Silhouette

#1519 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Any of you older gents remember Alfred Dunhill "Blend 30?" This scent really reminds me of those days, and some really fabulous women I had in my life back then that I did not appreciate as I should have. The Dunhill brand seems very up in the air right now with a sale of the brand on again and off again, but if Inter Parfums wanted a sure thing they'd bring that one back as an EDP. God what a great scent. eBay scalpers have it for sale for anywhere from $350 for the after shave tonic version to $1220 for the EDT. This Vertus is by no means a dupe of Blend 30, but it's in the same ballpark. Roja has "Parfum de la Nuit No 3." Dua has "Extoic Holy Grail 3" that's a mix of that Roja and Jacques Fath "L'Iris de Fath." This Vertus, like those scents, is a very classic 70's style masculine scent that I can find no fault with whatever. I think that touch of violet really sets it off and the incense gives it staying power! Car pool, elevator and small office safe. Good date wear. Solid quality. Pricey. So get a decant to try first. Got mine from Scentsplit. I'm definitely in for full bottle of this gem!

When I first applied Silhouette, it struck me as very sweet and floral. I didn't get much of any citrus note. As it started to dry, the sweetness and florals pulled back. Surprisingly, I detected a scent that I can only describe as a newly printed magazine - something I only noticed before in Ganymede. It then turned some more and came to the final dry down transition. Didn't take long - maybe about 10 minutes. The best I can describe the endpoint scent is a lighter and fresher Bel Ami. So, Bel Ami is round and thick while Silhouette is sharp, thin and airy. That's not to say it's weak. It's quite strong and has very good performance. Also, Silhouette is masculine in the same way Bel Ami is. I don't think it's redundant to own both. Don't mean to imply that it smells exactly like Bel Ami. It has some part of the Bel Ami DNA, but Silhouette stands on its own. If you like Bel Ami, you would probably like Silhouette. If you don't like Bel Ami, you MAY like Silhouette because it is different. In all cases, test first! TL;DR - Awesome scent with a Bel Ami vibe and super performance.

I'll admit I did not like this off the test strip the first time I smelled it so it was a bad first impression, but as vets we know never judge a fragrance just based on first impressions and not off of test strips. I have a decant and I figured why let it go to waste and what I found is that as time went on I started to enjoy this fragrance more and more. It's leathery, dark, incensey and semi earthy. It reminds me a little of mancera's Sand Aoud and Saharian wind as far as the incense note is concerned, especially the opening. It dries down into a nice leather, rough around the edges leather that gives off man vibes. To me this is a kind of fragrance I would expect Amouge to do. There's some sweetness in the opening mostly and it has a smoke note (not overdone) that lasts through the life of the fragrance and which compliments the leather and patchouli. Solid frag, but definitely sample first (and give it time).

This reminds me of every 80's powerhouse fragrance. Hello big smell, and acrid. It really reminds me of chanel one gentlemen. Smells nothing like belami. Big sour citrus and a light sweet way , way down deep. Almost none. Def. not a blind buy.

Not at all what I thought it was going to be from the note breakdown .. I always like to try new brands and fragrances but this one was just not it I don’t even know how to describe it but I’d just say from this I’m only getting a dirty/filthy & screechy patchouli note and it’s not enjoyable at all to my nose so now I have a nice 100ml paper weight lol I’d give it a 3/10.. it could be worse but this is at the top of my list for things I’d never wear, but who knows maybe maceration will make it better but for now it’s a super L

Sole Patchouli has been getting all the rave but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Instead, I thought I'd gamble on this one. Accidental Eureka!! This opens with a moonlit neroli note that's fortified by a faint combination of citruses which gives off the initial perfumey vibe. You will have to brainwash or should I say, nosewash your nose into believing that there's a strong presence of smoke in the making of this half hearted floriental. As expected, the aldehydes sits in the foreground as it curtains the citruses for a sparkly impact. Most of the notes here displays its most radiant side(including the leather) leaving the patchouli note as the only ingredient with a palpable vertebrae. The composition has a great deal of weight given its mostly vivacious profile and pronounced jasmine. Silhouettes fastball is the neroli note. It's the most important ingredient and the only one that I deem to propagate genderless and genreless vibes. This is like a futuristic version of Boucheron Jaipur minus all that cinnamon.

Variation of "Reckless" by Roja Dove... I remember when i first sniffed "Reckless" long ago (maybe 2015), i really (despite loving the idea behind it) enjoyed it according to its story, and that tingly bitter sweet spicy note that makes the cinnamon take another detour! It gave it something bitter sour yet sweet & i believe it was because of the bay leave, ginger, and sour oakmoss mixed with the styrax. Now "Silhouette" is taking that same detour and it's another variation of "Reckless" but more citrus, more neroli, and extra note of aldehyde. There are an obvious none written notes of ginger, bergamot, styrax, oakmoss, orange blossoms, and cinnamon. Pretty can't deny but still, the sample is enough.

Leather, patchouli, violet, and neroli are what I smell the most. Surprisingly green and unisex; even the florals pull more herbal than feminine. Could the citrus include petitgrain or bergamot? It reminds me a little of Alkemia Madame X crossed with Guerlain Eau de Cologne du Coq, without smelling entirely like either one.

Made my chest hair grow chest hair. Then that chest hair also grew chest hair. I'm not mad about it tho!
