Salty Flower

I LOVE Salty Flower, it's basically my signature scent. It's unfortunately discontinued, but I loved it enough to track down 2 full size bottles and a bunch of samples so that I'll never be without it! It can be a little chemically, like a chlorine cleaner at first spritz. And I agree with powdery and sunblocky. However, after a few minutes this perfume basically turns into a luxurious beach resort commercial. I am instantly transported to a fancy hotel room on the water with fresh linens, the curtains blowing out the french doors that lead to the beach. The tiniest bit of salt off the ocean landing on your skin. It's not a "tropical" beach. There's no fruity coconuts or anything. It's a really fresh beach with seaweed, green grass growing up from the sand dunes... White linens, straw hats etc... I love this PARTICULARLY for hot & humid weather because it blends right in (or camouflages?) my own salty / sweaty body odor when I'm overheated. But it does eventually dry down into a creamy musk that could work for cooler weather too :) Salty Flower Forever!

Hey all, Bath and Body Works just released a new scent called "Coastal Dreaming" that is identical to VRSF. VRSF was one of my first "big girl" perfumes. I even drove to Canada to get a backup bottle when it became discontinued in the U.S. so of course I understand how special this scent is. I work at BBW and when i smelled Coastal Dreaming, i knew it was the same. I brought in my VRSF and compared them side by side. It is spot on! Accoring to BBW, there are only like 5 major 'scent manufactuerers' that produce all the perfumes for all the designers. BBW works with 3 of them. So it's very possible that BBW can access the exact same formulas and accords that Viktor & Rolf have used. (Like how BBW duped 'Flowerbomb' in their luxury collection.) Give it a try, it's lovely! Almost perfect 100% match, and a fraction of the price.

Review is for my own future reference - I LOVE the smell of this perfume. It reminds me of being a kid at Rickett's Lane/Ball Park Beach!! <3 It smells like you just got out of the water and you are cuddled up in your towel smelling your warm skin that has a mix of salty water and sunscreen, but in the best way possible. Thinking of boys on the beach :) I almost bought a full bottle on sale, but it sold out fast. It's overpriced, but I love it! You can really smell the saltiness. It smells so much like a memory to me. It could be unisex for sure. Smelling this again tonight.. OMG it's so friggin good, so damn yummy! Slightly masculine but def fem enough to wear. reminds me of being young on the beach wanting to snuggle up with a hottie. Why does this have to be so expensive and discontinued!? :(

My heart is broken. After finishing the prized 2mL sample I had gotten from Sephora (almost a decade ago now, wow), I finally found a relatively affordable (still extortionately high) bottle from a reseller. Some possibilities: that bottle I bought is fake, my nose has changed, or the bottle has gone off. In any case, Salty Flower, which I used to fantasize about as the ideal fragrance, now smells almost dusty to me. The white flower in my bottle has a strangely antique, almost grandmotherly quality that reminds me of Kenzo World Power. I wish I could go back to how this smelled to me a few years ago--which was sexy yet fresh, and creamy without being a gourmand.

I adore this fragrance and so does my husband. I found it only after it was discontinued. I also bought 2 samples sizes and 2 full size bottles, on Ebay, etc. so hopefully I never run out. It's the smell I have always been looking for. In the Hawaiian language there is a word and a name too, Moani, meaning "wind blown fragrance" and that is what this perfume reminds me of....refreshing trade winds blowing the fragrance of plumeria, tuberose and pikake over the water as you rest by the beach. I put it on and feel like a tropical goddess or a mermaid! It's funny how some people smell powder as I detest powdery fragrances.

I got a tiny sample from Sephora ages ago and loved it but it was so expensive. Now it’s discontinued and expensive on eBay. 😭 It doesn’t smell very beachy to me personally. When I get dressed up I like 1940’s/50’s style and I love this to go with. I notice mainly salty floral but in a classy sexy way. Like how I WISH Chanel smelled. It lasts forever on me so maybe someday I’ll splurge on a bottle. Also, to my nose, replica beach walk smells very similar to this however, it is an EDT, so it doesn’t have quite the richness and lasting power of salty flower.

