True Rose

Wonderful. One of two HG rose solitaires for a rose lover. On my skin this is a jammy, deep, rich rose that is also somehow not overpowering, just present. I love it for layering - the rose is very forward and central, and other notes are accents to bring out facets of the rose. So when used for layering it offers a straightforward rose heart. Alone the complexity is subtle and the quality is superb. Major bang for buck here.

A somewhat sweet, girly rose. Must be the freesia that sweetens and rounds out the fragrance overall. The rose is dominant but since it leans more to the side of a blended fragrance than a soliflore, I wouldn't call it a 'true rose'. But I adore it for being very pretty and feminine. No hard edges.

This is the first fragrance I ever wore. It was a gift from my grandma and I wore it when I was 13 or 14. It felt very chique to me at the time and I have very fond memories of it. I remember the scent of it quite well, though I haven't yet seen it to test it again. I remember it to be a very pleasant rose scent. Not too sweet, a little green, nothing deep, rich or velvety. No evening rose, but a rose on a spring morning with petals covered with little droplets of dew. Quite suitable for young people as well. It's rose, and only rose. Light and fresh, and very very simple. I probably wouldn't like it that much now, but if I ever see a bottle of it, I'll be sure to test it.

The bottle I have is a pretty, gentle, mildly sweet, light, classic (I don't like to say "old fashioned") powdery, slightly sour and green rose, as opposed to a fruity-sweet, woody or oily rose. Not powerful, but delightful for tea or a walk through a garden. A nice starter frag, although I agree with other reviews that all ages can appreciate it. A bit soap-ish or perhaps a bit like potpourri, so be forewarned if that's not your thing to wear and you prefer to have that kind of scent for your home.

I just picked up the dusting powder to give it a try and to mix w/ my other rose perfumes. This is a really pretty uncomplicated red rose perfume. Like red roses from the hot house smell in a bouquet. Freshy cut so you can smell the greenness of the stems, the blooms are a fresh spicy red rose. Geranium and freesia keep this bright and refreshing. If you want the exact smell of red roses that come in a bouquet, you know the Valentine's Day roses from husbands, boyfriends. This is that smell.

Mmm... I like this! I used to have a bottle around when I could still find it easily on shelves. Not expensive yet performant! It smells of... roses :-) Beautiful roses with a gentle touch, long lasting and easy to wera for rose lovers. Not very original and not totally true to real smelling roses, but a good rendition anyway. I would call it a downscaled YSL Paris. Recommended when you feel just relaxed and casual.

I recently discovered this at a British-imports store and I love it! To me it has a fresh apple overtone that makes it really uplifting. The EDT didn't last very long on me (though it also didn't "turn"). I bought the shower gel and hope to get the lotion soon too.

Rosewater scent. Very straight forward and simple. Great for layering!

I think I am in the minority here. Blind bought it because of the reviews praising how true this scent was to the flower, but was SOOO disappointed to smell a rose SOAP (heavy on the SOAP), mixed with a rose TOILET AIR FRESHENER (the one in the aerosol). Definitely not something I'd want to wear on my skin, although I did test it to ensure it wasn't just horrific in the bottle. It did just as badly on my skin. Because of the fact that this didn't work for me personally, I have a full bottle available if anyone is interested in swapping.

If you love Bulgarian Rose and want a simple, inexpensive fragrance to wear for casual wear and even for work, look no further because you've found it. It's inexpensive, but not *cheap* smelling. Perfect for summer time being it is light and not overwhelming at all. For Spring and Autumn, it would be easy to layer over a white musk oil with just a touch of cedar to give it a little more depth in cooler weather. I think they must have reformulated this because I smell a bit more than just Bulgarian Rose and supporting geranium and freesia. It does have a woodiness and musky soapiness in the dry down or at least that's how it's playing out in my skin. I live in the US and found this in a local British exports store near one of the major universities here. Just to give you an idea how it can be found so maybe you won't have to blind buy it online. Update: it appears they did reformulate this as I suspected and also updated the packaging. The notes are listed on their site as follows: Top: Green Leaves, Lychee Heart: Violet, Rose, Jasmine Base: Musk, Woods, Iris Fragrantica you might want to change your note pyramid to reflect what is on the Woods of Windsor website.

