The Two Roses

I love love love this. If it wasn't for Lust by Lush this would be my signature scent; warm, jammy, creamy rose and a sort of spiciness that never jumps out at you. I got it, like many of my frags, based on the bottle. I found the moodiness endearing and adored the tester. Upon looking at the box further on the way home I had discovered it's unlikely connection to history, another favourite hobby of mine! It was an unpredictable and welcome collaboration on my behalf and I found myself enamoured by the house/s that created the collection. This particular frag was inspired by the Tudor era of England and the Tudor Wars respectively. Without the notes in mind, I do sort of find this fitting to be an almost fantastical medieval perfume. I know this wouldn't be as true to the era in terms olfactorily, but it's moodiness draws out an inexplicably lovely dark, jammy rose that lingers on the skin, like an opulent feast in the early mornings of a rainy autumn day. There's no petrichor, but it feels like a rainy day scent. My only complaint is that this lasted longer, I feel for an extrait de parfum I am being sold a little bit of snake oil if it only performs like any other parfum you can purchase, but not everyone can be a winner in all categories. Definitely safe for lovers of creamy and jammy roses, but also those looking for moody, maybe historically inspired scents. This does perform significantly better in cooler months, but can be a delightful spring nigh time fragrance!

This is a gorgeous floral fragrance that feels a lot more expensive than what it costs. The rose petal note dominates the opening of this fragrance, and it is has just the right amount of sweetness. As it dries down, the cedar, amber, and a hint of musk start to develop with the rose and violet still noticeable. This fragrance is perfectly unisex, and it's perfect for a guy like me who likes the smell of roses. For a guy, it's unique yet perfectly wearable. This will be one of my go to fragrances for spring.

Wow, what a find. This is clearly a rose scent, but it’s not jammy or sickening. Neither is it fresh and crisp like Tea Rose. I would describe it as dusty, and a bit powdery, with a slightly woody base. The sillage is decent, and longevity is greater than 7 hours, although it does get close to the skin. I think this is my favourite rose scent.

Beautiful. It starts off a bit sweet and similar to Roses Musk or Cafe Rose by Montale, as others have said. Then it changes into a dark red rose that is a bit dry and spicy. It ends dusty and powdery. My only regret is that the silage is not more. Although not best in show, this could pass for a niche scent and costs a lot less!

I love this fragrance. It is very unique. I don't get a strong rose scent but rather a hint of rose. I think the amber/cappuccino combo adds greatly to this fragrance. I definitely think it is unisex. I am ordering a second bottle now.

A gorgeous, dark, sultry, sexy scent reminiscent of a bouquet of crimson roses on your kitchen bench as you sip a warm coffee. The sillage at a glance could be forgiven for being seen as a unisex scent however once you approach the wearer definitely becomes a feminine scent. Slightly spicy and earthy, the kind of perfume worn by a woman who takes control. The sillage isn’t very strong and the longevity is only about 2-3 hours on my skin but that is forgivable due to its low price point. Usually I wouldn’t wear this kind of a heavy scent around the office but due to its subtlety I don’t find it an issue. The same can be said about it’s seasonality, if it were a stronger perfume with a heavier throw I would reserve it for the cooler months, but I have no problem wearing this in spring and summer. As a bonus, the bottle also looks nice on my bureau, however it would be nice if the different scents from this brand had distinguishing features amongst the bottles so they could be more easily identified when next to each other, although once again at this price point it is not a concern and shouldn’t influence your decision on whether to purchase. If this lasted longer I would have no hesitation making it my signature scent however it is only detectable from a foot or two away for about 30-60 minutes and then only detectable on the skin for 2, 3 hours max. After 3 hours even on pulse points it is undetectable, even when you put your nose right up to where you sprayed. Lasts on fabrics for maybe 3-4 hours. Its longevity is its biggest issue and such a let down. Based on smell alone I’d rate it 5/5, but incorporating the longevity and throw I would have to downgrade it to a 3/5.

