchouli does not portray any of its naturally inherent earthy edge. The drydown is mostly musky-woody, a combination you can find in many run-of-the-mill department store perfumes. I definitely expected more based on my previous experiences. The only interesting thing about Moonlight Rose is its unexpected opening with a blast of saffron, oudy wood and rose. Unfortunately, that part was only short-lived before the fragrance took a dive into the ocean of forgettable fragrances.

It’s like if you mixed Moonlight Patchouli with Mancera’s Roses Vanille, ie., add sweet jammy roses to Moonlight Patchouli and you get Moonlight Rose. It’s okay and smells nice, but I don’t really care for it. It smells too much like many rose-based Arabian fragrances that can be had for cheaper, nothing new here. Moonlight Patchouli is my preference.

On my skin, this was a disappointment. The opening is harsh with a strong cinnamon note that feels off. The pink pepper's also insisting too much to be noticed. An hour or so later, the spices are not as persistent, but the rose never takes center stage. It's too much of a ghost, it doesn't smell real to me. The patchouli is strong, and the note itself reminds me of the patchouli in Mon Guerlain Intense, which I love. Here it's not as balanced, and feels too much to my nose. I'm very happy that I didn't blind buy this. From reading about it, I expected to love it, and when I saw it on sale, God, it was so tempting! But this one really needs testing on one's own skin before buying. My favourite rose scent is Smyrna from Le Couvent, which is a joy from the initial spray and all the way through dry down. The thought of a darker, stronger rose scent, and the romantic name, made me seek out Moonlight Rose, but it was not for me.

To me this is nothing like Moonlight Patchouli which is sweet, powdery and smooth. MR is quite like POAL but without the dirty cumin. It is very austere due to the oak moss, and there is very little sweetness about it at all. In fact I think I will need to add some more sweet rose to it because it is very masculine to me. It is well done but not ravishingly beautiful. I think I will be able to make something of it though. It has a very big sillage and does not develop much- just strong, dry rose, patch, oak moss. Moonlight Patch is much better.

Really close to Moonlight Patchouli, but just has the rose in it (duh). Projection is not that strong but it is a really elegant and luxurious perfume. I still prefer moonlight patchouli, but this one is for rose lovers. Definitely unisex feminine leaning. Rose doesn`t have old lady vibes and is not soapy. I think its a fairly good blind buy as everything is blended extremely well, as expected from Van Cleef. top quality.

This is GORGEOUS. She's wise, she's dark and mysterious, and she's oh-so-smoooooth. It's perfectly damp and rosey - feels like velvet on the skin. And the dry down is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼. I'm wanting a dark, warm, rose scent for fall this year and this may be a contender. Gorgeous GORGEOUS fragrance. Also noted: I can see where this is similar to radical rose, but this is so much better blended and just a smidgen more complex!

This is an interesting fragrance. I like the floral notes combined with darker, woody notes. There's something about it that I can't quite agree with - potentially the mossy notes? Maybe a bit too masculine for me. I would consider purchasing in future for certain occasions but definitely not an everyday scent.

feminine geranium, woody rose scent. Some may interpret it as a bit old lady-like and I can definitely see that perspective but it's not too mature in my opinion. There are other rose scents out there that are better but this one is nice especially if you love the rose and geranium combination.

Smeels very similar to Radical Rose. But Radical Rose sometimes leans more masculine to me. Moonlight Rose is happier and raspberry-fruitier. I prefer this one over Radical Rose. But the DNA is very much the same

This one feels to me like something between TF’s noir de noir and oud wood. Wonderful

Similar to Moonlight Patchouli. Both are better that Moonlight Patchouli Parfum.

Just a nice, elegant rose fragrance. Simple but done super well.
