Golden Moka

Xerjoff Golden Moka is the second entry I’m trying from the Coffee Break collection released in 2018 (after Golden Dallah), and like Golden Dallah, there is the vague hint of raw unroasted coffee and some roasted coffee. I was assisted in understanding that the cannabis-like aspect of Golden Dallah was actually the fresh coffee rather than black / roasted coffee. Golden Moka is noticeably fresher and brighter, a mix of citruses, raw coffee, oud, rose, and resins, still having some of the same funky cannabis-type feel as Dallah but in a fresher blend, certainly yielding a less idiosyncratic and more versatile offering while still having a lot of character. I think it’s an impressive feat to use the raw coffee accord in this way to yield a multifaceted, borderline tropical fruity mix that is provocative in various ways (with rose and oud in the mix) but settles in a reasonably well-blended fresh, sweet, resinous, yet still sort of funky coffee mix. Like Dallah, I love Moka—it’s a great fragrance and slightly easier to wear than Dallah, even if Dallah edges it out on account of richness and daringness. Golden Moka appears to only be available in the US via Luckyscent and then the Xerjoff Universe website, for $275 and €197, respectively, so priced slightly higher in the US than Golden Dallah, peculiar since Dallah seems to be denser / higher-performing than Moka, but it could be a matter of ingredients and I’m currently unsure if Moka was released later than Dallah in 2018 (Green followed in 2020). 8 out of 10

I find all three from the Coffee Break collection to be very good. Golden Green is my favorite, but Golden Moka is easily the 2nd place winner. It puts a smile on my face every time I wear it. I find it to be considerably more masculine in intent than other reviews here would allude to. I do feel it is somewhat in the ballpark of Uden Overdose, which I also own and really enjoy. Underrated, of course. As many under-the-rader good frags are on this site. This particular offering delivers a special citrus experience, combined with a very enjoyable transition through mid that adds a light green coffee note, and a resinous dry down. It never gets heavy or dark, and somehow manages to maintain the blood orange bitterness throughout, a facet that I find to be quite enjoyable. As other reviewers have mentioned in previous comments, the citrus dominates, and coffee isn't the forward expression here. I am fine with that, as it stands on its own regardless of the collection it resides in. Performance for me is average to above average. Doesn't punch you in the face, but the sillage and dispersion is still quite good, as is time on skin. This, on discounters , is priced very reasonably.

Golden Moka - The perfect blend between citruses and darker notes. The opening is a beautiful citrus explosion but not a bright citrus. I would say that the opening of the fragrance has a blunt and smooth citrus compared to the traditional bright sharp notes you would get like say in Nio. The dry down gives the fragrance some complexity and depth for the colder months. It seems to be a good blend between the incense note, the coffee and the citrus. The coffee is less prominent even though the collection is called Coffee Break. It's more of a raw green coffee if that makes any sense. Golden Moka isn't a fragrance that should be blind purchased like any fragrance but I would say that this especially should be sampled first. Those who are just getting into niche fragrances shouldn't have too many problems with it but this isn't everyone's cup of tea. 9/10

I love this new Xerjoff Golden Moka perfume! I tried a sample first then ordered full size. This projects at least 6 feet leaving a nice scent trail. It is not so strong it chokes anyone but I wouldn’t overspray it, 2-3 sprays lasts me 6-8 hours. On my skin the beautiful rich coffee, espresso, is strongest with amber and hint of incense. No citrus shows up on me or green notes. Maybe a tiny bit of oud and labdanum. It stays the same on me from start to finish, maybe the Arizona desert heat affects it. This is one of my favorite perfumes and I highly recommend it! I mainly wear this perfume in evenings and love to wear it to bed it smells so yummy! It is not sweet and seems creamy with deep rich scents that are perfect for fall.

