Red Velvet

Nice, especially for autumn and winter, day and night. It's too much for hot days. Fruity and round--mostly, I think, from the impressive combination of labdanum and tobacco, although I think I also smell a tiny hint of violet- or raspberry-like ionones contrasting with the more leathery base in a way that, structurally only, reminds me vaguely of Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather and a number of oud fragrances with the ionone-like effect up top. The opening here is medicinal/herbal, rooty/balsamic, velvety-plush, already slightly leathery, and a tiny bit earthy, with what I experience as a kind of clean, 'snowy-white', washing powder-adjacent quality (from the patchouli?) taking over with time. That last part is the same vaguely suede-like (and potentially cloying) effect that I find in Bentley Infinite Intense, though somewhat less obtrusive. The fragrance as a whole is classically masculine but makes me think partly of dark forest fruits, cherry menthol Tunes throat lozenges, perhaps fruity tobacco, or even a well-aged, complex but fruity red wine (possibly a minty, plummy Bordeaux blend), despite not smelling all that much like any of the above. Contrary to the votes, if this smells even remotely like Calgon Red Velvet then I'm the Flying Dutchman, as the Calgon appears to be inspired by red velvet cake, whereas this Womo scent is one third of a collection expressly inspired by fabrics (and, unlike the Calgon, isn't chock full of vanilla). Just saying--although I am basing this partly on the possibly mistaken presumption that red velvet cake doesn't often taste how the inside of a new car smells.
