Fleur Burlesque

I am wearing "don't mess with me" perfumes to work at the moment, which means they need to be strong and mature. Fragrances with sandalwood, oud and civet are my choice of notes when in my "don't mess with me" mood. When I first wore Fleur Burlesque in early summer, sandalwood and jasmine were the strongest notes; equally balanced with the jasmine, sandalwood played - almost - as a light oud. I don't remember even noticing amber. I loved it. Testing FB this cool January evening, it is unrecognisable to me as the perfume I last wore in summer. Gardenia is singing, too high and sweet, backed by jasmine. Sandalwood is playing a vague supporting role, WAY in the background (and I still can't smell amber - not in the way I like, anyway). I barely even like FB this evening. This really shows the difference temperature can make to my enjoyment of a perfume. Fleur Burlesque is going back into the cupboard until spring and I'm going with Pour une Femme de Caron instead.

This is gorgeous. It's understated and effortless, with realistic florals and a warm base. The gardenia and jasmine are so well blended that they smell like one note, and the amber really punches through and is almost honey-like. I only wish the sandalwood came through on me more...I love sandalwood. It reminds me of my grandmother in a good way. She would've been a teen in the late 20s and early 30s, and was a very fashionable lady who loved her perfumes, fascinator hats, kid gloves, and shoe collection. I know he was going for Moulin Rouge 1880s-1890s chic, but I think this is a harken back to all things vintage--well made, long-lasting, pure, and timeless. There's something kind of magical about this. It makes me want to put my hair up in pin curls, lounge around my apartment in a robe, and smoke a rolled cigarette through a window while drinking black coffee and writing that book I've been meaning to finish. 10/10

After a long and expensive quest to find a signature scent replacement for First by VC&A that I have been wearing since I discovered it in my late teens when it first came out, and can no longer appreciate because of multiple reformulations that have spoiled it, I have now found my new signature sent. FB is a heavenly, feminine scent and ironically, I dislike most scents with sandalwood. I obtained a small 1 ml sample, drenched myself in it and promptly purchased 100 ml. Its really cold now where I live and I find it just so alluring, exquisite and sublime. When your find your special scent you just know because it creates a magical bubble all around you! Can’t wait to test it out in spring/summer. I’m sure its a year round beauty. Mr Epinette you now have a place in my heart next to my favorite master perfumer of all times : Mr Jean Claude Ellena.

What an honor, to write the first review about such a beautiful fragrance!! Aah, this is beautiful indeed. It smells like what I expected Carnal Flower to be, but it wasn't. This smells like beautiful white flowers on a warm spring day. With just one spray on my neck it lasted 9 hours, and it kept getting more beautiful as time went by... It mellowed extremely nicely, contrary to many many perfumes which start smelling off after 3 hours on my skin. This perfume managed to comfort me through a difficult 9 hours, I must add! The only downside is the price, as it is well over 100 pounds for the 100ml bottle. I tested this in London at Liberty and they told me it was exclusive, although I do not remember any more details. I recommend this 100% if you have access to it and can afford it. Hopefully someday this beauty will be mine! <3

Looking at the notes, this fragrance doesn't sound like my cuppa tea. However, notes alone can be very deceiving and the composition of a fragrance can smell completely different to what one would imagine. This fragrance is vibrant, vivacious but not obnoxious, and expensive smelling. There is an elegance to it, perhaps even a little flirtiness. It is an easy reach and although perfect for the warmer months, still shines during the middle of winter. Fleur Burlesque could be worn to work, for a night out, or for a special occasion, it's very versatile. Longevity is pretty good as I could still faintly smell it the next morning, maybe 22 hours after applying it. It projected decently for about the first 8 hours and leaves a nice trail. If you like scents that are quite feminine and have personality, I recommend giving this a try.