I’ve been sampling a lot of new different samples this week everything from thameen, to bdk , to argos, to xerjoff to bond. This one stood out the most. Opening is a well put blend of juicy citruses and some Oud . About 15 mins later those citruses tone down and the Oud pops up very sharply and it’s just the perfect duo that no one expected. By the way no coffee at all detected . I do however much prefer the opening rather than the dry down but still nonetheless it’s a pleasant smell throughout the whole wearing. Performance is pretty strong with this one I’ve sampled many xerjoff, this one is there most underrated hidden gem Overall - 9.4/10

Another wonderful creation from Xerjoff. It was a love from first sniff, but I find myself enjoying it more and more everytime I wear it. Realistic blood orange and sharp citrus notes are strong through the opening, though this gradually transitions into a more dense, warm scent with tasteful doses of coffee. Indeed, I think this fragrance isn't as coffee-forward as some would assume, but it's at the perfect level considering the other accords this fragrance highlights. Underrated in general, but certainly within Xerjoff's own catalogue of offerings. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for something versatile but a bit different.

This is one of my favourite fragrances and my boyfriend feels the same way about it. It reminds me a lot of Enigma, so much that I wore GM on one wrist and Enigma on the other to finally decide which one I wanted and I chose this one. Effervescent opening cola like and amber traces. I detect no incense, coffee or rose, I feel a woody component to it but not getting any oud; only a robust wood that supports the composition. I love wearing this at summer as it isn't dense at all. A gem. Masculine leaning but as a woman I totally rock this with no problem due to my inclinations for masculine fragrances.

Interesting fragrance! It opens up with a wave of citrus fruit, mainly the slightly bitter blood orange. The high-quality, realistic citrus you expect from Xerjoff. The coffee notes are a bit abstract however - it almost smells like a blend of green, unroasted beens and roasted Turkish coffee. The coffee is not continuously present, but peeks around the citrus and incense every so often. After a while there's only rose, incense and labdanum left, not a lot of coffee. I think it's worth a try if you like coffee with a fresher twist, but full price? Not too sure

Angelic scent, I think its judge harshly because it is said to be part of their coffee collection and there is not much coffee here. However the scent is gorgeous and the top and mid is alluring and seductive. I could see this as a great date scent for close encounters as it's not a projection monster but last long and projects a scent bubble around you for those who are special enough to receive the opportunity to enjoy this tasty fragrance! Xerjoff raw materials are exceptional and I feel this is underrated as a scent by itself with the coffee moniker.

Absolutely amazing 10/10 imo .. granted it's not a coffee bomb by any measure so I see ppl being disappointed by that and I get it but the scent in itself is heavenly sweet citrus with some nice green notes and something I can't quite put my finger on but I love love love it. I'm fully convinced that Xerjoff is the best house in the fragrance game. I have Naxos for the fall Cassamoroti 1888 for the winter Golden Moka for the spring and Nio for the summer and I could live on those 4 bottles alone lol

Opens with a burst of delicious citrus, develops into a dark spiced coffee/oud fragrance, and ends with smooth smoky woods. Not at all an offensive oud. I could see this being a big people pleaser since it isn't a super skanky oud. Not as much coffee as I would've liked but still a very solid fragrance overall.

I finally received my order... I love the complexity in here...it does remind me with something but I can recall... coming for a person who loved the coffee break collection...this one comes on the top of my list. over all 9/10

This is such a gorgeous coffee scent, complex and fresh, not just coffee note.