This perfume was a delight for me to find. Roses being my favourite flower, finding this at a chemist in my town was a delight. I sprayed it, didn't wait for it to dry down, and bought a 100ml bottle, because I liked the initial smell. I kept this perfume for well over a year, and always applied it very liberally due to the weakness of the perfume itself. I came to notice eventually, how quite linear this perfume really is. It's only rose. And I do love that. But because it's a very weak and watery rose, it became less and less satisfying for me to smell. When I ask for a rose perfume, I want my rose perfume to be like I'm being smothered in roses. This was more like a body splash. And that's what I eventually used it for, as opposed to a perfume. I also used it as a room spray on a few occasions when I wanted the rose, but not on me. This is a nice rose. It's simple, plain, pink roses, and it's very easy to like, and very easy to wear. A good all-rounder. But more like a semi-fragrant rose bush. And I prefer my roses heavily fragrant, and more like a collosal rose garden. I did use up my bottle, but haven't purchased it again.

Pure rose. Nothing but rose. It's pretty realistic and dewy and with the additional freesia and geranium especially geranium create a well rounded rose scent. It's soft and subtle and very perfumy with a classic English rose scent however because it's a linear scent and has no base notes you can forget about wearing it all day. This lasts only about 40 minutes on my skin. Bummer. Because I really love the smell. I reapply and spritz multiple times. Makes great air freshner. If you like roses you'll like this one. It's reminiscent of other rose perfumes like Yardley English Rose and Taylor of London Elegant Rose, affordable rose scents. It's also like the L'Occitaine Rose 4 Reines and Roses et Reines. But I would have to admit that all these other rose perfumes I mentioned last a bit longer and smell more elaborate. Without base notes a perfume is pretty much a light mist.

I received a 100ml bottle of Woods of Windsor True Rose as a gift with the purchase of two bath gels (one rose, the other jasmine), and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. It's a simple, watery rose scent, much less intense than what I was expecting (Tea Rose!) and not at all green. Seems like a perfect summertime scent. The opening waft of alcohol quickly dissipates, leaving a friendly--not stuffy--rose scent behind. I am sure that I'll be wearing this a lot over the course of my four-month stay in the UK. Coincidentally, I am not far away from Windsor! I'll be sure to don this eau de toilette when I set out to see the castle... The Thames river path is delightful, flanked with lots of flowers, including very fragrant lilacs, along the way.

This review is for Parfum de Toilette in a shorter bottle and squarer box than the one shown here. I'm guessing mine is pre-reformulation but can't be sure. True Rose is well named. It's a straightforward rose scent, not dark, not overly sweet, not jammy, not too sharp - just rose. I asked DH to identify the flower and he said "rose" without a moment's hesitation. The sillage and longevity on this are good, but again, it's a stronger concentration that EdT. I bought this very cheaply on UK ebay, so if you enjoy rose fragrances it may be worth looking out for. I like it! Oh and it just occurred to me - this is not unlike Paul Smith Rose.

I was running out of this and ordered online a couple of bottles more -to find out this has been reformulated! The package has changed many times but now the juice itself was totally different from what it used to be. So sad, I'm so disappointed. The bottle is tall and round like in the picture above but the cap is plastic and square shaped. The juice is lame, sweet and gone within minutes. The old one was so fresh, beautiful and natural and lasted for hours. Has anyone else here experienced this reformulation shock of this once so beautiful rose fragrance?

Roses, especially big blooming ones, are my favorites. The sweet smell always brings happiness and hope for a brighter future. In holistic healing, the scent will invite peace for troubled minds. That is what I am expecting from this scent, which is true. The scent brings out only a single, sparklingly clear note of rose. I never notice greeny geranium or sweety freesia, only rose and just rose. Though it does not last long (meaning that I must spray it every 2-3 hours), it will bring happiness and relaxation to my mind.

Although it is a decent rose fragrance, True Rose suffers a little from being a bit too simplistic in its realization of the flower. There's really nothing wrong with the scent. It's an amiable essence of young roses, distilled in a hazy composition of white wildflowers and alcohol. I appreciate this fragrance as a decent casual rose scent, but next to Une Rose, Rose Barbare, Rose Absolue, Red Roses, and even Tea Rose, True Rose doesn't really compare. It needs . . . a twist.

A very simple, fresh & pink rose. I don't personally wear this although I own it & tend to use as a room fragrance. The shower gel is beautiful & feels slightly more complex on the skin. It also lingers for a good few hours after showering and is great value; definitely comparable to l'Occitane Rose et Reines body range which although delicate & pretty, I found had little longevity.

I really like this scent although I would not ware it as my perfume, its a great room freshener but to ware this is not on top of my list as a perfume favorite. Something about "Rose" just never has done it for me as a raw perfume, I don't know what it is about it. But leaving that in mind this is a beautiful rose scent.

Beautiful - just beautiful. I collect Rose perfumes and this one is very good - just clear, pure rose scent. I cannot really smell the freesia or geranium at all. It is also very, very relaxing and a good 'bedtime' scent. I have the EDP in the square box, not the EDT in the taller one.
