Versace Man

This jewel is the best Versace fragrance for me. Other gems like The Dreamer and Oud Noir also appeal to me but not as much as Versace Man. The nose behind this perfume is a lady - Domitille Michalon - very competent although a little unknown. Bear in mind that this fragrance was launched in 2003 pioneering a bit this type of scent. I consider it the softer older brother of Oud Noir. It is not an overly masculine fragrance. Quite the opposite. Its scent seems to be on the edge of permitting a unisex aroma classification. My opinions: - Scent - Near perfect oriental background with warm spices and tobacco as frontrunners. - Longevity - 8+ hours - Silage - 4~6 feet (intense projection in the first 3 hours, faint 1~2 feet till the 6th hour, and skin scent for the remaining time). - Where and When? - Spring, autumn, winter (day and night); Formal events, intimacy, at a night out, office, at leisure... you name it! - Age - from 30 till 120. - Compliments - From everybody who likes a good intense woody/spicy masculine scent. A bit ladies magnet :-) - Presentation and Quality - Nice quality sprayer and sturdy bottle but a bit tacky design. - Price/Value for money - I bought it in the price range of 20~25 Euros for 100ml. Great value for money. Now it's an E-Bay rarity so it really depends on your wallet and your desire to own it. - Main Notes According to me - It is a complex scent very well mastered that presents a moderate opening with pepper and flowers + strong closing with immense tobacco, amber and cashmere. In between, you sniff some very well defined notes of saffron and cardamom. - Emotions - dark, sexy, classy, elegant, a bit beasty, woody and spicy. - Exclusivity - It has a faint resemblance with Escada's Magnetism for Men, who is just some months younger. I would say it is pretty exclusive. The combo that I get in the dry down it's a peculiar one composed of an amber base with a pile of pipe tobacco, a wonderful cashmere woodsy scent and a hint of labdanum. The combination is a real head-turner. This fragrance is devoted to centring the feminine attention in elegant men between 30 and 60 years old, using a signature suit, white chambray shirt, silk tie and leather black derbies. George Cloney probably wore this perfume while shooting the Nespresso commercials. I just love this fragrance. IT could easily be worthy of a blind buy if you find a bargain on the web or in an obscure small perfumery. Music: Prince & The New Power Generation - "Sexy M. F."

When I think of class, I can think of luxury, of money and then maybe of decadence. No ... this is not the way. I'll start over. If class happens with seduction and elegance, I can also think of happiness and control. Yes ... I like this option more. So that makes me think of dances, slow dances of an embraced couple, in a seductive environment, with intoxicating aromas, in sumptuous dance halls (music by Sinatra or Aznavour please), undeniably in a great class environment. And I think whether or not I will fit well in that picture. Will I have class? What will cause the seductive environment? Is it the music? Our sure dancing and compass movements? My perfume? What will be the aroma around us? ... Yes it makes sense that the fragrance exerts a strong influence on the perception of class and in the seduction environment. In fact I have always heard that a good perfume and class or class and a good perfume are inseparable. Then what will my perfume be? Certainly it will be a rather masculine, somewhat citrusy and floral, with a semi sweet blend of spices, giving space to cardamom and aromatic resins, a bit woody, and evolving to a strong "noir" final base of dark amber and tobacco. With or without oud? I prefer to choose it later ... sometimes with oud and other times without oud. I think this perfume already exists and that I even received compliments while wearing it. I can only think of Versace Man. It's a shame that this fragrance has been discontinued, but that makes it even more special to me. I want it to remain unique, and I say "unique" because I can not think of another designer fragrance that smells similar to this. I mean, it's dark and rich, and it has a strong scent of moist tobacco leaves. I suppose it might be me wearing this perfume, confident and well-dressed, in a Mediterranean ballroom or club in Portofino, or Puerto Bañus, or Capri, or Estoril. Or perhaps at night on a ship going up the Nile and always with the beautiful woman I love beside me. Certainly class, maturity, and conviction, fit completely into this image. By the way, and if I chose the environment in a cruise boat up the Nile, I would add a touch of oud to the perfume, and I would be wearing Versace Oud Noir, a true flanker of the Versace Man.

