Oud Blanc

This. Fragrance. Right. Here. I don’t think I’ve ever been an oud person. But this winter, my skin said YES. The start was a baby punch, not at all as loud as most ouds. And the fragrance seemed to sashay between notes as it dries down. It was such a lovely experience that I had to buy it. @Serene River below said everything that came to my mind when I tested this perfume in store and then on my skin overnight. Testing it on my skin overnight only solidified my awe of the perfume. Whenever I woke up or shifted positions I would catch a whiff of delicious, creamy, smoky vanilla and fruit. And the fruit is not obtrusive or adolescent - it’s like having charcuterie and when you make your cheese and meat cracker you add the slightest dab of fig preserve for a soft but present sweetness. I can’t believe I’m saying this but this fragrance could very well be a staple & signature for me! And I’ve been searching for years. I have no idea how it will perform in spring - I guess we will just have to find out if I don’t finish it before then 😂.

The first sniff was nothing special, the second sniff and I was hooked. Its powderyness and oudness are so nice, it's creamy like the santal blanc from Van Cleef & Aprels but this oud fragrance is leaning towards more masculine and has such a summer fresh scent to it. Truly a remarkable blend. I have tried some other white musk oud blends and this one stands out the best, very savoury.... a definite win 9/10, but I am not giving it a 10/10 because I feel it doesn’t change after a awhile, it stays the same but I half expected it to change into something better than it already is. Now looking at the ingredient list I notice the aldehydes that I thought I hated in fragrances but it simply smells amazing in this blend. And I smell the smokiness that comes from the incense. A beaut. Definitely for those who like something Vanille type but not overwhelmingly sweet fragrances, but more of a balanced creamy smoky ones. I guess the creaminess feel comes from the white musk, really works great in this blend.

Usually I’m not a fan of Oud, but the sweetness in this fragrance sold me. Heavy, sweet vanilla at first, and dries down to expose more smooth Oud and subtle rose. I sprayed more of this than I would have liked, and it is most definitely a fragrance for wintertime. The scent is simultaneously sharp and smooth, and surprisingly isn’t too overwhelming for me, as I’m usually not a fan of things that are too too sweet on my skin. The vanilla compliments the smokiness of the scent and they simultaneously bring each other out while also making it so that the smell isn’t too intense. Smells to me like you chucked Oud and vanilla pods into a saucepan with brown sugar and let them smoke the melted sugar. Overall pretty nice, but my only complaint is that it can irritate my nose a bit due to the aldehydes and sharper Oud.

I live in UAE, Abu Dhabi where everything is about oud, I'd say that my nose can catch the right real oud among so many "oud" used in perfumes, here, the oud is of high quality synthetic oud that is better than real but commercial oud . The rose is prominent and of a high quality , both oud and rose are tamed by soft musk and sweetened by non edible vanilla , honestly I couldn't pin point the incense but there is a tiny smokiness in it that might be the effect of incense , I really enjoy this unisex fragrance and most of this line of VC&A, chapeau bas Anne Flipo.

This is Oud Bouquet but brightened up by the aldehydes and much more wearable. I wouldn’t say this is a “clean oud” but it’s very palatable. It could be a day or night fragrance and it’s multi seasonal if you spray accordingly. With that said, it’s more wearable than Oud Bouquet but it’s still a pretty strong fragrance. It’s not really similar to Oud Satin Mood, that’s much more rosy, and less powdery. I have Oud Mood, Oud Bouquet and I reach for Oud Blanc the most. I’ve had it for a few years, love it and would repurchase it! The best from Van Cleef imo!

This is by no mean a replacement for oud bouquet but man the opening is soooooo similar which I love then it quickly becomes softer, soapier and smooth, this is not a beast perfume rather a well balanced elegant and sensual fragrance. I'd wear this during the day then top it up with oud bouquet for a night out. I love it!

Wow! I try not to wear this one too often, save it for special occasions. It’s truly a beautiful unisex fragrance. I didn’t think I was a fan of oud. But if this is oud than take all my money because it’s so sophisticated, I can’t get enough of it. Good projection and it lasts a long long time.

