Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme

Uh-oh, I've had a very short stint with it - my relative had a 30ml one for a long while and never really liked it, so I finished the last 5ml of the bottle myself. And damn, it was truly a pleasure - very smoky, peppery on the opening, but just enough to not feel intrusive or off-putting. Later it indeed, as said by the first commentor, develops into more of a fresher scent, with notes of pear and cedarwood on the drydown (at least to my nose). Very versatile, with performance being just enough to cover the whole evening (be it 5 hours, let's say) Something about it that just makes you feel.. different, so to say? Not a fresh citrusy scent, not a warm one either, it just somehow blends different notes together and develops an experience you'd like to smell over and over again. Accompanied me through my trip to Moscow when I was 20, going out with it on, for somebody who was just starting to discover perfume world, was delightful and seemingly made you stand out. Absolutely love it and would like to score a full bottle sometime in the future!

This is interesting, I was looking into Jean-p.'s colognes since she also made Versace Blue Jeans, and found the only bottle she designed that's now discontinued. Funny enough, I blind bought it during a blind buy spree about two years ago. It smells like a generic mall scent over spring or summer in the early 2000s, but considering it was modern 21 years ago (I'm 22 now), it's basically what people wore when I was a year old, so it's kind of vintage and nostalgic. I keep bumping into it randomly, so I’ll hold onto it. It’s her only discontinued. Plus I have weak spot for discontinued pieces anyways. Edit: Use this with a TF: tobacco vanille (or a dupe of it) as a base layer and you will get photorealistic sweetened tea scent.

Not as bad as it might seem at the first glance. Bought it for very cheap, just because i was curious to try more Yohji Yamamotos fragrances (im a huge fan of im not going to disturb you both homme and femme versions) and was little disappointed. But i decided to give it one more chance after one year of sitting on my shelf, and that was pretty darn good. Fresh peppery-leathery scent on a wooden base. Accidentally opened very nice and basic (not that fresh and not that heavy) scent for a spring season. I want to wear this one when im tired of fragrances with amber and oud. Not cheap for me at all, just simple and not deep, but thats what i was looking for to have a rest from heavy perfumes. Nice and affordable spring water.

It was a blind buy and I must say I'm pretty disappointed in this especially with the Yohji Yamamoto brand attached to it. I was expecting a bit more niche or high end but turned out like a shopping mall fragrance which is out of left field from Yohji Yamamoto brand. It smells cheap and doesn't stand out from any mall fragrance. It makes me think of being inside a discount fragrance store that makes you dizzy. Or those faded out scratch and sniff on a magazine. I was expecting more avant garde kind of like CDG but didn't get close to that. Anyway, going to give this away.

i was so excited to try this scent, only to find out that it smells horrible on my skin. i quite frankly dont get any of the notes listed on here. it dries into this ketchup like musty armpit b.o scent on me :( i really admire yohji yamamoto as a fashion designer, so i was looking forward to trying this but alas, it just didn’t vibe with my skin chemistry.

Dead ringer for Cuiron in the first 10 minutes. The deeper drydown is not as smoky- a bit fresher. The opening is a bit more harsh and alcoholic. However, given the going rate for a bottle of Cuiron, this is a great variation on the theme. Wish it didn't have the slightly grating/mall-fragrance accord- but I guess that is why Helmut Lang is out of business and Yohji just keeps going. Similar ideas, just not the same uncompromising execution. Worth trying!
