Fireside Citrus

Smells like sipping an old fashioned in a wood-paneled jazz lounge, lounging on a leather chaise. It opens bright and citrusy, with a spicy herbal edge, dry woods, and a subtle smoky, leathery undertone—likely from the styrax. There’s also a soft monastery incense vibe, lifted by the citrus to keep it from feeling too heavy. It’s for the guys who take their whiskey neat while smoking cigars, or the girls who throw a leather moto jacket over a silk charmeuse slip dress. It reminds me of slowly sipping a warm hot toddy while curled up on a velvet couch, writing in a fresh leather-bound journal. Longevity is decent, though not quite as long-lasting as some other Wyld Note scents. Sillage and projection are solid—noticeable but not overpowering. Overall, it’s a well-balanced, sophisticated scent with just the right amount of grit. Definitely one of my favorites from Wyld Notes.

When I first discovered Wyld Notes, this was the fragrance that most intrigued me. Sadly, like most of the offerings, the gorgeously bright opening quickly shifts into muskier, heavier tones that evoke a mature fragrance jive. I do love that opening. Spicy sweet. Crisp. Citrus. Earthy. Stone. Resinous. Rich and deep, but relaxed and casual. A bit rugged. Green, and something about it leans more classically masculine. Slightly floral, softly refreshing. High desert after the rain. But the citruses disappear rapidly, leaving more herbs and earth on my skin. It becomes an offensive and spicy rosemary bomb.
