Ginger Ciao 2.27

My bottle of Ginger Caio oil came today and I am so thrilled with the fragrance, I cannot wait to show my mom this gem. Shalimar's Ode de Vanille came today and I have been testing it, but it fades after a couple hours to a whiff of vanilla, after 3 reapplications of Ode De Vanilla, Ginger Caio is still standing! Ginger Caio evolves on your skin from a gingery coconut with vanilla for the first hour or so before it gently fades into a beautiful coconut, ylang ylang and sandalwood. Lasting power is FANTASTIC on my skin, well over 10 hours. I am so impressed with Yosh's Sottile and Ginger Caio, but I am not sure their other offerings are quite as tempting. Sottile is the perfect, most fresh, nose stuffed in fresh bloomed tea rose fragrance I have ever found. I dont usually like rose scents unless they are very true to the flower and not synthetic or fake smelling, and yosh's Sottile is just what I wanted, also great lasting power. I prefer Ginger Caio and will probably wear it more often, but they both are pretty close to perfect perfume oils, and my choice of which fragrance I pick is completely based on my mood or what I am doing. This is a fantastic original black coconut/ginger/ylang ylang fragrance. I own sage's onyx as well, and the coconut is very similar, but the fragrances are completely different besides that, and Ginger Caio has much better lasting power along with the ginger/ylang ylang- onyx has different notes entirely. Yosh is just oil fragrance heaven!

I've adored Yosh's Ginger Ciao since way back when it came in oil form; I remember wearing a sample of the oil one summer morning while strolling through my Portland neighborhood, inwardly giddy at the rich, tropical notes enveloping me as I walked. Soon after, I ordered a bottle, and got a compliment the first time I wore it; it projected nicely without overwhelming. I'd used up most of the bottle and due to a a big overseas move, and had not revisited it in a few years. When I finally spritzed this on again, after a long break, I had a newfound appreciation not only for its unique take on a tropical perfume construction but especially for its longevity -- wow! It lasts ALL day and then some, which is so rare these days! Mind you, the version I had was the scent before the Rodrigo Flores-Roux re-formulatioin (b.r.f-r ;-)), and I've no doubt it's equally delightful because: Rodrigo!! It's becoming increasingly difficult to find, however, as it currently seems to be out of stock everywhere, so here's to hoping there's more supply coming in because mama needs a new bottle of this beauty!!

I am wearing this now and fell for it at once, but I read all the previous reviews looking for the tuberose note I know I smell and didn't find any. To me it's very tuberose and lily heavy, yet still remains light enough to not overpower you or knock people out around you. It has a very fresh island/beach smell and feel. It’s very spicy, and I love that about it because it cuts through the sweetness and brings a needed balance. I also don't get the civet in it thankfully, but I do get the orange blossom and it is a beautiful one. Fresh, not stale. And as for the ylang, I do not get a lot of that, again, which I am thankful for because the note sometimes bothers me. I was a little afraid of the coconut note, but it's blended so well with the lily, tuberose, etc..that I don't really get it. I went to her website and found this: Perfumer: Rodrigo Flores, Givaudan. Beautiful tropical lily fragrance. Balanced with the sweet butteriness of ylang ylang and coconut. I usually don't like ginger in fragrances I'm getting tired of it but here I don't really notice it because the florals are so prominent and so heady and so tropical that I just don't really get all the ginger. This is really delicious. It reminds me of Goutal Songes A little bit but it's different enough to where I could see wanting to buy this in the future I already own one of yosh's fragrances white flowers and I really enjoy it the longevity is amazing and I'm going to enjoy wearing the sample before the summer is out absolutely stunning beautiful. The way a tropical floral should be done. I can see the comparisons to moon bloom it's not the same it's like a kissing cousin. Very beautiful very natural smelling I can't say enough good about this fragrance. The night blooming Cerreus in here is what makes this fragrance special and the lily This is a gorgeous Lily fragrance. Oriental Lily like a stargazer Lily. If you love tropical heady florals you should check this out.

There is two categories of fragrances that I like mostly – the resinous and incense based and the other group created around heavy flowers. Ginger Ciao has something from both – heavy lily with full of honey cereus surrounded by woody coconut are build on the resinous ginger and ylang ylang base. In my opinion this perfume is heavy and created mostly for audience loving old fashioned creations. I can imagine ideas beyond the Ginger Ciao because many countries in the Far East has this kind of smell – airports, hotels, shopping centers... everywhere you are surrounded by this kind of flowers mixed with spicy ginger. I like it a lot, but in my opinion this fragrance is not for everyone, especially not for those people who is focused on modern incense based niche fragrances.

I adore this fragrance. It's fresh without smelling like soap or laundry detergent. It's softly powdery without smelling like baby powder and it's spicy ginger without smelling too foody. It opens zesty and well blended creamy ginger. I think the ylang ylang keeps it bright and the coconut lends to the creaminess but I can't pick the notes apart. I don't get the typical white floral either. I smell soft powdery spicy white musk. This reminds me of a way more modern and refined version of Jovan White Musk. It's airy and light without being transparent or fleeting. This would be the type of scent you would wear to a fancy luncheon by the ocean dining al fresco with white linen pants , a gauzy shirt, big floppy hat and dark sunglasses.