This is a very nice gardenia fragrance and I bet my Gran would have loved it as an alternative to Chanel Gardenia. I dont know who likened it to no 1 white floral sceecher Micheal Kors but they are very much mistaken. You do get lots of gardenia then some jasmine. Amber provides some much needed warmth and prevents it becoming too screechy for me. The lovely sandalwood becomes very evident after half an hour. I dont get a lot of sweetness but amber does provide a little I guess. There is no escaping the fact that this is a big white floral number so be prepared. I have to agree that it is a touch animalic. Good sillage and longevity. A lovely fragrance for night wear and a touch formal to. I might go fb if it is in the sales as it is pretty pricey.

Sunny, smooth, clean white floral scent that envelops its wearer. To me Fleur Burlesque (fantastic name) is neither screechy or old-fashioned, and I can imagine this being wonderful year round, but especially in warmer weather. FB is lactonic and has a certain sheer quality. Not sure I will shell out the money for a bottle of Fleur Burlesque (that stuff's expensive!), but I am sure I will greatly enjoy finishing my sample. Lasting power is outstanding. 28/03: Fleur Burleseque has snuck up on me as I've gotten more into white florals over the past months and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. A small travel size is on its way and I cannot wait to make good use of it this summer

This perfume is most best when left for ten minutes and the dry down! The perfume is classic but with a modern edge, it represents feminity in the most classy way. This is a night perfume and a winter perfume, warm and floral with a musky feeling too it, a "Warm jumper vibe" and also a "evening dress vibe" I feel "completed" when spraying this perfume and it just consistently pumps out musky floral vibes! It definitely is something that I will be wearing over the holidays and during the fall! It's a white floral lovers perfume! just no the expensive side, but you most certainly get what you pay for!

I love this! Such a beautiful feminine fragrance. Perfect if you love white florals but don’t like ones that are too powdery / “old lady”. Smells like swirls of creamy gardenias, like you’ve just walked through a garden and the petals have brushed over you. It’s fairly linear with just a bit of the woods coming through in the dry down, but I don’t really see that as a bad thing. Longevity and sillage are STRONG - which justifies the price, I think.

Hairspray sharpness that reminds me of what my mom wouldve worn as her signature scent in the 80s (she wore Giorgio Beverly Hills). Someone else had a hair salon memory in the reviews too (I wonder what product line that must've been); They said they would wear this to a funeral, and I agree that it would work for a formal event of the like, or even just for a night out with an all black outfit, eliciting the burlesque it's named for.

This is beautiful. It’s not a buy for me because it is so similar to gucci gorgeous Jasmine, which I have already and nothing beats that vintage style turquoise bottle from gucci. Otherwise I might switch to this and replace but I’ll find another Vilhelm to buy! Edit: NOPE, when I put on my skin it’s too green and sharp and dry for me to wear. Not as close to Gucci Gorgeous Jasmine as I thought when first tested.

I need a full bottle of this! This is the best gardenia fragrance I’ve tried so far. Unlike most white florals which are considered “old” or “mature” (personally I don’t see this as a negative feature of white florals) this one is fresh and bright. It opens with some wood and it develops a bit soapy, but it’s just so much gardenia, in the best way. Amazing

This is gorgeous! Jasmine and Gardenia are the stars here. This is a sexy fragrance that will leave you wanting to smell it more. I looked very hard to find a bottle. It seems to be sold out everywhere. I hope it is not discontinued, as it does not smell like any other white florals to me.

I was surprised how much I love this scent. This became my favorite Vilhelm Parfumerie. It reminds me of walking through a garden on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It lasts so long and is such a light, but strong, scent.

Now this is the one from the brand that I love. I am a big fan of white florals so when I tried this one I fell in love. It smells like classic white floral scent. Love Love Love!! Will be buying full bottle soon.

Exact copy of Iris Tuberose by Guerlain... maybe a little bit more sophisticated version of Anais Anais by Cacharel.. lovely!!