Wow. Wasn't expecting it to be this good... For starters, the gold trim ain't gold - it's bronze. But that just makes it look even cooler... For everyone that said that this is an uber-masculine playboy scent, I will have to respectfully disagree. In fact, the opening reminds me more of a women's floral soap. Yeah. Elegant, sweet and floral. I'm certain it's the amber, because it has a rather strong presence in both the opening and the transition into the drydown. After the first few minutes, the spices come out - saffron and cardamom mostly, but there is a bit of pepper in there. They get pretty strong for about 3 minutes, and then settle into a more balanced role. That's when the sweetness really starts to shine and the light tobacco blends in masterfully. Maaaaaan, this is really good stuff. If you've ever smelled Oud Noir, it's pretty much the same opening, only stronger, no oud and with more sweetness. I don't get the "grape" or "purple" connotations AT ALL. If anything, it smells more of a deep bergundy, like the colour of saffron. However, don't let the spiciness up close fool you - although it can be a little overbearing in the mid, it's definitely NOT in the sillage. In fact, the scent trail is EXCEEDINGLY elegant, classy and sophisticated, and makes me think of expensive designer clothing. But I STILL feel that this is totally unisex, and would smell incredibly sexy on either a man or a woman. It almost has this upscale, middle eastern spicy quality about it that I just love. What an incredible buy! And yeah, I had to blind buy this because I couldn't test it; but despite my apprehension about its infamous "smoky" reputation, I was delighted to discover that it's far sweeter and more elegant than I had previously anticipated. Plus, the performance is well above average. It's really a shame that this one is before Jeremy Fragrance's time, because I could totally see his girls going gaga for this drydown. PS - if you're reading this Jeremy, think about it! Scent - 9.5/10 Longevity - 8.5/10 Projection - 8/10 Overall - 9/10 - So glad I finally pulled the trigger.

Addictive. An intoxicating ambery tobacco with saffron. Versace Man stars an elegant creamy tobacco note reminiscent of The Dreamer or Michael for Men, vaguely reminiscent of pipe tobacco or Bank rolling tobacco, rather than a herbaceous tobacco leaf à la Creed Tabarome. Saffron adds a spicy-floral warmth, cardamom adds a hint of spice, over a resinous woody amber. Not exactly sure what “cashmere wood” is. Cashmeran, maybe? So captivating It's almost mouth-wateringly gourmand, Versace Man evokes a dry salted caramel blond tobacco - like a flue-cured Virginia. Recently got a new batch from 2012 (Euroitalia 2331A) that at first wear after opening seemed weaker than Armani Attitude Extreme, but after letting it stand for a week and giving the flacon a really, really good shake it’s come to life. The tobacco in Versace Man elicits a fond childhood memory of my mum's best friend - a statuesque, glamorous lady who looked like Lauren Bacall, smoked a pipe, and always smelled fabulous. However, the tobacco in Versace Man is a continuation of the tobacco theme in The Dreamer. Supremely elegant, discreet and intoxicating, and very addictive. Update 20 November 2021: Versace Man seems to be one of those fragrances that require "steeping" (or, more accurately, being left in a dark cupboard for a while) when you open a new bottle. The difference between when I first opened this a couple of weeks ago and now is dramatic. Now the rich, slightly sweet, full-bodied tobacco has blossomed into life. Versace Man creates an aura of elegance and mystery - warm, seductive and beautiful. Longevity is deceptive - the dry down is still lovely the morning after a big night out.

Absolutely gorgeous! Smells like very soft and oldish air that has a mild tobacco scent with some spices (pepper and cardamom) that are probably softened with cashmere and saffron. How I smell this, it reminds me of antiquarian bookshops and old record stores (or may be the owners used to wear fragrance like this back then). They have this special scent that sometimes can also appear in basements with mold-issues. I don ́t know why, but I have always liked that scent a lot. Lately it has reminded me of the smell of new unwashed potatoes that have been kept in a closed bag in a cool place (cellar or fridge). That plus added sweetness. This fragrance is very very similar to Versace Oud Noir, which is perhaps somewhere between this and John Varvatos Oud, and my opinion is that you can choose between this and Oud Noir by the looks of the bottle (availability and price being factors as well). Personally, I like this bottle more. The design is very beautiful and I think the color is better than that of the Versace Eau Fraiche, which I sadly don ́t like. Best season for this fragrance is definitely fall. However, for really cold winter days there are better fragrances. I can still see this being very nice fragrance to use inside as it has some warmth in it. Performance is very good for the first 6 hours. I can easily detect it when moving my arms and by the 10th hour I can still clearly smell it from closer to skin. There is very slight style resemblance to the crispiness of D&G The One as well. But all in all, everytime I smell this fragrance I say to myself ́Wow, man this is gorgeous scent. ́

