Summit Rose

This is a very unique fragrance. It feels like you are at the top of a snowy mountain and holding a rose. You get the refreshing, bracing coolness of the evergreen tree along with the rose. The base is a dry incense which lingers. The color is a deep amber and you can tell it's all natural elements. This is a love for me.

Summit Rose reminds me of L'Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses, except instead of the patchouli as thief of said roses, here it is fir trees, with help from its accomplice, rosewood. The rose is buried in their grip, just within reach of the nose, but make no mistake: this is a wholly woody affair, and I do appreciate that. I will always have a fondness for balsam fir, being a New Englander who was raised on Paine's of Maine balsam fir incense sticks and those small fragrant pillow with chickadees printed on them that are filled with fir needles. Summer Rose has that same yuletide festive feel, except with a rosier tint.

I really wanted to like this. I love earthy, woody, piney scents and rose but I can't grow to like the marjoram. It smells too much like a food scent to me, just as putting basil, thyme, or oregano in a perfume would be. Bummmmmmmmed Despite all of the earthy notes, it is a cool scent to me. Not warm and cozy.

Summit Rose isn't a horrible fragrance, but it just isn't well blended. It is choppy, and undeveloped. I also don't know where they are sourcing their materials, but they don't smell like the highest quality. It has the smell of rosewood and fir shavings, like the scrap's leftover at a lumberyard. It seriously smells like wood chips I used to line my rabbit's litterboxes with.
