Gavitella

A fascinating fragrance. Earthy with not much citrus coming through but much brighter than a typical earthy fragrance. It triggers a pleasant memory for me that I can't quite place. I find myself breathing the scent in deeply trying to connect with that long ago memory which is always just out of reach.

In this perfume, you can tell that the perfumer Whitney "Wit" is a dancer, and she likely dances with a troupe. I say this because this "freshy" perfume is so fresh and restrained at the same time; much like dancing with a troupe. When dancing with a troupe, your choreography needs to be original, but balanced. It doesn't work if one of the performers is a diva who keeps taking center stage, or if someone else cannot keep up. Both would ruin the choreography. I usually steer clear of perfume with vetiver. I find that it often overwhelms the composition; it constantly steals the show like a diva - but not here. Here, it adds earthy depth while softness and warmth come from the sandalwood. In my culture, Cypress is sacred and I am quite familiar with the smell. To me, it has a deep earthy resinous smell, however, in this composition, it is light and breezy; like a cypress tree in the sunshine with an added kiss of orange blossom. This perfume is like a perfectly choreographed dance because it surprised me with plenty of "oohs and aahs" treating notes I know in ways I hadn't expected, yet it's so well blended, nothing stands out like a diva; this is so well done!
