Koh Tao

Two years ago my Italian colleague introduced this brand to me and I immediately fell in love with their Black Collection. Last year when I was in Milan for work, I got a chance to try out other lines at Malpensa Airport. This bottle is a love at first sniff. "Summer breeze from Southeast Asia", that's the phrase that pops up in my mind upon smelling it. The fresh and green opening unmistakably contains bamboo and green leaves. Growing up in Asia, I am so familiar with the fresh clean woody smell of bamboo. I tend to associate its distinctive smell with relaxing vibe and zen moment. The green leaves (palm and banana) are typical of tropical climate. You smell the fresh sap from the leaves when you cut and crush them. Ginger, on the other hand, with its fresh spicy notes, really manages to make the opening special. It is airy, comfortable, smooth in this opening stage. On my skin it gets fruity and sweet as it develops. I can smell some tropical fruit like mango and pineapple. Imagine having diced mango and pineapple served on banana leaves. That's the picture I have in mind. In the final stage I actually smell aquatic and creamy floral notes. It is gentle and soothing. Since it is EDT, the performance is relatively weak. It fades to skin scent after a few hours. I suggest re-spraying in the afternoon if you wear it in the office.
