Le Grand Jeu

So I needed another Goutal Songes ? Yeah, looks like it. I don't care. Well I saw the aesthetic of this brand, the 2 perfumers of this one (2 great), the notes. Could not resist. Overall, it's lovely. Less sharp than my old bottle of Songes, softer. Will last all day but not aggressively, just a fleeting scent. It's probably gonna be my "pick me up" scent for the Summer. I don't get the previous comment, my bottle is really just coconut, gardenia, bubblegum tuberose on some vanilla background. Simple but effective, no need for more. The new Printemps store in NYC Wall Street location has this line for testing !!! Their luxury-indie fragrances section is fantastic. Finally some diversity in indie fragrances and not just the typical big names. Interesting stuff there.

Coconut milky goodness! Hints of green crispness but also quite bold. Topically flowery sweet but in a dressed up way. Most tropical coconut-y scents tend to lean suntan / sunblock-y but Le Grand Jeu offers something else to the senses. It has a citronella scent to it that I absolutely adore. It has sex appeal. Imagine summertime in the beach. You’re all dressed up in a linen blazer and pants, looking good, smelling great as you walk across the shoreline with a hot date. Le Grand Jeu lasted for more or less 5 hours on my skin. Sillage grew in the heat which is great for this type of fragrance. It’s definitely a head turner because this scent makes you feel sexier than usual. Oh lala!

Oh this is coconut creamy straight away. It's full on coconut at first, and the florals comes around as it dries down. It's silky smooth and sumptuous, like a late warm summer night. I'd count it as a coconut milk perfume before a gardenia one, but the maker's description is honestly spot on. I don't usually like coconut scents because they tend to be a bit grating, but this one is lovely. If I was to describe it as a colour, it'd be #FFFCF4

The longevity is great, but it sits very very close to the skin. The most amazing thing about this perfume is that I kept smelling my wrist all day and kept guessing if I would smell coconut or magnolia or tuberose the next time I stuck my nose onto my skin. It really was a play...it kept changing. The quality of the materials used for this fragrance is amazing, very natural. There is something about this perfume that makes me smile.

This is a new favorite for me! I get hit with a powerful burst of gardenia in the opening, but it softens quickly into a creamy coconut vanilla delicacy softly supported on a bed of white florals. It has just the right amount of sweetness - a hint of edibility without being cloying, candylike, or juvenile. I absolutely love it, and this might end up being *the* official summer and/or vacation scent for me.

LOVE at first sniff. Le Grand Jeu ... The Great Game. Gorgeous. Tropical beachy white floral with creamy milky coconut that sings in the warmth. Love the gardenia in this. Lux, smooth soft sweetness. Almost has a banana like creamy quality to the scent. Tan skin, languid sexy summer nights. best in warmth/heat. lasts at least 9 hours on me, longer on clothes. 🌴 ☀️

Really lovely spring and summer scent! Creamy white florals and coconut, and no sunscreen. Nice and easy to wear. Drydown leans a bit vanilla sweet on me. It opens with a bright and sweet note that softens into a more pleasant floral overtone over time. Projects nicely and feels like good quality.

Beautiful, luxorious expensive smellin, almost buttery, lactonic & lush thick and sensual white florals with creamy coconut, and slightly bubblegummy intoxicating tuberose. Gorgeous. I can imagine as a white sandy tropical beach wedding fragrance ♡

Beach in a bottle. It is a creamy coconut perfume with floral notes. Bold, for hot days. A picture? The sand on my feet... This perfume is 100% natural and based on organic wheat alcohol. You need to try if you like Beach Walk, Terracotta, Songes, etc

Extremely creamy gardenia and tuberose, soft coconut and vanilla, beachy. Must be the creamiest of this kind, Cocaine and Love Tuberose vibes, just better. I am not a fan of such perfumes, but even I am at least moderately enchanted.

Beautiful milky white tropical floral. Quite linear, does not develop in any complicated way. Very similar to Songes to my nose. Lasting power on skin is not great, on fabric it lingers a good while. Considering the pricetag...