Unforgettable... seductive and unique. When I smell Versace Man , I think of class, I think of luxury, I think of gold and decadence and wealth and maturity. But with seduction and control. This makes me think of slow dancing, seduction under the moonlight. Just beautiful on a man in my opinion. So, it opens up with a deep, dark, fruity tobacco vibe, with stewed fruit and spices, giving way to cardamom and aromatic resins, then it moves onto a base of amber and tobacco. I mean, how good can this get? I've even received great compliments whilst wearing it! It's such a shame this has been discontinued, but then that makes it even more special to me. I want it to stay unique, and I say "unique" because I can't think of another designer fragrance which smells similar to this one. I mean, it's dark and rich, and has a real good tobacco leaf vibe. I imagine a Latin man wearing this, at a ballroom or cruise ship in the moonlight, a beautiful woman beside him. Really great stuff, and would make a great impression on a well dressed, confident person I think. I wouldn't expect this one to work so well on a very young man, but it depends on personality really. I think the man wearing this needs to know what he wants, and how to get it. He would need to have charm, and know how to use it. To me it's a "rich man's" fragrance because it has a vibe of decadence and luxury, coupled with seduction. It's a mature but sexy one with deep fruit, amber and tobacco. it's up to you whether you fit that description or not, but for me I love it. Really good stuff in my opinion!

"Liquid engineering" It was the year 2009, we left the port of Santo Domingo, capital of the DR, on an 8 days cruise on the Caribbean islands. It was an ordinary night in the ship, until at dinner time, when my cousin's Wife came, and ... Oh my God! What a fragrance that smells so rich, I only remember "this is Versace" told me, and nothing more. Well i stopped inquiring due it was very expensive for my pocket. Apart how fun we spent, I wished the dinner time just to smell and smell. I sat next to him, but I did not tell him why. 7 years later I acquired this masterpiece, and immediately remembered that cruise, bingo! that is the same fragrance that left me in shock those Caribbean nights. It is almost indescribable how beautiful this scent is, mysterious, seductive, catch compliments. It does not look like any scent I've ever felt before. It feels spicy and sparkly, like when you uncork a soda-flavored grape or berry drink. Pepper feels really good, very good indeed. Much saffron and beautiful tobacco, it feels very nice, superb! Recommended in cold weather. It does not have a beast proyection, but a nice fixation and longevity. A PERFUME CREATED FOR ROMANTICISM. I do not know how Versace thought of discontinuing this wonder, it is unforgivable. Try to get a couple of bottles as the price is still well accessible and enjoy unforgettable nights just like this server.

Back 2007 was when I first snifted this gem.... Love at first site! I can tell you this is smell of one period of my lifetime. My friend would steel it from his father and we would bait in it,go out wearing this fragrance. I was 17 back than and I knew this is for older mens with adittute,not for young teen like me,but I coudnt live without it. There was no another fragrance for me! Back than I bought one for me. And one more after spending a bottle. It sticks on to your clothes forever. Girl I had back than would take my jacket and just smell it. She was crazy for it! My car BMW e34 525i would smell like this! Than I took a long pause and year ago I reentered in this wonderfull world again. 12 years later I got my self a new bottle and all that memories hurled back at me when I smelled it!! This is the fragrance that got me in love with fragrance world. This is how the man should smell like. I have now a several fragrances in my collection but this one is special. I will always keep a bottle of this one with me. Longevity is great for price tag,for designer fragrance....up to 7 hours on skin with great projection first 2-3 hours. I will repeat....it stay on clothes forever. Even after washing. I am so sorry it is discontinued. I wonder why no niche house took this recepit for them self and revive it. This is a rich tobacco-wood blend, with substantial spicy-sweetness after the opening, but still not enough to deny the inevitable - this is a very mature, refined scent that is, more perhaps than any other scent in my selection, a distinctly winter-time fragrance. I've tried it in warmer weather, and even in the fall it strikes me as too smoky, too heady, but in the crisp dry air of winter this becomes exceptional. The effect is similar to Lalique Pour Homme (the lion), but to the Nth degree - I can still pull off LPH during the transitional seasons, but I don't dare with this one. This is a dark, velvety indulgence that couldn't be more perfectly accompanied than by a roaring fire, mulled wine and your loved ones curled up with you. My only disappointment is with the bottle - and not even the design, which I really like, but the plastic cap is a bummer - a hefty glass cap would have been very nice, perhaps with a bronzed foot to match the top rim of the bottle, concealing the magnetic lining that should click it into place - this scent deserves such a regal setting. As an aside, this has a strong Cashmeran note, which I am finding that I truly seem to enjoy in many scents I've recently taken a liking to - Bvlgari Man, EZ Peruvian Ambrette, Ferrari Amber Essence, the Encre Noires. I really like the smooth earthy tones it brings.