Not at all what I expected. I definitely agree that coffee is not prominent in the composition, but I disagree that it's not detectable. There is without doubt a coffee vibe in the fragrance, but the bouquet of citrus and almost tropical smelling fruits is stronger. It's essentially tropical smelling fruits with coffee, some greenery, and an ambery vibe. Fresh and juicy. It kind of reminds me of a (horrid tasting, but pleasant smelling) drink that some coffee shops have here in Taiwan that mix passionfruit or mango pulp and black coffee. It's a rare fresh coffee based fragrance, which is surprisingly pretty nice. I agree with a previous reviewer that there is a slight marijuana vibe here that reminds me of Mancera's Hindu Kush. The way the coffee is used is also reminiscent of Mancera's Aoud Cafe, but this is waaaayyyyy better and less synthetic/headache inducing than the Mancera. Performance wise, I disagree that it's weak. Xerjoff in general for me has never disappointed in that respect. I get persistent projection and sillage for the first few hours, and decent longevity of about 6-7 hours from two sample spritzes. I could definitely see 3-5 sprays from a bottle lasting you for quite a while. So in short - fresh, juicy, fruity, slightly coffeey, smooth and well-blended in the characteristic Xerjoff style. Super pleasant, versatile, and I could see this being a crowd pleaser, even a date night kind of fragrance. Worth the price? I'm not so sure about that. But it's definitely kept me sniffing. 7/10

TL;DR: This is a citrus perfume with a coffee note, not the other way around. I'm honestly surprised it’s listed in the Coffee Break series. While it smells nice, when it comes to coffee-forward fragrances, I’d choose more typical fan favorites like Amore Caffè or Vietnamese Coffee ☕ What an unusual scent! Citrus lovers looking for something out of the ordinary should give Golden Moka a try. It reminds me of when I visited a hoity-toity coffee bar with custom wood ceilings and floor-to-ceiling faux greenery. I ordered an orange espresso on a whim 🍊☕ (thanks, TikTok trends!) and, to my surprise, it wasn’t half bad. However, it was A. exorbitantly expensive there and B. would never be my drink of choice 😆 Golden Moka opens with a blast of intense orange, underscored by a tart punch of lemon 🍊🍋 In true Xerjoff fashion, the citrus sticks around much longer than usual for a top note (we're talking hours instead of 20 minutes tops, seriously, how do they do it?). The coffee note is detectable from the start, but it’s quite subtle. As the scent develops, the citrus transitions into incense, with amber and labdanum notes rounding out the base. There’s a touch of oud and rose in the background, and honestly, I'm missing the green notes (can't detect them with my nose). At no point does the coffee feel like the star of the show, but overall, I like this fragrance! 🌟 On the off-chance someone comes to me asking for a perfume that smells like OJ and coffee, I’ve got my answer ready 😆

The best Golden in the "Coffee Break" series in my opinion. It has that fantastic "Golden coffee" accord at it's core, with a green and citrusy top. Especially the citruses i get a lot of in the beginning. It's a "just about any time, all year wear" type of fragrance. Probably not in the high heat of a summer day, but for a cooler summer evening or a rainy summer day it'll work fantastic. At the same time it's perfect for spring and autumn, with a strong enough base for winter, with maybe the exception of the coldest of winter days. I've got Golden Dallah and Golden Moka and find that Dallah is a winter only fragrance and i use Moka for spring and autumn (and for a cold rainy summer evening). You don't really need Dallah if you love Moka. But i really like that ekstra dark, deep and powerful scent of Dallah in the winter. Score: 9/10. If you like the coffee smells in a coffee house, you'll probably like this one. I'll call it blind buy safe, IF you don't consider the price. No fragrance that costs as much as this does is really blind buy safe.

I have always loved the way coffee smells, but except for the coldest 3 months out of the year, I hate the way it tastes. This is probably for the best since I'm caffeine sensitive. To be honest, I can never figure out how much cream to add or how sweet it should be. There are times when I add way too much sugar and by the time I get to the bottom of my world’s greatest dad mug, I'm drinking straight syrup, my eyes are fighting to jump out of my head, and I'm wired like a 5 year old with unlimited access to the Halloween candy for the next 18 hours. Like most of my coffee, Golden Moka is THICK! A gourmand scent for coffee lovers for sure. This needs to be worn in the coldest weather and in places where you'll have space to let it breathe. As the fragrance goes through its progressions from opening to mid to dry down it does get less dense and to me more appealing.

