Bombshell Beach

Love this perfume! Definitely has the Bombshell DNA but the summer spin makes this fragrance warm and cozy. I detect the grapefruit and lily of the valley but no currant. There is something warm, fuzzy and sweet like a nectarine or apricot note. When I wear this I get images of sitting in a lounge chair under a cabana striped umbrella with a big floppy hat and sunglasses sipping a nectarine flavored margarita. It is warm, fuzzy and refreshing. Per usual only lasts a few hours, but at SAS price point I can live with that especially when you consider the longevity of pricey fragrances such as Jo Malone. Silage seems decent but not a room filler. I have VS Bombshell Paradise and it is similar but not really identical, prefer beach to paradise.

I love this fragrance but it's identical to Bombshell Paradise and Bombshell Summer (check the notes--all three are grapefruit + black currant + lily-of-the-valley). Other reviewers have noted that it doesn't smell particularly "beachy" and that makes sense when you realize it's just one of their other scents repackaged. Why Victoria's Secret insists on putting out the same exact fragrance under different names is a mystery to me, but whatever--it's a good scent, even if the longevity and projection aren't.

Behold! Grapefruit! And lilies. But mostly grapefruit! Honestly, I’m not sure why they named this “beach,” because I don’t get anything that reminds me of the beach. Just grapefruit. Which is nice, I like grapefruit, but for a “beach” scent I expect some aquatic notes, or coconuts, or tropical fruit like pineapples. Grapefruit, while delicious, just doesn’t scream “beach vacation.” Despite that, this is a reasonably priced, lower-end-of-average performance scent. Silage is intimate, unless you go absolutely ham with spraying it you won’t be detectable to anybody who’s not pretty much right on top of you, and for me, it lasts about two and a half hours without re-spraying it. Victoria’s Secret has recently been doing very good perfume deals, so I was able to get the large size bottle for $30, making it fairly reasonable if you get it on promotion. A perfectly serviceable scent, and a safe blind buy as long as you like grapefruit.

Bombshell Beach is the same as last year's Bombshell Paradise, which is the same as the Bombshell Summer of 2-3 years ago. Not sure why Victoria's Secret keeps changing the name and the packaging of this perfume. I quite liked the vibrant neon pinks and orange of years past, which is reflective of the vibrant, juicy grapefruit found in this scent. What they should be tweaking is it's longevity. Like it's predecessors, Bombshell Beach is lovely scent that vanishes after a couple hours of wear. You'll smell it on your clothes for days but it vanishes on skin, even when layered with lotion and mist. Something about that juicy grapefruit keeps me coming back to Beach/Paradise/Summer, but I'd recommend getting it on sale or during SAS for a better price point.

*Note: I am reviewing the body spray, the perfume may be different* This smells like a fruitier version of the original Bombshell. I'm not a huge fan of the original, but I don't mind this as much. I have NO clue why they named it "Beach". It does feel like a carefree and whimsical scent, but nothing about it reminds me of the beach. There's no tropical fruit, no coconut, no vanilla, no solar notes, no salt, etc. I would have maybe named this Bombshell Fresh or something. That being said, I still like it. The body spray does a decent job. Obviously not as long lasting as a perfume would be, but it lasts pretty well on the clothes, at least. If you want a lighter, fresher version of the original, this would probably be a good bet.