I have been wanting to put my nose on this one for what seems like an eternity. The only problem is that it is almost impossible for mortals to find Versace Man carried by their local department stores. Thankfully I had no such problem and wished a bottle into my divine hands. I was disappointed upon first sniff. However, I became increasing pleased when Versace Man moved past the heart and into the drydown. Overall, I found this one to be a very nice scent but it didn't quite live up to my expectations since my hopes were high. Still, it's a nice fragrance and I'm loving it more and more with each wearing. This fragrance lasts about 8-hours and projects moderately on my ethereal skin. Finally, after wearing Versace Man (not Eau Fraiche) during the day, I sprayed on Dior Sauvage during the evening hours since, like George Burns, I like to get out and mingle with my creations from time to time. Let me just say that the drydown of Versace Man (base) works extremely well when Dior Sauvage is applied over the top. Let me know what you think. Update: I've purposefully been wearing this one for the past couple weeks and I'm liking it more with each and every wearing. There's just something I really like in this this fragrance.

Versace Man Versace (2003) is among my top 3, all-time. In short, it represents mystery, virility, narcissism (not mental illness, but self-esteem), dignity, luxury, and velvet. I don't know why a fragrance this beautiful is being discontinued. As for Evoke Midnight Edition Ajmal, the similarity is 30% lasting less than 10 minutes. Evoke Midnight Edition Ajmal then takes on a spicy, warm, and strong flavor, then walks away from VM2003. Versace Man 2003 rests on/dries down on a luxurious woody base (close to the woodiness of Versace Man "Eau Fraiche"). What makes VM2003 very special is the heart notes and the base note: Heart: Saffron & Cardamom (usually saffron has a velvety, gloomy effect, but here the cardamom gives the saffron dynamism and vigor.) Base: Tobacco, Amber, Cashmere Wood, Labdanum (Taking into account that Labdanum gives off an amber scent, this enhances the ambery note in the perfume, and gives it depth) Don't be fooled by the fact that this fragrance is in eau de toilette concentration, because its silage and longevity are great, more than the usual perfume concentration. Please, Ladies & Gents, if you know good clones/dupes for this (besides Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir), let us know.

The second fragrance I ever bought was Versace Man Eau Fraiche, and I was browsing around looking to purchase a bottle just for nostalgia purposes and stumbled across the Original Versace Man. I looked into it and the notes seemed up my alley and i figured I better get a bottle now because its not super easy to find especially because of the search terms. I was able to snag a 1.7oz for around $90 which isnt cheap for an old discontinued fragrance but i wish I got the 100ML because I suspect the prices will go up even more. This stuff is awesome. The tobacco is the star of the show here but for me the black pepper / neroli combo of the top stays for the life of the fragrance keeping the tobacco from getting to dark. For me this is the perfect richness of tobacco. It never gets cigaretty (at least for me). I definitely think this accomplishes the very manly sexy fragrance without having to introduce anything animalic or synthetic. Performance for me wasnt the greatest but still extremely solid for a designer frag. Grab a bottle of this now before it really gets hard to find.