Fleur Burlesque is a nice perfume, but I don't find the gardenia note in it the most natural smelling to me. I can smell the sweet and white floral nuances of gardenia, but none of that glorious mushroomy and ruberry latex smell that gardenia has or any of its green nuances. I also feel like I get more jasmine in this than gardenia, but not of the most natural kind. The sandalwood and amber were a bit too strong in this and may have taken away from the white floral notes a little bit and caused them not to shine as much. I would have preferred it if they were both base notes and toned down and also maybe if some green notes were added to the opening to make the gardenia note smell more naturalistic. There is something very Donatella Versace about this fragrance and sort of loud and boisterous, as well as sort of tacky but in a good way. I could imagine Dontatella wearing this to a runway show of hers wearing a black bondage dress by none other than Versace, of course! So in saying that, I'll be contrarian and say that I can imagine this being a night time fragrance for big galas, parties and what not and the notes working very well in both the spring and the fall, when the notes in this won't be as magnified by the heat permeating through your skin. I got 9 and a half hours wear on my skin and it projected about 6 feet from me, meaning that this had quite strong sillage. I'd give Fleur Burlesque a 7/10 in total. It is nice, but I wouldn't spring to buy a bottle for myself.

I bought this in Sydney, Australia because the shopgirl mentioned how this was one of her favorite scents that she always got compliments on when she wore it. It's inspired by the Roaring 20s, which I can see. I wanted a lighter floral/daytime perfume, as I naturally gravitate to heavier fragrances. While I do use this perfume regularly, it's a little... Not cloying, but I feel like it sits on my skin and doesn't transform or mellow in a way that would make it softer and transferable. It smells out of the bottle the same on my skin, even after a few hours, but it's like the bottom notes never rise up ahead of the top ones. This is not a perfume I casually wear if I'm running errands, it's more if I know I'm doing something important during the day. Additionally, the price is a little high. It was around $150 USD in Australia for the 100 mL bottle at the time. I don't exactly think that the price and experience are justified, but I'm happy to have the scent in my collection anyway.

Fleur Burlesque reminds me of both a boutique hair salon and the LDS churches I grew up attending (no longer though lol). Its oily in the way an expensive conditioner is and is doused with white floral juiciness. Very simplistic and linear. I imagine my devoutly, scarily, mormon aunt would adore this. It would fit her, her platinum hair touched up so frequently I do not believe her roots have seen the light of day in three decades, her twenty step skin care routine, and all white interior decorating. It smells clean and sweet. But sort of unnervingly so. Like no one in the home is allowed to have a personality outside of gardenias, dieting, and scriptures. The room this paints is wall to wall beige family portraits and paintings of white jesus floating on cotton candy clouds, wreathes with exclusively plastic florals, and thick spotless white carpet. Oddly nostalgic. I would wear this to a funeral.

I really love this. It throws a little differently than if you put your nose to your wrist but both smells are like the reviews below describe. You must love white florals but this is a bit musky, a bit sunny and warm. The scent I pick out most is of Jasmine, but this is not an indolic type of Jasmine, even if it can be heady. There is a bit of sweetness due to the gardenia but I don’t find it to be watery or aquatic, sometimes gardenia gives me that impression but this is not that. I personally like that there is no citrus in this, though there are other white floral scents where I think the citrus is enhancing to the overall scent. This one is definitely an enchanting feminine scent. I also really love the name, and the “black amber” seems to be a signature of the house that I haven’t smelled elsewhere to my knowledge, making it unique as well.

This is very pretty. The Gardenia and Jasmine are very apparent, the sandalwood serves to warm them up and helps them smell like you are smelling actual flowers. This perfume is sweet from the flowers, but has the tiniest bit of bitterness to it, too,that I can only really tell when I put my nose right upon it. I do think this facet helps it to smell more natural, as well . Fleur Burlesque is not super strong, but it’s not delicate, either. I got about 3 hours of wear, I do wish it was longer, but I have this problem with a lot of Vilhelm perfumes for some reason. Overall, a solid, very pretty lightly woodsy and warm white floral perfume that I definitely recommend.

Wore this today after I woke up craving it, high of 20F outside and about 65F indoors, and it was a very different experience than the spring and summer weather that I normally wear it in. It was a good thing! The amber base came through more than usual, and it actually lasted me longer also. It was mostly a skin scent but the application to my neck continued to give me pleasant wafts past the 12h mark. Very pleased and happy to have the bottle!