This is a favorite of mine. I still love it after almost 10 years, which is almost never the case for me. It is especially surprising because I normally dislike orientals, finding them to be too strong and my skin doesn't seem able to let them work. But this is different, it is sweet and rich but not too much of either, and the spiciness is soft with no harsh edges. The coconut shares space with the spices rather than becoming dominant, and it feels like a tropical night rather than a beachy scent. It's great in cooler weather but also beautiful on warm nights. I like it anytime except for blazing hot, humid days. It's one of the very rare perfumes that really works on me. My skin loves it!

I bought this, along with 2 other Yosh perfumes on Hautelook having never smelled any of them. When I first wore it I didn't like it all, it was way different than I have worn before, but I gave it a chance. This perfume is now one of the few I have worn this summer. I get a blast of ginger when I first spray it, then just a touch of mild coconut mixed in. The drydown is a pleasant floral mix with the sandalwood thrown in. All in all an amazingly complex scent on me and I wish I bought more than one battle of it.

Still feeling a bit buzzed from a scent I tried yesterday, Yosh Ginger Ciao. I was amazed by the warmth and the depth. I looked it up just to see why it was doing this to me, and found coconut. Yes coconut, and lots of it, but this is not your fun in the sun, beach blanket coconut. This is deep and rich and enduring and sophisticated. Ginger, ylang ylang, night blooming cereous, and sandalwood can really make a coconut note grow up and make you fantasize about it when it's not even around.

I didn't like this when I bought it. But this has truly grown on me. This is a buttery and tropical floral. It smells very much like Jasmine Of Athens by Theodoris Kalotinis. I have that one also and they layer perfectly together. Performance on this is 10/10. Edit: I'm testing Profunum Roma Sabbia Bianca and this and that smell very similar. I love Ginger Ciao. It's so juicy and lush.

This is all-out sexy sultry and bold! The ginger isn't flowery or powdered cooking spice - this is pure ginger root. It has a pungency similar to that of horseradish, but it's earthy and sweet. Mixed with heady black coconut and cereus, this smells like a love spell brewed beneath a full moon on a hot Kona night.

Ginger Ciao is a very sunny, life-affirming, tropical scent. The way that the ylang ylang, ginger, lily, and coconut are combined here delights me! The quality of the ginger here is exceptional. Gorgeous from start to finish. Reminds me a bit of Hermes Twilly.

It's bright, fizzy, effervescent. If you were to make a pina colada with ginger ale instead of pineapple I feel like you'd get something very similar to this. It's fun, totally appropriate for the heat and not at all to sweet. Very easy to wear.

Gorgeous sweet white floral that dries down with a dry finish. The top is all about the lily with some jasmine and ylang in there. This is not coconut tropical in scent. There is no detectable ginger. It is lovely.

I love the spicy ginger note in this one. Slightly tropical and flowery with a woody base. Yum!

What I like about Ginger Ciao is that it's ginger and coconut heavy without being remotely foody. It opens with an abundance of peppery, zingy ginger - the real stuff - and coconut, but it's quickly rounded out with the heady white florals and soft woods. It has the sunscreen feel that the notes would suggest, but in a more elevated form. It smells like a true perfume. I received this as a sample with a purchase from Yosh's website (along with several other scents - she's very generous with the samples she includes with purchases). I don't think this is one that I need to own as "beachy" isn't my preferred scent profile, but this makes for a beautiful, more classic version of the sunscreen-adjacent scents that are so popular now. For fans of this kind of thing, it's absolutely worth checking out.

Just a really nice, super wearable summer white floral. Sexy and approachable at the same time. It's got a vibe I've smelled a lot before elsewhere, so it's nothing I need, but it's a very good spin on an old formula. Went through my sample of this lickety-split.

Nostalgic sunscreen scent in the vein of Arquiste Vaction, but without the pool float note :) Definitely a summer fragrance or something I'll spray on myself at the end of a dreary midwestern spring when I can't wait for warmer weather

Overrated and pointless concoction in need of anti-schizophrenic notes. This wants to be green but it's too creamy, wants to be spicy but comes across sweet. Terrible, too bad because the notes sounded good. Poor lasting power to boot (oil)

I was not at all 'bewitched' by this fragrance. Maybe because I was trying to find the ginger hiding in the lilies and gave up, too much trouble.

Bali Hai is calling . . . I'm ready to put on a silk sarong and hibiscus in my hair! Before reading the note pyramid, I wanted to wear Ginger Ciao 2.27 for the experience. Smells similar to sitting at an expensive vanity table immersed in a lavish talc aroma. A milky pressed powder smell like found in jeweled Stratton compacts . . . the kind with a protective sifter between the puff and powder. Combined with a creamy waxiness exuding extravagance like costly vintage lipsticks when they were new. Sumptuous . . . fresh, and slightly organic. After reading the note pyramid, I was impressed with how sophisticated Yosh makes these tropicals smell. The makeup I associated is a combination of the hedonistic coconut and custardy ylang-ylang, the vanity a mix of sandalwood and spicy ginger. Although the scent is relatively linear, it's dense. Natural details sculpt the aroma with the sweetness of basil, the spice of lily, and other accents. There's also a tangible sensuousness that's seductive. I applied to every pulse point to have the warmth of my skin magnify the effect! Sillage and longevity both excellent. Pacific Island ingredients transformed into elegance . . . this is tropical luxury.