Such a shame this was overshadowed by Eau Fraiche. Had to blind buy this and I think I may have gotten the last non tester bottle on the internet it seems. The opening to this is magnificent. I get a little bit of the neroli on me, but the cardamom and saffron really shine through. It's such a great blend of lighter, darker, and warm notes that I can feel fresh and outgoing, seductive, or cozy by the fire all at the same time. Sillage is medium and by about hour 2 I get mostly the base and the saffron, with a not too sweet tobacco and a little of the amber. Shockingly I'm still able to smell this pretty decently on me after 15+ hours.. but it's a scent that isn't overwhelming to those around you. I've had someone who has been around me all day suddenly get whiffs of this 10 hours after application. It really is a wonderful formulation.. bottle is from 2012. I wish there was still enough of this around to make it an every day kind of wear but as it stands I'm going to have to ration it a bit.

This is proof that the perfumery in the early 2000s was just another dimension, I mean, we had M7, Gucci Pour Homme, Rive Gauche, the OG Dior Homme...and this gem is no exception. Beautiful, sexy, manly, with presence, that’s how I’d describe it; niche quality in todays standards for sure. Plus is a compliment magnet. Perfect for dates, dinner, night out, or just chilling at home while wearing a sweater. Versace Man has nothing to do with Eau Fraiche, it’s in a complete different world. I haven’t smelled Oud Noir and I can’t make the comparison but I can assure you it doesn’t smell like Escada Magnetism (I have both), I get the idea that they may smell similar, but let’s say they’re distant cousins, you get that “cherry/grape cola vibe” on both the difference is that EM is sweeter and more ambery and Versace Man is prominent in the tobacco, pepper and saffron. For uniqueness and performance I have to give it a 10/10.

Versace Man is an example of a fragrance where the scent matches the bottle. You get a nice tobacco that surfs on a wave of saffron and amber with spices in the background. This means you get a tobacco fragrance with very sweet notes also from the labdanum, that might lean a bit more unisex than some people prefer, but that are in no way feminin. If you already own Versace Oud Noir, you might find this to be to similar and redundant. Versace Man is best suited for cold Winter and Fall, but can also be used for cooler Spring days. It can be used as day scent and for the office, but go light on the sprayer. It easily last for a working day with 8-10 hours (even more if sprayed on clothes) and projection is decent too. It's supposedly discontinued, but readily available at discounters. Definitely a nice little gem at the price.

Great fragrance! This opens with a blast of neroli and bergamot and it develops in a very smooth tobacco, amber scent with some spices. It's not groundbreaking but it's beautiful! It has a masculine old-school vibe but it's not dated. I have a 2013 bottle. Performance is good but not great on my skin, 6-7 hours longevity with moderate to soft projection. It's a smooth scent that doesn't scream but gets some attention. It's more suited for the cold weather but it can be worn all year round except the very warm summer days. It's very versatile, day or night, date or office.. a beautiful masculine signature scent! Gets a lot of attention.. Overall, i am happy to have this fragrance in my collection. This is discontinued for a long time but you may can still find a bottle 🙂

Gosh, where do I start!? I have yet to smell a better tobacco than this, and I LOVE tobacco notes in colognes. Tobacco vanilles, tobacco ouds, herods, pure havanes, tobacco reserves are among the few I have, and this is way better to my nose. It's the way the saffron plays with the tobacco, and the sensational sweetness of cardamom that makes it alluring and addictive. Does have some Burberry London vibes, but with much more complexity and life. This leans masculine, formal or semi-formal settings on cooler days in my opinion. I could also imagine a pretty girl with a nice leather jacket and boots rocking this as well. Good stuff. I cherish mine and only use it when I am in the mood for some good tobacco. I wish could lash my wrist to my nose when I spray it there!

While the notes are completely different, this DOES indeed smell extremely similar to Versace Oud Noir. I have no idea how... but if you already have one, buying the other will likely be pointless. I now have both, and as similar as they are, they do have their differences... Mainly, for me, the saffron in Versace Man is a bit more floral and pronounced. Also, I think Versace Man is a bit more pleasant to the masses, while Versace Oud Noir is a bit more pungent. Don't get me wrong, actually, I prefer Versace Oud Noir! But more often than not, I layer Oud Noir with Polo Supreme Oud and other scents, whereas I've been wearing Versace Man by itself, even to the office. Versace Man is more versatile and you're less likely to encounter someone who doesn't like it.

