The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I was excited to see this bottle when I first saw it. I always wanted to smell like the haunted house I worked at, which was inspired by TTCM. And when I saw it was made in Austin, which is only miles away from where it was filmed, I had to buy it blindly because who else could make it? This scent is exactly what central Texas in a HOT summer smells like, so I'm arguing that this is a summer fragrance. It even smells hot, which would be wild to wear in the cold months of winter. It has that leather smell that's lost its new suede smell. It's DRY AS BONE leather that's been through the dirt and dust, and it's been well worn. But it's oddly comforting. Despite what it's trying to convey, it's very wearable. My biggest complaint was the shipping. It took a month for 3 perfumes to come, and most indie brands will give you a free sample with your purchase. I got a mystery airhead candy. If you want me to buy more of your perfume, you have to let me smell more of your stuff. It's cheaper for both of us. Also, my cap is already cracking in the first week. This is a great fragrance, but you can tell this is a side hustle.

Opens berry-bergamot heavy, transitions to a crisp, clean, "just there" leather, with a smoky, faintly woody aspect. After some time you get the sensation of the cedar, woodsy notes, with the dust accord (not quite like wood shavings). It still has a faint crisp bias (probably because it's Texas cedar), but no discernible leather here in the drydown. Nothing too crazy or alluring about this frag to get a FB for, other than being a unique kind of woodsy frag, despite the anticipation of the leather here being sold short (I was expecting it to be more rugged/realistic)... Word of advice, ignore the "this reminds me of" section...

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) was my favorite film from the ages of 14-18 so I was very touched when my partner got their hands on some samples of this for me. I really don't know what I was expecting scent wise, but upon putting it on for the first time, I had to laugh. It smells like a BBQ restaurant, thick smoke, sugared sauce. All that is missing is the meat, which I suppose, YOU are. This is not what Leatherface would smell like; this is what the final girl would smell like. The smoke and wood notes reign supreme; the lighter feminine gasps of dewberry and rose struggle beneath the oppressive fumes. This smells like the scene where Sally has just given Leatherface the slip on her midnight run for her life, and is waiting, wet-eyed and trembling, by the sizzling meats in the Last Chance gas station.

I wanted to like this. I really, truly did. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a Texas Chainsaw nut. But, good lord in heaven, this scent is disgusting. Smells like being in a bukkake of Arm & Hammer baking soda toothpaste spit and barbecue sauce. Just nauseating. The only saving grace is that you can't smell it unless you're directly smelling the skin you sprayed it on (in this case, my wrist). I'm going to try and sell my bottle (or should I see if it macerates [is that the word]? How long does that usually take?) but as of right now I want it out of my sight. Only reason it's a dislike and not a hate is because the packaging is awesome and there was an AirHead candy in the box, so that's good. But, as it stands, I'd rather become blue-ribbon chili than ever spray this on myself again.

Idk based on the notes this seems lovely but omfg this shit is RANK. Smells hazardous actually. Blood and puke and drain cleaner with like a burning hair rotting meat sweetness. Wish I could enjoy this but this is probably the most disgusting perfume I've ever smelled. My friend liked it though 😂 maybe it's different on skin.

Smells like fear, fan of the movies but too expensive. Niche art because I'm a snob
