Cerveza Rosa

Cerveza Rosa Parfum was launched in March 2022 and is a creation of the perfumer Renato Lopena. It is part of the collection of authorial fragrances of his independent brand, Wren Atelier, founded in 2020. The inspiration came from the Philippine festivities and also from the popular appeal of Oktoberfest. For the perfumer, Cerveza Rosa is a way of preserving a part of the local culture, in which beer is present on all occasions, just like in Brazil. And to bring this fragrance to life, he combined notes of coriander and pink pepper, over a heart of apple, damask rose, and lychee, embraced by a body of musk, guaiac wood, and fermented beer accord. And what a beautiful creation! Cerveza Rosa has a lighter and sweeter alcohol content than other fragrances that bring notes of rum or whiskey, usually combined with amber accords, and aimed at the masculine audience. Here, the floral aspect and the fruity accord make all the difference and automatically place this composition in the group of shareable perfumes that polarize opinions. Cerveza Rosa has the texture and smell of fermented cane molasses, with a stiff, prickly backbone – like the central stem of wild roses bush – and the slick, milky pulp of the lychee. I can’t feel the apple or cilantro, but I'm sure they're there to balance the sense of smell, as well as the bowl with salted peanuts that are served in bars to affect the taste, increasing thirst and beverage sales. I must confess that I found myself looking for some references since this fragrance is not totally unknown to me. And the closest I could elaborate here was the idea of a young woman wearing Candy Rose (Montale) in a pub, at the happy hour, and having a bath of spilled beer on account of an accidental bump (or not) by a bachelor interested in casual sex, which ends up becoming a serious relationship. It may seem strange, but it is addictive, especially on colder days, with temperatures that do not exceed 15°C. Not to mention that it has excellent projection and tenacity, in addition to please anyone who is looking for a fragrance that escapes the ordinary. Personally, I've never been a fan of beer, especially since the smell of barley makes me sick. But this Cerveza Rosa got me tipsy.

This is very well done. I've done my search for the best perfumes that focuses on the notes. I'm done with best fougeres, best vanilla, best amber. We fragheads all have phases of craving that our notes wants to digest. Im done with rose, so much done with rose because this is the first note that I sought when I started discovering perfume in 2016. But this drunken rose builds my love again for the rose note. On the spigot it smells like Hoagaarden Rosee. I remember that it somehow tastes like coriander with a juicy fruity taste and aroma. The beer here makes it boozy and slightly bitter. The rose here is well done. It is not like turkish rose that is juicy and sweet and commonly paired with oud or bulgarian rose that is commonly paired with citruses that is light and airy. This is damscus rose. The velvety elegant smelling rose that smell a bit powdery and fresh. The musk give the rose note that fresh aldehydic smell. And the secret here why I think I love it so much is the apple and the lychee that perfectly compliments the rose. That two fruity notes balances the rose to give it a juicy vibe. The use of damascus rose here as he tried to make it smell like a turkish rose, the perfect amount of apple and lychee to compliment and round the rose is genius. It is mouthwatering and pleasant. The leafy facets of the rose which are unpleasant and makes rose fragrance green are rounded with these fruits. I can feel the beer here is acting as a fixative and a backbone to balance the spiciness and the main player of this perfume. The beer here is quite sour and covering the sour edges of the rose note. Imagine this, you are in a bar, beer festival specifically Oktoberfest, and someone in the middle proposes to his girlfriend together with rose petals. This is what it smells like. You can smell the spilled beer together with rose that is trampled and on the floor. It smells like love, free spirit, freedom, and euphoria.