versace man is a great fragrance, no question about it. it opens fresh but then the tobacco notes take the lead, but it's not all about tobacco. the smell after 40 min became smooth and sweet, not in a gourmandy way. it's a masculine scent but not edgy and rude, very gentle and classy. the tobacco note is not strong as, for example, in trussardi inside(another masterpiece). versace man is like wearing a cashmere scarf or a velvet jacket, smoking a good cigar. u can use in every season but summer, and fits better for mature men, 28-30 and up and not for playful occasions. performance is average. un altro capolavoro da versace! scent:8,5 sillage: 7,5 longevity:7 uniqueness: 8 bottle: 8 versatility:8 compliment factor-8 my vote: 8,5 in one word: cashmere

I'm a woman&I feel every man should own a bottle!!! This is smooth&sexy...casual yet also a night out,empress women by wearing this fragrance I bought this for my brother&everyone loves this of all ages from teens,20's,30's,40's,50's no joke...its my favorite along with another men's fragrance Yves saint Laurent l'homme intense EDP,also uomo valentino , so so so sexy!!!!! Versace this one to me,I smell faint lemon&smooth manly silk under the moonlight in a lake under the stars, with the man of my dreams he smells like this!!! If you want to impress a woman on a casual day you have to at least buy a sample before you diss this love it!!!The longevity is great on clothes&4-6 on skin from what he says&I love the bottle its awesome for sure!!!

Great scent for a woman! Ladies, check this one out. Beautiful woodsy and musky notes in the opening seem to suggest this MAY lean a little masculine, but when the saffron and amber take over, it's completely feminine. There's a fairly prominent artificial grape scent in there to match the purple theme. It's not what I would call linear either, different notes seem to come and go a bit. Longevity is maybe 6-8 hours. Projection is great. A great buy for the price. I highly recommend it. This reminded me so much of something my mom used to wear when I was a kid that I gave it to her. She really likes it. I like it too; quite a bit, just not on me. I'll grab the batch code next time I stop by her place.

Tobacco, Leather, Pepper and Citrus are my stand out favourite types of fragrance and probably also in that order too. I still have a bottle of Aramis Havana which as many will know is a very strong, bitter-green Tobacco Leaf fragrance with a warm, soapy dry down. Then there's Versace man. Wow! This is night and day different from Havana. Elegantly sweet, fresh rolled Tobacco smokiness with some pepper and Saffron aromatics in the dry down. Please, please, please, Versace, don't reformulate this juice nor (heaven forbid) discontinue it. This is an absolute gem for cold-Spring, Autumn and Winter - possibly could be a Summer evening scent at a push but day or night this is an absolute winner.

Tobacco is often paired with sweet, heavy notes or hard to detect due to over complexity in composition. Not so with Versace Man! The dry tobacco sits, easily detectable, atop a surprisingly transparent blend of saffron,pepper, and amber. Cashmeran, yes, it’s there too, giving that fuzzy synthetic woodiness you’ll detect if you’re familiar with it. It’s a gentle yet persistent scent, not uber-masculine, to be fair, but extremely pleasant. The tobacco leaf note comes into focus if you spray clothes and wait for the drydown. VM is a tobacco scent you can wear in warmer weather given its transparent construction. One of Versace’s best releases for men.

One of the best perfumes ever created. for me this smells like spicy, boozy tobacco. it gives me cigar club vibes. extremely sexy, masculine and addictive. I was mesmerized when I first smelled this on friend in 2005 and started using it ever since. so disappointed that a masterpiece like this is no longer in production. Some local stores here in the middle east still have a few pieces left selling for crazy prices (over $200) luckily, I was able to find one new in box for around $170 and immediately pulled the trigger. still worth every penny. By the way, it smells nothing like Oud Noir or Magnetism as suggested by some people.

I didn't think this was anything special when I tried it myself, however, it has gotten me compliments while wearing it. A girl who rarely compliments my fragrance complimented me twice in one night wearing this. It does something in the air that seems to be appealing.. I just thought it was a decent, basic, peppery masculine scent. I liked it, but it wasn't anything special to me.. Was nothing that caught my interest or something I would want to buy, but now I might actually want to get a bottle just from the feedback I have gotten wearing it. I loved versace oud noir and I had a bottle which I gave to my uncle bcz of its poor projection and longevity on my skin. Many people on fragrantica think that this smells similar to Oud noir which I think is completely nonsense. I was hoping it to smell like oud noir but this one turned out to be very different and very unique, in a positive way. I love it and I m happy that I bought it. For people who want to get it bcz they think it smells like oud noir, I would say be careful and dont trust all these trolls on fragrantica. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10

I had this in my early 20's from memory so probably 20-22 years ago now. From what I can remember, it was a soft, gentle, sweet fragrance, quite unique smelling though, not at all loud, definitely one that I would've sprayed many times on each wear to try and ramp up the performance. What I would give to smell it again as it was back then to see what memories it would evoque. I also remember the animal skin leather effect on the box which lifted off at the top if I recall correctly. I wouldn't even ask to own it again, just a quick sniff as a reminder would do me fine!