The younger brother to Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun. The rose is so couched in powder and musk that it's not strongly identifiable as rose, instead manifesting more as a part of the iris and amber combination. On the dry down, it surprisingly develops a more dark floral side, along with a note resembling a black coffee. Silage is decent enough, even without much longevity. A favourable choice for this price point.

A beautiful, sensuous and powdery rose and violet accord. The drydown is a powdery woody due to the cedar and musk. Don't know why this perfume has such a low rating, but i do think that it caters to certain skin.

This fragrance is. . . interesting. I feel so conflicted with it. It is so unique, yet also so strange to me. I bought it, wanting a more feminine-leaning fragrance, and was aware it may not be incredible based on the reviews I saw, but what I received was so conflicting. It smells very very very sweet, like sinthetically sweet, while also being conflicted with some florals, a little bit of woods, and annother note that makes it so unique, that I have honestly never smelt before, and the only way I can describe it is as already listed, and that is almost like a cappuccino, which just gives it such a uniqueness to it. However, when it dries down on my skin, it sadly turns into a kind of rotten sweetness to me that sort of reminds me a bit of a BO smell, which sadly sort of makes it unwearable. And as well as that, it does NOT last. It lasts probably about 3.5 to 4 hours for me, then it's gone. So can I layer it with others? Yeah, if I am smart and very specific with the fragrance. However, will I probably wear it again? No, probably not. I will keep it for its uniqueness, but that's all. Best Season: Autumn, Price: Probably the best you can find, just that the price matches the scent a bit, Longevity and Sillage: Crap, Bottle Design: Pretty cool, the cap is very unique and so is the box, like it a lot, Overall: 2.6/10

A dupe of Intense Cafe or Roses Musk.

I wore a tester for a day and hated this intensely. It's unisex but, perhaps a little more male. It's extremely heavy and mature. The smell is an intense dry powdery rose smell with spicey and woody elements. I can also smell the Cappucino strongly, which I honestly find to be a weird and downright offensive combination with the rose. I had to scrub it off my skin but it still lingered all day, so at least the longevity is strong. I don't like to leave super negative reviews but I don't even know how to diplomatically talk about this one. It exists in headache-inducing cheap old-man cologne territory and I hate it so much. I'm very disappointed as I think the branding/concept is pretty cool.

I liked this when I first smelt it in the shop. But I must've been having a stroke because it is the most sickly, nauesea inducing purfume I've ever had the misfortunate to buy. It makes me feel sick for hours after just giving it a wiff from the bottle. The one time I tried to wear it I had to go home and change. Not suitable for those of us sensitive to strong purfumes. Bottle is pretty though...

This is an incredibly powdery rose that’s also quite sugary. There’s also an animalic note to it that’s quite off-putting and I’m not sure why. It kind of smells pissy in a sense - I don’t think the combination of notes goes well with my skin chemistry unfortunately. Overall, this is a little nauseating and smells like your typical old-lady scent. There’s nothing to really write home about.

I tested this rise one and Dracula They're masculine, almost not clean enough for a woman... might make her smell dirty perhaps?? Not bad scents, I should give them a better go, I like all sorts of fragrances but could not imagine spraying this all over and feeling good. Th accords don't match the acent

Pretty decent perfume, I’m a sucker for anything rose and like others have mentioned it is pretty similar to Roses Musk or Cafe Rose by Montale, it’s not sickeningly sweet or woody ,it’s just the right balance ... I personally love it ,if only the silage and longevity was stronger

Yeah I'm not a big fan of this one, and I love rose. I don't like perfumersbworkshopbeither, so much of a black tea type vibe. There is something animalistic sorta in the middle of this one. Starts off ok, I don't like the middle, the end is so so. Will test again

This isn’t a synthetic rose. It’s very pretty. I get an ambery, Carmel like rose on my skin. Maybe that’s the cappuccino aspect. It’s not overly strong but you can smell it on yourself. Very nice.
