We can all agree that some fragrances build “narrative” by throwing theatrics at you. I recently saw one promising spiritual regression into animal status via... bear pheromones, because why not. Homme doesn’t need any of that. It simply paints the image claimed by Xerjoff's mythology: a man behind the wheel of a vintage car, wearing a leather flying jacket... but it's not another Nuvolari. Mentioning this is important. Homme was the opening chapter of Xerjoff. The first perfume created for the house, with Sergio Momo personally leaning into its creation along with Mr Fiori. Homme's opening is a crisp, citrusy ignition with a strong accent of tarragon. This will smell like aromatic unsweetened anise, green and dry. 15 to 20 minutes in, lavender and iris powder step in. Madagascar clove (my brain reads it as a cola‐ish spice, ever since I wore enough Madagascar Le Baume Vanille to start seeing flavours) will also appear. The iris is handled as I like it: more rooty, not lipsticky. As it fully dries down a clean bundle of woods and leather forms a rosewood-ish sheen Xerjoff loves to sneak into its fresher compositions. In fact, Homme could be considered Kobe (gran)dad. Performance wise, we are talking about something decidedly gentlemanly. It has your typical office/event-compatible presence. Controlled scent-bubble lasting around 5-6 hours, then still well recognisable closer to skin for 10+ hours. Overspraying is also an option... if that's your life choice. If you are into masculine aromatics (perhaps with a late ‘80s vibe) and you can appreciate a slight leathery backbone, this is for you. No bear genetics required, Homme will do enough on its own to push you into tasteful DILF territory. However, sample first. It is quite different from Momo's house in its current amberlicious zeitgeist. Homme doesn't have any twists, just refined blending and, to my nose, ingredients smell better than their other lines. Now I understand why this was the foundational act for Xerjoff. In contrast to Luca Turin's snobbery, to me this is a 10 out of 10.

When I first applied this fragrance I thought I'd found some heavenly stuff the opening few seconds are fresh and you definitely get a brief citrus blast..at least I did anyway and it was not what I was expecting. Then within seconds it starts to develop from the mouth watering...to the headache inducing! A VERY PETROLEUM like vibe starts to develop and as much as I kind of like the smell of petrol in a Pervy sort of way, I would never understand a desire to smell like it! Now except for my beloved Fahrenheit of course but that is different from this Xerjoff signature effect I've observed in a few others now. It has a hint of smoke too and between that and the stinging petrol note you can just about make out the pleasant powdery scent underneath. I'm saying petrol, it's a kind of grubby diesel. The petrol dies down and the fragrance improves a little to a leathery type scent in the dry down. Despite not smelling it at all at first it has the lavender and gernaium/carnation powder of a Rive Gauche, pleasant shave soap, type scent, Alfra's review below comparing it to Knize Ten but I don't think it's as floral. It's a little harsh at first but challenging to my olfactory system and keeps me sniffing which I like.

I love leather, but wasn’t expecting to find it here, so this sample was a wonderful surprise. It starts off with dry, dusty, musty, fuzzy, wonderful leather, some green lavender, and a little bit of sweet floral that smells to me like iris. Maybe it’s the effect of combining ylang with leather. I don’t get much, if any, citrus since the main feature starts right away without any opening act. The drydown is fairly linear, with the leather and faint floral persisting throughout. There’s moderate sillage, and the scent lasts and lasts, all day on skin, until washing on clothes. This is one spectacular leather scent! I think it might be my favorite of all the leathers that I’ve tried. It’s a pity that it’s so outrageously expensive. However, if a bottle were to suddenly appear on my doorstep, out of the blue, I’d take it in and use it often.

This fragrance has three or four distinct phases. The opening is a typical rich, fresh blend of bergamot and Lavendar giving a fougere feel. After 5 minutes the spices and the strong leather note come forward. The leather materialises as a sort of smooth petrochemical smell which one would associate with substances used to treat leather. After 45 minutes the leather dies down and this is where the Knize 10 connection is very accurate. 2 hours leather is gone and all that is left is the cloves and powdery woods for the remaining duration.

Even if some reviewers ascribe a petroleum-like consistency to the fragrance, I only find high-quality citric and woody notes that harmonize well with each other. The perfume is one of the most expensive fragrances from the XerJoff brand, from the "Stone Label" collection. In my opinion, the quality goes hand in hand with the skillful created harmony in the noble composition. The woody notes seem to float on a citrus fragrance cloud - unique. Fragrance: 9/10, Longevity: 8/10. Sillage: 8/10, Flacon: 9/10.