This is a very heady and feminine white floral. Sweet jasmine and gardenia. As it dries down the sandalwood and amber give it some creamy, resinous and woodsy nuances in the background. On my skin, it stays a strong white floral throughout its longevity. It's such a beautiful scent. I don't have any white floral fragrance that smells like it. And I have quite a few as I love white florals.

This is such a rich beautiful sweet fragrance and really does last and last. One spray is enough all day. Smells exactly as expensive as it is! BTW I also bought a sample of what some have claimed as similar - NO. Nothing like it! Pls see my review. My initial impression - Fleur Burlesque is a sensual, deep, heady white floral. Very beautiful in a 1980’s kind of way. In the store it reminded me of the classic Giorgio by Giorgio Beverley Hills. I love Giorgio so no surprise I enjoy this. Very nice.

This has an old school scent to it, it feels fresh like you just laid your head on a fresh pillow at your grandmas house specifically. It’s pretty, but ultimately nothing special.

HOT AF! I cant justify purchasing it because I already have florals of the sort, but if I was to ever become a shopaholic - this is first on my list.

Woooaaahhh...........Fleur Burlesque... One spray and my entire house smelled as if the most enormous bouquet of Gardenia/Jasmine/White Flowers had exploded e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e...and now, I have to clean a huge mess! This is very evocative of Island blooms somewhere in the Pacific, it takes me to a tropical beach in the evening where all the flowers are in full bloom. It smells overwhelmingly like white florals and there’s nowhere to get away from it... It’s not that I dislike it. I kinda like it but...it is such a BIG scent. Obnoxiously huge white flowers (smell wise), enormous projection and as for sillage, let’s just say that if I played hide-and-seek, I’d be the first one found because anyone would be able to follow their nose to my hiding place... There is no escaping this one. Sadly, I have to say that it wears me rather than me wearing it...I am definitely not a boss babe 😝😝😝 Longevity is eternal. It’s here to stay and no amount of scrubbing, showering or scraping will do. It’s on...forever...😩 Oh well... I am developing a headache from it. Not a full blown migraine but you know, it’s still a little painful and unwelcome... It’s Winter here and since I live in an area where Winters are very cold, perhaps I am wearing this at the wrong time of year? I’ll wait to try this again in the Summer and see where this goes. This is not blind buy safe, even for gardenia/Jasmine/white flowers lovers. I’d get a sample first because, this is a B O M B...💥🌬

I got a sample of this in the mail today, unfortunately it leaked all over the package. However, when opening the package, my mom could smell it from 10 feet away. This perfume definitely isn't weak, and I can still smell it on my hands after washing/scrubbing. I don't care for the smell, it's very floral and a little sharp. I don't get much sandalwood and hardly if any amber, but it might also be because I haven't been able to properly spray it on my arms or anything. I saw someone compare this to a public restroom, and yeah, I kind of agree. Jasmine tends to smell like urine to me though but take that as you will.

Very clean and soapy florals. It is pretty, light, and airy for the most part; but I feel like there is a synthetic character to it, which sometimes veers into harshness if I sniff too close to the skin. Or, on other occasions I try it, it veers into baby-wipe scent. The overall effect is surfacey in a way, lacking depth or richness or fullness.

A very sweet , non-green, thick white floral. Love Tuberose's little, more pleasant and joyful sister.