It's delicate and creamy, very long lasting. Reminds me of summer and sunscreen but it's still quite fresh not overly sweet.

blind tested this and first thoughts: wow, that's mellow and sweet in a really soft way... I'm thinking a luxurious bubble bath with some rice infused soap... definitely feels lactonic 15 min in: wow, that's really become quite bubblegum-y, not sure if I like it anymore there's no bubblegum note and now reading the actual notes- the coconut makes total sense, but I can't get pink bubblegum out of my head. and sadly, I agree with others that it kinda reminds me of cheap coconut body lotion, as many coconut notes do ....

I think this perfume should be called Bewildering because I am having trouble figuring out what it wants to say. Top notes are bubblegum, rubber and butter for about 15 minutes then I experience that phenomena called nose blindness. This hasn’t happened to me before. Hope I smell nice.

Beachy white florals and a clear coconut note. Sweet, breezy, uncomplicated. Clean florals read a bit "shampoo" to me, and that's how this feels when it settles down. If I want a richer and more complicated tuberose & coconut, I'll reach for Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower.

First spray is truly beautiful, a few seconds later it has this just-cleaned public washroom scent. Yes, tropical and coconutty, I don't know why I'm smelling this now. Once, I'd sampled in the past and found it beautiful, perhaps it is hormones at work...

The opening is strong,smells like inhaler for cough that i needed use in childhood, even didnt wait for drydown, scrubber.

Over the course of the last year, I tested and wore a decant of Le Grand Jeu. I immediately liked the scent, but im a sucker for tropical florals so this was no big surprise. At first, I thought really nice but I don't need it. A year later, I have a full bottle and have promoted Le Grand Jeu to my.top 5 scents at the moment. To me, this perfume is the perfect combination of buttery white florals and coconut. It actually reminds me of the lovechild of Vittoria Apuana's coconut vanilla and Bond No 9 Saks for Her's opulent white florals. If you combined those 2 in your mind, this is what Le Grand Jeu smells like. I think Isabelle Doyen is an amazing perfumer. Whilst I disagree with previous reviewer in that this doesn't smell similar to Songes to me, I do think that they are made in a similar style. Beautiful, natural florals made creamy and sweet with a very elegant use of vanilla. If you love tropical florals or coconut, please at least sample this fragrance. It really is one of the very best in its genre.

I am kind of disappointed by this fragrance. I love coconut fragrances and I am in a desperate search for the perfect milky (lactonic) fragrance. This one is not it. I read the reviews and purchased a decant, and honestly - it smells like a cheap coconut body lotion. The opening is kind of vintage flower scent that older ladies would be wearing and there is nothing creamy, light and coconut about it. Few minutes later coconut steps in but then flower scents start disappearing and just sweet artificial coconut body lotion scent stays. Also, it lasts around 30mins and then it becomes more like a "skin scent" - like you would apply a very perfumed body lotion on. For me definitely not what I would expect...

I have a nearly full refill bottle plus several mls I decanted into a test sprayer of Le Grand Jeu to give away. It is gorgeous and top quality, just not for me. I would love to see it go to someone who will wear it and love it. Is anyone near Virginia interested? If not too expensive I could mail it to you. Perhaps we could arrange a swap or reimbursement for shipping?

Ultra creamy gardenia.Perfectly balanced composition of old school pungent white floral and laid-back vanilla-coconut. I suppose it's in the same ballpark as Songes and Terracotta but not identical to either of them. Isabelle Doyen is an absolute master of florals. Muy caliente!

Creamy vanilla and heady tuberose scent. Don’t really get the coconut so doesn’t lean too sunscreeny to me. You got to like tuberose to really enjoy this one. Nice scent but not for me. IG/Tiktok: @wilddew_vibes

Creamy coconut forward at first, more white florals on the drydown. Very high quality and longlasting with decent projection. I love the coconut, unfortunately the white florals aren't for me at all.
