Bare Sentient Sol

This isn't exactly what I was expecting but I like it overall. The fragrance immediately gives off a strong tanning lotion/sunscreen vibe that stays throughout its life but it is anchored down by some smokey notes and a spicy note here and there. I feel like it can also be considered a skin scent, as there is something natural that comes through for me. Best for hot, humid sunny weather!

I met the perfumer at his launch at the Institute for Art & Olfaction Scent Fair. I usually make a few rounds at the fair, just to see which houses are there and to sniff all the new scents. I almost never test on skin when I'm there because there are so many scents and it becomes overwhelming. Also, I also never buy any full bottles until I've tested everything at the fair. I make a second round to re-test, and make some final decisions about which scents really belong in my collection. I stopped at this booth on my first round, and heard the perfumer speak about this scent, and I knew I HAD to try it on my skin. He was inspired by his travels to Tulum, Mexico, and created two scents, a daytime scent - this one, Bare Sentient Sol and a matching evening scent, Bare Sentient Nocturnal. Tulum is definitely one of my favorite places on earth - the laid-back beachy vibe, the lush jungle greenery, the incredibly blue ocean, and salty air are perfection. These scents captured all of that; not just the beauty and the lush smells, but also the laid-back vibe. Both scents are like a vacation in a bottle. Sol has a warm sun tan lotion & copal smell whereas Nocturnal has a sultry tobacco over day-in-the-sun warmed skin. You really need to like scents like Bobbi Brown Beach with the Coppertone accord to like Sol. I immediately purchased bottles of both scents, which is so unlike me, but I am so happy to have them in my collection and wear them a lot in the summer. I also purchased the sample pack. His other scents are equally interesting and alluring. They are all very edgy and sensual. It's a great house, and I can't wait to see him succeed.