Finally got a hold of this! I did not even care about this in 2007 - Man Eau Fraiche is the hype then. This is a concoction with strong presence of tobacco and saffron, which I came to appreciate in the later days of my fragrance journey. Cardamom as well has good presence on my skin at least. I wore it few times, and it seems that this really changes depending on the mood/day/skin conditions. One day, this will be heavy with spicies, and the other I smell citrus presence more. Amazing longevity and projection. Luxurious. VPH Oud Noir does not smell like this imo.

I believe this is a discontinued fragrance, and what a shame! It is one of old EDT that performs better than alot of designer EDP. The opening is a bit harsh with earthy/spicy black pepper, but doesn't last more than 10 minutes to move to a well-blended cashmere, tobacco and later on som woody non-offensive oud. The overall experience is creamy with subtle spicy facets, smells really elegant and refined. The smell: 10/10 Performance: 7/10 Price: 10/10 (I had it on 20, December, 2020 for around 35 US $ from a local gray market retailer)

I am so dumb. I had no idea Versace man and eau fraiche were different fragrances. When I figured it out, I knew I had to get the original. To be clear - this is about 80% Versace oud noire. With that said, I still think it’s fantastic. It’s a warm, spicy scent. Tobacco? Where? Regardless - it’s a really nice scent - I just wish it were a bit more different from oud noire (although oud noire is very good!). If you don’t have oud noire, I’d highly recommend this. If you do, I’d temper your expectations a bit. 7/10

What a beautiful masculine fragrance. The scent reminds me of my younger days when I used to visit motels and it always blast me with the smell old cigars and cigarettes as soon as I walked in. I find this fragrance to be very sweet too and it gives me the same sensation of been in a club and having that mix of a sweet fragrance with the cigarettes smoke from the people around you and I find that to be kind of sensual. This is scent that I rather smell than wear but can't wait to wear this on a cooler weather.

Versace Man is the hidden gem in the Versace line. Pour Homme and Eau Fraiche are the big sellers, but this one is my favorite. The opening is all about grapefruit and saffron. The grapefruit quickly takes a backseat to tobacco, and after 10-15 minutes the amber becomes present, and the scent doesn't evolve much after that. Man is quite simple, but works very well. It's quite Italian in style - very laid back and sensual. Longevity is very good as well, a solid 7-8 hours. Works year round for me. Rating: 9/10.

Beautiful and modern. In fact, timeless. The first discernible accord is amber, similar to the one in Dolce & Gabbana's The One (that is purely the only similarity between the two). Then, the tobacco and saffron notes linger behind the ethereal cashmere accord to create a smoky, hazy atmosphere. This is easily my favorite of the Versace men's fragrances, with The Dreamer being a close second. The tobacco of Versace Man is completely different from The Dreamer, which is much more fresh and clean.

This is a lovely fragrance. It’s a fresh and light take on tobacco with minimal (perfect amount) of sweetness. In our current diabetic state of fragrances this fresh and spices take on a tobacco is very welcomed. This fragrance is a conundrum. It is both a fresh and spiced fragrance and at the same time a smooth and deep amber. Almost as if you can smell two separate layers at the same time. One moment it’s fresh and breeze then the next wif you get is smooth, sweet, and cozy.

I kept reading that this fragrance is discontinued. I need to stock up quickly if that's the case. I found it on Amazon for a pretty good price too. I guess I'm giving out the secret. I have to get a second or third bottle before its all gone. It is one of my favorites. I instantly knew it was a favorite after the first smell of it on my skin. It was a blind buy and I definitely made a wise decision. The tobacco is what really takes it over the top. Longevity is outstanding.