I sprayed this as a tester 6 hours ago and it’s still so gorgeous on my skin. I usually like fresh tea notes and this is completely the opposite—but I don’t mind at all. It is such a beautiful luxurious and sexy fragrance. I need a full bottle now!

My signature scent. Sweet, powdery, joyful, a tad feminine but who cares, it smells incredible. It's a great everyday smell, got tons of compliments wearing it. I associate this fragrance with the movie "Roméo+Juliette" by Baz Luhrmann.

Im not a fan of oud as it can come across heavy in a perfume so when I smelt this, I was pleasantly surprised. The sweet note uplifts the oud. You can definitely smell the amber in this perfume too. A very moody, sweet fragrance

Delicate wearable smoky Oud, turned rosy, turned sweet dates. Not particularly new concept but very well done and wonderful projection/lasting power. I'm enjoying it quite a lot in fall/winter!

This is one of my favorites from Van Cleef it’s a sweet fresh powdery oud scent with rose I absolutely love it. I will forever buy this. and have multiple back ups.

Love it! Great longevity too. It is practically identical to Oud Bouquet from Maison Lancome. I will probably buy the latter because of the great bottle.

I blind bought this today and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ingredients. They are what you would expect for the price point which is not always the case. The oud is apparent from the very beginning-very smooth and reassuringly persistent but not at all sharp or animalic, along with a wonderful smoke that is nothing to do with tobacco. Very soon, this is joined by a sweetness that I think is a combo of dates and vanilla, and this compliments the smokiness of the oud to create a meditative and tranquil mood. This is deepened by a lovely rose which is not too sweet or dusty. The aldehydes are present to create a feeling of air, adding to the light yet meditative mood, like being in a temple garden. The fragrance settles in this vibe and doesn’t change much, except towards the end it becomes warmer and sweeter after previously being quite introspective and cool. This is a lovely ending, as the smoke wanes and the delicate rose and musk bloom more. Overall, I feel very peaceful and centred when wearing this - safe for work or anywhere. Unisex. Sillage moderate, longevity moderate. This is a high quality perfume and quite unique take on oud I think.

Aldehydic oud from the opening, a fresh, like clean laundry scent with hints of oud teasing your nose. The best is yet to come when the perfume is working on your skin : the balsamic comes out to settle the aldehydic notes, as well as a hint of woody rose appears — I’m barely noticing the rose, so this perfume works perfectly as unisex. The incense present here is woody-balsamic, I can get a hint of vanilla beans in the back, It’s more like a dark vanilla. Sublime. Smells sophisticated and atypical. A clean and refreshing oud. I like this a lot, I don’t have anything like it nor have smelled anything alike. Very pleasant and sophisticated for cold/fresh days or of course, a romantic rendez-vous : he/she will remember your smell. I usually shy away from fragrances with aldehydes, but I was shopping in the Dubai Airport before a very late flight and wanted to buy a fragrance. I still call this one "Dubai Airport" when I reach for it and think that's a pretty straightforward description. It's a milky oud with all of my favorite notes, a Western take on Arab perfumery. The oud is synthetic but not harsh. I think it's beautiful, but have seen some of my more standard American colleagues not enjoy it so I tend to not wear it in the day anymore. Beast mode longevity, strong projection, easily unisex. I'm happy it's in my collection, but wouldn't have purchased it without that time and place context.