This is a less creamy, floral and more spicy and citrus version of Antaeus. Still being one of the best Xerjoff fragrances, an underrated masterpiece.

Lovely, classic smelling. But €600 worth of lovely? Not by the furthest stretches of the imagination. If it was €150 euros I'd consider it.

Don't know about the Knize connection but for me it reminded me vaguely of Habit Rouge EDP more than anything - I guess the leather and cloves and florals combine to gently remind me of my Guerlain connection. That said this is far and beyond superior and in fact incomparable. It has a feel that is old school - I imagine a healthy proud 70 year old hanging out at the local senior citizens caught between his memory of his prime youth but savvy enough to be modern and up to date charming all the women of all ages. It reminds me of this and also Floris No. 89 that Ian Flemming wrote as James Bonds favourite signature scent. Not that it smells the same per se but more so that it attracts that sort of age group... Something special for some but not for me. I can't imagine someone under 55 wearing this yet I can't imagine someone older wearing it as I always imagine they are stuck on their Obsession, Floris etc and not interested in a top notch perfume... The citrus and lavender opening is old school (even Drakar Noir like) like the above and it dries down to a more predominant powdery leather - slight gasoline overtone. Like all Xerjoff its immaculate in its build and performance and as always had me sniffing constantly as it is a treat in its creation. Alas, its not my style, when I'm 70 I imagine myself wearing Cool Water...

Oooohh my, this may get me in trouble. I have a hard time with leather frangrances because either I’m a really picky snarzweasel or most of them just suck-you decide. I have a few leathers I can highly suggest: Acqua di parma Colonia Leather, Polo Supreme leather, and Bois 1920 Oro are some standouts. But this Xerjoff composition is just unique enough to warrant further consideration. It is far less of a “leather jacket” than it is of an old hard leather bound book. Not acrid and not vanillan but really does remind me of ink and guilded page edges and hard embrossed leather. Very wearable and comfortable and light. Scent: 7.5/10 I do really appreciate this and find it just unique enough. Projection: 3/10 this is where it all unravels, the projection at rest is garbage. Sillage: 2/10 virtually no train in my wake and it doesn’t linger. Longevity: 3/10 it will get you through a lunch date but it isn’t going to make an impression on your sheets after a long day. Would I buy a full bottle: at the retail price? Hahahahaha-no. If this were literally half price then I may pull the trigger but it’s not worth it otherwise, sorry. Check out some of the suggestions I put above-particularly colonia leather.

An evocative leathery Oriental chypre style fragrance that manages to make you feel like an ancient Mongol warrior. The perfume opens with notes of citruses and pepper. The brief heart is comprised of lavender surrounded by cloves and ylang-ylang. The perfume settles very quickly into its solid leather base where one can also detect cedar and vetiver. Unisex masculine leaning with pronounced sillage and longevity. I would be remiss if I did not point out that the price point is very steep for what it offers but overall this is a nice masculine leather fragrance. Enjoy!

yes it is truly another version of Knize 10. beautifully blended but too over priced. Edit (13th Aug 2015) i tested it again today and i realized that the opening is quite offensive as Blask, but the calm down is superbly good and KIND OF similar to Knize Ten with the essence of a calming body lotion that has 80s vintage's charms. It is trully expensive but it screams quality with masculinity. Burst it men and grab these hot ladies of Fragrantica ;)

It smells to me like a younger and simpler sibling (brother) of Knize Ten. On top of that it’s got a pinch of flowers and acidic element (referring to citruses that Xerjoff is famous of). I like it very much. I like the rawness and boldness of Xerjoff Homme. Longevity is 11 hours, sillage is pretty potent. Overall - it’s a yes for me, I am not going to buy it though. I’m a proud owner of Knize Ten.

Yes I do get the barbershop 💈 feel to it. But to me this is little reminiscent of the original Armani Code!! I feel like this is a really niche take on it, seriously they’re pretty close. Surprised no one has picked up on it! Plus I defo get an Antaeus vibe - like it’s very clear to pick up on Armani code and Antaeus = Homme

After a few days wearing - I definitely agree it shares Antaeus vibes, but nuclear, almost industrial! I when it calms down definitely some TF Oud Wood Intense ( one of my all time favourite) - I’m still unsure about this one ... will have to wear a few more times to either appreciate or sell on!