I was introduced to salty fragrances by Wood sage and sea salt (WS&SS) from Jo Malone and I fell in love with the salt accord. This one does not disappoint and smells like.. well salty (sweet almost creamy) flowers. Tropical island, warm sands, salty sea breeze, flowers in your hair and around your neck. While WS&SS is fresh and light, Salty Flower is softer, creamier, sweeter (I could have sworn there was vanilla in it), with a surprising depth from ambroxan. It is quite lovely and definitely one that will go on holiday with me.

I do like the salt fragrances. Reveal and Olympéa Aqua Légère are favourites of mine. So this fits right in. Reveal is salty-fresh, Olympea is salty-sweet and this is salty-floral. Very unique and quite addictive. You get that little bit of tartness with the citrus but the florals really are the centerpiece. It does give a sense of tropical beach and vacation vibes. It feels a little Mugler in its jasmine. Really stunning.

Just got a bottle today, and I’m in love! If you’re a lover of tuberose, and salt this is a must have. It’s the perfect spring summer beach scent. Dry down is giving suntan lotion in the most beautiful way! Heard it doesn’t have much staying power, but worth it even for only 4-5 hours!! Back up bottle worthy!

Love this perfume so much!! It’s a spring/summer beachy scent with floral vibes!! Think tropical sea salt mixed with orange blossom and jasmin notes. Longevity is medium and sillage is light medium in my opinion. I need a full sized bottle!!

I adore this fragrance- beauty, salty, fresh, citrus. I get lots of compliments on this. Very nice in hot weather or any time you want to be uplifted out of winter. Love, love, love

I love this scent: sea salt, sun tan lotion and flowers. Absolutely lovely, really well balanced. Really fun, light easy to wear. Weekend and summer vibes. Nothing to dislike here.

This is wonderful stuff! A elegant salty, white floral fragrance. Truly unique, and a fragrance that could easily find it's way into someone's collection.

Ooh, I love this - it's just the ultimate salty beach scent. It's a lot like Replica Beach Walk, but even saltier. Just beautiful, vacation in a bottle.

VictoriaSmells is right...that coastal dreaming is the closest thing i’ve smelled to salty flower. a little sweeter but very similar

This is a "perfumey" perfume, if you get what I'm saying. It's a well-composed scent, rather than an agglomeration of notes. For a floral, the flowers are not in your face. It actually has a more gourmand feel, but... it's not. I think it must be the salt and frangipani that give me that feel. I think it is well-executed as a scent that doesn't give a single "note" great weight, but has a general "feel" - there's that word again. If you want to force notes out of me, fine: I get a salty, ocean on my skin after laying out (but NOT a sunscreen/coconut) dry down. I can't say its a stunner, but maybe a sleeper fragrance. Something that forms beautifully over hours. It is well-composed, unified, cohesive. Honestly, it surprised me that I like it based on the note descriptions. This is more of a "going out for the evening" scent to me - a bit sexy, kind of comforting, and probably too much for most offices. Although there is a touch of freshness to it and perhaps on the right skin, someone could pull it off in the office after dry down.

Beach lingerie. The sea salt projects at arm’s length from the skin, and the frangipani a handspan, which makes for an interesting personal experience. The ambroxan base augments the ocean notes brilliantly. Lasts all day on the skin and until the tide turns on clothes.

Lovely salty beach vibe. Does have that tanning smell but not coconut. I really like it, don’t love it. Ends up being more of a skin scent on me after 4-5 hours. If the performance was better I would probably purchase.

If you like summer fragrances with a sunscreen vibe - this is a great one . The sillage is and lasting power are so impressive !!! Similar to beach walk by replica. This lasted all day well into the next morning.

