Rosé L.A.

My second-favorite scent from botanical perfumery Wit & West is a wonderfully accurate representation of an effervescent, crisp rose. It is sweet, bright, and so very delightful. I love it. Its longevity is excellent and the projection is pretty strong for most of it. Rose L.A. would be a great one to try first if you are new to botanicals as it is exceedingly approachable.

Rose LA is a fun bright citrus rose perfume. It smells kind of like rose/citrus candy. I like this one a lot but I just bought something similar recently but again better than this one by Laro called Yellow Rose. Laro Yellow Rose uses lemon instead of grapefruit. I am having a problem w/ this brands grapefruit and yuzu accords. Maybe it is their source material, or they are not ageing the perfumes long enough or too long, I don't know but the grapefruit and yuzu accords are very sharp in the beginning of the fragrance and that is off putting. Once this settles down it becomes a fun sweet citrus candied rose but the opening for me is a bit harsh. Also, the base is very woody. Crunchy woods. I like smooth and creamy woods much better.

Middle age male reviewer, medium experienced in frags. This was a frag that immediately brought memories up with a sense of childhood nostalgia, a favorite effect from any new fragrance and not that common. My preference in frags is always natural botanicals. This is about my sixth try from this brand, and I'm very pleased with all of them. They are along the lines of Abel, whereby they are a bit more on the mass-access side than the more niche-artsy side (tho another I tried and have yet to review pushed that boundary to the point of having never smelled anything like it...their "Miki Mochi" which I have yet to figure out how I'm going to word the review due to the strange experience it gave). This is one that would likely have a lot of mass appeal. It is a sweet rose to my nose, from beginning to end. I'm a day in now on a test plate in my room, my usual way of testing frags. It has remained a wonderful photo-realistic sweet-ish rose that even has some travel outside the room. Sweet-ish...but not "jammy," for the record. If you want a room to smell like fresh roses in a great way, give a paper plate four generous sprays and hide it in a corner, it will permeate the room. Uplifting and pleasant. I say "photo-realistic" in comparing it to a Tom Ford Rose Cafe (Cafe Rose?) I tried many years ago; a hard slap-on-the-face rose that is piercing in comparison, and lead me to a quick headache; this did not cause a headache. I'm to the point now in my fragrance journey where I can tell the difference between a synthetic botanical and a natural one. The latter will almost never make me sick, the former too often will, despite at times smelling almost exactly the same. There's just some level of hard artificial coldness to the aromachemical concoctions so often that I can now pick up on. If you like rose, this is a must-try, you won't be disappointed. Side benefits of apparent projection, sillage and possible impressive longevity for a natural. UPDATE (The next day): The test plate has the sandalwood now; a great, soft and relaxing sandalwood. The rose has mostly faded. Great frag, this is full bottle worthy.

You and your friends are all sitting poolside at Chateau Marmont. You're in your cutest teeny weeny lily white bikini chewing a big hunk of bubble gum and sipping champagne. Laughter echos against the stoic classic building that has seen and heard more Hollywood gossip than anyone should be allowed to. Fun, frolicky and somewhat fleeting which is common for all naturals... A nice light pretty sparkly rose and citrus forward fragrance.