Lots of Citrus, green with hints of coffee gotta look for it tho but it's there. In the dry down you get more of an ambery oudy morrocan incense I grew up smelling mixing rose, bits of oud, amber and Patchouli except it's not burning here just smelling out of the box, to my ratings I do in fact like it a little bit even if it's not what I was expecting but still not full bottle worthy for me and it's somehow reminds me of initio's oud for happiness which I don't really like. The performance is not that great also max 5 hours for such a perfume it should last longer on clothes maybe the whole day but it lays really flat and doesn't pop or project after the first let say hour and a half! Typical unisex rather shy and classy. Opens in a herbal way with cozy background. Labdanum and incense dominate by an inch ahead of coffee that I barely perceive here and the softness of a rose and charm of citruses. However, all the notes are gentle, shy and thoroughly blended. It sweetens a lot soon after the opening, possibly with amber and as if with tonka. I perceive it as vanilla. But restrained not totally feminine. I feel it on me, but it is not loud, just warm and close to the skin radiating to my chin ~ 5cm from my neck. The rose peeks every now and then - gorgeous without being feminine. Very elegant it fits both day and night and is autumn perfect.

I bought this along with Golden Dallah. The opening is straight citrus but I enjoyed the dry down. Def a unisex scent. I don't like it enough to get a FB though.. I love Xerjoff but this goes in the ehh its OK category. Maybe it will grow on me after it's macerated for a bit. Thats happened with a lot of my decants I didn't love at first sniff. Edited 1/1/24 - (original review 11/24/23) I really enjoy this now! The opening spray is a beautiful citrus and the dry down now leans feminine on me but it's still unisex. Golden Dallah is more masculine with a heavy black coffee vibe. Out of the two, I'm going with Golden Moka!

I finally can say that this scent is lovely and it’s worth full bottle. I had hard time to break down it to a different notes in the beginning and it took me a couple months to start loving this one, the opening was too much reminding me the opening of Renaissance which I do not like. Sweet citrus and mandarins slowly fade away leaving place for incense which actually reminds me a smell of leather jacket, or leather wallet. It’s bright and dark in the same time. Btw people love its scent trail, it’s filling the room, warm and a little mysterious but still bright.

If you like Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo you like Golden M. Very similar after 15 minutes of applying Golden Mocka. I own both. The only difference is GoldenM starts with citrus notes for the first 15 minutes. Then it is maintained with a sweet that rounds it off. While Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo is masculine, much more punchy and dense. It is the unisex version of Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo. I bought it blindly thinking it was different but hey it is what it is.

Citrus + coffee + green notes = guava accord.. Yummy and fresh yet mysterious beautiful scent I love it 10/10

If San Pellegrino blood orange were made into a perfume, it would be this.

Golden Moka by Xerjoff: Starts off with all the citruses, mainly the blood orange which is high quality. The rose is also quite noticeable from the start and is also nice. The oud and the amber come through but I don't pick up on any coffee whatsoever and then the incense comes out in the drydown. To me this is a citrusy oud scent and nothing special. I was hoping to pick up more on coffee but there just isn't any. It's not that it's a bad scent, its just underwhelming and slightly boring in my opinion. It does have good versatility and okay performance though. Top notes: Citrus, blood orange, rose Middle notes: Amber, oud, rose Base notes: Incense, oud, rose 3.5/5

I want to like this fragrance, and did when I tried it in-store. However, the received bottle just smells like non-specific sweet fruit with some green on the opening and an undertone of something like smoke, but not smoke, throughout. I think the far dry-down is more appealing than the majority of the wear, as there is a certain note that lingers up to that point. My partner has described the note as "Victoria's Secret body spray". I did pick this up from Joma as opposed to direct from Xerjoff, but all evidence points to the juice being legit. Perhaps it will mature better.

Also a letdown. Hoping for coffee, nope. Low projection, short longevity. Got the citrus in the opening but really just a shot of bright orange in the opening followed by a dull smell of rye in the dry down. It honestly smells like I rubbed rye bread on my skin. This is from a sample set direct from Xerjoff.

