Brumaire Woods

Easily my favorite from the house. After letting this one sit for about a month and a half, this went from a scent I enjoyed to a scent I love! The mint hits strong off the top. Cooling...almost menthol-like, the mint is rich and thick. After a minute or so, the lavender (which you'd think would give off earthy) lends an sweeting facet and to the mint and the thyme, while I can't detect, must be what helps ground this. As bright and airy as I open, I worried it would keep going and luckily it settled just right. About 10-20 minutes in, I can detect the neroli. The mint settles a bit more and you get a citrus almost sharpness. I found myself not needing to bring my arm to my nose so much in the first few hours because this one envelopes you in the best way. This one is a love. The journey this takes you on is incredible. Full bottle worthy for sure but with these scents I recommend patience. Spray and wait...you will not be disappointed

I love that this is unabashedly herbal, warts and all, the way I love it. My taste for aromatics range from pleasantly subtle to full-on Santa Maria Novella antique medicinal-unguent strong, and Brumaire Woods is firmly in the latter. It stars with a fist gripping a sampler from the herb garden, smelling of mint, thyme, hyssop, pennyroyal, and the garden soil mingling with it all. The trigeminal nerve is activated: feeling cool, bracing, and sharp. A few minutes pass, and suggestions of neroli are evident, but what really blooms on my skin is a heaping mound of oakmoss that fixes the herbaceous bouquet for a good while, feeling reminiscent to the mossiest aromatics that were marketed to gents in the 70s and 80s. One comes to mind: R de Capucci, one of the most oakmossy heavy fragrances I've smelled. This one is up there, and the thyme paired with it is a brilliant decision. This is definitely my favorite from Wit and West.

The fragrance opens with a spicy, medicinal mint, leading into a herb garden in full bloom with orange blossom. The oakmoss is lush, and the overall scent is sweet and rich. I could fall asleep every night in this dreamy herb garden.

Middle age male, average nose review. My fourth from this brand. This was risky for me. My personal opinion won't be positive, but note it's extremely subjective (due to not liking the profile to begin with) and that there are those that will unquestionably like this scent: I'm not an aromatic fan...at all. I detest department store calone bombs, which are plentiful. They give me instant headaches and nausea. So I'm not into many freshy genres, with just an exception or two, and I'm not a lavender fan at all, and very selective about greenys. So I read the review below mine after I sprayed this on a large test plate. Several sprays. This stuff is strong. She didn't get lavender...I sure as heck did. But it occurred to me that if someone doesn't like a specific note, they're more likely to sense it more readily, AND it may stand out more for the simple fact that we'll notice what we don't like often above all else. I think that may be what happened between us. I wanted to wait for any oakmoss and tobacco bottom, because that's def more my style. But I couldn't. A half an hour on a test plate, four-five sprays, it was dominating the room, so I had to get rid of the plate. That said, it likely has great projection for a natural, and I couldn't comment on longevity being as it is I didn't give it a chance. SO: Not to my liking at all, but with the understanding that people who DO like what I DON'T, may dig it a great deal. The other three I've tried from this brand have been mostly terrific. And to the nose that appreciates the scent profile this one does, they'd prolly like/love this one as well. It's potent, soapy, heady, at least for a solid half hour. I bet it had hours left on it easily.