OK, this is pleasant, kind of "natural", wearable - indeed - coconut, with a hint of sandalwood and flowers, but just like Onyx I have tested recently, it seems quite simple and straightforward (nothing mind blowing there - not for me - certainly not daring, energizing or adventurous as the perfumer describes it)and it is very light and does not last! I do not smell the basil or ginger (and I love both, so I was looking forward to this) and if there is anything "dark" in the coconut, then it's an earthy, slightly sweetish kind of darkness (soil or forest floor), but certainly not "sexy" or "dirty" dark. As I said it's pleasant, but the price doesn't seem appropriate for this kind of light, simple fragrance. The sample I have received from Luckyscent.com is EDP, although this should really be oil (???), so perhaps that is the problem - maybe the oil is stronger and lasting longer...

This is only tropical in the sense that it smells like heavy sunscreen from my youth--mid to late 80's, or that sunless self tanner that we've all tried. That's not a bad thing, it was a nice bit of nostalgia. I do get some ginger, although not much. A ton of basil and lily though, and too much lily and we've got a funeral home masquerading as a saucy tart on the beach. The coconut smooths it out a bit but not enough to make this overly likable for me. I'm only thankful that it's not overly strong or tenacious---6 hours and it's faded enough that it's not going to give me a headache. There is just too much going on here and I don't need or want to smell like self tanner and basil. I am fully aware this is mostly my chemistry, as there are so many that love this one.

Opens with a burst of ginger that fades pretty quickly into an interesting coconut/white floral. Very tropical. There's a balance of the creaminess of the coconut with a very green 70's style white floral (think Jontue or Anais Anais). There is a weird Thai Curry-like note that develops partway into the dry down, but it also disappears pretty quickly. I guess that's the point where the basil combines with the coconut in just the right (or wrong) way, lol. I'm not a huge fan of this kind of soapy white floral so this is not really for me but it was likeable enough, and the addition of the creamy coconut was interesting and, I felt, worked quite well. Worth checking out at the very least.

Today (5/22/10) was the launch of the Evanecent Line of Yosh's scents (Eau de Perfume Sprays). It is sunny and cold here in San Francisco (55 F) as my partner and I made our way to Barneys NY. Yosh's smile warmed us up from the bone chilling wind. We went through the 6 different Eau de Perfumes and decided to purchase "Ginger Ciao 2.27". The combination of black coconut, ginger, basil, arabian sandalwood, ylang ylang and neroli notes, we were able to take home the warmth and sensuality we felt from Yosh in a bottle. The sandalwood gives this scent a creaminess to the oriental floral notes, making it wearable for all.

Hi ginger :-) 1. I get no coconut at all. None. 2. It is mostly a ginger/lily combo with some sandalwood lurking as an afterthought.. The lasting power is great, and the initial blast is so good that i would probably stock up for years had the fragrance remained a reach ginger confit it smells like in the beginning. But unfortunately it settles down fairly quickly to a bland-ish 9but VERY well made) spicy floral (lily centered i would say). Good. But wouldn't buy it since it reminds me of Chanel Beige but naughtier.

Ginger Ciao 2.27 Yosh Coconut and ginger combo! We get these 02 notes right on our faces since we spray it...lol Then, in a few minutes, Ylang Ylang gives us a creamy and floral accord that makes me feel proud of this scent. i feel also a "soapy" aroma during it evolution and the lily too (it is not strong o does not make the scent a powerful floral) I like it. On dry we get more ylang and coconut too. Ginger only on the opening. :D

Very refreshing scent that smells like fresh ginger with creamy ylang and coconut with other white florals keeping it light. The ginger is very pungent on my skin for the first 3 hours and then it blends more with the creamy white florals and coconut in the ensuing hours. This has good longevity on my skin and I find it both calming and refreshing at the same time. I may need an FB of this one.

To me, this smelled fresh and warm, like warm laundry?! Not in a bad way, just in a relaxing way. That must be the ylang ylang, I guess. And the spiciness of the ginger really blends well to me. I feel like this lasted quite a while and was a relatively strong scent, so kudos to that too!

Sadly, this is a disappointment for me. It's been on my want list for ages, as a lover of ginger and white flowers, it sounded gorgeous. The lily overpowers this and I barely sense any ginger. There's also a chemical undertone that is a definite deal breaker for me. Such a pity!

This was not as gingery as I'd hoped. The coconut is lovely but the ginger isn't strong enough. The lily is super green and quite distracting. I thought it would be warmer and spicier but the sharp green lily throws the composition off.

I could've sworn there was jasmine in this.