Opens smooth petrolic, with a faint orange peel, there is a faint ylang-ylang, vetiver, and lavender concoction, but not standoffish a bit into the drydown. Into the drydown it’s mostly about the same, but you can make off the faint woodsy bias as well. This wasn’t as leather as I had anticipated, and glancing from the notes, honestly wasn’t surprising. What did surprise me though is how a petrol facet was able to be done from these notes, which is honestly what I would have preferred from Mechanic by HUNQ instead of it’s heavy patchouli, violet forward, petrol bias profile. Interesting profile, but it could definitely use something else in here (even though the profile “settles down” as time goes on), to justify the rather high price—not FBW for me. Excellent performance.

The image it paints in my mind is a luxurious reception hall filled with wealthy families, where the average age is around 55–60. I’m not saying that to make fun of it—quite the opposite, it’s meant as a compliment. It genuinely smells like a well-dressed, affluent gentleman in his sixties, wearing a silk scarf, elegant attire, and still carrying himself with confidence and dignity. I’m glad I had the chance to experience it, but at this stage of my life, it’s simply not for me.

It’s ok. Smells too dated for Younger generations.

Fairly unique fragrance (in todays market) that has a nice natural element of lavender in it similar to how Alexandria II does in it's opening, and a nice use of mainly clove leading spice. Unfortunately it also has a rather clumsy heavy use of extra unneeded floral notes in its addition of ylang ylang that overtakes what could have been a great leather and makes it smell a little synthetic (the petroleum smell others mention I think is being caused by this and the clove mixing). Add the above to the price tag, an easy skip.

Same smell as Knize Ten Gold Edition, but it has some toxic synthetics, tried it 3-4 times, every time I had to wash it off 4/10

This is the most challenging fragrance I've ever encountered. I acquired it in my late twenties but didn't begin using it until my mid-thirties. Not that it's unattractive, but because this fragrance is for those over 35. That's when the journey with this beautiful, complex scent begins—a fragrance with a challenging character. And by the way, you'll never find anything like it; it's truly unique and the center of the universe. This fragrance literally presents leather in an unconventional way, incorporating clove, spices, and lavender. This layer lasts for about four hours, after which the clove and spice notes fade, leaving the lavender and leather for a long time. The fragrance has extremely strong longevity, and I absolutely do not recommend using it in the summer. It's only suitable for winter and autumn, and it thrives in cold, harsh weather. One final point: only those experienced with niche and ultra-niche fragrances will truly understand this scent. It's not an easy fragrance to master. 9/10

Somewhere between Etro's Gomma and Knize Ten. More consistent and refined than the former but less powerful and compelling than the latter. Xerjoff Homme is a butch and masculine leather prominent composition that opens with the same, characteristic gasoline note of the two aforementioned fragrances but where the Etro may result a little too literal in reproducing KT, the Xerjoff introduces a nice iris note to add some personality and soften the general harshness. Amber is clearly remarkable during the drydown but it's not as enveloping as in the Knize (which may be good news to someone). Sort of a manicured and polished version of the austrian masterpiece. Great projection and amazing lasting power. Personally I see no reasons to spend such big money to get a reproduction when you can have the original at 1/3 the price but, if by any chance, they will decide to discontinue Knize Ten, Xerjoff Homme will definitely become the only valid alternative. Rating: 8-8.5/10

I want everyone to remember this, Xerjoff does NOT give discounts, and every discounter you go to, you are buying a fake Xerjoff perfume! There are many laboratories around the world that make exactly the same packaging and bottles, there are machines that make perfumes almost like the original, but THEY ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL! Keep this in mind! That's why many of the people who make perfume presentations and many people who buy perfumes from discounters are fooled because you are buying fake perfumes! In these discounters, their perfumes LACK the authentic base, they lack the real thing, that's why many people who have no experience with perfumes are fooled that they use originals, but they are fake! Yes, they are close to the original but they are not the original!