Dense sweet fruits + coffee. Amber dry down. Smells good, but nothing exceptional. There are better coffee scents, and probably better Xerjoffs out there. If you’re looking for a true coffee scent, try out Akro Awake! It’s a “meh” out of 10 for me.

The San Pellegrino blood orange is true. It smells like a candied sugary drink.

While this is a high quality blend, very complex and has a nice sillage, I have not enjoyed any of my wears in all seasons. The citrus opening is so strong, upfront, and quite lasting, to the point that it acts as a layered perfume over a more ambery oriental thing with a coffee nuance. By the time it gets to the lovely mid and great drydown, I'm already tired of the muddy vibe. The citrus/coffee combo has been done quite a few times in recent years, to mixed results, and the contrasting fresh tartness usually compliments the deep warmth, but in this blend it's just clashing and confusing. For a brief moment in the opening it goes into an exciting direction, but quickly steers onto chaos. A disappointment for me, because it takes more than an hour to become something that truly belongs in a "Coffee Break" collection. And that something smells really really good: Amber, some leftover zing, fresh coffee, a hint of rose which is the chef's kiss here, and some middle eastern elements. It sucks that you can't shave off the top. To my nose, the entire Coffee Break series suffers from trying too hard to smell unique. Somehow they all end up smelling strange and dull.

Smells distinctively like many smokers; Golden MOKA nails that cigarettes plus normal everyday sweat covered by gum and perfume. Scrubber for me, but probably very appealing to others with more positive associations of this persona.

Moka = COFFEE where is the world is it ????

Golden Moka is pretty but also a let down for me. I expected more coffee (there is none to my nose at first), I expected more incense (there is none to my nose), I expected dark and loud...and got a citrus-green with little projection and surprisingly low longevity. I have to be point blank nose to skin, to really smell it well. Not a good first impression. This perfume must have severe bottle dismorphia because the gorgeous blood red glass and always high quality hinged leatherette coffin suggests an olfactory experience in accordance with the presentation that just flat out fails to deliver. It reaches the drydown swiftly on my skin leaving a strangely tangy coffee reminiscent of Mancera’s coffee note in the far distant background ala Aoud Café. But mostly a generic green with hints of clean amber and the lingering gasps of citrus. If you really think about it, the clean soft oud is there but if I smelled this blind I’d never guess. Xerjoff has done all of these ingredients (except the coffee as I am aware) with more deftness and competence in their other perfumes and having lived with my bottle for a few days, I am grateful that it is the least expensive Xerjoff line fragrance, because it smells like it and performs like it. Most of that meager (by Xerjoff standrds) $200 USD (approx) cost seems to be in the packaging. Scent: 4/10 while it is a pleasant citrus, it is still just a citrus and not even as well done as several of their other offerings. Generic really. Projection: 1/10 none that I can detect but I caught a whiff *once* while wearing it around my neck so I cant say “none”. Sillage: 0/10 definitely not. What a shame. Longevity: 3/10 it lives on my skin for about three hours of any real use and that’s it. Really. Would I buy another bottle: For the bottle. The juice is secondary to me and appears to have also been considered thusly by Xerjoff as well. Absolute disaster.

Golden Moka truly blew me away!!! This is my most treasured vial at the moment. Reading about citrus and coffee notes being paired up is one thing. Smelling it is like being on another planet. Initially, my nose immediately gets blood orange, coffee and incense with the first whiff. Let me be clear about the coffee. Think Turkish or Arabic Coffee and not your traditional Colombian or Arabica bean coffee. Totally different. I do not detect ANY rose at first. As it settles, the Cambodian Oud is more pronounced. The coffee becomes quieter, the citrus juices remain consistent, the amber shines through, and the rose makes a subtle entrance. It's a warm, inviting, luscious, delicious fragrance. I totally considered taking a sip because it smelled that good. But, I couldn't drink it so I ended up licking my skin instead LOL! The sillage is perfection - smooth and not obnoxious. The performance is beastly! I got 8+ hours of it just from my skin alone. Had I been able to spray it on my clothes, I'd be willing to bet I'd get the same or longer. Golden Moka is stunningly sexy, very addictive, absolutely intoxicating, liquid gold. I highly recommend all the coffee, amber, and incense lovers smell this at least once!

