Caldera Flower

Caldera Flower reaches in, grabs me, and pulls me into its world. It reminds me that my senses are still as sharp as ever, that botanical distillations still hold such a large place in my heart, and their unfettered beauty, laid bare, tells some powerful stories. My synesthesia creates a silvery luster in my mind, with dew drops slowly descending from harp strings, one after another, in continuous succession. The blinding radiance of its opening bergamot, neroli and ginger was a welcome diversion from the proper perfumery that keeps top notes safe and somewhat muted. These sing, and as the voices eventually lower to a hush, the luminescent gardenia, as if glowing in darkness, feels as though its been drenched by a midnight rain. I watch as it dries into sunrise, while ambrette seed is like the morning sun warming my skin.

I love that this is a more natural perfume and especially that it is leaping bunny certified; that is a huge deal for me. Unfortunately, this particular scent just didn't develop well on my skin at all. I had nothing but neroli and ylang ylang. The ylang ylang was quite strong at first which I didn't care for since it has that odd urinal type scent. Once that died down a bit, it was tolerable but there was no development past that. A bit of a disappointment.
