Classic Myrrh

My bottle of Classic Myrrh this afternoon and I'm wearing it now, for just a short while, so this my preliminary review until after I've spent more time with this fine fragrance. I'll update my review accordingly... I'm a huge vetiver fan and have been wanting a bottle of Classic Vetiver from Von Euserdorff for the past 3-4 years but just haven't gotten around to it. Recently, I found Classic Myrrh for great price--and I have become a huge incense/myrrh fan over the past few years--so ordered a bottle slight and smell unseen and unsmelled. I my initial impression is a very strong like. My favorite myrrh fragrances are Montale Kabul Aoud, Armani Myrrhe Imperiale, Comme des Garcons Avignon and Tom Ford Sahara Noir, which tend to be a more loud and proud and heavy on the myrrh and incense. On the designer side Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum, Dior Fahrenheit Absolute, Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense are some of my favorites. My primary though when purchasing Classic Myrrh is that would be a more reserved, toned-down, fragrance that is well-suited for the a more formal office or social environment. My impression was correct in that it comes across as being just that...a refined myrrh fragrances that won't necessary stand-out, but there will be a reminded appreciation for this scent. Update: performance was pretty good in that it lasted around 7-hours and projected moderately within a personal scent bubble - perfect for this type of fragrance. Personally, I feel this fragrance feel like it more suitable for a well-dressed man, but it can easily be rocked by the right woman. Overall, a strong like and I'll update my review as I wear it for the upcoming Fall season.

Myrrh is my favorite incense note! So wearable with out the church incense vibe while still retaining the artistic factor. I really love when it gets sweetend up like myrrh imperiale by Armani which still remains the no 1 myrrh scent of all time, this is more dry with smoky woody undertones. Very nice price, longevity and projection. Great quality too, and for this I rate the fragrance overall at 8.5/10

This is less of a myrrh fragrance and more of a woody fragrance. It does not have that soft cola vibe. Mainly it is patchouli, cedar, and the other woods with a swirl of burnt wood incense like a palo santo.

This is frankincense at max. It's frankincense with hints of myrrh. It is typically like the frankincense gum of Arabia quite pure with high quality. Beautiful.

I'm a myrrh lover, and the longer Classic Myrrh is on my skin, the more I enjoy it. In the first 20-30 minutes, I get a fairly strong cedar note along with creamy, sweet guiaic wood. In the heart, I notice both types of myrrh: common myrrh, which is earthy, woody and slightly bitter, and sweet myrrh (opoponax), which is balmy, moist, sweet and kind of herbal (sometimes gives a root beer quality to perfumes). While I notice the dryness (meaning the opposite of sweet), I also notice elements that make this fragrance, on the whole, a bit sweeter than I like. I really love the total lack of anything sweet in Tauer's Incense Extreme and was hoping Classic Myrrh would be equally dry. With a name like "classic myrrh" I guess I was assuming that it would be all about classic myrrh, which is the common, dry one. Still, I find this a very enjoyable myrrh fragrance and a great one for people who are learning about the scent of the note and how to distinguish both within the same composition. If I'm at all correct, and the perfumer was blending the two varieties, he did a very nice job. While I'm not going to rush out and buy a bottle, I can imagine myself regretting that if this were discontinued. Edit: I was shocked how quickly this evaporated from my skin. It lasted 2-3 hours. I sampled from a vial. In my experience, when you spray from a bottle, you get more longevity, and I truly believe this would be the case with this one. Just my opinion.

Honesty and no frills seem to be the key words to read Von Eusersdorff's creations and Classic Myrrh completely fits this bill. More about cedar and incense, than exactly myrrh, CM has a strong deja-vu vibe but feels, somewhat, more reassuring than boring. Smells more like antiques than churchy and in this context, it speaks of childhood memories, of grandma's personal drawers and the first days of autumn when everything is rust colored. There's a nice violet-incense accord that made me think about a gentler version of Maria Candida Gentile's Exultat. Dry, sort of austere yet somewhat warm and comfortable. Intensely woody yet not as harsh and screechy as most of the fragrances in the same vein. Easy to wear, solid and definitely recommended. An extremely nice masculine and a mandatory check for any frankincense aficionado. Rating: 7.5/10

"Classic Myrrh" is so easy to wear! I've never been good with fancy words when reviewing scents and I know little about incense based dry scents, but I'll try to do my best to explain what I'm getting from "Classic Myrrh" as someone who usually avoids these kind of scents. "Classic Myrrh" is extremely dry and woody yet it manages to be almost soft and smooth in it's composition. This is also on verge of being just a bit too sour (you know the wood polish type of scent), but it always pulls together giving a really lovely clean vibe. "Classic Myrrh" lasts and lasts and has an excellent sillage. I will pass on this though I recommend trying it. My search for a frankincense keeps going! :)

