Great Lord

Got this at Parfums de France in Tyson’s Corner. It smells rich and sophisticated. The plum and deep notes really come out on my husband while the mandarin and sweet notes with a fresh and clean scent on my skin. It smells almost intoxicating! Love it 😍

This is beautiful! It smells just like Crystal Saffron by Matiere Premiere! Having both would be redundant (I have both lol)

A masterpiece. Extremely well balanced, sober and sophisticated. Animalic, Fruity, Warm Spicy and Sweet.

Its pleasant but quite simple scent for its price. Similar to Ganymede at the openning with plum hint. Its flat, from the beggining to the end, only notes disappear one by one with time, no development... at the end there is only sugar sweetness. On me it lasts for 6-7 hours.

Smells like Japanese plum wine (umeshū) and leather. It’s masculine in a comforting way. Very well blended. I can appreciate the artistry of this fragrance but as a woman in my 20s it doesn’t really feel like “me”.

This pulls BR540 adjacent on my skin, though it lays flatter, woodier, heavier, darker, and less fruity. It's quite leather-forward, and that along with the musk and amber really eat up any other notes that could balance them out. It feels like it's missing a third dimension to pop it up into life. I wish I got more of a fruity, wet plum to brighten it up a bit. I think this is one of Vilhelm's better offerings, but it's not singing to me and I think you can find things in the BR540 dupe vicinity that will do what this is trying to do better. 4.5/10.

I guess "Great Lord" is another name of Burger King cause this smells like a fast food restaurant or a food court to me. I tested this on paper last week and added a note here that read: "I get some weird kind of "food court" resemblance after 10-15 min on paper, like fatty noodles (Lo Mein)?" I forgot about that since I've been testing a lot of samples recently so I wasn't influenced (not consciously at least) too much going into the on skin test. ...Yup, I still get some weird soggy breaded chicken and french fries. My nose just doesn't get along with whatever is in here, chances are you'll experience this very differently.

This was a real disappointment for me. From the notes I was expecting a classic fruity leather chypre, and indeed the contours of that genre are generally sketched out, but they are filled in with bitter, mineral, granular synthetics with a scratchy chlorine overtone. I understand the Ganymede comparisons, but whereas Ganymede feels nervy in its brazen artificiality, Great Lord feels like a half measure.

This is just Chimilka with a larger emphasis on the warm spice instead of the fruit... The plum also smells a bit like those scented pens you got as a kid. Not really impressed with this one :( The sillage is also underwhelming for the hefty price.

the opening is nice it feels strangely familiar, pleasant kind of mass appealing, but the dry down was really unpleasant when the fruits disappeared and was left with leather oakmoss patchouli

I tried to convince myself this didn’t smell exactly like Ganymede, that it was just in the same family. Like Bois Imperial which is similar yet different enough to have both. I bought a bottle and sprayed it on one arm and Ganymede on the other. They smell the exact same. When I asked everyone in my house to tell me if they smelled any different, everyone said no, they are the same.

It's very close to Ganymede for sure, especially on first spray in the air, but there's definitely a juicy plum note in here. If smelling it off skin it's the most prominent note that I pick up on. It's like Ganymede if you stuck a plum in it. Interesting if small twist on an already great frag and points for the absolutely beautiful bottle.

una versione elegante di Ganymede, la parte fenolica è meno preponderante. Non è originale forse, ma è ben strutturato. Un profumo che uso per le grande occasioni, durata elevata sillage elevata anche se l'assuefazione è alta. E' quasi quindi un profumo da indossare per gli altri.

Very dissapointing to realise that Ganymade is not unique anymore. They smell exactly the same!
