Ethan Dolan Signature Scent

This is my signature scent right now. As a busy Mom, I went several years without wearing much of any fragrance because I was so sensitive to strong smells during my pregnancies. This is an energizing/awakening smell to me, with the coffee and the pink pepper blast of energy. I get the pleasantness of the warm vanilla/gourmand of a very faint almond; (wish the almond was stronger). My mother in law (who is somewhat of an expert on fragrance) says she could smell pepper; and I do wish the projection was better for the gourmand notes. I have worn black opium in the past, but I highly prefer this right now without the white floral notes of that it may not be as layered, or as beast mode as Black Opium, but to me it smells more like a younger or “cleaner” version of Black Opium, not headache inducing at all; I highly recommend! (I found this newer company brand out of L.A. through Ipsy beauty app subscription; when they first sold Wakeheart Prism (which I did not care for the mossy notes in that combined with the Vanilla), not unpleasant, just not the note combination I like best. This had all the notes that I was looking for in a fragrance after looking a while for a coffee, sweet, vanilla, gourmand; it smells like you are going to the beach of Spice Island.😃

While i was exploring Wakeheart's collection, i wanted to find the most interesting scents that i thought i would really like. And i must say, Ethan's Signature was a pleasant surprise. For a very simple composition, this fragrance packs a punch, and i mean that in a good way. Upon first spray, i get a sweet blend of warm Coffee and Almonds. It's bold and projective without being overbearing or unpleasant. About 20 minutes in, the Coffee and Almond is joined by Vanilla, adding a creamy accord to this fragrance. The Pink Pepper plays the backseat while adding a mild spiciness to this scent. The performance of this fragrance kind of had me fooled. That bold opening had me hoping it would last 5-6 hours, but only lasted 3 and a half, which isn't at all terrible for an eau de cologne. But that 3 and a half hours was quite the experience. Overall, i am far more pleased with this scent than Sunlit Sensations and I'm actually considering buying another bottle. I didn't think this fragrance would be bad, but i wasn't expecting it to be this good. So if you're looking to try any fragrance from the Wakeheart collection, i would highly suggest this one. Scent: 9/10 Packaging: 7/10 Performance: 6/10

It smells exactly like Black opium with pink peppercorn in the drydown so it gives a sweetness to this warm scent. Longevity is alright but i wish it would have more projection.

Yep , smells so much like black opium. Maybe with a little bit of a sweeter/ vanilla dry down . I got mine from ipsy for 25$. Such a great buy !

I got this as a blind buy because people say it smells like Black Opium...and it does! Now Black Opium is funny because I really like it but there's also something about it I don't love hiding in the background. Everyone says it's supposed to smell like coffee but to me it smells a little too sweet; more like jolly ranchers than coffee even though it doesn't have any fruity notes. This, on the other hand, is almost identical to Black Opium but WITHOUT that sweet/sour note that I don't care for and I can actually get a trace of the coffee and almond of the background instead. So I got this because I like Black Opium but don't love it and the price was insanely good compared to it. If you've smelled and like Black Opium I would call this a safe blind buy. WITH THAT BEING SAID, it is insanely sweet. More so than Black Opium. I had previously called this "twice as good" but with time I'm not sure that's true anymore. I've downgraded my love to a like. It feels very, very young on me in a not great way, like something a high school girl would wear. I like gourmand but is more sweet and less rich as far as gourmands go.

I don't know anything about the creators of this house, but I got a sample of the scent through my Ipsy subscription. So I figured, why not try it? I don't really get coffee from this scent - it's more of a root bear float to me. I guess the coffee and almond combined give me a root bear vibe, of course the vanilla represents ice cream, and the pink pepper gives it that "carbonated" feel. This had me liking the fragrance more than I thought I would. However, this scent soon becomes dominated by the vanilla and doesn't stand out much in the Sea of Vanilla that seems to be the fragrance world at the moment. It is unisex, though, and it could be a nice everyday fragrance for the wintertime if you lean towards gourmands. It's just not my favorite.

I try really hard not to be too snarky in my Fragrantica reviews; every perfume I hate is someone else's favorite, after all. This perfume really tests my will on that. It smells like a cheap vanilla candle, melted wax and all. About the only compliment I can think of is that I've smelled worse vanillas.

Smells like Black Opium mixed with public bathroom soap

I actually love this. It reminds me of black opium in a way, but a lil sweeter, a lil more vanilla forward. It has a comforting vibe about it. Just wish it performed a bit better, it's definitely not the worst, but I think I'd reach for it more often if it lasted longer/projected better. Still really really like it.

This is what I wanted Black Opium to smell like. Sweet, powdery, a little kick of pepper and coffee.