Salty Flower is sexy and aptly named. Too bad the longevity is abysmal. This could have been a real winner.

Something happened to me when I smelled this fragrance. As soon as I smelled it I had to stop myself from going online and immediately buying it. You guys, this is so smooth and warm and creamy. It’s one of the best beach fragrances I’ve ever encountered better than Beach Walk, Bronze Goddess, way better than Olympia, less strong than Isley Miyake’s Pure. It’s the frangipani and salty warm gentle musk. It smells a lot like the suntan lotion they used to make that smelled like warm skin, a hint of creaminess like skin cream, a little hint of salt (not a lot). It’s personality is relaxed, calm, and like a snuggled up cat lying in the sun. The only problem is projection and longevity. These are the two things that stopped me from buying it. I’ve become much more selective about buying a fragrance that is going to last and this one is a sad 3 hours max. ☹️ Update: Actually now that I’ve worn this for a few hours I’m not liking the dry down. It’s extremely synthetic like Downy fabric softener and very weak. It’s not natural at all. This was a roller coaster from Omg! I love it! To, “Ugh, yuck, nope.” I’ll stick with mu Pure Issey Miyacke or Wood Sage & SS for my beach go to’s.

I really wish my bottle smelled like my testers, like the other reviewers. My testers were delicious. Light frangipani with the salt brought forward, a less sweet and drier version of Annick Goutal's Songes. I held off due to the price, saw it was 50% off at Sephora and BAM I pounced! And then...I received the bottle, I loved the bottle. I sprayed liberally from the bottle. Oh dear mother of Hades what have I done?? My bottle didn't smell like my lovely testers, nay. It smelled like...toilet water. And I don't mean eau de toilette. I mean it smelled like finally stopping at a gas station on a long road trip because you have to pee so bad you can't stand it, and the restrooms are outside, and when you open the door you take a tentative sniff to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into, and then consider going into the woods and squatting. The kind of toilet that ladies will hover over, knowing there isn't enough papering of the seat to ever feel clean again if you sit down. That kind of toilet water. I can only assume I received a bad bottle but it was so awful I won't risk it again.

I tested this from one of those samples you rub your wrist on (I got a collection of these in the mail from Sephora). So far, this is my least favorite of all that I've sampled from those cards - I like this *less* than Mémoire d'une Odeur, and I didn't like that one, either! But at least MdO had a hint of almond to keep things interesting. This is just powdery musk. It opened with a cloud of talcum powder in my face (my absolute least favorite perfume effect), and now the powder is switching over to musk that's going to start giving me a headache if I'm not careful. I'm only getting the barest hint of salt. This is an extremely hard pass.

I don't know why I bothered testing this. Marine notes are some of my least favorite. And this is not different. I get a super salty note that translates to swear in my mind. Just a blast of salty , sweaty bergamot. Of course I had sprayed it on my neck. After it settles it's salty white florals and sweat. And it lasts .. and lasts . And last. So did I like it no. Did I learn not to spray unknown perfumes directly to my skin? Also no. Clearly I need help 🤣

My immediate impression is that it smells like sunscreen (which I don't like). Once it dries down I get some florals (mainly tuberose). But something smells really synthetic in here. I normally love scents with sea salt, but not this one. It has sooo much chemical sunscreen going on. Truly awful, and I'm going to wash it off now.

This is like if you want a tropical scent without it being a... tropical scent. You know what I'm talking about- the super citrusy, coconut-y, floral tropical perfumes that got you smelling like a pina colada mixed with the ocean and a plumeria garden. I have nothing against those fragrances- in fact I love them, but this one is not like that. There's a saltiness, obviously, but also a light, floral femininity. It's impossible to make out any specific notes- it's more of a blended vibe that you get instead of being able to pick out a distinct scent. It's subtle, lightly floral, salty, and not sweet. There is a hint of tuberose I'm getting and I usually don't like tuberose but blended like this I'm loving it. Upon spraying it I got a nostalgic kick, as for whatever reason it reminds me of the lobby of a hotel I stayed at at some point. A really lovely scent worth testing.