I bought this a few years back and I still wear it to this day its a beautiful fragrance. The rose compliments the oud its a original smell.. Very friendly oud and vanilla, smells like champagne and dates honestly. quite nice but very mature

I don't like the opening or mid but do enjoy the dry down. Unfortunately my skin amplifies the sweetness throughout and the rose remains more forward than expected. I find no animalic notes at any stage. The end game is a creamy vanilla woods with a rosey freshness. So, this is okay overall. Just not a fave as I'm not into rose. The bottle is SO nice though... This also lasts the longest of all I've tried from the line except Orchid Leather. Review of full bottle blind-buy. UPDATE Decluttering. It's just too loud of an opening. I feel uncomfortable for the first hour I wear it as it's too boldly sweet and floral rose. FINAL UPDATE I'm keeping it. It's the only true rose in my large collection of vanilla woods. One spray on chest, one on back, both under clothes, and can still smell it 10 hours later. I can't place it on wrists, neck, or anywhere skin is exposed as it's just too loud. It's a very strong, sweet fragrance but the woods give it a smooth base and the rose with aldehydes keep it fresh. Not safe for work in my opinion. I wear this strictly at home, I don't want attention.

I was excited to finally try this as I've nearly blind bought it once or twice. The fragrance presentation is a beautiful all white bottle and cap. I would have preferred a heavier cap but it's not light either and doesn't feel cheap. This opens as an airy white amber. This opening reminds me of Gucci Eyes Of The Tiger which I own and am very familiar with, but this has an alcohol blast and feels very synthetic. It also doesn't carry that perfect tonka that is in the Gucci. It stays a white amber until the oud shows up. The oud here is also synthetic (obviously at this price point) and smells synthetic and kinda weird. It's not barnyard or animalic, it's hard to describe, but I don't think it smells particularly good. Usually for me to consider a fragrance it needs to be interesting, unique, or just plain smell good. Ideally, I'll get all three of these in one fragrance. But this misses on all three and feels very average. Scent 5/10 Performance 6/10

It's a nuclear oud, rose, vanilla, incense kind of fragrance. In the air, it reminds me a lot of Franck Olivier's Oud Vanille and Dior's Oud Ispahan. It is creamy, sweet, and smokey. It smells like any other sweet oud-rose fragrances which I find intriguing. The scent is potentially offensive to others, but personally I don't mind it and I actually appreciate this scent DNA. Not versatile and not safe-to-wear. This will definitely offend some people's noses and potentially choke people out. Performance is superb. It's okay.

I would label myself as one that tend to shy away from oud fragrances. I don’t have the best relationship with rose notes, and I sometimes find vanilla/incence blends to smell like burnt plastic. All in all I would not say that I have the best prerequisites to review this. Nevertheless I got my sample and I love sharing my views, so let me try. The oud is actually better than anticipated, and the same goes for all the notes here, for this is well blended. The fragrance is pretty soapy at times, with a light incence twist, and at times it actually come across as slightly aldehydic. Might be that the musk gives that clean vibe when I try to pick it apart, and the soapy aspect is what does that for me. When I get to the vanilla it is actually on the verge at being a like for me, but when then incence come into play it turns into a cheaper scent and ends up with the familiar note of plastic-y candle. One that is burned down to bits. That also evokes that ‘church note’ as I call it. The feeling of being in a catholic church, the smell of the coin you have slipped down into a plastic container in order to feel justified for lighting a small candle in front of one of the ‘displays’. Some reviewers have compared this to ‘Oud Satin Mood’ by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and I do see what they mean. Even though ‘Oud Blanc’ of the lighter and more wearable ouds in my opinion (which I also think about ‘Oud Satin Mood’) this one smells like it is cheaper. This is not as strong nor powerful, so that is up to your own preferences. This one has also way less rose in it, which I personally am grateful for. I am still no big fan of either of the notes, but I am not hating it at all. I am truly believing other people will love and pull this one off, but that will not be me.

Very sugary sweet oud, somewhat synthetic. The rose is more prominent during the first 30 minutes, it then recedes into the background. The vanilla takes over while the aldehydes make this a bit soapy. Unfortunately, this combination of sweet sugary oud with aldehydes was somewhat screechy. It irritated my nose a little bit and the sweetness alone was starting to give me a headache so I had to scrub it off. This perfume is definitely not for me. You will like this if you like very sweet scents and don't mind a bit of an obvious synthetic aspect in your perfume.

A mix between Mancera Rose Vanille and Chanel Beige. Not a favourite of mine from this line. There is something very chemical on my skin, and while others have said it is aldehyde, I am not sure. Smells like Ambroxan to me. To make it palatable I layer it with Dedcool Milk to take the edge off.

