Jasmine Bae Saranae

I enjoy trying new indie/niche houses, but it does always come with somewhat of a risk. Will these be inspired creations, or sloppy mad science experiments? I'm happy to report that my samples from this house are the former, and that Whitney is indeed talented as an up-and-coming perfumer. Jasmine Bae Saranae opens just indolic, but quickly settles down as a fluffy and well-behaved jasmine. The mint note is not obvious, but reinforces a feeling of cleanliness in the scent. Almost like a much improved clean laundry scent. (Is this what people walking around reeking of detergent/fabric softener think they smell like?) What sits close to the skin after several hours is very nice. I ended up wearing primarily this during a recent Florida vacation, where it managed to achieve a cooling balance warm sun and the incoming fall breeze. Its mood is ambivalent without being a bore, which feels appropriate when you just want calm or are already overstimulated. Not headache triggering at all, which is amazing for a clean floral. Performance is on the weaker side of average, but very passable for a natural scent. I recommend checking this one out if, like me, you want to dip your toes in jasmine and want one on the lighter side. This almost reminds me a bit of the Gucci Bloom scents, and could be a good fit if you are a seeking a more naturalistic version.

This perfume is blended so beautifully–it's not exactly what I would reach for to wear, but I appreciate the artistry here. It reminds me of Fiele Santalum without being as sandalwood-forward. I can see why W&W has the reputation it does for all-natural fragrances. I'm excited to try more.

Agreed with the other review re jasmine and mint. I went into my sample not knowing the notes at all. It started with a very pleasant white floral, but with an added "something" that I couldn't pinpoint. I consider myself a "layperson nose," middle age male with a good amount of frag experience but by no means an expert. It was the mint that I couldn't identify, outside of relating it somehow/someway to chewing gum (in a good way). That said, after sampling probably hundreds of frags at this point in my life, I can't recall ever experiencing a combo like this. It's interesting and works. Even dries down minty, and the green element is also noticed throughout the life of the scent, making it a worthwhile option to try as a natural freshy. My fourth sample from this brand, am very pleased with their offerings thus far. They're one of those brands that is doing a good job at crossing their naturals into a more commercial-centric space without smelling outright commercial. On that note, nothing I've tried gives me a headache or nausea thus far (almost all department store frags make me sick pretty readily, and I'm not a fan of freshies because of it, which is what 95% of them at our stores in my area of the US are).

This is such an intriguing fragrance. I can't say I can name any fragrances that have combined jasmine with mint before and it's so refreshing. Me, along with my perfume buddy Zephyr1973, are both jasmine fanatics, and I think between us, we've tried them all, so it's super fun to find a beautiful jasmine fragrance presented in a new way, and it's a huge plus that it's all-natural. I would love to give this another try in warmer weather. Where I am now, it's between 30 degrees Fahrenheit at night and 50 degrees during the day. I would imagine that the florals would sing more loudly in warmer weather, but even so, I love how this wears in cooler weather. The green mint was first on the scene, and it's not a "fresh" mint, but almost a mentholated mint, supported by a warm and fresh photo-realistic pink jasmine, and the tiniest bit of orange blossom for a flowery fluffiness. This reminds me very much of one of my all-time favorite fragrances, Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle with the juxtaposition of the mentholated mint to bring out the depth in the lush florals. This is truly exceptional and definitely full bottle worthy.

Salty minty... When i thought "Jasmine Pet Noi" was ritual, then "Jasmine Bae Saranae" is the remedy. It's like the try balm that cure and release muscle pain, & it remind me so much of "Esprit du Tigre" byJames Heeley as i'd classify it within that category. It's very sharp minty that i almost feel it saltiness mixed with neroli, & bits of orange & leaving orange blossoms as the aftertaste behind... i can barely feel the jasmines within, and it is the exact jasmines that i detected in "Jasmine Pet No" but it's barely detected because of the overloaded mint. I can't dislike this blend although i hate mint in blends (but LOVE it in chocolate and ice cream), but this blend is addictive! the technique used in blending in the notes is just beautiful. Beautiful indeed.