I wore a sample of Salty Flower today and the ladies at the drugstore nearly climbed the counter to get a better whiff. I do not detect any orange blossom as listed or vanilla as suggested in the comments. On me, it's a musky, salty scent with creamy and very slightly floral undertone. I like it a lot. It's more elegant than the other beachy scents on the market. I do not like Flower Bomb at all but do like this. I don't see the similarities someone mentioned in a previous comment. If this were a $70-80 scent, I'd be all over it but at the current $140 price tag.

Very pretty sweet tropical aquatic scent. Definitely has a sunscreen vibe to it and leans more feminine. Projection is soft and turns into a skin scent after a few hours. Nice fresh summer alternative to the heavily citrusy scents. This has a creaminess to it and shares some quality that I can’t quite describe but that all the V&R perfumes seem to share. It’s an underlying sweetness that smells almost like a vanilla buttercream. This reminds me of Aerin hibiscus palm, without the slightly green smell that Hibiscus palm has. Nice but not FB worthy for the price.

It sounds really lovely, but for me it just smells like Flowerbomb. Flowerbomb smells fine, but if I wanted a bottle of it I have a hundred ways of getting it! Love the name, love the concept, but for me it ends up smelling musky and sweet. Much like Flowerbomb. Honestly I can't tell a difference between the two. They are identical to my nose. I'd love to smell some salty tuberose, but it is just musky and sweet to my nose. If you like Flowerbomb, I think you'd like this too! If you do not like Flowerbomb, I wouldn't waste your time.

To my nose, it starts as uncomfortably sweet in a clingy way. Then salt note tamps down the sweetness a bit and there are a few minutes when it's almost a crunchy with salt. It does have a sunscreen/beachy vibe which is pleasant. The dry down is mostly Ambroxan with some sweet floral. Ambroxan is a tough note for me, but many people love it. If Ambroxan and salt work for you then this might be your Summer scent.

Starts off with orange blossom + some freshness from the lime. I'm not sure I really get the salt until later. Great sillage and projection. Middle (20 min - 2 hours) is continued excellent sillage and projection, frangipani + tuberose + orange blossom. To me it smells like coconut and tiare flower with a splash of cream and salt. At the 4-5 hour mark it's a very soft skin scent: salt and coconut to my nose.

To me it smells like Olympea. I am not a big fan of the fragrance but I don't personally think it's a bad one. I won't purchase it for that price since it's so similar to the Paco Rabbane. I sprayed it on my wrist about 1 hour ago and I can tell that it's going to last for a while which is a miracle to me since the other V&R fragrances just vanish in an hour on my skin. Not bad but not memorable.

I too got a Sephora sample with my purchase of Dancing Roses. This reminds me of a more polite Tom Ford Orchid Soleil. Buttery tuberose with beach salt added. It's well composed and interesting enough on it's own. I like this "Magic" like from V & R a lot! Even though the price is too uppity. I'd buy a used or partial bottle of this in a second !

This line from V&R was just about the best thing they ever created and now all discontinued. I remember about 15 years ago I had a gift card from my old job and chose Dancing Roses over this ( discontinued Dancing Roses is one of the best Rose perfumes I ever owned!). Salty Flower was a unique creation .... never smelled anything like it. Sad.

It would be a good scent for you if you enjoy sweet, vanilla/cashmere-ish type scents. Too sweet and vanilla-ey for me but I have a friend who loves it! (I detect no orange blossom, no floral or citrus...)

I have had this in my Macy's bag for days and now it's sold out there and on the V&R site. I'm looking to buy a bottle if anyone has one they no longer want!

Love this delightful sunny scent for the summer. Viktor and Rolf's best in their Magic Collection. If you like unique, it is well worth the spend.

Smells like jasmine with a teeny tiny bit of salt. A typical white floral. Pretty, but not special.