Versace Man opens with spicy vibe of Neroli, Black Pepper and Bergamot then started to be more soft with cardamon & Saffron the dry down is smoky Tobacco with sweet touch of Amber + some Woody notes one of best discontinued fragrance and i don't know why Versace discontinued it ... very unique , dark and rich scent yummy Tobacco with Versace DNA longevity : 6 hours projection & sillage : good for 2 hours for sexy mature man ... go for it if you still can find it

A great tobacco fragrance in the dry down, the opening is very dusty & spicy, I get a lot of saffron and angelica, but it settles down to a dry tobacco with some amber. It's classy, a would suit any man over 25. Best for the evening and winter / fall. I have a recent formulation bottle, and performance isn't too bad. It doesn't project like crazy, but will last on my skin 8h+. Girlfriend likes it so that's one I'd recommend.

This is Darkness..... Its rough Tobacco backed by a root-like Earthiness from a note of Angelica. Darkened by Black Pepper, & Leathery nuances provided by Saffron. Subtly spiced with Cardamom, & all resting on a base of Amber & Labdanum. Versace Man smells like a sophisticated Vampire who stepped outside to smoke a Marlboro in the Fall air. I'm sooooooo disappointed in the House of Versace for discontinuing this fragrance.

A sexy manly masterpiece. I love the smokiness while still maintaining to be fresh. A fresh oud like scent. it does have similarities to the Oud noir release years later but has a completely different dry down. 10/10. Not only because of the very special scent, but the bottle and box make it a complete beauty in my opinion. Purple juice suits this bottle as its aquatic but has a smokiness that makes it perfectly masculine.

It's a shame it's discontinued, but if you need a replacement, Versace Oud Noir will do in a pinch! Great juice, a good place to start experimenting with oud fragrances as it's very tame in this and Oud Noir, and will perhaps have you digging deeper into the oud frags. I know that's what it did for me. Great juice! Wearable any time in my opinion except perhaps high-heat situations. Love it, love it, love it!

How come all the masterpieces get discontinued? It’s terrible that you can’t buy this for 40$ anymore! This is a timeless scent that smells like you smoked a pack of cigarettes! In a very good way. The saffron and tobacco are blended so well in this fragrance. While versace noir oud does have that faint smell of this fragrance it still is nothing like this beauty. 10/10

One of my favorites! It is peppery but not like MJ Band for me. I get mostly tobacco (and pretty good tobacco too) and saffron. Its a little sweet but not overly so at all. It has a little bit of a western oud note to it as well. Not to be confused with true oud at all Good performance and you can still find it for around $30USD. Great perfume for $30!

This is a niche fragrance. Give that one a full wearing before you judge, just like any old Versace fragrance, you have to be patient! The key note here is the saffron, which is responsible imo for blending all the other notes well together. Just Wow! A definite 10/10 Super unique Won't be my last bottle and it's on it's way to hit my top 5 fragrances.

Beautiful composition. Reminds me of an exciting evening in Vegas. It is classy, but playful. Well-behaved, but temperamental. This is for the dapper guy that still like living on edge. Tobacco with a fantastically dry, spicy saffron note and a touch of amber to sweeten the edges. Great stuff, particularly shines in the evening as others have said.

Versace Man has not been discontinued. I just bought 2 bottles at Burlington for $34.99 each. It does not project as my old bottle from 2008, but the scent is the same. Perfect masculine green leaf tobacco with spices and flowers. Very masculine and sensual. Versace has never failed on providing unique scents for a designer realm.

Versace Man is in the same ballpark as Amouage Journey Man. I can put them in the spicy/peppery tobacco category. Amouage is much deeper and more complex, but the pleasure factor is for Versace. Far away from the modern taste , might be even considered niche these days. I rarely use it nowadays but it`s great for cigar night.

I'm down to the last bottle of this and sad, I'm gonna have to overpay to get more, as it's discontinued. Why Versace, why??? Oud Noir is similar, but not the same. If you have been lucky enough to have this scent, then you know it is a unique, classy one. I wish it would come back or even as a clone by someone.

This reminds me a lot of PDM Herod. The tobacco note is quite high quality and creamy (comparable to herod). The whole fragrance is blended quite well and is very smooth with some sweet and spicy nuances to it. Real shame its discontinued but I implore you all to try Herod, in my opinion, it's very similar.