Seen many times before, and just useless. But VC&A needed a sweet woody frag in their line-up, so... now the box is checked.

You are being punched in the face with Western synthetic oud and aldehydes which at first do not seem harmonious with one another and actually can smell quite unpleasantly sharp. I have cheapies from Lattafa and the like which have far less metallic and synthetic smelling ouds. As it dries down the sharpness goes away and the whole thing becomes a lot smoother. My favourite part of this scent is the ultra smooth creamy dry down which is really enjoyable. But even so, this smells kind of like a weaker version of Shaghaf Oud. Admittedly it’s more wearable because it’s not as sickly sweet, which is why I decluttered Shaghaf. But in terms of quality, not wearability, there’s no difference between the two...I can say this isn’t worth the retail price. I got this for less than half the RRP which is about right. I’m undecided on this one. It’s not bad, except briefly in the opening. But it’s nothing new either

I absolutely love this fragrance, it's rich, deep and elegant. I remember when I first smelled this, I wasn't blown away by it and I blind bought it as well. Truth be told I bought this in the summer, so it was a bit cloying in the heat when I got my hands on it. This is beautiful in the winter or cold autumn days, the vanilla pokes through but smells more like amber than vanilla - it lasts a long time on my skin and is a compliment getter. People can smell me from afar, and have had people ask me what I am wearing. When I decide to layer, I love layering with Dior's Ambre Nuit, and OMG do they compliment each other so well! fragrance - 8.5/10 longevity - 8.5/10 sillage - 9/10 projection - 9/10

The opening is very soapy clean, Oud is a bit sharp. But after a few minutes drying down, the rose is taking the role and oud is becoming to be the background, much softer. I own many bottles of Oud rose fragrance, Oud Satin mood, Oud silk mood extract, Golden rose Oudh, Red velvet Rose and Oud. The rose and oud combo smells a bit like Oud satin mood and Red velvet Rose & Oud, the Oud is lighter than Satin's and heavier than Red velvet's. It's a good quality rose and Oud perfume, but if you own any of those which I mentioned, it's not necessary to get this one.

Oud Blanc is sugary sweet oud with a huge dose of heavy sweetened milky musk accord. It was very familiar to me from start to finish, but it took me some time to remember where I had smelled this before, then it striked me: Musk Aoud from Roja Dove! It's not the same but it has very similar vibe and overall elements: huge, voluminous, heavy creamy musk, sugary oud, hint of rose lingering. PS. fragrantica page is missing the Date Accord top note.

I’ve never smelled this-thinking of blind buying a bottle as I love VC&A and it sounds beautiful. I’ve read people’s comparisons to Lancôme’s Oud Bouquet, which I’m also quite interested in. I had high hopes for this one but it’s not for me. I often find that Oud notes don’t work on my skin but I was told this one is often the exception. I love this brand though and even if it didn’t work for me I would recommend trying it. Skin chemistry is so unique to each person.

a slightly less potent atelier des ors rouge saray with a big bold but wearable oud opening (think oud ispahan style oud or maybe white oud...per the name). I actually prefer the drydown stage...but already own rouge saray...well done though...like you'd expect from this brand.

Sweet, familiar rose-oud combo with a hint of incense and strong aldehydes at the top. If you don’t like aldehydes, you may not like this. Personally, it may be headache inducing because of that. Though not a dupe per se, I would reach for Oud Satin Mood any day over this.

Smells like a million other sweet Oud vanilla/praline/Carmel frags. I’ve smelled this type way too many times. It’s not bad but not great either. Other brands do it much better and with better performance.

The pretty lady from Fenwick asked me what I thought about this and yup, it's an Oud Bouquet clone. You, reading this to see if you want it or not, trust me and just buy Shaghaf Oud, it's 98.75% there.

Deep, warm, musky, oud, rose. A rich auntie's perfume. Familiar and expensive. Leans mature.