A barbershop 💈 bomb. It smells like pure scented barbershop talc, with a secondary meandering soft layer composed of up lavender, spices (predominantly cinnamon), leather, and flower notes. There is a light woody backdrop but I cannot detect the kind of wood. Excellent perfume if you like barbershop scents. It exudes high class and smells extremely high quality. It gets better after the initial first few minutes. If you like that barbershop smell, kicked up many notches in terms of quality, this perfume is for you. Suited for mature men. However, I understand this is a very expensive composition. I personally would not buy such an expensive perfume just to smell of barbershop talc.

It smells heavily “90s manly fragrance” in my opinion. Very clove-y with citrus on top and a base of not particularly complex wood. I’d certainly gift this to a dad in his 50s/60s. Don’t think it’s more complex than any of the top modern designer fragrances. Happy I got the sample straight from Xerjoff, because I would have a bit of a hard time believing it’s just this, specially for the price point, blind buying this is insane. Not that you’ll hate it, you won’t, but you most likely already have a night fragrance you’ll like much better.

Absolutely a stunning masculine fragrance. I fully agree with the aformentioned comments about the petrolanum like smell. First time i smelled this fragrance it's the first thing that came into my mind. Beautiful drydown, sexy, warm and masculine. This is how every high end man should smell after a night out ... Mixed smokey notes empower it fully and gives that personal taste to it. The best leather and smokey fragrance ive ever tried. Unfortunately bless the price, totally unaffordable.

Got a tester of homme and knize ten from scentsplit here in front of me. I see slight similarities, but they are very different to my nose. The leather accord is quite different in these. Both are good. Knize is sweeter to me. I find homme to lean the most masculine. Slight petro smell in the opening of homme and less soapy than Knize. My choice is homme. It smells more sophisticated to my nose.

Imposing linear scent of newly hydrated (shined) classic leather. Very macho-man and conservative. The leather is left alone on the stage unprepared, not knowing what to do and looking at the audience like a jackass because there is nothing else with him to share the attention. No complexity, no density, just pure, plain and simple classic leather. VERY boring scent.

I really hate it when I find a really expensive product that really is really great. Xerjoff Homme is like a more perfect (less overtly soapy) version of Knize Ten, which is already pretty great. It has that wonderful edible/animalic note that so many of the great leathers have and there's just enough clove to give some interest without it turning overly clovey.

I get a 90’s aftershave type of vibe to this. My first impression is that this is a subtle barbershop and it has aldehydes in it because it has that sparkling pizzazz to it. I’d say this is classy and sophisticated. I don’t think the leather is strong and only shows itself in the mid. By the time it reaches the dry down the leather is gone. I like it.

How no one connects this with Antaeus? This one tries to be Chanel Antaeus, but no one can beat the king! I truly start to believe the saying that Xerjoff is a Niche house that copies designer formulas but uses much better ingredients, except in this case where Antaeus will always be better!

I just got a bottle at normal price of course... It is great, masculine classic scent profile that lasts. But nothing new... I hear people calling this rough and tumble leather rubber.....forget it. It's well balanced and pleasant scent..... It's not a must buy

Ah, yes. The old perfume house, goes way back to 2007. You can buy originals only in one place. In fact, I don't really care if it's true. I don't buy these new and instant stuff. Xerjoff, lol, any Dior or Givenchy has more caracter than so called niche.

If you like this; just get Knize Ten! The opening is not the same but after 45 min to about an hour it will be. Ah yes I almost forgot to mention; Knize Ten actually lasts forever, this ultra expensive stuff vanishes after about 8 hours.

@Tshahb If you took 5 minutes to properly Google the availability of this, you'd discover that you can get it for around half of that--delivered. If your budget however is €150 and you're after a 100ml bottle, Xerjoff isn't your answer.

I have tested lots of leather fragrances and this is one of the most disappointing juices I have ever tried, it smells like knize ten but sweeter. Not worth the money!!!!!

Previous post sounds like it’s from a Neiman Marcus employee. I have gotten bottles of Sarge off from department stores and from discounters they are the same.

High quality, well blended, pleasant smell, but at the end of the day is a barber shop smell. A very expensive barber shop by the way.

This is the oldest smelling perfume I've put my nose on. I picture someone that smells like this is a hairy chested medallion man.

You gatta be a millionaire to be wearing this stuff. Just 0.7ML sample = $10. This smells really great but it isn't worth it.

This is literally Knize 10 but smoother and more buttery. Not worth the price. Get Knize.