At first spray. I hated it. I thought NO, this is the headache type. Smelled so old fashioned. Then I thought I'll give it a chance, because then I got a scent that is really nothing like anything I know. I'm still struggling. It smells old fashioned but still unfamiliar. I still don't know whether I like it or I hate it. It is very "woman". I'm not sure I can pull this off. Like in reviews below, it is a very strong woman too. "Don't mess with me" is well put, but it is also a "worship me" kind of perfume. Both at the same time. Very confusing. It is for mature strong woman who also knows how to be playful. One thing I can tell you is: one spray is enough. It is very strong. Edit: it's a keep. I am not crazy about the scent but I'm in love with how it makes me feel. Empowered. Wow first time I have such experience. Another Edit: I let it go... after wearing it time again, Couldn't bear the vintage-like animalic vibe in this. A bit headache inducing.

cloth: floral, but complex and sophistated (somehow I got a rose note out of gardenia and jasmine) perfumy getting a soapy / deodorant note skin: floral / ambery / oriental -- smells exactly like I would imagine the burlesque dancer at a Sin City Witches party would smell (except that she actually smells like stage lights) perfumy but in a good way excellent floriental, not getting the off soapiness on skin that I got on cloth, it's much better on skin, keeper.

Just retested this. 2 things changed since my first review: 1. It's now May, not November, and the weather is warm. 2. I have become sensitive to modern superambers. I liked this before but it's a scrubber now. The superamber chemical smell is unmistakable and I will never like any fragrance that smells like that. Amber was my absolute favorite note and modern superambers ruined it.

Ordered a sample cause being a white floral lover, I thought I would like this but I don’t . I own Narcotic V and Donna Margherita. This perfume and my mentioned bottles all have sharp amber notes and I can’t get past the spiciness . I have let those bottles go so I won’t be using up my sample . I prefer my white florals gentle and creamy . No for me .

After a long conversation with the sales assistant about white flower perfumes, and plenty of testing on cards, I excitedly decided that Fleur Burlesque would be the one I'd trial out all over me. Alas on myself it did not go as well as expected, manifesting as a nothing special sharp white flower with un unpleasant bitter green undertone.

I usually enjoy white florals when they are done well, even though I hardly wear them But this is just not that for me Smells extremely dated and dry? One thing I will say is that this projects and lasts like crazy, tried scrubbing it off three times and the scent was still there.

horribly boring. 90s boring floral! it ain't smell like gardenia nor jasmine! it's literally obnoxious tuberose. Nah.

Phew! This one is quite the powerhouse. It is very floral and the amber anchors it quite well. A little smokey in the opening for me, and I get some soapiness. It’s pretty linear on me once it settles, which it does quickly. The sandalwood is a bit much for me, unfortunately. The ingredients in this is so strong it makes my throat itch and cough. This is what I see a strong independent woman wearing, very assertive bordering on aggressive when needed. For some reason the memory it slightly invoked is my second grade classroom.

OK, just got this but have to review to help others since I wanted to know this.. * Initial spray- very perfumey and on the cheaper side and very grown up * As its settles in the first 5 min- a little more quality coming through but still dont get anything natural or lactonic * 30 mins later.. super screechy, I think its a big NO for me, but will give a little longer.

When you smell a flower, you don't only smells the fragrance of the leaves or of the petals. You smell the nectar, the almost itching feeling in your nose. This perfume is how a field of flowers and bees would feel like. A calssic but cheeky floaral fragrance. The sillage is incredible and longevity as well.

Full blown floral. But not overwhelming. It's actually really nice. Very natural to the flowers. Nothing artificial. You really smell the quality here. I'm still on the top notes. It's drying down and becoming subtly sweet. Still floral, and really feminine. Loving this so far.

It has a beautiful name, and it truly smells like it. Natural, sophisticated white florals, like effortless beauty from a dream home. I don’t like calling things rich girl scents because it sounds cheap, but not many floral fragrances smell more like money. It’s pure art.

You are sitting outside and it’s the end of the afternoon. You have a book by your side and suddenly you smell the white flowers in the garden. You are wearing your usual body cream and all the scents come at you very fast. It’s sometimes a bit much but you love it.

It is one of the most luxurious smelling rich, deep, elegant white flower perfum. I consider it the best suit for a powerful woman who wants to make a statement yet in a very sophisticated way. I love wearing it for formal occasions where I want to feel at the top.

Got a sample of this beautiful fragrance. It's bold at first spray, but when it starts settling into your skin it's just a gorgeous, intoxicating fragrance that keeps me smelling my wrists all day long. Long lasting too. Definitely FB worthy!