Simple, warm, balsamic woody scent with some frankincense and light "Dr. Pepper" sweetness. Quite pleasant; not screechy or offensive. I agree with the other reviewers who pointed out this isn't a myrrh-centered scent, although I will say the cola aspect does bring myrrh to mind. I didn't find my sample to have especially insane silliage or longetivity, which is something other reviewers pointed out - perhaps there is variation between batches, or I'm anosmic to something in the scent. I probably wouldn't buy a full bottle, but I did enjoy this.

A strong incense driven sillage monster of a fragrance this is one that is only for those who like strong balsamic perfumes. The perfume begins in a cloud of incense, cedar and petitgrain. As it settles, one can detect guaiac wood, violet and sandalwood. Finally it settles into a musty powdery base of myrrh, patchouli, cistus and vetiver. Not for the squeamish, this perfume has tremendous sillage and longevity. It is an eccentric, moody, and uncompromisingly musty scent. Only for the most daring. Enjoy!

This is maybe the best patchouli scent for me, as myrrh-like incense is harmoniously embedded in the patchouli base note and a nearly balsamic wood note (guaiac). Except myrrh, which you could guess here, I could smell all the notes very well. Very fine! Fragrance 8/10, longevity 8/10, sillage 7/10, Flacon 8/10

Solemn, meditative, velvety, comfortable and simply incredibly resistant. These are three: Frankincense, white Cedar, violet, where where the main lot is of course with incense. I calmly treat incense fragrances, sometimes it is cool when they evoke not very pleasant associations (with people's departure from life ...), but this fragrance evokes a feeling of bliss and rest (of peace of life). Yes, it can be called "ecclesiastical", but only wedding and baptism rites come to mind, when everyone is happy. I tried the scent without looking at the pyramid at all and expected to hear myrrh (given the name). Miro, of course, is not here, to which I was surprised (I’m waiting all the same) My firmness, as mentioned above, is excellent! As for the other notes, neither I heard the vetiver nor the patchouli. Aroma unisesex, suitable for both men and women. For me, this fragrance has become one of the eccentric perfumes, Falling asleep in it just magically) warm woody notes very well fit incense, and the violet makes the fragrance soft, velvety .. I will definitely take the bottle. P.S. Correctly corrected me at the expense of myrrh and myrrh, the flavors are really different and purpose. Here is Mirra yes, 100% is in this fragrance! Now I read the differences between myrrh and myrrh and found the following information: "Nowadays, the resin used by the fans of the ancient Indian medical system - Ayurveda. It is believed that its flavor is ideal for meditation, brings light and stimulates the growth of positive energy. Myrrh and dentists who recognize alternative treatments. They recommend this substance for bleeding gums, periodontal disease, stomatitis. " The keyword "meditation"! Without knowing this information about myrrh, you still cannot deceive your feelings - meditative and solemn!

A green curtain of austere violet leaves, embroidered with citric petitgrain parts to reveal the resinous, liturgical heart built around a powerful combo of myrrh and labdanum. This incense accord is complete with smoke and dusted with sandalwood and violet powder. When the smoke and dust settle down, what you are left with is a whisper of patchouli and vetiver that forms a barely perceptible layer over the skin. Many titles from this line share common characteristics. They seem to have a high percentage of natural oils that make the star notes complex but at the same time create a "smudgy" effect as opposed to the sheer aesthetics of aroma chemicals. Sometimes they give an aromatherapy impression that might take some getting used to. Also, that retro violet note seems to find its way into literally every composition from this house. Myrrh is no different in these aspects. I like the contrasted start of Classic Myrrh and really immerse myself in the rich heart notes. I will never say no to an aura of sandalwood either. What I am not that crazy about is that big dollop of smokiness that feels like I am carrying an incense burner in my pocket and the dry down that feels somewhat blunt and uninspired, like the stuffy air inside a head-shop. Overall, a nice fragrance with a strong core that could benefit even more from some polishing up and a more modern base. Try for yourselfs.

I concur 100% with alfarom’s review below. I just wanted to add, beware of spraying this on your clothes. It leaves behind an unyielding dusty, stale myrrh stench. The longevity is unbelieveable. I have been collecting scarves and sweaters all week that need cleaned and that have just trace amounts of this perfume from overspray. Still very strong days later and reeking of antiques and exactly like “grandma’s personal drawers”.