Golden Moka opens up almost identical to Killian's Angel's Share although there is no cinnamon & cognac note; I genuinely have no idea how xerjoff was able to achieve this but it smells almost identical; a boozy gourmand scent, with a tiny bit more spice and citrus, but an hour into the scent developing on the skin, it transforms and the citruses begin to shine! I was almost scared in the beginning that the scent will be very strong & overwhelming (as Angel's Share, which I own, can sometimes be) but I honestly prefer Golden Moka more! It smells like if Golden Dallah and Angel's Share had a baby + some citrus from the blood orange + lemon notes! Overall, beautiful scent and gets more beautiful as the scent develops - I've never experienced a gourmand settling into a fresh citrus before so 10/10 for creativity longevity is 8h+ also, the name suggests the word "Moka" and although there is a coffee note, it is barely detectable. Lovely scent overall - 8.5/10 in my opinion

Golden Moka Overall: 5/10 Projection: 6/10 Longevity: 5/10 Sillage: 6/10 Comments: I drink lots of coffee, and I've smelled coffee beans at various stages of roasting. Golden Moka has so much citrus that the coffee notes get buried. 2-3 hours later once the citral has evaporated you can begin to clearly smell the incense, labdanum, and hints of coffee. For a supposedly coffee-forward scent, Golden Moka leaves me wanting more coffee and less of everything else. Lemon and orange notes can also evoke the smell of cleaning products which I typically don't worry too much about, but the citrus notes in Golden Moka are intense enough to cause that concern.

I have seen Golden Moka compared as X's Golden Green younger sib. I would say they are very similar but also different. More like doppelgängers. While Golden Green is very fir/green fresh and light on spice, Golden Moka came on very soapy fresh spice, despite no spices being listed, and no citrus though there are several varieties of citrus in the mix. Both do however have a faint coffee element that connects them. They are both good on longevity and sillage. Not my full bottle beat but a nice holiday offering for coffee based fragrance lovers.

I would love my man to smell like this. Coffee but not in an overwhelming way because it’s bright citrusy and fresh. But also incensey, rich and deep..Smells like a clean cut well dressed man holding a briefcase ordering his favorite coffee on the way to the office on a slight sunny cool fall or spring day 😍 you can do this at night ofcourse but I feel like airiness is what will really make this stand out

This is a really nice fragrance. I like it better than Golden Dallah, which to me smells like you're a heavy smoker. Golden Moka is much more approachable and pleasant in the air. I'd go with moka over dallah if you're trying to decide which one to pick up. Golden green is my favorite of the 3. It's the most masculine and reminds me of the holidays.

It smells much like potting soil with coffee at its opening and becomes pleasant after a few hours. I don't get the incense smoke at all and the projection is minimal. There are numerous fragrances listed as "smoke" which do not resemble smoke. Again I am disappointed. The longevity is mediocre. I wanted to love this one. 😐

Same sweet spicy base as your golden dallah but it omits the red berry vibe and has an earl grey/green tea aroma incorporated into it. This is as good as GD. I can see this being on the redundant side of things but it does have some differences. 👍

For sure don't blind buy. Gives me the same sweet oregano-like note as Amouage Interlude (I smell it even in Interlude Black Iris) which I can't stand. (Disclaimer: no, it smells nothing like Interlude. Two totally different scents obviously)

This scent remembering me entering a hotel when people were celebrating on china new year’s eve, Clean but not my kind of scent.

Redcurrant candy, rhubarb, coffee, cotton candy, rose and patchouli. Pleasant, very ”pink” smelling scent.
