Bohème Absolu

After trying Xyrcle’s other releases, I just had to get this. An apple, tobacco, and cognac scent that sounded perfect for winter. Luckily, we are amid our coldest temperatures of the year while I am testing Boheme Absolu. One issue I run into with apple scents is the overarching Jolly Rancher type sweetness paired with a headache-inducing synthetic tartness. Don’t get me wrong, I love red apples, but green apples can go horridly wrong on my skin. Boheme Absolu presents a more amiable apple, at least on my skin. Quietly crisp with shades of tart sugar that doesn’t feel heavy or forced with a lingering smoky tobacco in the background. Outside the smoke, the tobacco sings with warmth, like dry spice ascending from baked goods merged with dusty cinnamon. It shows its roundness with soft tones of earth warmed by summer heat. Cognac is often overdone in perfume. It’s often devolved into a fruit concoction that is more suitable for a candy store dressed in neon lettering than a high-end boutique for spirits. Fortunately, Xyrcle treats this accord with sophistication, showing its warm, oaky dryness with nuances of dried berries that are given richness by dense, honeyed dates. There is a bit of caramelized vanilla in the base, but it’s not burnt or silky. It almost feels as though it is piping steam from a cup of frothy, milky vanilla. It’s rather soft and paints an image for you to explore, rather than forcing you to indulge. Like a whisper shone through ambery flickers on a wall, Boheme Absolu invites you into its hearth-like embrace. It’s smooth, blended seamlessly like a Kilian while displaying the classier side of gourmand perfumery. It’s simply fantastic for the price.

Boheme absolu Is the absolute epitome of classy. Rich, seductive and so well crafted. I love all of Andhika’s creations but this is my favorite of them all! The notes are so well done that it’s hard to pick individual accords, yet, I’ll try to explain what I smell in this masterpiece. The apple shisha accord smells so natural, front ant center, nothing synthetic about it. The dates and caramel are the perfect amount of sweetness. The vanilla, tobacco and moss ground this and make the dry down feel very balanced. This is not a gourmand but a sultry, date night worthy scent. Also the sprayer... it’s the most satisfying spraying experience. The quality is top notch! Sillage wise, it’s strong and loud. The scent lasts for 7+ hours on me which is rare. I know I sound like I am hyping it like crazy but I am genuinely in love with it! I haven’t been impressed like this with a fragrance in a long time!
